ARC Shifters #9

Hidden Promise

Rate this book
Sadie was just an average teenager, or so she thought.

The night of her senior prom everything changes leaving her beautiful dress in rags strewn across her front lawn while she cowers under the porch terrified and covered in fur. As a halfbreed human/wolf shifter, the Pack Alpha put a gag order in place on the night of her birth. If she never got a wolf, she would live her life oblivious of her father's heritage in the human world. But if her wolf surfaced, then and only then would she be told of their world.

Lies, betrayal, and fear plague her as she discovers a reality she never dreamed could exist. And when she doesn't immediately fall into place in the Pack, she's shipped off the Archibald Reynolds College to study the history of shifters in summer school.

Pete has secrets of his own. Things he can't bring himself to talk to his fraternity brothers at the doghouse about. He should have graduated already, but some things were just out of his control. Now he's stuck in summer classes finishing up the remainder of his degree with no plans for the future.

He's all alone in the world. That is, until he catches a whiff of the pretty new girl with an enormous chip on her shoulder and he knows she's his one true mate. The problem is, she has no idea what that even means.

Another wonderful add on to the ARC Shifters. Sadie and Pete both struggle with trust. Sadies father never told her she may be a wolf shifter. She finds out the hard way alone on prom night. Trust is broken and she is forced in to a life she didn't plan for and is sent to ARC for summer. Pete's is a senor at ARC and just found out he won't be graduating with his brothers. Banished by his Alpha for things out of his control he has to work a crazy amount of hours even for a shifter. He is Depressed he'll have to stay at ARC for the summer untill he catches a scent he can't ignore...... Maybe one summer won't be so bad.!!!!

This was wild. I had a hard time getting past Sadie's age. She's super young (a month after graduating high school). But otherwise the story was so fun! She's on ARC campus for a summer class with some buddies, and meets Pete, the angstiest DOG in the DOG house. I get it, he has had some tough stuff happen. But I don't love the non-communication (miscommunication) troupe, so he frustrated me a little bit. I did love the resolution of the story though!

Julie has done it again, this book was so good it was hard to put down for even a minute! Sadie and Pete really balanced each other out! this book had moments of laughter and moments of great sadness and everything in-between... there were moments I just wanted to climb in the book and smack someone (aka Denny). However that just made Sadie and Pete's story that much more special.

Hidden Promise de Julie Trettel serie ARC Shifters libro 9

Argumento:

Archibald Reynolds College or ARC for short is an academy built for Shifters and the mission, there, is to educate shifters so that they thrive in the world. Although the Dean is human, the Academy population is comprised of shifters of all types.
Because of a decision made by his parents, Pete, even if he was not aware that decision, was banished from the pack by the Alpha for the unique reason that he was the son of a couple who defied and pissed off the Pack Alpha. So, Pete must work twice as hard than any other student, in order to pay for his education as well as survival.

Sadie is a normal 17 years old young woman who, on her eighteenth birthday, finds herself hidden under her own front porch naked except for the fur sprouting on all of her body, her long teeth's and ears as well as the tail at her back. Needless to say that she freaks out. When confronted, her father confirms, with pride, that Sadie is the daughter of a Wolfe Shifter male and a human female who died while giving birth.
She is then forced to submit to the pack Alpha, train with other wolves and accept that her life as she knew it is over. However she wants to perfect her education and wishes to do that at a human college that her mom attended.

It is decided that she, along with three other wolves will attend summer school at the ARC to learn shifter history.
At about the same time, Pete learns that he has failed "Shifter History" and that, although he will be permitted to "graduate" with his classmates, he will not get his diploma unless he attends the summer session of Shifter History and passes the course.

The author, using her gift, takes the reader on a virtual tour of college life, pack life as well as fated mates life and all that this entails.
The plot is great, the writing well researched and, the characters are funny even faced with peculiar circumstances. A page turner, I rate this book 5 Stars and Highly recommend it.

