I never planned to return to Albans Cove, until a family emergency has me rushing back home for the first time in fifteen years. Everything’s the same in the small, quirky lake town—everything except the shy girl I left behind. As the owner of the local inn and bar, Whitney Morgan has grown into the confident spitfire I always imagined she’d be. Seeing her again stirs up old memories, and the feelings I thought I’d buried long ago have resurfaced. But I’m not the same naive, young boy she remembers. I'm a man with a deadly past that’s followed me home and a present that's placing everyone I care about in harm's way. With death lurking at every turn, how do I win back the heart of the woman I’m once again falling for while eliminating the imminent peril coming for us all?
Jacob Chance grew up in New England and still lives there today. He’s a martial artist, a football fan, a practical joker, and junk food lover. A USA Today bestselling author of sports romance and romantic suspense, Jacob plans on writing many more stories.
Hometown Hitman is book two in the Hitman series by Jacob Chance. This is a super fun, sexy, romcom that also includes plenty of bodies dropping every which way! It’s a second chance romance that can be read as a complete stand alone. When I first saw the cover of this book, I fell instantly in love with it. And it is a perfect representation of this little town in Vermont.
Lynch is what he calls a contractor for the CIA. When he was orphaned at age fourteen, his Uncle Max took him in in the little town of Albans Cove, Vermont. During his years there, he met and fell in love with Whitney, but as soon as he graduated, he left town, trying to find himself. He hasn’t been back in fifteen years but when he hears that Max is in trouble, he doesn’t hesitate for a second. It’s time to go home.
Whitney Morgan owns and runs the local Inn and Bar in Albans Cove. She’s proud of her accomplishments and doesn’t have time for anything else like relationships. The only time she’s ever been in love was when she was still a teenager and fell in love with Lynch. But he left her with no explanation and she’s never given her heart to anyone else.
When Lynch suddenly walks back into Whitney’s life, she vows to keep her distance. That lasts about five minutes. These two just naturally seem to come together. But she barely knows anything about who Lynch is now. When she sees just what Lynch is capable of when someone threatens them, she should be afraid of him. But it’s just the opposite. She likes this alpha side of him!
I really enjoyed this. It was super fast paced, no angst, and just fun. Lynch’s twin cousins were hilarious. I also loved that Whitney was a strong woman and was the perfect match for Lynch. This is a quick read and was the perfect way to spend a rainy day.

Hometown Hitman is the perfect cross between a romantic comedy and a romantic suspense novel that packs the steam, mystery, and a lot of laughs, and a fun addition to the Hitman series. Small-town and second chance romances are some of my favorite tropes, and with the added bonus of suspense, I had high hopes for this and it did not disappoint! This story had me feeling all the emotions. I was laughing, swooning over the romance, and it had me guessing left and right and wondering what was going to happen next. With relatable characters, an addictive plot, and shadows around every turn, it’s hard not to fall in love with this book.
I immediately fell in love with the story and main characters. I absolutely loved the tension between Lynch and Whitney, along with their automatic pull toward each other, even after 15 years apart. The romance between them is the main part of this book, and goodness I loved it so much! I was completely hooked on their story, and I was definitely rooting for them both the entire time.
I binged this in one sitting because I couldn't stop reading! It was romantic, hilarious, steamy, and got me in the feels. The suspense plot kept me on my toes and the romance kept me smiling. From beginning to end, this whole story was an awesome read. The suspense, along with the perfect second romance made this book a real page turner.
Lunch right off the bat is seriously the best! He’s funny, a bit of a jerk and has no issue staking claim when needed!
I think I laughed more than anything while reading Lynch and Whitney’s story! I love that Whitney didn’t let him off the hook but she also was no damsel! She said it like it was but no bitterness! These Hitman books are the best and such easy reads that put you in a feel good mood.
I love the way the author can have me biting my nails one minute and then smiling the next.
And I think I fell more in love with the twins than with Lynch….. The author just made their characters so lovable that it was hard to resist!!!
I’m just kidding, there’s no way you won’t fall for Lynch, good thing there’s room in my heart for everyone!! Although I do think Whitney let Lynch off the hook so easily, but I guess when he’s saving her life and all it really don’t matter…..
Are we gonna see more of Burke and Ashley? I sure hope so!!!!
I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntary review.
Hometown Hitman by Jacob Chance is the second book in the Hitman series and Lynch and Whitney's story.
