i saw this in the library and i immediately geeked out and decided on the spot that i HAD to read it. i love how it features/explains the history of how marketing started off thousands of years ago to how it all works now.
i’ve learned a lot and it’s so interesting to learn about other companies as well. if anything, this book just made me love marketing even more!!
The second half had some really useful info, but the first half felt way too focused on the history of marketing, aswell as just general business / economics
Maybe that's because its meant to be more like a degree, I'm not sure
A lot of the notable marketers profiled in the book were active around 50–100 years ago! Some more recent examples would have been better.
Thankfully things did pick up for the second half of the book which felt a lot more practical. It would have been good to see more examples of marketing collateral, campaigns and strategies
On the whole a decent overview of marketing for beginners I think
