Being a lowly human in a supernatural world, I should have jumped at the chance to be one of them—to possess the magic necessary to fit in. But when a rogue fae corners me in an alley and tells me I have some crazy power he needs to exact his revenge on the House that betrayed him, I had to seriously question that life goal.

The Moonlight Wraith, sexy and disarming as he is, is also a notorious killer—and this alleged power of mine is all that stands between him and the vengeance he craves.

But how can I give him something I don’t have?

And, worse yet, what will he do when he doesn’t get what he wants?

His plot to regain his throne hinges on the popular belief that he’s already dead, and my knowledge to the contrary is a loose end he can’t afford. But after a botched attempt on my life by unknown forces, I find myself allied with the broody harbinger of death because he might just be the only one who can keep me alive.

Assuming he doesn’t kill me himself.

QUEEN ME, a spicy standalone paranormal romance set in the Immortal Vices and Virtues Universe. Every book is a guaranteed happily ever after with a satisfying ending and no cliffhangers. Perfect for fans of Immortals After Dark, Black Dagger Brotherhood, and the Demonica series.

DNF at 52%.

This is reading way too YA for me and I've been wondering where the romance is for entirely too long. I'm out.

Loved the cover but sadly this one was not really for me. Also, I don't think the book ever told us how old the h was but the writing felt teen or NA - and the premise of why the h was helping the H didn't really work for me either.

Who knows.

After reading the first book in the Immortal Vices and Virtues shared world, I was really hoping we'd get a story for Adora or Rowe so I was really happy when I found out that Queen Me would be the leading lady.

Rowe is left behind in Fire and Flourite after Adora and Dannika leave, as a human, she's not allowed to just leave the house, or at least it's not advisable, and neither are her nights out with Danni and Adora. A single night out could change everything for Rowe, and it might not exactly be in the way she expected. Rowe was definitely more kicka$$ than I was expecting her to be in this book and I absolutely loved that about her.

The author, Amber Lynn Natusch is a new author to me, but she is definitely one I will be checking out more books from in the future because I absolutely loved her writing in this one and look forward to reading more from her. Would definitely recommend this book for sure.

It's a disappointing read. As someone who's read the first instalment and loved it, I was expecting that this would be another fun read. However, this book ended up being tedious and, in the same way, VERY ANTICLIMACTIC. The first few pages were hopeful, but the rest, I just want to burn.

The Hatred

This book was a great fast read. I do believe I haven’t hated a character as much as one in this book since Umbridge in HP.

First one I've read by this author. I liked it. This one started off on a positive note since its the same world and not only that, has the characters from the first book. Its a pretty seamless changeover. This one focuses on the one left behind, Rowe. Had a subtle Cinderella vibe and I had mixed feelings about Andreas. Never trusted him and thankfully read less like a love triangle and more like bug must be swatted.

Then of course there was the Moonlight wraith Volker. Assassin types are always at the top of the list for me. A bit of jealousy and miscommunication going on. I liked the outcasts, curious about them and of course who has the next story. Pretty much turned out how I thought it would but the power sharing was cool.

I received this ARC for my honest review. This is my first book by Ms Natusch. I was instantly hooked into Rowe’s story. She is living as basically a maid for the people of her house and also works at a restaurant for extra money. Her mother was killed when she was young but the Alpha Shade continued to care for her as she grew up even though she was considered human due to not having powers. One night out with a couple of friends that did not belong to her house anymore is where everything begins. That night she meets the Moonlight Wraith without knowing who he is while in a drunk phase. The wild journey of discoveries and reveals come at several turns and take you on a journey that you don’t want to end. It was an amazingly written story that hooked me in and did not let me go. Truly loved it from beginning to end and definitely recommend.

If you like paranormal fluff with (maybe?) some romance in there, give this a try.

Unfortunately for me, my patience died. I normally like YA. I've read a lot of paranormal romance, and I'm really trying to be fair in this review, but...oof.