Lynch escaped his hometown and left the only girl he loved behind. Fifteen years later he is heading back to hide out, help his uncle and maybe, if he's lucky, get his second chance with the only woman he ever loved.
Lynch and Whitney have some tension between them because of their past but once they move forward, there is no denying their chemistry. Lynch's cousins had me laughing out loud and I hope we get more of Burke and Ashley in the future.
I love Jacob Chance's suspense books as they are always engaging, steamy and so much fun.
5 Maple Leafs for Hometown Hitman which contains... MF, Law Enforcement, Small Town, Second Chance, Dual First-Person POV.
“Whitney and I would meet up before school most days and sit on top of the BFR watching the mist rise off the water. “What is it with that rock anyway?” “I see Whitney sitting up there sometimes, but she won’t say why. What’s so special about the view.” “It’s not about the view, it’s about who you’re sharing it with.”
Hometown Hitman was an entertaining read that kept me turning pages until I read “The End.” A second chance romance that had me laughing at the crazy characters antics. Set in a small town, based around a bar owner, her friends and those she considers family. I instantly liked these characters and how the author described them. I’d of liked to read more scenes during the years spent apart and them growing up, so that I could really connect to the characters. It felt rushed toward the ending and left my inquisitive mind with a few questions. Overall an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon lost in an Albans Cove reunion.
Jacob definitely is a “hitman” when it comes to his words….he always hits the mark! Hometown Hitman was an awesome read! I love the little town it’s set in. I really felt like I was in that atmosphere while reading it and I absolutely loved Lynch and Whitney!
You meet Lynch in book 1, Honeymoon Hitman, and I am excited that we are getting more of him. His job has been his life for the past 15 yrs and when he left his hometown in VT, he also left behind the one girl that was his every.
When he has to return to his hometown he also finds everything isn’t like was when he left….including the girl he left, Whitney. I love the chemistry between Lynch and Whit, the were a match made all around.
Hometown Hitman was fun, swoony, thrilling and a perfect second chance! I loved it!
I've been looking forward to Lynch's story and was hooked from the first page.
This was a quick read filled with a little suspense, a little bit of crazy, and a whole lot of love.
I felt the connections between friends, family and Lynch and Whit. The small town vibe made me want to get dressed and go hang out at The Barn with them.
I look forward to Jacob's one liners as much as his stories. He did not disappoint with this book.
To sum it up, it was "their story", and it was great!
Another amazing book by Jacob Chance!! This is a fast passed, action packed, second chance romance. The story keeps you glued to every page, I couldn’t put it down, It really is so entertaining.
Lynch and Whitney are sensational characters that get there second chance at happiness. They were really amazing together and there chemistry was off the charts.
The secondary characters especially the twins are hysterical and really bring the whole book to life.
I absolutely recommend this story, you will not be disappointed!!
Hometown Hitman definitely targets the heart. If you want a wonderful second chance love this book is for you. A quick, exciting, a bit of suspense and heat with perfect characters must read. With the cutest quote from Lynch ( something like... We have to get our story and happy ending ) Jacob Chance you didn't disappoint you never do. Hats off to Lynch and Whitney. Keep doing what you do ;) Krisha reader and KJ's Hot Reads Approved
This is the perfect summer read, Jacob Chance has written another story with the perfect amounts of all the things you need in a story.
Lynch is called back home, a home he hasn’t been back to in 15 years. Once he gets there he is pulled right into family drama and the arms of Whitney, his high school sweetheart.
This is a super quick read that is going to grab your attention and keep it through out the entire story. Jacob always gives us the emotion, suspense and the perfect amount of heat. I loved this one for sure!
Loved it! Jacob has another “hit” on his hands here, one that checks all the boxes! Small town, suspense, humor and of course sexy heat! Lynch and Whitney have all the chemistry and back and forth banter that I love in my characters!
I love suspense with a mixture of comedy. Jacob gave the right amount of both in this second chance story. Lynch was so funny almost with a Winters Bro attitude toward the bad guys. Loved him. Swoony, sexy and Alpha. Whitney was a take charge , I do what I want type a girl and I loved it. She and Lynch together brought back their high school chemistry and was so romantically sweet.
