I was born and raised in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Wanting to escape life in a big city and concentrate more on working to live than living to work, I moved to the Outer Hebrides in the north-west of Scotland in 2004 and I have lived there ever since with my wife and dogs.
I write post-apocalyptic, sci-fi, dystopian and horror fiction. I’ve released fifty one books across six different series - Safe Haven, The End of Everything, Unsafe, Relentless, The Burning Tree and Scares in Scotland.
In addition, most of my titles are now available as audiobooks narrated by Kim Bretton, so if you’re one of the many people who struggle to find the time to read, you can listen on the go.

This character driven, emotionally charged tale grabs your attention from the get go and never lets up.The group has one calamity after another occur yet somehow find a way to rise above them and keep on going. They have found new allies but unfortunately also new foes. I'm looking forward to the next book to see what happens next.
This is the third book in the series and tells the story of what happened after the meteorite hits the earth and wipes everything out. The first book Salvation tells us about the underground bunker that many survived in. The next book is about their escape. In this one we discover that other communities also survived.
Our main group of characters are now established at the farm and building a life for themselves. When a young boy loses his leg, a party sets out on a search for antibiotics.
Cally is in the group that leads the search back to Salvation. Things don’t go to plan, and they just about escape. As they make their journey they have other encounters along the way which causes them to fight for survival. Eventually, they land in the Infinity of the book title.
The original baddy in book one, Greenslade, changed under Cally’s influence and determination. He and his sidekick Trunk, sacrificed themselves for the group. That’s what I disliked about the story. How could they do that? It put a cloud over things as I turned the page hoping for a miracle that didn’t seem to come. That was until a reached the epilogue. What a wonderful end to the story.
This is a great survival trilogy that deals with all aspects of human nature. It will appeal to those who love the human spirit and champion those who consistently try to make the world a better place.
This can’t be the end, though. I want more. There is still plenty for these characters to see and do, and I want to be part of it!
Excellent job on this book. There is so much scary stuff happening in this part of the story. There is also a lot of hopeful events. A lot of great new characters too. Ok Mr Artinian you need to hurry and write the next one. I'm dying for more.
I listened to the omnibus of books one through five, and since I just burned straight through, I don't remember where one book ended and the next began. So, this review is for the first five books. I'll post it on all five.
This series wasn't bad. The dystopia that formed in the bunker was depressingly realistic, as was the amount of strife and corruption in/between the groups outside it. All in all, the series was engaging enough for me to listen to five books, which is saying something, but there were a few issues.
There were too many inspiring speeches, for one. I can get behind one or two of these, but there were points where it felt like one character or another was making an inspiring speech every chapter, and that's just too much for me.
There were also too many occasions of characters being staunchly opposed to a thing that they were advocating for on a larger scale in a prior chapter/book, suddenly arguing tooth and nail against it, only to give in after their own prior arguments were laid out for them and basically (grudgingly) saying, "I suppose you've got a point." People don't typically backtrack on principals they're willing to risk death for just a few days later. People also don't give in to logic so easily when their emotions are high enough for them to start vicious name calling or outright getting violent. The fact that people who were okay starting a settlement with 18,000 people were then convinced it was impossible to do so with such an enormous number as 3,500 people irked me.
The author clearly put some time into researching a few plants that most people consider weeds but are actually edible, which I appreciate. I wish there had been routine mention of more of them than seaweed and dandelions, but it was still nice to see foraging considered a viable dietary supplement. The evaporation pools for salt was a really good addition too.
There were a few things that Phil Trainer (the farming/plant expert in the books) would've known that weren't mentioned, like the acidifying effect granite has on the soil near any large natural sources of granite and the potential use of lime to counteract/neutralize it, but I'm aware I'm getting way too picky expecting that to have been in there, even if Trainer is an expert. The only reason I know that is from watching a bunch of docuseries about farming through the ages, and I know that's not something most people do. Lol.
Infinity (The Burning Tree, Book 3) by Christopher Artinian and narrated by Kim Bretton is another great listen. This is my favorite of the series so far- it’s full of plot advancements, action, and heart. I recommend if you are a fan of post-apocalyptic survival.
