Nera, a woman with no home, no family, and no memories of why, finds herself in an unfamiliar world. Following an escape to a wooded paradise, she stumbles into a man who agrees to help her. But why? And what secrets does he have hidden behind the scars that trail his body.
Tarak, a man with a mission, a plan, and a destiny, finds himself a woman lost in the forest and with her, the opportunity to escape the path set in place since his birth. But what happens when his plans change and that opportunity turns into something more, something filled with passion and intrigue, something he desires more than freedom.
Ithesin, a kingdom filled with lies, secrets and more magic than even the nobility is aware of. It's splintering apart by the second and only the ones destined to lead it will be able to pull those frayed edges back together.
The Celestra is every fantasy-lover’s dream: to randomly wake up as the protagonist in an immaculate, magical land. The reader discovers this beautiful new world along with Nera and experiences every possible emotion along the way.
The Celestra is a perfect mix of a slow burn & banter-filled romance, action, magic, and mystery. The world building, scenery, and the descriptions of the people and animals were just immaculate. I felt like I was there and had this overwhelming desire to experience the beautiful, magical planet for myself.
I have been SOOO excited for this book to debut!!! I literally cannot get it out of my head and couldn’t even think about reading another book for days after finishing. Put down whatever else you are reading and put this at the top of your TBR list.
Inclusion: - anxiety disorder & strategies for handling it - LGBTQ+ representation - POC (the main protagonist is of mixed race and other characters as well) - Strong female lead character (brave AND anxious, sensitive AND determined,, quick-witted AND self-doubting) - Supportive, emotionally open male characters
Tropes - forbidden love - enemies to lovers - slow burn - “touch her and I’ll kill you” vibes - betrayal - found family - magic - memory loss - forced shared living area
Content Warnings: - war - violence - spice build up with fade to black - death - mention of deaths of children - some gory scenes
Up until about 3/4 of the way through, I really struggled with reading this book. I felt like it could’ve been cut down by at least 100 pages, everything is just way too drawn out and teased until the conflict really hits (which is way too late in the book). Once things actually started happening and the plot developing, I enjoyed the mystery and fantasy world. I really hope the pacing is better in the next installment, because the story has potential, the author just needs to work on excluding unnecessary sequences and just get to the point. Overall, just a meh read due to the lack of movement in the plot.
Am I incredibly confused and frustrated? Oh yeah. Is my heart freaking pounding right now?!? Heck yes. Is it 10 pm and I’m about to read book 2? F*** yes!
Y’all. Y’all.
Fantasy at it’s freaking best. I blame authors like these for my trust issues because who the heck am I suppose to trust!?!
Hannah. Darling. Why you do this to me?!
While I felt the beginning was a bit slow…I was on edge the entire time. I love books that make you slip right into the main character and you experience it right with them.

But what if they don’t want it?
Review: I had not idea what would be in store when I picked this up! All I knew was that I was going to love it and that it would be a new favorite! I was completely on the money because this is a new favorite series for sure! This book kept me on the edge! I needed to know who is Nera why were her memories erased! I wanted to know more and more about this world Hannah Till has created! The romance was chefs kiss! Perfect! I loved their chemistry! But that ending! I am gutted! I am devastated! I need to pick up book 2 ASAP! If you love fantasy romance, pick this up! You will be so happy you did!
I went into this book with no idea what to expect and WOW what an adventure. Hannah Till has woven a fantasy dream with an incredible protagonist, Nera, and a complex world full of magic, adventure, and deceit.
Unpacking a couple of characters, let’s start with Nera. I love the voice Till chose for her book, as it really dragged me into Nera’s head and I felt every moment of anxiety, anger, joy, sadness, love, et cetera that she feels through the course of The Celestra. Speaking of her anxiety, as someone who deals with anxiety in my own life, I really could relate to the internal struggles Nera faces and the coping mechanisms she employs. I really appreciate inclusion of these struggles in a heroine, as it makes me feel like even I can do amazing things regardless of my anxiety.