A definite must read series

I usually don't read the younger adult stories, they're just not my thing. However, after I had read some of the other series by this author that included some of the characters from this series, I knew I had to at least give it a try. I'm really happy that I did, because this has been an incredible series, and of course it just keeps getting better and better.
This story was heartbreaking, emotional, full of drama, humorous, and intriguing. The overall story was a bit different from the previous books, not as suspenseful, but I enjoyed getting to know the characters on a more emotional level. I'm really looking forward to reading more from this series, and can't wait for the next release!
I would highly recommend reading the following series prior to beginning this one. It's not necessary to enjoy this series, but it will give you a better understanding of the characters, the different Packs, the family and friends connections, and the dynamics between all of them. There's quite a bit of character crossover in between all of the series, so you'll get to learn more about the characters after their own stories. They're all absolutely fantastic stories, and you definitely won't be disappointed! I would recommend this reading order, or you can check out the authors website for the recommended order.
Westin Pack series, Collier Pack series, Westin Force series, and finally ARC Shifters series. There's also a new series coming out soon, Westin Force Delta series! I am sooo looking forward to that! Hope you enjoy them all!
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.

Pallas cat beta Luke Devereaux met his true mate, bush dog, Blair Kendrick when she was 12 and immediately sought her parents. Against Blair’s overbearing, scheming mom, Noel’s wishes, Luke asks for reasonable access and visitation with Blair and a mating when she’s of age. Blair eagerly agrees and familiarity gives her Pallas cat comfort, friends and enemies.

At 18, odd gifts and notes appear on Blair’s doorstep. Noel and Blair’s uncle /alpha don’t take it seriously but insist it’s being investigated and forbid her to tell Luke. When the dead body of one of Luke’s exes dead body is gifted to her and Blair calls Luke against her about it. He brings her to the Pallas cat pride upsetting Noelle.

Meanwhile, Blair’s stalker ramps up his activity with calls in addition to gifts as female pallas cat enforcer’s increases her campaign to unseat Luke and block Blair from a power position. Plus, Noel doesn’t stop trying to break up Blair and Luke. Also, the Pallas cats get a lead and some get back on a poacher ring.

Hmm, to this reader’s taste this overall bland outing was quite the patchwork quilt with little bits stitched together but not necessarily flowing easily from one piece to the other.

Loved this read, couldn’t put it down. Sadie is new to being a shifter and can’t really understand why she was kept in the dark, she’s stubborn and irritated by being told what to do by her alpha but opts to go to the ARC for the summer as designated by the alpha, along with her friends. Pete has been struggling for months, ashamed of his circumstances he decides to move forward with his life and although hard, he’s getting on with it, but what happens when your life’s perspective changes because of those circumstances? Has fate stepped in to give Pete what he needs in his life? Will Sadie be happy about meeting her true mate?
Loved this story and plot, a bit different but amazing. Great characters past and present. A fair bit of angst, but not overly so. I have to say Remy kind of bugged me, always sticking his nose in without all the facts, but that’s what best friends are for. Some very sweet moments, and some great love scenes. Sadie and Pete are a very cute couple and I’m glad they didn’t get too stressed by the mating. A hard scene or two gave us a bit of heartbreak but overall a fabulous read and lovely HEA for Sadie and Pete.

I love all of Julie Trettel’s books, she’s an incredibly talented author. This story was just as masterfully woven as the previous ones, and I would like to give this book a 5 out of 5 review when it comes to the thorough work the author put in to it.

This book is part of a series, it could be read as a standalone, but if you want the full backstory, start from the beginning of the series.

Now to the story.

Sadie never knew she was a shifter until she actually shifted for the first time. Pete is a DOG (Delta Omega Gamma), and also a wolf shifter. They meet, sort of, and the rest is history, sort of. If it was 100 % done after they meet, it wouldn’t make for a very interesting story to read.