If I have to wade a quarter into a book that's so focused on trying to be funny and showing how cool every character is by how much they can swear that it can't hint at even a shadow of a plot, that means it's fluff. Not that there's anything wrong with liking paranormal fluff, but I skimmed the rest of the book and I don't think it qualifies as a romance, IMO.

There's a lot of describing chores and very menial things that could be mercifully skipped over to focus on a real story. I get world building, but the first THIRTY PAGES were about her taking shots with friends and then people the next day being hyper focused on the fact that she went out drinking. Like...these shifters have nothing better to do? Why are they so obsessed with this?

Even the fae dude fell flat. Maybe it's not a bad story by the end, but it was not engaging AT ALL for me personally.

This book was very entertaining. It has romance and suspense. I couldn't put it down. If you are not a fan of the "Slow Burn" romance this may not be for you but I LOVED it. Once they finally come together it was worth the wait. Rowe and Volker were fun to read about. I love that she is human and didn't really back down from "The Moonlight Wraith" and told him exactly how she felt. Watching how Volker's feelings changed toward Rowe was entertaining. I highly recommend reading this book but make sure you read book 1 since there are other characters and situations that are mentioned in this book that happened in book 1.

Very enjoyable read

I think I've gotten hooked on series because I have to say I would have loved to see this drawn out more and made into more than one book, a trilogy would have been great.
As is, the book is a very enjoyable read. I've read books with similar interactions between the H and h that were sparse, as this book kinda was, and it fell flat and didn't make a connection. That is where the sign of a good author comes into play, as we have here, and we feel the pull, the connection between the two, regardless of how quickly it came into play. I enjoyed the elements of there being houses and different fae and the weapons. So, yes, all in all a good read, but one that could have been more enjoyable if spread out a bit more because the ending did feel kinda rushed.

Queen me is a brilliant addition to the Immortal Vices and Virtues World. We're only 2 books in, and I already can't get enough of this series.

This book is about Rowe, who we've first seen in book one. After meeting Rowe in book one, I was eager for her to have her own story and it certainly didn't disappoint!

From the moment Volker (MMC) entered the page, I knew I was going to like him. Is he one of my favorite male characters? No. But he is enjoyable for sure.

What I think is amazing about this series is that every book is written by a different author, and yet when reading the books, you don't even notice because the next book matches perfectly with the previous book.

Deep down I had this feeling throughout the entire book & at the end I was still shocked by everything that happened. I loved Volker & Rowe’s story! It was intense, twisted, intriguing, & had awesome characters. You know I want to see more of Myra & Yael now, they cracked me up & they definitely deserve a story. I love that Rowe turned out to be a badass, not that I’m that surprised by that. Volker was this dangerous, sexy bad boy who stole my heart just like he stole Rowe’s. I loved this one & can’t wait for the next book!

This book QUEEN ME is a well written spicy standalone paranormal romance set in the Immortal Vices and Virtues Universe. This is Rowe’s story ( a friend of Dani from book one!) and she is a human in a world surrounded by supernatural’s and is the servant for the House of Fire and Flourite. Enter Volker, the dethroned king from the House of Air and Amethyst who believes that Rowe is so much more then human and he wants her to help him get his house back! Exciting, entertaining, engrossing, this was an incredible read and had a great twist / surprise I should have seen coming!

Fantasy/Paranormal is becoming more and more my thing and I loved the first book in this series and this one was equally addicting. Volker wants more from Rowe then initially realizes but she’s willing to give in to help the people who haven’t been the kindest to her. I loved Rowe!!!!

Loved this second standalone in the series with character overlaps. Strong FMC and MMC with slight stalker tendencies. Twist you won’t see coming keeps it super interesting. Solid 4 stars. Highly recommend. HEA.

Original review

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Amber Lynn Natusch!

Queen Me is the second standalone book in the Immortal Vices and Virtues world and tells the story of Rowe and Volker.