Tarak, the super hunky, broody, but a softy for the leading lady, love interest is so easy to love. He has the safety of a people on his shoulders and still manages to find and fall for a mysterious newcomer. As his story unfolds, he just gets better and better. What’s not to love?
The characters Till has written, and I mean every single one, are so multi-dimensional that it’s hard to decide whether you should like them or not. I found myself flipping my opinion on characters multiple times while reading, and I can completely understand why Nera has a hard time herself determining who to trust.
Till has written an incredibly beautiful world that serves as such an amazing backdrop to Nera’s journey, and as Nera is seeing it for the first time, I really love the detail Till has included in her descriptions. Her words really paint a mental picture and I find myself in awe of the scenery on a planet I can only see in my mind.
I’ve said it a thousand times but I am truly in awe of the fact that this is Hannah Till’s debut novel, and I absolutely cannot wait to dive into book 2.
The story captured me from the very first page. I was so invested in the story from the get go that I couldn’t put it down until I got to the last page. Thank god there will be a book two. This is perfect for the every day fantasy lover: new worlds, powers that belong to a select few, a badass leading lady, a man who radiates the “touch her and I’ll kill you” energy, plot twists, and so much more. 10/10 and I’m now excitedly awaiting to see what Hannah writes next!
I started this book and could not put it down! It is an amazing story and the world building is amazing! One of my favorite books I have read this year
Nera wakes and finds herself in an unknown environment. At first, she fears that she hooked up with someone the night before and will soon discover the mess she needs to escape to return home. Instead, she discovers, she's not on the wrong side of town, she has somehow transported to another planet. Luckily, everyone speaks a language she understands, and the weather is warm. Her last memory of New York City involved frigid January temps. Another problem arises when she realizes that, unlike the slovenly dives her hookups tended to land in, she's been kidnapped into a palace and the kidnappers have dressed her in satin and gold pjs—oh my! Better risk life and limb to escape this prison.
Might not have been my first reaction, but it's not about me. Ok, so Nera does escape, and she is rescued by a guy who lives in the trees. Yes, the trees ..., and she likes it. Well, I should mention that her rescuer is a young, tall, blonde, muscle-bound warrior. Makes the tree thing a bit more attractive.
The folks from the palace aren't happy about losing Nera, and the tree people aren't anxious to give her up either.
I won't go into much more detail. Do you feel for Nera's dramatic circumstanses? Can you sense the nature of the looming conflict? She also discovers that she is a Celestra, whatever that is, and, coincidentally so is Blondy. All I'll say is that each Celestra has a unique set of super powers.
My Take on the book: Hannah Till has serious story telling skill. She describes the scenery and settings in wonderful detail. There are so many twists and turns, it's hard to keep up with who the good guys and bad guys are. There are settings that are beautifully unique and I couldn't wait to find out more about them and see what might happen there.
The story is entirely first person narative with Nera as the protagonist. I like the fact that you don't need to keep track of who's talking. I also noticed many occasions where it might have been easier for Hannah to jump to another POV, but she stayed the course with Nera, and it worked.
My Criticism: It ended.
I didn't get to see what really happens in the Celestra-only room, the most intriguing room in the palace. I do find out that there is more to Nera and, potentially other characters, that has not yet been revealed or explained.
Don't ya hate when you have to wait for book 2?
I have it on good authority, Book 2 is soon to make the shelves. Good thing, because I was considering organizing a petition to get it done.
Congrats Hannah on a great work of fantasy/romance.
3.5 Stars (sorry my rating system seems to be marked a bit harder lol).
I was drawn to this book initially because I love this cover, I thinks it’s just gorgeous. I think I was sold on the first sentence of the synopsis “Nera, a woman with no home, no family, and no memories of why, finds herself in an unfamiliar world”. The beginning of the book seemed a bit jumpy to me, like the how’s and whys of why she has no memory and how she ended up not on earth (but that could also just be me brain not retaining information right after I read it lol).I did also think that the start of the book was a super slow burn. It took me quite awhile to get into it and start really enjoying the read. I’d say about 3/4 in it started to pick up and by then I was invested in these characters and I needed to know what was going to happen. Unfortunately, Nera doesn’t not get her memories back in this book lol but that just makes the reader want to continue on with the series. I am also team Nera and Tarak. Poo on Betrothed business, we don’t want to be told what to do hahha. I’d really be shocked if in the rest of the series we find out the way our hearts were leaning is wrong. I’d be so devastated. I would recommend this book to those who don’t mind a slow burn and also fantasy readers who enjoy a bit of romance.