If you love fast paced romantic suspense you will definitely want to read Hometown Hitman!! It’s a quick read filled with tons of action, a little who-done-it, goofy cousins, and a swoony second chance for Lynch & Whit💕
Fave quotes: “What the fuck just happened?” I whisper. Taking the seat next to mine, Ashley shifts until she’s facing me. “I’m not sure, but Lynch was a freaking badass,” she squeals. Her excitement baffles me. “What?” My mouth drops open. “That was some Jason Bourne shit right there.” She throws some air punches. “Ashley, this is real life, not an action movie.” “Yeah, but it was kind of like one, wasn’t it?”😍
“You guys should hit the buffet before all the chicken tenders are gone,” Ricky interrupts, setting his plate down on the table. A muscle in Lynch’s cheek tics under his skin. “I’m not hungry.” “Dude, you don’t know what you’re missing out on. They’re so… what’s that word? Moist.” He laughs. “I don’t know why women hate that word so much. It’s got a nice ring to it. Mooooist,”🙄🤣🤣
Hometown Hitman was perfect. It has humor, romance and suspense. Lynch and Whitney were more than passionate, their chemistry was attractive. I loved it from start to finish. Great read
I loved Lynch and Whitney's short, second chance story. For me, it ticks all the boxes I usually need for a second chance. And though it's a quick read, it has all the feels and it doesn't feel insufficient. And I loved their characters too, along with the side characters who add more entertainment to the story.
Suspense, steam, comedy, and a reunion fifteen years in the making Hometown Hitman is everything you want all in one book. Jacob Chance has written another amazing story that will have your heart skipping a beat. After having her heartbroken, Whitney felt she would never find the one. Lynch was always in her heart but he shattered her. She’s a business woman who pays attention to the details. Strong willed and fearless, Whitney doesn’t let anything stop her except what goes on in her personal life. But Lynch’s return turns her world inside out and her fears are brought to the ssurface once again. Lynch works for the CIA and returns to his hometown for a family emergency. Due to his job, he is not one to settle down until he sees Whitney after fifteen years apart.will he be able to win her back and leave his career behind? Or is their reunion doomed from the start? The supporting characters play an important role throughout the story. Ricky and Wayne, Lynch’s cousins, are hilarious. Ashley, Whitney’s best friend, is funny in her own way while being supportive of her best friend. Other characters have roles that bring the story together. Full of suspense, the storyline has you guessing what will happen next with some unexpected twists and turns along the way. As the story progresses, we see the rekindling of a long lost relationship, family becoming closer, and some death and destruction along the way. Hometown Hitman was a blast to read. I’m hoping some of the characters get their own stories. Thus is a definite must add to your reading list.

Most Excellent read. It has everything rolled up in one fantastic storyline. It’s full of humor, suspense, and romance with wonderful characters that I fell in love with. All of which is written in Mr. Chance’s style and flare for the written word.
We met Lynch in the previous read, Honeymoon Hitman, when he killed a rogue agent. Trouble is, that puts a target on his back. So at his bosses instistance, Lynch is forced to lay low for a while. Of course laying low for someone like Lynch isn’t very easy. Especially when he’s having to look over his shoulder every step of the day. When an emergency calls him home to the small town of Albans Cove, he thinks he’s found the perfect place to lay low. But it also brings him face to face with Whitney, the girl he left behind 15 years ago without even saying goodbye. A girl who has turned into a stunning woman who still holds a place in his heart. Is there still a chance for him with Whit all these years later or will his past and current agency troubles follow him and threaten all he holds dear?
Great read that this reader highly recommends grabbing up. 2 Thumbs Up and 5 Stars
Hometown Hitman is a great balance between suspense and a romcom. Once you start this book you will not want to put it down so be prepared to read in one sitting. Lynch and Whitney both were great and their journey to HEA while bumpy at times was a perfect small town second chance romance. Lynch was a badass who seems to have trouble follow him wherever he goes. He would stop at nothing to protect those around him even if it means risking his own life. Whitney was a perfect balance of a sweet small town girl and a woman who took no crap from anyone. Jacob suspense is my favorite suspense, he keeps you at the edge of your seat all while making you laugh and swoon. It’s really something I haven’t come across in any other suspense book. The sarcastic one liners in all his books get me every time and this one was no different. While Lynch was definitely the more serious guy the side characters brought the one liners that had me laughing all the way through.
If you haven’t read Jacobs suspense before I highly recommend picking up this series. Jacob has a way of bringing you into the story and some of those scenes played out like an action movie in my head.
Jacob Chance delivers another summer hit with Hometown Hitman.