As I mentioned in my review of the first book in the Immortal Vices and Virtues series, Reject Me, I’m a big fan of Fantasy Romance books and the Immortal Vices and Virtues series is therefore perfect for me! You get to read amazing Fantasy Romance stories written by different authors. Amber Lynn Natusch is a new author to me, I’ve never read any of her books. After reading Queen Me, I definitely need to check out her other books! Queen Me was such an amazing and addictive book, and I just had to know what was going to happen to our main characters.

You get to know Rowe, our main character, in the first book in the Immortal Vices and Virtues series, and it’s so nice that she got her own book. Rowe is such a fun character, she uses a longboard to go to places and she has an amazing attitude. I really enjoyed getting to know Rowe and falling for her! Her love interest is Volker. The moment I read about Volker, I knew that I was going to love him. I love how much he’s changed throughout the book, and how he started caring for Rowe. I loved reading about Rowe and Volker, and I loved reading their happy ending.

Queen Me was such a good Fantasy Romance, and I really enjoyed reading it. This book was well-written with some action and some spice. I do wish we got to read an extra epilogue or something because it would’ve been nice to have a ‘longer’ happy ending. But besides that, I really liked this book. and I’m definitely going to check out Amber Lynn Natusch’s other books. I’m also really looking forward to the next book in the Immortal Vices and Virtues series, Haunt Me.

April 30th was the audiobook release of QUEEN ME by BookMojo author Amber Lynn Natusch and I used my Audible credit to scoop up a copy. Guys, I know I may be biased and all that but it was sooooooo good. This is one of the few ALN titles I hadn’t read yet and I’m glad I waited for the audiobook version. It’s got alternating POV narration read by Kit Swann and Tyler Darby. They totally knock it out of the park. The book is a complete standalone story within Kel Carpenter’s Immortal Vices & Virtues universe and I loved the world rules. I’ve read a few of the other books in the series and this has been my favorite so far.

Rowe is funny and charming. She’s not a perfect badass out of the gate but it makes her relatable. She’s a human living among supernaturals who quickly begins to realize that she doesn’t know everything about her own story. And in her world, that lack of info is a dangerous thing.

Enter Volker/The Midnight Wraith. He’s an overthrown fae king and an assassin. Their first few encounters are sooooooooo tense. This is not an instalove story. Volker is a walking red flag and she’s well aware of it from jump. Watching them work their way to one another was a lot of fun.

It’s got the fun banter of an enemies-to-lovers but they’re not really enemies, per se. It’s an uneasy alliance. The whole story has a dangerous, gritty edge to it and a twist ending that you likely wont see coming.

Overall, I loved the book. Up until now, my favorite ALN title was the Force of Nature series. Queen Me might have taken the top spot. This is an audiobook that I will definitely be re-listening to in the future.

I struggled with rating this story….book 1 the characters were 24 years old and their characters behaviors reflected as such. Rowe I thought was around their age, but I got feels from this story was that she was much younger at around 18ish but character behaved like a 16 year old know it all in some points. Book was referenced as a spicy slow burn….someone needs a definition of spicy cuz this ain’t spicy kind of tame. And the slow burn that is super slow burn took to 83% to see some action, which was kind of mechanical. I was lured into these stories by one of the other authors who is writing in this anthology

The rating doesn’t reflect the talent of the author nor the content of the book but my dissatisfaction with the way some of the events unfolded.

The romance which I had high hopes for, felt underdeveloped and in the end fell flat. I feel there’s much the author could have wrung out of Rowe & Volker but alas I didn’t get it.

I think a lot of people could enjoy this & I did to a point but in the end I was left wanting more out of this that the book didn’t have.

This was my first book from this author and there were things I liked and things that didnt quite hit as hard for me. Overall a 4/5 stars for the story and audio and would definitely reread/relisten when jumping back into this shared universe. This has been my least favorite of the stories so far and I think it probably would have been better if I had read it instead of listening unfortunately.

