The dragons only let me out to hunt. But this time, I’m hunting angels.
My need for vengeance drove me into danger. I sought redemption for my past, determined to put an end to the conflict between the angels and dragons.
Instead, I ignited a spark.
Now, the angels are summoning their strongest warriors, and the dragons are preparing for war.
A wildfire burns around me that could destroy the fragile seed of hope that Callan Steele planted in my heart. Even the flame he kindles within me can’t light the path I must walk.
All the while, my most dangerous enemy is hiding in the shadows. A dragon of such power that he threatens to destroy my life and the life of the man I love.
Unless I join him.
Some angels fall, but I won’t shatter and break.

I'm just so broken hearted for Asper and I'm internally screaming because that ending just can't stick! I'll be anxiously awaiting the next book and hoping for all the good things to happen, because these characters need a break and honestly, so do I! My poor heart kept being squeezed and crushed. And did I crave every single second of it?! You bet I did!
If fast paced action is your addiction and you love a pulse pounding enemies-to-lovers tale, don't pass this beautiful book by! No one writes like Ms. Frost!
Engaging Storytelling Makes for a Satisfying Second Installment
Picking up at the book one cliffhanger, Chase the Shadows dives right back into the story. And it delivered! Keeping me captivated, from the beginning to the heart-pounding end. I love, author, Everly Frost’s originality in world-building and lore crafting. She did not disappoint here.
Expanding on book one, the plot thickens, and the characters grow. Several secondary characters are further fleshed out, new enemies are introduced, and the main characters are pushed harder (oh the heartache). Additionally, there are references and easter eggs for other series by this author. This is a fun way to enrich this book universe, without causing issues for new readers. With loads of action, romantic tension, character-growing trials, and unpredictable twists; you will not want to put this book down. Beware the cliffhanger, but it is still worth the read now.

👼 Recommendation: You want to read this series now!
Everly crafted an amazing continuation of Lanas tale in Chase the Shadows and the name truly explains how Lana must feel.
Hunt the Night introduces us to some amazing characters and a confusing situation as the Angels use Lana as an assassin. CTS gives us more of the mystery of Lanas past and a few answers. I had a theory or two about what was going on and absolutely loved and loathed the twist at the end. The way Everly crafts a story will have you chasing down answers right along side Lana.
Everly does such an amazing job world building and bringing every aspect to life. You can feel the emotions from the dragons gold, you’ll feel loss at some of the revelations and you’ll itch to avenge the family of characters you will grow to love.
I loved how Callan gives Lana a chance to make her own choices for once and through that freedom she unlocks more of her power. I loved getting to know more of the side characters and I’m already hoping for a spin off with at least two of them (pretty please)!
If you enjoy PNR, shifters, dragons, angels, and unraveling a mystery that could save the world or burn it to the ground, this series is for you!
If I could put a bunch of open mouth, mind blown emoji dudes in my review, I would. Book 2 starts at the exact spot book 1 leaves us. It’s book 2 so, no shocker, it’s another cliffhanger. This review may contain spoilers simply due to the nature of it being book 2.
The world Everly creates continues to be amazing. Lana, Not-Lana, has been beaten up and captured by Solomon and the Angels stand by to wait for him to end her. When she does not go quietly, they jump into the mix until Callan shows up and shuts the mix down. We learn more about Lana’s past and who she is as well as why Callan struggles with his dragon form, and why Lana can tolerate being in close contact with him. It’s amazing and I absolutely love the world. Any more info would give away too much, but Chase the Shadows is well written, the characters continue to be unique, evolve and remain interesting. And that ending …. Whew. I love Everly’s work and she just continues to impress with this installation. You will not be disappointed!
Dear lord, I am once again blown away by Everly’s limitless ideas and the masterpiece that this entire series is shaping up to be!!
We got more answers, along with plenty of well written and heart pounding combat scenes, plus some spice of course! Lana came such a long way with the way she viewed herself and those around her in this second instalment; I really adore how her character development has been practical and not at all rushed.
Argh, I just love this story and the characters!! There’s always so much happening and so much detail included and I love that I can picture these characters so clearly in my mind to really immerse myself in the setting while reading. The way everything is tied together and the twists… I’m running out of words lol but this book is INCREDIBLE!