Thank you to LiteraryMediaTours and Hannah Till for allowing me to jump on this review tour.
Nera has movie grade amnesia and only recalls three years of living in NYC when she awakes in ... another world? An alternate dimension? The closet of a woodsman? While freaking out and hiding from people who seemed perfectly friendly and appeared to know her even if she didn't recognize them, she encounters a random dude in the woods who smirks every other second (48 smirks in this book, yo) and leads her into a dark hole in the ground and somehow that's ok but not being waited on in a nicely appointed bedroom. In her confusion and terror, she is weirdly attracted to Tarak who later tells her he "captured" her and awkwardly informs her that she's a Celestra and can enter the American Gladiator competition to rule the whole damn planet. A dozen panic attacks and lots of over reaction screaming later, she can't decide if the Ent people are telling the truth or the City Mice people. Also a second possible love interest enters the equation and be prepared for it to end abruptly without answer to most of your questions.
I really wanted to love this book but the writing is just awkward, repetitive, and overwrought with weird emotional responses to things. General plot and world are decent. Giving book two a chance because it was given to me free by the author after a mailing snafu for the first book.
FUCK THAT WAS SO GOOD. Okay honestly, that was spectacular. I was a bit skeptical going in bcs it's the author's debut novel but WOW I barely have any notes. The scenery descriptions, the character dialogue, the political intrigue, everything was balanced perfectly. I'm kicking myself bcs this book just came out and now I have to wait god knows how long until book 2 is released, but I'm so glad I read it. My two small complaints: probably that the author, who I found on bookstagram, made it seem like it'd be a bit spicier.. fade to black isn't bad necessarily but I'd rather my expectations have been managed going in. Two,
“I’m pretty sure you are my great adventure.” - Hannah Till
This book was a great adventure for me, I did not read the synopsis of the book prior to downloading it on kindle unlimited. Honestly it was an impulse download just based off of the authors IG reels that kept coming on my feed… after finishing Crown of fire I needed a bit of a reset something different. This book gave me exactly that… time travel, different world building…. And honestly it felt a little sci-fi, but it’s not your blue men alien sci-fi it’s just different…. (I really can’t say more or it gives it away on this part of the world building). I kept falling asleep reading, not because it was boring but because I just needed to know what happened next and would be up too late reading. 😂🤣
Characters: Nera was our FMC, she was in an accident and can’t remember anything, and keeps finding herself in some strange situations. I was so frustrated for her, felt her anguish, her confusion. You also get a feel for how anxiety feels, how mental health effects one, and it was so easy for me to relate to her anxiety. I can’t wait to see her grow more and hopefully see her memories come back!
Tarak, our MMC… what I will tell you about him, he fits the bill of what you expect in a MMC. He has a mission to be on but then something changed along the way…..hmmm 🤔
The side characters are some you absolutely love and want to know and others you cringe and yell at your kindle over. The romance is a enemies to lover, slooow burn (I may or may not have DMd Hannah yelling at her about it 😬), a little steamy scene that may fade to black, but the prelude to the fade gives the goodies…. Honestly sometimes this is just what I want in my books I don’t always want the heavy smvt…
I really hope you give this book a try!! I’m not going to lie, I bought the paperback before I even finished the KU version. I needed to have it to annotate and keep on my shelf!!! Bravo Hannah!!
The Celestra: a tale of strength, love, action, and whimsy.
Nera finds herself in a completely unfamiliar and seemingly mythical world. Not knowing where she came from or where she's going, she stumbles across a man in the woods named Tarak who welcomes her into his life and community- though not without obstacles.
Nera is such an incredible, strong, and relatable female character. I LOVED following her through the pages of this book as she navigated her new life. Tarak? Ugh, what a hunk. He is totally swoon worthy, polite, and exactly what I want out of a fictional boyfriend.