What’s it about? The group is surviving despite the odds. All seems good until an accident leaves them scrabbling to save one of the children. The situation turns more urgent with every passing minute. Plot twists and turns, new folks, bad folks, friendships form, survival knowledge, developments galore, and it moves at a quicker pace/more action than the previous two books. Kim did a wonderful job as the narrator once more- vocalizes the characters and important elements perfectly. I look forward to more of this world and where Callie’s path takes her.
Callie: “And let me guess, you sold places in them to the highest bidders?” Eric:… “Your daughter’s just a joy to talk to, but I’m sure you get told that all the time, don’t you?”
“So, you’re just a bunch of working-class millionaires doing what you can to save humanity?”
“I’m Chloe. This one’s my dad...He’s here more time than he needs to be because he’s a control freak.” “Children. Don’t you just want to squeeze them until they’re blue in the face?”
“Most of the population of the planet has been wiped out, and there are still too many people for you.”
Parental guidance/trigger warnings (not writing all due to spoilers): it’s a post-apocalyptic world and not everyone is a ray of sunshine- some folks only care about themselves, some genuinely care about others/the world, and some are out to kill. Weapons, food shortage, struggling to survive, or like situations are prominent. Language used: Sx36.
*I was given a free review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you for allowing me to listen and review the book!
Another great book in a great series, written by one of my favorite authors! Just when you think that Christopher Artinian can't come up with anything new to plague his readers, BAM! And, don't expect any calm, peaceful times as you read this book. The action starts early and never lets you relax!
One of the things I like the most about this author's books is that the characters are so well-developed and become like friends or family. And, they definitely aren't saints and come complete with all the flaws a human has. The ones that you start out hating or mistrusting often become some of your favorite characters.
This book also continues to educate the reader in the various ways that someone might be better able to survive a post-apocalyptic world. Mr. Artinian has definitely done a lot of research in this aspect and I appreciate the time that he devoted to this.
There are also some thought provoking quotes that really stand out for me. "Sometimes things just happen and there's nothing anyone can do about it.""What the hell's wrong with people? They're never, ever going to change."
Another thing I love about these books is that the female characters, even the young ones, are awesome! You won't find a bunch of dependent, whiny women or girls within these pages and I would put any of the females up against a macho brute any day!
I look forward to continuing this series in Book 4 and can't wait to see what the author has in store for his characters next. Well done, Mr. Artinian, well done!
It was worth the wait!!! Omg there are some very unexpected shockers!!! The story is starting to unfold and lots of new opportunities and horrors opened up. Greenslade wow I've gone from hating this guy to kinda liking him by series 3 😁 Infinity was an amazing find and I'm looking forward to see how that develops. Some really good new characters arrived too . This series is just midblowing I tried hard to drag it out but it's pretty hard to put down. I can't wait for the audio book to come out for book 3 . The audiobooks take the series to a whole new level which I didn't think was possible. I've also read Safe Haven and The end of everything again both series are mindblowingly awesome and highly recommend anything by this author .
After so many month and reviewing many other audio books I had to go to the beginning and listen to the first two all over again so sure that the third one Infinity is the last of this incredible series but sadly and twice gladly the imagination and amazing brain of the author Christopher Artinian reinvented a perfection continuation to the series. As usual his amazing way of putting on paper feelings like fear, tension and much much more, passing it to his readers so easy is so incredible that I can definitely say that he is truly a master! And as usual the amazing narration voice of Kim Bretton is the only one that can complete and wrap the package into perfect audio like no other.
Without a doubt I recommend The Burning Tree series, To All !!!
Mr Artinian, I need to tell you off, I did not get anything done today as I could not wait to read a few chapters of this book. Only it was more than a few chapters, it was all of them. The group have made great progress on their new settlement, building and planting. So decide to spend time relaxing on the beach until an encounter sets events in motion. Will Callie and her group survive their journey through the charred land to find the much needed antibiotics? I have to say I really like Phil, his attitude is great, and he does make me laugh. I love the way Chris brings out the different characters of each person in his books. I can not wait for the next book. I did not want this story to end.
Another absolutely brilliant book from Chris. Right from the first chapter you are immediately immersed into another world, full of people you feel like you know. Each and every character are so different and well written that you feel a kinship with them all and you are holding your breath when they get into a scrape (there are a few heart stopping moments). Brilliant story and can’t wait to see what happens in the next one. Totally invested in this series and can’t recommend it enough.