Callan, my man… ohmigawd that ENDING what in the goodness was that?!???? I’m scared and I need book 3 immediately.
Alsoooo if you haven’t read any Everly Frost yet, you’re missing out and should add to your tbr right away!
Everly Frost has done it again in book 2 of an urban fantasy tale of angels and dragons at war. This is set in the same world as some of her other books and it’s so fun to find the Easter eggs throughout. Chase the Shadows is fast paced and I devoured it because I wanted to know what would happen! It starts up right where the first book ended. Lana or Not Lana is so strong and has certainly changed and grown since the beginning of the first book. I love Lana and Callan’s love and how they fight for each other. There’s some really cool takes on magic and gold and I love it!! Everly Frost is so creative I love what she comes up with. This story does end on a cliffhanger just as a warning and I’m dying for the next book now! So if you hate cliffhangers maybe wait until the series is complete, but otherwise if you love urban fantasy with romance, what are you waiting for??
I received an ARC from the author and I’m voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Well the story telling in this one was amazing, so many layers and the twists just kept on coming. What an evil cliffie!! I have so many questions I think I need to write them all down so I don't forget for book 3.
The biggest surprise in this book for me was the way Everly totally turned around Sophia's character and I can't wait to see her grow and put her ex and her mother in their place and really hope we get to see more of a growing relationship between her and a certain someone.
Callan and Not Lana are amazing characters and I love their growing relationship and can't wait to see what happens next.
I'm loving the back stories and learning more about the angels and the dragons and can't wait to see where the next book goes.
I have no words after that ending!! 😱🤯 After this book, I can already say that Supernatural Legacy is my new favorite Everly Frost series.
Chase the Shadows picks up right where Hunt the Night left off. It is action-packed with tons of twists that I didn’t see coming! I love Lana as the FMC because while she’s strong and a bada** fighter she’s also vulnerable and is learning what it means to have a family for the first time. Callan is is now also one of my favorite MCs I’ve read in a while. I love how understanding he is of Lana and that he pushes her to make decisions and recognize her needs and wants.
This series feels really unique to me because I don’t think I’ve read anything else that has both dragons and angels like this one does. I really have no idea how this story is going to end, but I can’t wait for book 3!
This series 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻I was unsure about it when I picked up book 1 but it was good so I carried on to book 2 and I’m so glad I did!! Had me hanging on to the edge of my seat with the plot twists and character development! My only frustration is that almost everything is unsolved going in to book 3 and I’d liked to have had maybe 1 thing tied up to give me hope 😂 genuinely gutted the next one isn’t out for like 2 months!! Bring it on
Holy dragon's breath! If you loved book one of this series there is absolutely no reason why you won't be obsessed with this one even more! I know for me, this book is next level! I was hooked in so deeply, that it was practically impossible to put the book down. I was not putting it down for anything. Nobody got time for that lol.
I can't express how much I loved watching the world growth in this story and all the connections and twists. And seriously read it every chance, every second I got the opportunity to do so. That's if anyone could pull me away 😉. It's one of those books that you literally can't ignore. It'll just suck you in and take up all your brain space. Everly seriously knows how to write her stuff and has an incredible talent and storytelling ability. That's for sure. She never ceases to amaze me. Everly just knows how to keep you sitting on the edge of your seat craving and needing more. And with each new story she rolls out, they only get better and better.
I have come to the conclusion that Everly sits in her writing room and just tries to evilly concoct all these wild and crazy ideas, on how to torture her readers...and then just turns that hell dial right up ten more notches. And she's a damn pro at it too. Because daaaang that ending and everything else in between was just wild. But that ending woah dude! Talk about heart in my throat. I'm not recovered. Sigh.
This story only increases your desire to know more and to try and find all the answers...but it mostly just leaves you needing the next book like your life depends on it. Seriously holy damn...
Just guys do me a favour and read this book! I'd honestly be surprised if you don't love it. I seriously loved the uniqueness of this story and how everything is turning out. I love that this book has kept me on my toes. I just love everything about this story and how easily I got lost in this world of dragons and angels. It's truly...
