This is one of the best qigong books I've read since Ken Cohen's The Way of Qigong.

Anthony demystifies qigong for the beginner, but also provides a guide for those of us who have been practicing for a long time. His 5-Phase routine has changed and enriched my own practice.

This is not a book about how to do specific forms. Instead it's a treatise on how to practice in order to grow and heal. What Anthony has to say is honest (you gotta practice!) and practical.

The book's video bonuses are superb and that's where you will learn how to do certain forms, and how to put his 5-Phase routine together. An outstanding value.

This book came along at the perfect moment for me: I have been dealing with a chronic health condition for some time, and I also started a Tai Chi class 7 months ago, where more than half of the class is devoted to Qigong. This book resonated with me so much, as it both shed a light on my own health issues, and clarified why Qigong can have such a positive effect on a range of physical and mental ailments. Korahais manages to write about something potentially quite abstract and esoteric in such an engaging and no-nonsense way. For someone who is obviously extremely skillful and knowledgeable, he comes across as very humble and genuinely enthusiastic. It's so refreshing to read a book like this, where the author isn't some egotistical would-be guru, just a regular guy who loves Qigong and wants you to love it too. It's the right mix of memoir, fact, history, theory, "Success stories" and a plethora of practical hints and tips. The book also includes a link to the author's Flowing Zen website where you get a lifetime's free access to lessons, resources and meditations. I've read a LOT of self-help/health and healing books, and this one really stands out for me, as it has inspired me to want to actually DO something, rather than just reading about it. All of the clear and practical guidelines and resources in the book also make it very easy for anyone wanting to either start or develop their Qigong practice.

Flowing Zen is the Real Deal on Qigong---Read It!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Anthony's book! I simply could not put it down. It was a page turner. It was extremely well written, enjoyable, captivating, erudite, scholarly and I would give it an A+ for critical thinking and integrity. It full of information about Qigong. Not only is it a joy to read, it can also serve as a reference to return to over and over again. Side note: If you really want to feel your chi (energy) in less than 30 days, sign up for his online class. I did. Frankly, I was on fence about chi. Today, I am still practicing Qigong and experiencing chi everyday.

The author acknowledges that workout books, and books on physical skills of all sorts, have been overtaken by youtube videos. So instead of having drawings or photo spreads of the movements, he sends you to his youtube channel. It makes sense, but it doesn't work. There's no content here to bite into, or at least no more than you could fit in a five page article. The sales pitch and the anectodal stories just put me off, and the philosophy and chinese medicine stuff lands flat.
Very possibly I was just not in the right headspace for this book.

If you want to get into qigong this is a great book to get your interest up!
The only disappointment is that their course starts only once a year and a lot of the book bonuses I couldn’t find where to actually get them?
I love the no-nonsense approach, the oral style of writing which makes it very easy and fast to read, and the importance given to the meditative part of qigong rather than the form.
I did start to practice the 2 minutes drill almost everyday and now I’m wanting more!
So I’m waiting for the course!

I’d give this book 4.5 stars if I could. This book is great for perspective and motivation for Qigong/self care. I recommend reading this alongside a book that teaches you the forms. You get access to the author’s website with the book which has exercises on it but for me at least it would help to have them together as the extra step of going to the website made me look to other books to learn the forms.

This is a great guide on Qigong. I just learned about Qigong in the past year, but from the little videos I’ve tried to follow, it seems to help my body & mind. I’m excited to hopefully get into a daily practice and see positive benefits on my chronic pain.

Stopped midway. I do my QiGong with Jeffrey Chand on line so kind of lost interest in this book.
