Another great book cover, depicting the kick butt heroine of the book Joey Santana. After reading Sinner I was really looking forward to finding out what was going to happen next. How much more can Joey take, will she admit her growing feelings for Reed but most importantly, can she fix the curse before her birthday?

Of course, Joey, along with the others of the supernatural races are worried and wanting their leaders back from Humans United and the government. The problem is that the witches cannot source where the supernatural leaders are being held. Somehow the government and Humans United are somehow blocking their location spell magic. To do so means they must have coerced and probably tortured a seelie they have illegally imprisoned for killing a human to provide some sort of cloaking. To stop the cloaking, Joey and the other supernatural races must rescue the imprisoned seelie. Then if and when the location of the leaders is revealed they need to rescue them. As it’s a seelie being rescued and their magic cloaking the location of the leaders Joey and witch Clover go to them for help. However, nothing is straight forward when dealing with the seelie’s as Joey & Clover soon find.

Whilst all this is going on there is still the matter of Maggie to be dealt with. Maggie has not got sick of impersonating Joey and has died her hair dark to be more “herself.” Reed manages to make his own deal with the seelie, but again the problem with dealing with the seelie are that there always seems to be a hidden element, or it never works out as wanted by the one doing the deal.

I really can’t and won’t say any more about the book as I do not want to spoil the unfolding plot and its order and secrets for anyone else reading it. This book certainly picks up right where the other book left off and gets straight back into the action. When posed with difficult choices, no matter how much and who she has promised to think of herself first, Joey is still a kick butt, non-nonsense young woman who would lay her life down for anyone and everyone she loves and cares about.

Obviously, Joey and Reed are still my favourite characters, and the author had me wanting to scream at the book “Oh no” on more than one occasion with what she did and probably has in store for the two amazing characters.

I was a little surprised to find myself feeling irritated by Lilian, Elliotts mate/wife. I really wanted her to be more involved in the plans to find the kidnapped leaders which include her husband. I felt like reaching into the book and shaking her when she was just taking herself to her room and wasting away in her husband/mate’s absence. A pack member, character I was pleasantly shocked by was Levi, showing a perhaps softer side, and being big enough to apologise to Joey for how he spoke to her when he first met her.

The Vampires as ever adapt and are up for anything thrown at them but I adored the vibe between Atticus and pack member Emilio. There were some really funny flirty scenes.
The seelie really live up to their reputation of being tricksters and only caring about their own. It felt like Joey and the other races were more interested and eager to rescue Eugenie.
Humans United, it’s leader Darius Blackburn and the Government led by Marissa Beauchamp and her new evil henchman, General Grant definitely delivered on the nastiness toward the supernatural race. Torturing to try to get the different supernatural races to reveal their secrets. Then pitting the supernatural beings against each other for human sport.
The jury still seems to be out as to whose side General Grant is on, he seems to be playing both sides with his very own agenda.

I’ve worked trough my likes and dislikes of the different “beings” but where should Magdalena fit? Or Maggie as she refers to herself in this book. It’s weird but I did find myself really warming to her and wondering if under different circumstances Maggie & Joey could have been quite good friends.

My immediate thoughts upon finishing the book were, wow another action filled book in an amazing series.

Summing up, I am loving the series so far, I felt like I flew through reading Legacy and am now looking forward to the next book, I really don’t want the series to end! I adore learning the different quirks, customs and traditions of the different races.

