Life as a merchant marine is not for the faint-hearted.
People are not easy. For Jozzun, living with a bunch of blunt-brained humans is even more difficult.
Especially when less than legitimate operations go from bad to worse…
The human saying, “may you live in interesting times” is starting to make sense to Jozzun. He finds himself wishing he’d considered the consequences of signing up to the crew of the Atlanta.
The crew are bound for trouble, or perhaps trouble is just bound for them.
Whatever the case may be, it is certainly going to ruffle the psychics’ feathers.
From pirates to shadowy conspiracies, and a crime boss that’s a little too hands-on for Jozzun’s tastes, the situation seems determined to become the worst kind of complicated.
Well, he did go looking for a life of adventure. This was what he wanted, right?

Hell to Pay Dark Angel Merchant Marines By Michael Anderle This is book #2 in the series. There certainly is enough action and space adventure in this one.☺️ We learn more about the cast of characters, and they get in some tight spots. They are bonding and becoming a strange family. I find that heartwarming. Even the "dogs" are a vital part of the team.
excellent, fast paced, fun, great book. saying all that, I am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.
First of all to Mr. Anderle, you say in your autobiography on the Amazon website, you have been reading science fiction all of your life or most of it and you don’t know anything about Doctor Who or the Doctor Who sonic screwdriver that he carries, shame on you. Sarah is right have her combine a list of the best Doctor Who shows to get you up to speed. Besides that I love this book and so far this series. The characters are fun engaging and have quite a bit of backstory to them. I read this book in one sitting and I usually don’t give books a five star rating. Those of you out there who are thinking about reading this book and series, please do! You will enjoy it immensely. There’s a lot development that could happen in this world and in the series now unfortunately I have to wait for the next book. It is full of camaraderie, Snark, action on ground as well as space. The only gripe I have is that I wish the crew had better equipment and weapons so they don’t fall into the trope as a lot of authors write characters Who have underwhelming tech, beleaguered, always fighting from an underdog status this happens to be what’s happening and a lot of books out there these days.
The crew of the Atalanta are trying their best to make the money they need, however they're able to, but the Red Crows, Daria's previous, and odious team, are determined to punish her, even though it was they who left her behind.
But, unlike them, the crew of the Atalanta are determined to save Daria, come what may, and this leads to a very dangerous standoff, that only Jozzun, the Xi-Trang, is able to help them with!
I really loved the way that the whole crew joined so well together, to use each of their strengths, in helping to defeat the Red Crows. I also love the way that, so far, each book has focused on a different member of the crew, to show us, the readers, a little of their backstory - I'm really hoping that this continues in the rest of the books.
But I'm now going straight on to Book One of the "Dead Evil Mercenary Corp' series: 'New Rules For Firefights', which is the next book in my chronological reads list, to see what happens next.
So, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think about this next adventure!
This was a fun addition to the series, plot is engaging, the characters are likable and relatively consistent, battles are well covered, and the overall dynamics are good. I'm going to take a break from this series now for a bit and go back to LITRPG, but I'll be back and looking forward to the next adventure!
As Daria and the crew move along, scraping and scraping from one crisis to another, a piece of her past rises up to attack her. Great action scenes and lots of asskicking
While book one spent a lot of time on character development, this volume is mainly action. Trial by fire to get the crew working together and feeling like a family. I look forward to book 3.
Books one and two have been packed with action. How life would be living with humans who work the way they do and a bird man who can read ones mind and influence you along with his thoughts. Read them you might like em.