Let’s start with the audio, I loved the male narrator. I thought he exuded the right stuff for his character. He had an air about him, and the performance was done so well. I could imagine the fallen fae king in my head as he spoke. He made him sexy, dangerous, also pigheaded haha. I enjoyed his rendition. The female narrator on the other hand was not my favorite. I liked her better than some of the other reviewers but she definitely went OTT too much for me with Rowe. Thought she did ok with the evil Queen and she made Adora and Dani sound screechy sometimes. The other side characters were done well, I felt they were believable and got the personalities right, like the coworkers at Rowe’s job haha.

Story was good but wasnt as strong as book 1 in this series of interconnected standalones. I would definitely recommend reading/listening to them in order. It helps keep all the characters straight and the relationships and factions can get confusing with all the crossing between them all haha.
I liked Rowe and her latent power was cool and felt bad with how things went down for her in her past and her family. I felt like not all things weren’t answered but oh well. I was annoyed with our king with how he treated her. I did snort a bit with laughter when he couldnt help himself and stay away. Like try to deny it all you want buddy haha. I know they started their relationship off on the wrong foot but I did enjoy how things came together and their HEA. I liked the Rowe gave it right back to Volker and vice versa. I really wish this series was spicier, I didn’t appreciate how they limit it to slow burn. It didnt even need to be sexy times, it could have been more intimacy to help bridge the long gap til things happened.

I will say I wish these authors talked more amongst each other with the consistencies between books. Two of the main characters in this one were vastly different than their portrayal in book 1. They were vicious in book 1 and then somehow because a father figure and bestie in this one. I mean their ends are rough/unexpected but my brain was hurting trying to forget about some things in book 1 because of how it didnt connect/was the complete opposite of this story/character development.

Overall I would give it 4 stars but there were too many inconsistencies and the audio kept me from giving it a 5 stars.

After an awesome book 1 of the series, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one :D

Worldbuilding:
As the whole series is set in the same world, it feels comfortable, for lack of a better word.
We know the lay of the land, especially since most of this story takes place in good old Fire and Fluorite territory (yep, we're back!) with the lovely addition of some No Man's Land and Air and Amethyst.

Character development:
Rowe is a human (or mostly human) stuck in a supernatural world. Her mother died years ago, and her friends Adora and Danni had to leave her behind (check out book 1 if you haven't already!). So here she is, all alone, either cleaning, waiting tables or getting drunk :D
That all pretty much changes when the Moonlight Wraith finds her (tiny spoiler, she pukes on his shoes and actually doesn't kill her... who knew he had it in him ;) ), and her life turns a bit more precarious. She's quick on her feet, loyal to a fault and will help you out even when she's dead on said feet. Just don't give her any booze, seriously lol.
Volker, the Moonlight Wraith, our former king of Air and Amethyst, had his throne usurped and needs something from Rowe to take it back. He's mysterious, takes what he wants and kills whoever dares to cross him.
Both of them have hardships to deal with in this book, but slowly, they grow towards each other.

What I really like in this instalment is that it's not an "insta-love" or such, it takes time, and a lot of issues present themselves before... yeah, nope, sorry, not spoiling ;) But yeah, having it all take time was refreshing :)

We don't meet that many characters, but I hope we see more of Myra throughout the series (or a spinoff, please!). She was awesome, and I can't wait to know more about her.

Pacing and flow:
This book kept me entertained from start to finish. It's not the fastest book, but the author lets it take its time to get everything up to speed. I do feel that the end could have been drawn out a bit longer, but that's just me :)

The book:
The book was well written with no (noticeable) errors. There is some sex described (if that is important to you). I would rate the steam/spiciness 🌶️🌶️ (out of 5).
It has 316 pages, spread over 37 chapters and is told from both Rowe's and Volker's points of view.