A really quick summary of this story. If you haven't read book one I'd suggest you stop reading here, as this will include spoilers from book one. I'm not touching on the ending of book one and how that all gets sorted, buuuut...with the change of tides, Lana has a new mission. Nothing can quench her need for vengeance...but now she has set her eyes on a new enemy. The angels. Lana is ready to try and start to right the wrongs from her past. But with the war at an all-time peak, is it too late to take her stand and fight back against those she had always thought were her people (even if she was never treated as such)?
Lana was the spark and now the fire is raging stronger than ever. Will her fighting alongside Callan and the dragons, with her newfound hope and ability to make choices for herself last? Or will it be consumed in that very wildfire?
"I know what I am, and I will die as I am. A wild thing."
And if that wasn't enough, the rising war between angels and dragons...there is a threat that has been waiting in the shadows. One that has been able to infiltrate the army of angels. Betrayal and unseen events lirk practically around all corners. So be prepared for that. Be prepared to feel all the constant hits whilst falling even more in love with all the characters. All I'm going to say is that there are definite favourite characters for me. Beatrix, I love that chick and her brother. Even from book one, I was intrigued by these two. By this book, I was like yep these are the kind of people you need in your life. Not to mention, I liked seeing a little more into another character, that really grew a lot in this story. I really began to build a connection with said character and I have a feeling they are going to have a decent part to play in the next book. And don't get me started on Callan 😍. Man, the guy ticks all the boxes. Well, outside of the turning into a raging fire dragon whenever you want to touch him. But can't be perfect at everything lol.
I'm going to leave you with one more quote, to try and pull you in.
"Callan once asked me why I didn’t think about protecting myself, and I told him it didn’t matter. I am a wild thing with a single purpose: to hunt those who deserve to be hunted. Somewhere along the way my purpose changed. Protecting Callan became my goal because he brings me peace. He is my calm."

Whoa I didn't see that twist coming at all but I guess in the grand scheme of things it all makes sense 🤔 I can't wait to see how it all wraps up and how Lana/Asper manages to figure this twist out.
Asper had her plan but a certain dragon just couldn't let her go through with it but Callan never expected the scene he'd walk in on at the Cathedral to find Dragons and Angels aligned with their one goal... to take out Asper. She never expected that this all started over an object being taken. Her. But how was her being taken what led to her being corrupted she ends up with more questions than answers especially when she's able to steal the gold the Grudge dragons are using to try to kill her. She searches for answers in Callans library but is still left with many unanswered. Sentinels arrive in the city with their main priority to take her in to the prison within the veil, The grudge dragons want her head and so does selene, it doesn't leave space for a lot of allies but the few she has she finds it hard to accept their help she's always been on her own destined to never know love would she even know the feeling? Lines are drawn, friends and foe mingle and Asper doesn't know who can be trusted but when the truth about why she became corrupted is explained to her will she be able to accept what she's feared all along and will those she's come to love pay the ultimate cost being her one true weakness.
***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*** I am not really that big into angels. I can get into dragon shifters a little but they still are not my favorite. Of course as many of you know by my reading history, wolves are my favorite. However, this was a great read! What a unique new world we are in! I was so stunned with how much I enjoyed this book! Everly Frost is exceptional at taking something new an making you devour the book and leave you wanting more. I do wish the book was a little steamier than it was but overall, this was fabulous. The steaminess was increased from Book 1 in the series but I still would have loved even more. Overall, I cannot wait to see what happens next in the final book in the series, book 3! If you are looking for a high-level overview: 🖤Length: Novel 🖤Genre: Urban Fantasy, Dragons, Angels, Paranormal Romance 🖤POV: Female Main Character 🖤Age: Adult 🖤Warnings: Language, sexy times, some violence (including abduction/restraint), and the main character has a rough history that includes what I would define as mental and physical abuse 🖤Spice: 🔥🔥🔥 🖤Violence: yes 🖤Editing: Nothing that pulled me from the story 🖤Series: Supernatural Legacy 🖤Ending: Ends on a cliffhanger 💔
Chase the Shadows is just amazing. It was breathtaking and shocking. Lana/ Not Lana is just so cool but we have another cliffy can't wait for the next book
This book starts in action and just keeps it going. Okay, it starts with an eighty page fight scene of epic awesomeness and adds some more in for flavour later. And that ending! Did not see that coming. Be forewarned: it is another cliff hanger. All those fun new developments go big in here, with revelations peppered throughout but mainly concentrated near the end. I’m still not 100% with the dragon lore (there’s a whole bit about no one being able to partial shift, so what do wings count as then?) but at least our MC is learning alongside us. Asper/Lana/Not Lana is discovering herself and her world and the character growth has been excellent.
