I honestly have no idea how to rate this because I feel this is so outside of what I usually read that I was super surprised that by the end I was already itching to check out the next omnibus from my library!

I VERY vaguely knew what Tokyo Revengers was about (though was fairly familiar with the characters) and think I sort of came in with the idea of it centering around a bunch of fighting, but was pleasantly surprised that this isn't all the story is. It definitely has a lot of good fight scenes (though I totally confess I skimmed/skipped a lot of them because it hurt to see how brutal some of the fighting actually was), but once we get into the "time leaping," I was super engaged, especially when it came to Takemichi.

I really admired how brave he was because I don't think I could do even HALF of the things he is doing or trying to do. His courage and determination to do ALL he can to save Hina and his friends make the story extremely engaging and definitely want to keep reading to see if he will indeed save them.

I think Takemichi so far is my favorite character? I did really like Naoto though! Hina is AMAZING! I honestly hope things will change and that her and Takemichi will continue to be together (though ughhhh way to screw things up their past Takemichi ;p).

Overall, I'm surprised how much I liked this! I decided to finally read this first omnibus so I could say I actually read something off my bookshelf and was caught off guard how this became more engaging and immersive as I read.

Takemichi este un bărbat slab, încă din adolescență s-a lăsat călcat în picioare de alții, și-a cerut mereu scuze, dar era și un plângăcios, asta fiind și unul dintre motivele pentru care cei mai duri se legau de el. În prezent, urmărind știrile, află că iubita lui din adolescență a murit și dintr-o dată se vede teleportat în urmă cu 12 ani, unde este nevoit să intre în grațiile lui Mikey și Draken, liderii bandei Tokio Manji.

Acesta e doar începutut, întrucât Takemichi se vede prins într-un conflict mult mai mare decât pare și este pus la grea încercare, tot ceea ce-și dorește el este să salveze viețile celor dragi, însă nu este atât de ușor pe cât crede, trădarea bate la ușă, pericolul pândește după colț, iar încrederea este des înșelată…

O serie violentă, plină de delincvenți adolescenți, unii dintre ei se cred buricul pământului, dar doar fac umbră pământului degeaba, multe conflicte sângeroase și chiar mortale, uneori, unde trecutul și prezentul sunt în continuă schimbare. O serie care demonstrează cât de puternică poate fi o prietenie și-n ciuda durității unor personaje, sufletul le este blând și plin de compasiune, aparențele sunt cât se poate de înșelătoare, inducând în eroare la fiecare pas.

Sincer vă spun, că mi s-a încurcat limba-n gură de câteva ori încercând să pronunț numele unor personaje și chiar făceam confuzie între ele, având nume asemănătoare, am dus o adevărată luptă 🤣, doar nu era ca doar personajele să se lupte între ele, ci și eu cu ele 🙈🤣. Exceptând a mea străduință, am adorat fiecare capitol din aceste patru volume și mi-aș mai fi dorit să fie apărut încă unul, la cât de blocată m-a lăsat finalul volumului patru. Sper și-mi doresc o evoluție demnă a lui Takemichi, băiatul ăsta n-are deloc timp de respiro și toate cad pe umerii pui, desi vreau să mă izbească corespunzător în volumul următor.

Evident că m-am îndrăgostit și de Draken, acest bad boy al Tokio-ului, mi-a intrat sub piele instant, cred că tatuajul a fost de vină 🫣, am avut eu un feeling că e mai mult decât lasă la vedere, la fel și Mikey, căci și de el mi-a fost drag, nu la fel de mult ca de Draken, dar s-a simțit afecțiunea pentru el.

Un volum manga ce are ca temă principală călătoria în timp? Count me in! Știți deja că am prins gustul cărților manga datorită imprintului Nezumi al Editurii Nemira, așa că nu aveam cum să ratez și noua serie scrisă de Ken Wakui - Justițiarii din Tokio. Am dat peste o poveste cu un ritm accelerat, multă acțiune, bad boys și time travelling.
Takemichi Hanagaki are 26 de ani și lucrează cu jumătate de normă. Din băiatul rău din copilărie a ajuns să își ducă traiul de azi pe mâine. Însă poate că e mai bine așa, având în vedere că în școala generală Banda Tokio Manji ori îl putea omorî în bătaie, ori îl putea racola ca membru de temut. Însă acum Takemichi află că iubita lui din timpul școlii a murit din cauza acestui grup de delincvenți. Ceea ce află și el, cu stupoare, este că o poate salva, și asta pentru că poate călători înapoi în timp. Însă va putea el, un pierde-vară, să schimbe trecutul și să salveze fata de la o moarte iminentă?

I kept hearing about this series, so I decided to finally give it a try. It mostly lived up to the hype.

There are a couple things I struggled with this series, the characters are almost all street gangers who do stuff that really makes them bad people. As you learn more you learn some of them might not be that bad... but they are still beating people up constantly, tormenting people, and just generally being crap people. Some of the scenes are absolutely brutal.

There is also some homophobic language, and sexual violence, that I found wasn't really needed

If that won't bother you, at its core there is a really interesting and compelling story here. It combines time travel, with examining how small choices in our teen years impact our trajectory in big ways. Our main character is interesting in he is not super strong, unlike most anime protagonists, and grows as the story goes.

Takemichi finds out his former girlfriend is killed but also discovers that he can travel background in time with the help of the girlfriend's brother.

What I liked:
I liked the progression of the characters, Takemichi, Mickey, Draken and Aken.
The story had a nice pace. The art is very clear and well done and I love the goofy moments and the fact that the artwork turns goofy as well, only for those moments.

What I disliked:
In the beginning everyone is beating up Takemichi, but after a while he starts standing up for himself but those first chapters as a "slave" were pretty rough.
Hinata, the girlfriend, is still pretty one-dimensional. I would like more background on her.

I am very curious about book 3 where we will get the showroom with the Moebius gang!

Took me stupid long to read this because I was focused on Mistborn but I sat down and read the rest of it this morning and just wow. A great plot with lots going for it and delivering on all of the elements, with a great cast of characters to boot with some promising arcs which I can’t wait to see how they play out.

Rounding down because the art is inconsistent to me. I like the series though (at least what I've seen/read). Sucks that they have to have an entire page dedicated to the manji symbol at the beginning because the f*cking nazis stole it and made it into something evil.

Oh my God… wow. I can’t believe I didn’t start this series sooner. I’m in love with the art style, the story, the characters… everything is amazing. I own volumes 3 and 4 and I plan on reading ASAP, and bought volumes 5-8 because I know I’m gonna read through these so fast. This may actually fill the AOT sized void in my heart and I didn’t think that was possible.

I absolutely loved the live-action adaptations of this manga series, so of course, I had to read them as well. This omnibus of the first two volumes was such an enjoyable and exciting manga! I'm absolutely hooked. The time travel concept is so interesting, and overall, the story is thrilling and packed with action. It's a recommendation for fans of mangas!
