Andrea Tolliver and her friends are now Imperial Marines, sworn to protect the Terran Empire from all enemies. Too bad she hasn’t even had time to make friends in her new unit before civil unrest sees them deployed.
Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence.
Separated from their unit, they must discover who is really behind the unrest and stop them by any means necessary. When the enemy strikes from the shadows, they must stand and fight. If they fail, the Empire will never be the same.
#1 Bestselling Military Science Fiction author Terry Mixon served as a non-commissioned officer in the United States Army 101st Airborne Division. He later worked alongside the flight controllers in the Mission Control Center at the NASA Johnson Space Center supporting the Space Shuttle, the International Space Station, and other human spaceflight projects.
He now writes full time while living in Texas with his lovely wife and a pounce of cats.
I won't rate this book because I didn't hate it that much. I typically don't rate books I don't finish, unless I either almost finished them or they REALLY made me mad.
I think I've just read too many books with schools or military training where Everybody Is Against You. Once she got on base, I thought about what most of the rest of the book would be, and I just got tired. I couldn't muster the desire to continue.
I'm not precisely sure what it is about a school or your own military being against you that seems so stale to me. I often am fine with the whole world being against you (metaphorically), but something about the enclosed areas of a school or your military training just annoy me.
Plus, the feeling that they should, at least theoretically, be on your side. I know real life is often filled with people who should be on your side that aren't, but this is one thing that I'm tired of in fiction.
Great book, good characters, fast paced story, want more
I love this book. I don’t give a lot of books a five, in fact the last book I read by this author I only gave two stars. This book was great, fast paced, a great set of characters, great sci-fi technology and an interesting plot. What I don’t like is this authors propensity for having his readers wait a long time for another book. Please Mr. Nixon do not keep us waiting for the next installment in this series. Everyone should give this series a try. You will love the characters, just hope we don’t have to wait two years for the next book. If so I will have to go in and re-appraise my review.
Enemies everywhere when it comes to the Singularity
Andrea and her comrades managed to enlist along with Delta Company to a world to dissolve a dispute and yet they all wonder what's truly going on Just love the mysteries, y'all! Of course, Andrea endures more discrimination to her genetic issues but she perservere through it all with the help of Diana and Cladius. I love how the platoons slowly open to the idea of having a former Singularity person in their groups and even managed to impress some of the heavy hitters. Also like how Andrea gets to prove herself not only in the mental but in marine spirit. Hoorah!
This will long be one of my favorites by Terry Mixon. The characters felt natural, the premise and location believable, and it was a great story line about learning to fit in. If you're a fan of Terry's writing, you'll like it too.
There's a lot of action, well developed characters and a plot that kept my attention to the very end. He created a world enough like Earth that I felt right at home. This is what life will be like when we colonize other planets. We'll make them feel like where we came from. I hope there will be people with the values that Terry puts in his characters when we do.
This is the last in a three book series about Andrea Tolliver, a genetically modified human. Rescued from the cruel Singularity as a 12 year old, she later joins the Imperial Marines and proves that she has what it takes. Not only that but on her first deployment she is instrumental in foiling a Singularity plot to gain a major advantage over the Terran Empire. The action is fast paced, the plot well conceived and the characters believable and appealing. The three books are a very good read.
The storyline has so much potential to take it further, yet this appears to be where it stops It's well constructed, evenly paced with a fair bit of intrigue to keep you interested. Andrea manages to become a marine, along with her friends and what should be a dull quiet mission turns into anything but. What's disappointing is that so many threads are put in place in the last couple of chapters for future stories, yet after 3yrs nothing has come of them Hopefully the author has a rethink, this series really does deserve more
I am finding Terry's exploration of what it is like to be a stranger in a strange land to be especially relevant in our current divided communities, states, and nations. Marked like Cain, there is no mistaking Andrea's heritage. Can we see past to the person?
Brilliant, needs to be read, gripping and probably much more. This is a great saga and told in the words of a great story teller. If you have read Empire of Bones saga you will understand how this fits in to that timeline. There is so much I could say and possibly spoil it for you so simply put just read it, you won’t be disappointed.
My only complaint is this author writes these great books too slowly. I will probably have to reread the first two books in this series to refresh my memory on the backstories. Really good book.
I picked this series up to waste some time, not really expecting alot. BOY! Was I wrong! Fascinating short and long story lines. Military culture and attitude well captured. Just a lot of fun to read. Waiting for the next one!
I loved the empire of bones. Story. Andrea was mentioned in that series a couple of times. Now that I have read her begining. I can see her there keeping the 3mpire safe. Really good story.
This story should not end here. Whereas I read about a book every 3days and have done so since I was 13-14 (I am 70 now) when I say this series was one of my favorites! Rates up there with Asimov. Thank you Mr Nixon, just thank You!
I have really enjoyed reading Enemy Action the third story of The Imperialism Marines Saga. I fill you have finally found a place for Andrea to call home. I look forward to finding out where you take her and her fellow marines next.
I just devowered these three books in the Imperial Marines Saga. I didn't realize it takes place in the same universe as the Empire of Bones series until a Marine Rader character showed up. Great fun!
In the best tradition of Space Marines. Intelligence, Courage, and Violence of Action. With a cast of characters whose next adventures I look forward to hearing all about.