I started the first book and got suck into it and now I finished the second and I need to read the third book immediately. What an ending to this book..I will not say more and spoil it for anyone.. Lana has truly lived a sad life...I am hoping she finds herself in the last book. THIS IS A MUST READ....it is so much more than a 5 star book
Good, compelling story too bad it was ruined by the horrible cliffhanger. Normally cliffhangers get 1 point penalty, this one felt so sickening that it gets 2 points penalty. Also normally I make it a point of principle to not continue a series that includes cliffhangers. I'll make an exception in this one, but I don't think I'll be picking up any of the authors other series. As much as I liked the rest of the story so far these cliffhangers undo it all... :(
Lana Harlowe has been shunned and misused by her fellow Angels because of her capacity to hunt and kill. They say she is corrupted, then sent her out to do their dirty work. Now that they no longer control her, the Celestial Ascendent and Serene Commander have ordered her killed. (Hmmm … Angels can’t spell hypocrisy.) But, wait! There’s a new group of Sentinels who don’t want to kill Lana. Do the newcomers merely want to neutralize her danger as they claim, or do they have another sinister agenda?
I really enjoyed Lana’s developing bond with the Dread dragons who have become her found family: insecure Sophia, sarcastic Beatrix, silent Felix, and smoking hot Callan. Especially Callan, who has quickly become her realization of unconditional love and support. (And sex, as often as they can lay hands on each other!) Lana’s discoveries include powers she didn’t know she had, and origin secrets that have been kept from her while she was merely a tool for the Serene Commander. I love being immersed in romance, lore, and magical abilities!
Too soon, events come to a climax, a twist, and a heartbreakingly explosive ending. Now, I’m left torn in two by the way Chase the Shadows has left me hanging again. At least, we have a release date for the third and final (no cliffhanger) chapter, Slay the Dawn.
My thanks to Everly Frost and Hidden Hollow Book Tours for inviting me to join the Chase the Shadows release tour and providing me an ARC so I can appreciate the magic firsthand.
While I was reading this book, I remembered that I noted the release of book 2 because book 1 ended with a huge cliffhanger, I wanted to know what was going to happen next. But I got off the story a bit, it's a little too Demetan for my taste. Lana repeats that she is corrupt, that she should sacrifice herself, blah blah... it becomes redundant. Book 2 also ends with a huge cliffhanger ( That's a nice surprise, I didn't see it coming, but the Demetan vibe is decidedly too intense for me. Maybe other stories by this author would suit me, because she writes well.), but I don't think I'll read the sequel. I haven't read a lot of paranormal romance with angels, and I'm not too familiar with this theme, but if they are angels related to the Christian religion, I find them very unChristian. They are really very arrogant and violent. The angel who used Lana to get rid of the dragons, in particular, has nothing Christian about her. Angels who kill... to kill, for no real reason? Hmm...
Everly Frost is one of my favorite authors and, although I enjoyed the first book in this series, it wasn’t my favorite.
That is completely remedied in this book.
I didn’t really connect with Lana/Not-Lana/Asper in the first book, and I think that’s because she was only just discovering emotions other than rage and the fact that she had the capacity to have relationships with other people. I loved how much she grew in this story, and her growing relationship with Callan, as well as her (surprising) friendship with Sophia. I was actually super into their bonding and Sophia’s growth as a character, and the discovery of her dragon! One thing I LOVE about Everly’s stories is how they all tend to interweave, even if they take place in very different times (I see you Vanem dragon reference from my absolute fave Bright Wicked series!).