Final thoughts:
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book, and all in all, I enjoyed it! It read super smooth, had a likeable couple, and revenge is so very, very sweet.
As I mentioned before, I absolutely looooove this world the authors have created, and I can't wait to visit more courts and have old characters do a cameo here and there.

Queen Me by Amber Lynn Natusch is the second book in the Immortal Vices and Virtues multiple-author series, this is the first book I've read by Natusch but it won't be my last this book was fantastic.

Remember Danni's human friend in Reject Me (the first book in the series), well looks like Rowe got her own book in the series. It was really interesting seeing a character I only got a small look at getting their own story, to see things through her perspective.

Rowe is terribly human in a world full of supernaturals. She is one of the few, a human, who is a servant at The House of Fluorite and Fire, however that doesn't diminish who she is. Rowe is a happy, sunshine-type person with a bit of sass, who still find the good in the bad.

Her counterpart, Volker is dark, cold, and calculating. Volker is a jerk, which of course is expected from a fae but he's also an assassin (who is darn good at his job) and is the usurped king of House of Air and Amethyst, so his attitude is a little much but something in him is drawn to Rowe. She doesn't want to admit her feelings out loud and Volker is in total denial about his feelings altogether but through sheer stubborn will and charm (on her part, not his) the two grow very close while trying to figure out the mystery surrounding Rowe's past.

Rowe's face isn't the only familiar one, Danni and Adora made an appearance, and Shade and his son Andreas are back as well. Shade is still the leader of the Fire and Fluorite, (Rowe's clan) but things inside the house aren't great, and as an old mystery is revealed it seems like the House has not known peace in a very long time. The story was fast-paced and interesting, there was plenty of mystery, clues to be put together and vengeance to be had on the behalf of a couple of parties.

The last fourth of Queen Me was completely savage, there were a few plot twists that had me gasping. It was a dumpster fire and I loved it. Talk about a fast-paced high-action ending, I have rarely been more entertained. Queen Me was a standalone and ended with a HEA that Rowe deserved. I can't wait to see what the next story in the series is gonna because as of right now, I'm loving the series.

Book 2 of The Immortal Vices and Virtues series is just as good as book 1! Each book in the series is by a different author but set in the same world. We met Rowe briefly in book 1 and I’m so excited to get her story! She’s painfully human in a world where it’s dangerous to be anything less than powerfully supernatural. But then Volker shows up as she’s puking in the alley behind the bar and he’s convinced she’s actually very powerful and he will stop at nothing to unlock her power so he can use her to get revenge on the queen of Air and Amethyst who usurped his throne.

I loved Rowe so much! She’s worked off her feet by her House because they provide her protection, but she still sees the bright side and is full of sass. Volker is hot in that cold, mysterious, assassin way and I enjoyed getting his POV as Rowe melts through to his heart and becomes important to him as more than just a tool for revenge. The mystery of who killed Rowe’s mother and what that has to do with everything kept me intrigued. The side characters are fantastic, especially Myra, a mermaid who has been banished from the ocean and has to work in a crappy bar to get by. I hope she gets a story later in the series! There’s some spice which is well worth the wait as Rowe and Volker’s chemistry is great! There’s a couple twists and turns and while I suspected a couple I wasn’t sure and I definitely didn’t see how the ending would turn out. I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend the series if you enjoy steamy fantasy romance! Each book is a standalone but there is some overlap of characters so you might get a bit more out of the story if you read them in order.

I received an ARC from the author and I’m voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Fantastic magical chemistry!