I usually give any story by Julie Trettel a 5 star review, no questions asked, because I love her books so much. That is also the case with this one. It is just as well written as her other ones, and the story is solid.

This is a really good book, you should definitely read it!

Julie Trettel does it again! This is the story of Pete and Sadie both wolf shifters with issues.

Imagine finding out that the life you have been happily living is a lie and everyone but you know it… That is Sadie’s new reality! She has to learn and adapt quickly! She is sent to Archibald Reynolds College to take a class to help her acclimate to her new reality.

Now imagine working and preparing for college graduation to find out you don’t get to graduate with all your friends… Pete is a senior at Archibald Reynolds and has just failed the easiest class on the planet. A class that is required for graduation. He is given the option to retake it over the summer so that he can graduate. What’s a boy to do? Retake the class that’s what!

It’s boy with meets girl, with a twist. Julie takes thoughtfully through the feelings of anger, betrayal, depression, anxiety, love and acceptance with the deft hand that she is know for. I absolutely loved this story and you will too.

So Amazing

May contain spoilers-
I received and advanced copy.
This is the first ARC shifter book I have read. This book was amazing I loved Sadie, she is such a genuinely awesome character. From the way she handles being a wolf shifter to how she handles finding her mate, to the friendships she has with all the other characters. She is a fierce and feisty and very loyal to her family friends and mate. Pete our male lead character is a strong sweet guy who’s only goal in life is to better himself, find where he belongs and it becomes even more apparent when he meets his mate Sadie. His character is so hard working and driven. They work through their issues to become a true mate pair and begin their lives together. This book sold me and I now will be going back to read the rest of them and then read future books as they come! Thank you Julie this book was the bomb!

Julie Trettel delivers on all the goodness I want in a shifter romance.

One of the things I appreciate about this author is the world building and supporting/connecting characters.

I will be honest, Pete was not a side character that had me waiting anxiously for his book. However, this is a book I loved.

Sadie’s journey is one I really appreciated. Being raised more in the human world, feeling the need to stay connected to the human legacy her mother left her and dealing with the deceptive treatment her “pack”, made her a compelling character to read.

Pete brings his own challenges to the table but accepting his mate is not one. This is very satisfying read to get to the HEA for this couple.

OMG! I don’t know how she does it, but each new story tops the previous 5 star book! “Hidden Promise” is the 9th fan-freaking-tastic, page-turner from the amazing must read series, ‘ARC, Shifters’ college ! ... It grabbed me from the start & I could not put it down! ... With a fresh, new, storyline & always relatable characters, both new and old friends! Add in the ‘push-me-away, pull-me-close’ chemistry between the H/h Pete & Sadie and clever dialogue had my emotions in a jumble from sad to the HEA! ... Awesome descriptions with surprise twists & turns will keep readers turning pages like crazy! I honestly recommend this to all adult 18+ fans of fiction & again, I can't wait for more, but of course I always will!

Julie Trettel has done it again, this book is amazing and you have to keep reading until you finish. Sadie’s and Pete’s story is emotional, sweet, heartbreaking and adorable as they both have to come to terms with changes. Sadie has learnt that she is a shifter and is having trouble with her new life. Pete is struggling to get his classes complete due to changing circumstances. Can they sort themselves and their mating out? This is a heartfelt page turner and leads you on an emotional rollercoaster. I love the wider relationships with the series and the linked characters. This needs reading!!

I was lucky to receive an ARC free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Amazing!

Julie Trettel has done it again! Hidden Promise will give you all the feels and have you unable to put the book down!

Sadie has been raised human and gets the surprise of her life on prom night. Pete is a quiet loner with a secret he's hiding from everyone. They meeting during the summer semester at college, and watching their relationship grow is beautiful.

You get to meet new characters and see some old ones that we all love! I can't wait to see what Pete and Sadie get up to next!

This is a standalone HEA, however it is recommended to read it in series order.

I loved this book!