I also loved Lana’s backstory and how complex everything was and I had NO IDEA what was happening frankly, even with some of the hints…Nope. Never guessed it. I was left on the last page with Lana like OMFG WTH. I CANNOT wait for the next book to see how it wraps up!
This is book 2 in the Supernatural Legacy Series. These books should be read in order as there is one continuing plot throughout the series.
I am loving this series and where it is going. I love the supernaturals against angels. This is so unique and one trope that I am loving. This book begins exactly where book one left off. We find our MC's are on the run and new information is discovered. Secondary characters introduced in book one take a bigger role in book two. This story kept me captivated and I finished in one setting. This story has it all. You have intrigue, mystery, and romance. The ending threw me for a loop and was shocked at the cliffhanger. I cannot wait to find out what happens when book 3 is released. For a second book in a series, this one stood up to the challenge and gets 5 amazing stars!
Deliciously dark story. I couldn't put this book down. Not-Lana is one bad mama-jama avenging angel ... or is she? She's got a very hot fire Dragon who does everything he can to protect her. He just can't protect her from herself. She's a trouble magnet with a whole lota peeps after her. Not-Lana is buried in layers of secrets that have her spinning out of control as the onion is peeled back. Makes it easy for the bad guys to leverage her new-found humanity and love to get their way. So, so many enemies gunning for her. I'm pretty sure good guys don't exist, and this badass girl is ready to throw down. Oh ... it ends on a serious cliff hanger ... BIG hanger!
Book two of this series starts and ends with a big bang! What a wonderful and wild ride this second book turned out to be. Lena (aka Asper) is still trying to figure out who she really is and what she feels. This action packed fantasy story has everything one could want. Epic battles, romance, steam, mystery and a storyline that will have you glued to this book until the very last page!!! Amazing main and second characters. The series needs to be read in order and this book just like the first one ends on a whopping cliffhanger. Enjoy 💜💜💜
I just can't rate this book. This was a 5 star until near the end. I'm not a fan of sympathetic characters being killed. I realize it makes a good story, but I don't want it. Make them a bit less sympathetic. I also don't like when characters give cryptic answers to questions. I couldn't even tell what they were trying to say after reading their answers multiple times. If people had been clearer in what they were telling Lana then she may have made different choices. To be honest, my "angst" about these issues shows how well written this book is. I read it in one sitting and obviously my feelings are totally invested.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I only stopped to feed my kids and when my kindle hit me on the face letting me know my body had to sleep. I love shifter stories and Dragon Shifters are a new spin for me. I ate this up. Lana/Not-Lana/Asper is such an interesting character & I love how the storyline teases & twirls, so you don’t really know what’s next.
I👏🏻did👏🏻not👏🏻expect👏🏻that👏🏻ending. Great twist.
This baby left me on a cliff-hanger and I’m ready to dive straight off into the next one.
Light me up baby. I need to know what the heck happens from here!
*** I just found out I have to wait until November for the next book……. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ***
In my review for Hunt the Night i said how this was one of my top favourite PNR reads... Chase the Shadows was no different, it carries on from the end of book 1 and from page 1 its full of action, revelations, twists and turns.... The characters are lovable- 'Not Lana' and Callan *SIGH* Everly managed to keep me completely engaged and hooked to this world and that ending *seriously* i very much need the 3rd installment now to see whats going to happen.
I just want to cry!!! It’s midnight and I just finished this and my heart feels likes it’s been ripped out of my chest, I’m so hurt and angry and just really upset right now. How am I supposed to sleep with that ending and now I’ve got to wait till NOVEMBER whaaaaaat!!!! I’m not okay but since misery likes company, I suggest everyone read this series!! And if you read the first book this one picks right back up where the last ended and this one will hurt your soul a little. Oh and the opening to this book chefs kiss!
Ahhhhh! That was me screaming because my mind is blown and also we ended on another cliffhanger, but that's okay, this series is worth it! Everly has yet again introduced a series of surprises and twists for Not-Lana and the gang that left me positively reeling in the best ways. I don't know how she continues to innovate so well in these well-used and well-loved tropes so that they all feel fresh and new but I am just hooked! I loved, loved, loved the continued easter eggs from another series as well! Amazing!!