Lynch left behind small town life fifteen years ago when he joined the military and became an elite operative. You don't just lose those skills when you leave the military; instead he transitioned into the CIA and continued doing what he does best. But even the best laid plans go awry sometimes. There's some sort of a burn notice on him. To top that off, a family emergency lands him back in his small hometown. Between finding the men responsible for shooting his uncle and dispatching the agents trying to kill him, the sleepy little town isn't quite so sleepy anymore.
The one good thing about going home is reconnecting with his high-school girlfriend, Whitney. Little Whit is all grown up and Lynch realizes how much he's been missing out on! Lynch and Whit were perfect together. The chemistry was great but their familiarity really made them feel special. The book is full of colorful characters! On occasion the disjointed back and forth was a little hard to follow but the book was sexy and silly and an overall great read!
This book was so good, it was funny, suspenseful and had great chemistry. I really enjoyed this second chance romance that had my emotions all over the place.
Loved this from start to finish! I love a good second chance love stories, and this blended with mystery and intrigue regarding Lynch and his “need to know” job at a three letter government entity. I thought how well the characters were developed was great: Whitney wasn’t all bitter and shrewish towards Lynch once they’re back in the same orbit, and Lynch was smart enough to realize how much his departure immediately after high school hurt Whitney. Throw in some suspense that may (or not) have followed Lynch back to Albans Cove and that kept me engaged in the story so much I finished reading it in one sitting.
Jacob Chance doesn't know how to do anything wrong when it comes to writing winning stories. He's done it again with HOMETOWN HITMAN, a smalltown romantic suspense that has plenty of his wonderful humour woven throughout. Never ever have his words disappointed me, and I'm thrilled to say they haven't again.
Lynch, who was introduced in Honeymoon Hitman has returned home after a fifteen year absence, and of course nothing is going to be easy for him. Not only does he become embroiled in his family's drama, he also comes face to face with his high school sweetheart Whitney, the woman he left behind, the woman who meant everything to him.
Lynch has become a marked man and is told to lay low by his boss, but since returning home he's done everything but that. Seeing Whitney again reopens his heart, but can he allow her into his world? Whitney has taken over ownership of her mother's bar, she's strong and feisty and can stand up for herself, except when Lynch shows up. He makes her pulse rate quicken, but can she love a man whose life is surrounded by constant danger? I loved the way in which their relationship developed, it was passionate, honest, and oh so steamy.
HOMETOWN HITMAN is another mandatory read from Jacob. He certainly knows how to keep his readers entertained with his dry humour, one-liners, heated scenes, and the touches of suspense he throws into his stories. A highly recommended read.
Lynch returns to his small hometown when there is a family emergency, as town he left behind 15-years previously. Lynch soon learns that everything has changed, including Whitney, his high school sweetheart that he left behind. Whitney is now the owner of the town’s inn and bar, and she is now a little spitfire, and not the shy girl she used to be. Being back in town stirs up memories and feeling for Lynch, but will he have danger following him home? This is a well written story which is a small-town 2nd chance romance, with chemistry, family, suspense, humor, witty banter, drama, mystery, intrigue, emotions, and love, which leads to a steamy, entertaining, and thrilling page turner. I received a free copy of this book via Enticing Journey Book Promotions and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Jacob Chance once again delivers an exceptional story packed full of mystery, suspense, steam, and romance. I loved Honeymoon Hitman and couldn’t wait to read more from this series and am extremely happy with Hometown Hitman. It’s a small town second chance romcom that kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. I couldn’t put it down and was up to the wee hours of the morning to finish it.🖤Lynch and Whitney’s journey had some twist and turns along the way that weren’t exactly easy to face, but these two faced them head on with their chins held high and it made for their journey and more realistic and their HEA ending more beautiful.
If you’re looking for a phenomenally written, amazing romance with a kick of action that will also make you laugh then grab your copy of Hometown Hitman now. I promise you won’t regret it!!
In this delightful second installment of the the series, Lynch, who works for the CIA, is being used as bait to smoke out bad operators in the organization. When things get too hot, he has to leave town. The timing is right, because a family emergency calls him back to his old hometown. Whitney is the local barkeep, as well as the local inn owner of Albon's Cove. She's tough and fearless, but inside she is still nursing a heartbreak from over 15 years ago. Imagine her surprise, when Lynch arrives back in town. She hopes her heart is up for it. After all, he's the one who broke her heart. In this small town, second chance romance, there is great snarky humor, smoking chemistry and the kind of small town closeness that can either suffocate you, or make you appreciate the locals. It's a fun, flirty read.