This is the 9th book in Julie Trettel's ARC series, each book is a stand alone but characters do reappear throughout the series.

I never expected Pete to be a MC in the series, he never grabbed my attention like other characters have. Pete feels broken and unworthy, Sadie has trust issues but together they have so much potential. Hidden Promise highlights them so well, it may not be the story you thought you wanted but you'd be so glad it's the story Julie Trettel gave you.

Amazing!

Pete and Sadie!! I loved their story, we finally get to see why Pete wasn't around as much in the other books. His life changes completely when he's is banished from his pack, he is struggling, but all that changes when he meets his true mate. Sadie just learned she's a wolf shifter after living as a human for 18 years she can't belive there was a whole other world that her father and best friend were a part of and did not tell her. Sadie and Pete's story is sweet and full of love a little heart break. Amazing story a must read!!

Julie has done it again and written another amazing book. Hidden Promise was was such a great book I could t put it down until I finished it. Pete and Sadie are so perfect for each other. I have to say I did shed tears several times throughout this book. This is truly one of my absolute favorite books in this series. My heart just hurt for Pete because some of the struggles he went through. If you haven’t read this book go right now and get it you won’t be disappointed !

I love Ms Trettel's books and always look forward to reading them.
This is Pete and Sadie's book it was a good book probably the one with the least drama in it cause their dramas weren't really that big. I would've thought their biggest hurdle would've been her not accepting the true mate bond cause it was something new to her and to rebel against like she first did against the Alpha and the pack ! But saying that I still enjoyed it cause this author's books are always written and I loved seeing some of westin pack at the end !

This was such a fun read! I wasn't sure how things would play out when the main characters had such frustrating circumstances around them but in true Julie Trettel fashion she made everything work out. I loved all the characters old and new except... Remy! A character this author created has never worked me up so much! I xo glad that the love connection could progress with him because he had me worried lol. I can't wait to see who's up next!

My only complaint with this book is the epilogue felt rushed, but the bonus scene from Pete helped. I love Sadie and how she is surviving in a whole new world. I love seeing all the new characters and I’m interested to see if we get books about them. It was nice to see the previous characters come together to support Pete. Sadie and Pete’s meeting for the first time was perfect. I love Dennys retelling of it.

Loved this book!

I was anxiously awaiting this book and it did not disappoint. I was worried if there would be enough drama considering the couple was not fighting their bond but Ms. Trettel did not disappoint. Not only did she manage to include plenty of drama, but it all seemed so natural and not manufactured. I could easily see why each of them struggled. And of course I always love catching glimpes of those we met in previous books. Another home run for Ms. Trettel!

Failure

XXX! Adult content, reader discretion advised. Pete was always a bloody bastard. Turns out he had good reason. Sadie was clueless. Then she got her wolf and she was terrified and pissed. Again rightfully so. They met at a college summer class. They have a bloody courting.

Worth the wait!!

I read this book as an ARC, but purchased it on release day.

Sadie’s story is a little sad, but she’s made a good life for herself with her dad - until prom night…

Pete thought his life was set, until his parents had other thoughts.

Fate brought them together and they way Julie told it was wonderful. It was so nice not to see either of them fight what they were to each other.

And the bonus scene (not in the ARC) was a nice treat! Fab to see that even after what happened to Pete, his worth of being just him was more than enough to so many.

Promised love

I loved Pete and Sadie's story. It was crazy what her pack did to her and I'm sure it was extremely hard for her father . and for Pete to hold all his worries in I'm sure was hard as well. The story line was amazing and to read about new characters and catch up with old ones was nice. With the ARC Julie could take this world on for ever!

I enjoyed that both had there own issues going on, but there mating was smoother than others. It showed how both over came problems and resolved them. This was still dramatic, suspenseful, filled with chemistry and mystery.

Enjoyable

I liked this book. It's a cute story, not as intense as the earlier ARC series, but then again Pete isn't as intense as the other males. It was quite laid back and enjoyable.