This is the first time I've read anything by this author. Trust me I will be reading more of her work! I found out about this book through another author in this series. I won't name drop out of respect for Amber Lynn. You have my drooling on the floor in a puddle over the Midnight Wraith. He is so dreamy! I mean I'm okay with him being an assassin, most fae have a dark side. And I love to read dark fae books so this was right up my alley! Who wouldn't swoon over a guy who can disappear into the shadows? Speaking of why do guys think it's cool to jump out at us? Then there's Rowe a human living in a supernatural world. Think Cinderella and you have the right concept. A girl who lost her mother, doesn't know who her dad is and has no siblings. In fact, most of the friends she meets she can't associate with because if they leave the House she belongs to she isn't supposed to see them again. My only critic Amber would be that I wish you could have explained the Houses better. What is different is that all species could belong in a house. Your position in the House is dependent on how powerful you are. Since Rowe is a human she's at the bottom of the food chain. They treat her like a slave. I have no idea how she's so blind to it except she never knew any different. Still she sticks up for them & thinks of them as family. What's sad is how horribly she was betrayed by someone close to her. I suspected another person & was dumbfounded when the person was revealed. I did suspect that person of telling her secrets to someone but nothing as barbaric as it was. The love that Rowe finds at the end is fantastic. She goes from rags to riches and discovers the love of her life!

🌻 Main Characters - Volker & Rowe
🌻 Forced Allies - Slow Burn
🌻 No cheating
🌻 Happy Ending
🌻 Trigger Warning ⚠️ : Erotic scenes (MF), Violence, and Murder
🌻 Spice: 🌶 🌶 🌶 🌶
🌻 Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5

Rowe is a human (Is she tho?👀) and the close friend of Dannika and Adora. She was left alone in the House of Fire and Fluorite after Dannika and Adora moved in to the House of Blood and Beryl.

Rowe worked as a maid/errand girl in the House of Fire and Fluorite and a waitress in The Riff-Raff. She met Volker, the Moonlight Wraith and the former king of the House of Air and Amethyst, at an alley while she was drunk. (SHE THREW UP ON HIS SHOES! 😂)

So anyway, Volker asked her (or more like threatened her) to help him defeat Queen Nyssa, who "killed" him, and reclaim his throne. Eventually, Rowe agreed and willingly help him because she wanted to help her friend/co-worker, Yael, and the people of the House of Air and Amethyst.

The banter between Volker and Rowe was hilarious. Volker was arrogant and Rowe was so sassy — a perfect combination. It was so satisfying when they finally kissed. (I screamed and kicked my feet. LOL. 😂) Rowe stressed me out tho. She was a terrible secret keeper.

What I didn't like in this book was it confused me in the beginning. I've read Reject Me (Immortal Vices and Virtues #1) and Shade and Andreas were described as bullies in there. I was confused to find that they are "nice" in this book. Shade was a father figure to Rowe, and Andreas started as Rowe's "friend." I wasn't surprised when Andreas became a power-hungry traitor at the end. He was so suspicious. I wanna punch him.

I really like Myra, who was Rowe's friend (kind of) and co-worker. I can't wait to read her book.

Queen Me - Amber Lynn Natush (Immortal Vices & Virtues Book 2)

Thank you to the author and publisher for this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This review is my own thoughts and I hope it helps you decide on whether to read this book/series if you’re in anyway on the fence.

_____________________________________

This was great, a fast paced rampage through the House of Fire and Fluorite, a sneaky appearance from one or two of our favourites from the last instalment and a whole heap of sexual tension.

We follow Rowe (remember Rowe from “Reject Me”? A human of Fire and Fluorite House) as she gets inveigled with Volker (the usurped King of Air & Amethyst aka The Moonlight Wraith) as they try to wake a hidden power, strive to find out who murdered Rowes mother many years ago and attempt to reclaim the Kings throne.

We meet a few familiar faces along the way including Shade and his son Andreas (the former being the new Alpha Supreme of Fire and Fluorite, the latter his second) who are dealing with the discontent within the pack since the removal of the previous alpha Mathias (see “Reject Me”)

I loved the relationship that Rowe has with her pals at the restaurant and the way they were outwardly mean but loved each other really.

When I say this was fast paced it was still easy to follow and utterly captivating.

The way that the author developed Rowe from a small, cowered side character to the bad arse, sassy lass that was our FMC is great and felt like the right and natural progression for the character.

Great read, can’t wait for the next!