Magdalene has returned with a deal to free Kit and Eugenie from Humans United Center and out of the clutches of Darius and Marisa. In return, Joey would allow Magdalene to take her life just before she turns twenty-six, thereby breaking the curse, freeing Magdalene from her immortal prison, to become a human once again. The deadline for the curse is only months away, it would turn Joey into an immortal, unloved. Those who were once friends and loved ones would turn away from her forever. This is the best choice, if Joey can’t break the curse first.
Joey will agree but, only if Magdalene is successful.
Joey had always been alone, her parents, her only family, never loved or wanted her. Kit was her only real friend, until she met Reed and became part of the pack. Now with so many leaders of the supes taken, hidden away, Joey feels what little time she has left, she must needs find them and free them. She has nine months; she can appeal to the Seelie for help. But the seelie saw it differently Joey had failed to bring Magdalene to them, and she would now be punished for going back on her word. Suddenly, there was only a month left in which to find and free the supes from the Humans United clutches and then, if there was any time left, find a way to break the curse.
Magic was being used to mask the compound where the imprisoned supes were being held, making it impossible to locate and rescue them. The magic was being siphoned off a seelie prisoner. Joey must first free the seelie, with his help they could find the imprisoned supes. Magdalene has finally come forward and stopped imitating Joey, but she has found an ally in the enemies’ camp that will make it even harder for Joey to free her friends.
Time is short, there are lives at stake, besides hers. Reed is coming to the conclusion that he really cares for Joey and wants to help but when it comes to a choice between Joey, and his father what choice will he make. Will Joey and the other supes be in time to save the captives, freeing them from pain, torture and further punishments? Will the seelie keep their word and free her from the curse? What will Joey do if she loses the love, respect and friendship of those she cares about and has fought for?
“Legacy” picks up where “Sinner” left off in this urban fantasy tale. The humans have all but won. All supernatural beings must be registered, locked into an area of Los Angeles without the freedom to leave. There is even talk of placing chips in them in order to monitor their movements. Darius is conducting experiments on the supes in his hold.
Cruelty abounds, humans have become the monsters, but who can stop them. Joey’s story will have you on the edge of your seat right up to the twisted end. Joey and Reed are just beginning to realize they may have feelings for each other; have they waited to late to express them…enjoy them? Full of twisting action, betrayal, power struggles with bits of mad science, Joey and the story behind the supes reminds us that fear and power can be a way for some people to destroy innocents and wipe out whole races of people, to satisfy the lust for control, by those in high offices.
I can easily say this is a book I would recommend to older teens and up. Along with those who enjoy urban fantasy, with a bit of romance gently laced through, suspense, villains you’d love to get your hands on, characters that I enjoyed seeing in previous books and a couple that put others first while, slowly learning to care for each other.

Disclaimer: I received this book at no cost from the publisher/author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. I am leaving a voluntary review and all opinions are my own.

Holy wow! After finishing this book I am so full of adrenaline that it's hard to contain it. I don't know why but I mistakenly assumed that this was a trilogy. I don't know what gave me that assumption but I have never been more glad to be wrong. There is going to be at least one more book in this series and I am so stoked for it after that ending!

I am so very satisfied with the plotting of this series. I really like the originality that the author has used in the creation of the story. A lot of shifter books can be repetitive and a lot of them use a lot of the same tropes and ideas. This series really stands out in terms of creativity. This series isn't a carbon copy of other shifter romances. I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out all of the mysteries in this story. There are still many to uncover and I can't wait for everything to be revealed. I really love this author's writing style. It's so easy to read and very polished at the same time. The writing has a natural flow and it's easy for the reader to connect to the story. The world-building is well written. It's easy to grasp the world these characters live in and it's easy to fall right into the world.

The characters in this series are so compelling. I was drawn to them from the very beginning of the first book. They have a magnetic quality that draws the reader in and doesn't let go. I love how distinct each character is. Each character has their own identity and personality that differentiates them from the other characters. I also love how relatable the characters are. It's so easy to connect with them.

I have really loved the slow-burn aspect of the main romance in this series. Feelings do come to the forefront in this book though for Reed and Joey. They have been building up some serious feelings and we finally get to see them declare those feelings. Any hope of something more for them is snatched away in the last chapter because of Joey's family curse so I am really excited to read the next book and see what unfolds for the two of them. I am also really enjoying the potential budding romance between some of the other characters. And I still have hope for some of the secondary characters to be paired together in the end.

Overall, this sequel really exceeded my expectations. This book surprised me in many ways. I loved the shocking twists and turns in the story that kept me guessing. If you enjoy paranormal romance with creative and unique plotlines, well-developed characters that you can't get out of your head, and a slow-burn romance that is just so satisfying then you need to pick up this series! I can't recommend it enough!

“Legacy” is the third instalment in Karina Espinosa’s urban fantasy “Joey Santana Series”, which is set in a world in which the existence of supernaturals has been discovered by broad human population about five years previous, and the convivence between species is still in a very uneasy state. The MC (Joey Santana) is a recent casualty of that uneasy balance. Her previous human life was cut short when she was bitten by a werewolf and had to begin a new life on the supernatural side of the social boundary.