I loved this book it was absolutely amazing, attention grabbing and filled with heart pounding excitement. I was hooked from the start, the plot was fast paced and action packed, and the relationship between Calli and Phil was moving and hilariously funny, and seeing the changes in Blake as the series progressed was a high point. Kim's narration was outstanding and helped the characters leap out of the book, her singing was hauntingly beautiful! I received this book in exchange for my honest review
I was so absorbed by the third book in this series, that once I started the audiobook, I had to listen to it until the very end. I think the third book was better than the second one. This series just gets better with each succeeding book. I recommend this series to others who enjoy this genre. Kim Bretton's narration was spectacular, and her performance engages the listener. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.
I didn’t realize I was at the end of the book when I heard the amazing Kim Bretton say ‘epilogue’ and I think I freaked out. This series is as good as TEOE & all other books Christopher has written. You would be happy with any and everything he puts out. I love it here characters and I love how Greenslade is getting the opportunity to redeem himself. Such brilliant character writing and development.
What a fantastic series The Burning Tree is . The story draws you in and you can't put it down . The characters are interesting and the humour and sarcasm of some of the characters is right up my street . It actually had me laughing out loud in some places ( could be a northern thing ) . Definitely recommend this series .
This is another great story for this awesome series. If have never read anything by this author then you are missing out! He creates great worlds, complex characters, intriguing storylines. It’s a fast pace thrill ride with lots of action. So get the books and leave your reviews!
As with all Mr Artinian's books, this series is another exciting and thrilling read. The 3rd book Infinity, is just as addictive as all the rest. I am continually transformed into the lives of Callie and the rest of the groups as they face the dangers and hardships of life above ground. One word. Brilliant!
I want more, intrigue, freedom. Fighting for their lives desperation. Al that and more. Give me more. Christopher Artinian. His writing, his books are not the kind you put down after a chapter. You just read and read more till it’s finished, then you still want more.
Absolutely loving the series Once again Chris is the master of creating fantastic characters and then putting them through a hellish situation Kim is hands down one of the best narrators in the business Highly recommend checking this out as I eagerly wait for the next one I received a free review audiobook and voluntarily left this review
Absolutely loved it. Really pleased to read the latest instalment in this series. Christopher Artinian has created characters that you actually have an interest in, good plot lines and engrossing stories. One of my favourite authors.
Well written novel about a cast of characters that are both interesting and feel real. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait for the next in the series. This author never disappoints!
As always, so well written. A must to read the whole series. A read you will find it difficult to not read in an entire sitting. I will be so waiting for the next installment.
Christopher Artinian is a master of apocalyptic fiction! He writes characters that you want to care about, or hate, depending on the situation. The storytelling is amazing! I highly recommend that you read his books!
I really enjoyed this third instalment of The Burning Tree series. It's such a different world that they are trying to survive. Great pacing and captivating plot. Well done. Look forward to the next one
So loved this book, brilliant characters and heart breaking horrors. I would like to know, if the garlic paste was a reality. What happened to dear Harry, and if he survived his horrific ordeal. Is there any follow up to come?
Great read as always with this series. It's always full of great characters who you can't help to live or have in equal measure. The stories evolves slot with each book release, can't wait for number 4.
Not as exciting as the first two books, but building up nicely for a fourth helping I’m sure. Still very enjoyable and informative on certain subjects that are close to the authors heart. Great third book of a great series 👍
Well, well, well, Book 3 is another hit and Callie and crew keeps finding edge of your seat adventures to get into.big question will Greenslade and trunk make it? The 2 guys you come to, maybe ,like a little.read on to find out.
another instalment to this amazing series. The characters grow and change, the wonders of nature continue to amaze and what man will do to man - good and bad - never ceases to deliver surprises.
Callie is one tough young lady! Phil is quite a trip, I actually relate well to him. I chose dogs over people every time. Starting a new way of life here has been exciting and I love how people are brought together the good, bad and the ugly. Keep them coming!
The 2nd part was just as good as the first. It's awesome!! The ride just keeps going. If this is even a portion of what it would be like after a massive event. I don't want to be there. Looking forward for part 3.