Right now, though, Joey is in a very dire situation: locked down in the supernatural district without supplies and no leaders to turn to, she has to take matters in her own hands to assure survival without the help of the outside world. Unfortunately making deals with the seelie has consequences, and as the plan backfires, Joey end up in an even more dire straits.

A very well written story, fast-paced, and entertaining, that offers some interesting social critique in a very well-rendered, and fully realistic UF world. Joey is relatable, witty, funny, and determined. Everyone of the secondary characters is fully developed, all of them with very distinctive personalities, that endear them to reader, even the more ‘obscure’ characters have their attraction. Is an easy-read, mostly due to the fact that is very, very difficult to put down 😉 and a very good addition to the UF shelves.

Joey Santana

Poor Joey all of her deals begin to clash leaving her in over her head and when she double crosses the seelie she learns why u never lie to them when the queen punishes Joey by fast-forwarding time so that instead of 8 months till her 26th birthday she only has 1 month Joey starts panicking.
When she tells Reed what happened and he gets her up to speed on the months missed she learns they've had many failed attempts at freeing the captured Seelie as part of her bargain with Fiona she rallies them all together for one last attempt. With options running out Joey agrees to exchange her life to free Elliot in the hopes that Reed will be able to free her in time. When Elliot and Reed make yet another deal with the seelie they learn just how well they play on words as they watch the time run out for Joey.
When she watches everyone around her lose the love they once felt for her she has no choice but to trust the Seelie Queen when she promises it's all part of the process to break her curse.

I was a little disappointed that Reed and Joey's relationship didn't progress more i mean they're both in their late 20s acting like teenagers avoiding their feelings 🙄 hopefully this is rectified in the final book.

The Humans vs Supes war is officially ON and Legacy threw me right back into the chaos with zero time to breathe (and I loved every second).

Karina Espinosa once again delivers a story that’s sharp, emotional, and absolutely dripping with tension.

Our girl is fighting on all fronts trapped in a supernatural district, supplies running low, and still somehow trying to keep her people alive while the world crumbles around her.

Between the double dealings, the cursed family drama, and those oh so dangerous fae bargains (seriously, when will they learn not to make deals with the seelie?!), this book kept me on edge. Every chapter felt like the calm before an explosion.

I love how Espinosa balances grit and heart! There’s action, betrayal, loyalty, and just enough snark to remind me why I adore this series so much. It’s messy, thrilling, and impossible to put down.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be over here screaming about that ending.

Nooooo!!!!!!

Oh my God that ending!!!!!! I’m devastated!!!! Ok, I know that there’s another book but the tears!! This book was seriously heart wrenching in so many ways! First- there’s two very specific happy moments. I’m seriously rooting for a vamp were match!! I’m seriously hoping to see that. I’m also kinda hoping Kit will get a happy ending one day too. He breaks my heart a little more each time- BUT- I could never been team Kit when I’m fully Team Reed! I’m still team Reed even if I may wanna cry a little. And Elliott. Oh and Eugenie! And even Cassius! Man, this book is much darker than the rest of the books from the series. But the darkness must happen for the light to emerge and I’m holding on to that while I wait for book 4!

I just finished this third book in the series and boy did it end with a bang. Joey must go to the Faerie queen to ask her help once again, and things really go down hill from there. I still don’t know who poor Joey can trust, but what I do know is that the characters are great in this, and I’m hopeful that they are going to help poor Joey…maybe. I found this book to action-filled, well-written, fast-paced, and great overall. Now I will be eagerly awaiting the next book to see just how the author is going to Joey out of the latest to befall her. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

This book had me on the edge of my seat. The twist and turns. Joey is always thinking of everyone else.....why can't she ever think of herself. I love that she has a big heart. Why do they want her so much. What is with these damn Fae? What's with the queen. Time is running out. Tick tick tick. The bomb is going to explode. Vampires running rampant, Wolves going to explode. What is life?

Another mind blowing book from Karina. How she manages to make every single book better is beyond. I have loved this series and after reading Sinner and being swept away I was awaiting patiently for the third. And here it is and it didn't disappoint. Loved every second of it ❤️