Fantasy lovers- do not hesitate to add this to your TBR. I am in total awe that this is Hannah's debut novel as her writing is amazing! I have a tough time with the world building in fantasy novels, and it really felt like I was looking at paintings the way everything was described. This story had the perfect amount of romance and action which kept me flipping through the pages and needing the sequel ASAP!
Oh my god, The Celestra pulled me into the story with the same strength that Fourth Wing did and I absolutely devoured this book in two days. The story was such a unique concept, had absolutely beautiful world building, amazing banter and had so many twists and turns that I was forever reading the next chapter and ignoring responsibilities.
The last 20% brought on a crazy twist that I absolutely wasn't expecting but made everything so much better. The very last page had the biggest twist of them all. If I didn't have to go to work in the morning I would probably stay up all night and binge the next book.
Hannah Till has absolutely blown me away with this book. I literally set aside my first read of ACOTAR to read The Celestra instead. I've already sent suggestions to all of my book friends and plan to buy physical copies of all of her books. I'm shocked that she is not more well known and can't wait to see where she goes from here.
It follows the FMC Nera living on Earth who has Amnesia, when one day is wakes in unknown world. In her journey to find herself back to earth she discovers things are not as they seem in a world where is caught in the middle of a war… Nera must decide which side she is fighting for and if she can trust those who have promised to protect her.
The Celestra is the perfect Fantasy book to jump into and get lost. I could not put it down. I read this book in less than 4 days. It has amazing world building, character descriptions, war, magic, slow burn romance, betrayal, and self discovery. Let me tell the PLOT TWIST at the end had me gasping and wanting to know what happens next

This book was beautiful to read and amazing to experience. I read this book straight through, stopping only to sleep and eat. I regret doing that since I now have to wait impatiently for the next book.
I am so very captivated by the writing of this book. It's eloquent without being long winded, and the descriptions make me wish that I could experience all of the sights for myself.
The characters felt like they had real depth to them, and that they weren't just 2D cut outs of the same tropes we've seen before. I love how our views of the various characters are altered throughout the book as the plot twists unfold.
I am so incredibly excited to read the next book when it releases. I'm hoping that we'll get some hard earned answers. Personally, I've been agonizing over than one guard from the beginning throughout the whole story and I just have to know who he was.
I loved this book and couldn’t put it down! I felt the character development and world building was great.
Nera, our badass FMC, wakes up in a world that is clearly not Earth with no memory of how she got there. She escapes to a wooded area where she meets Tarak. He helps her survive on their journey through the forest as he guides her towards his home. Tarak has a secret mission that he…omits from telling Nera…but as their journey continues, so does the connection that they feel towards each other. Nera is also learning of the turmoil that plagues Ithesin and wonders how she will learn to navigate it without her memories, as there have been indications now that she is in fact from this world. Who can she trust to guide her on this path? Who’s telling her the truth and who’s lying to her?
This book is one of those books that you purposely limit yourself a daily amount of reading time, so that you do not read it too fast and deprive yourself of a longevity of magic!
The imagery and descriptions Till provides are extraordinary realistic. The passion she describes between Nera and Tarak is breathtaking and impossible not to indulge oneself into.
This book kept me wanting more. The end of each chapter seemed to keep me at a loss of predictability. I was addicted, and I just wanted to read on!
I’m beyond excited for the second book and I hope it comes sooner rather than later. We only have a few treasures that bring us pleasure on this earth and The Celestra is definitely one added to my personal list.
Congratulations Hannah, your debut series is a triumph!
It was honestly a very slow start for me and I was in a dilemma as to whether I must continue reading or not. But then 15% into the book and it had me in!
The story has it moments, the subtle changes where it keeps revealing enough to go on and still not disclosing everything. Without giving out a lot, I'd say I love the part of the reunion of Nera with her father and how complex and yet beautiful those emotions felt.
Also, Riann! I love the name! I love how someone waits for you for years even, where emotions hold true. I know he might be on the losing side of love but I still hold a soft corner for him. I'd like to see how their story progresses with Tarak seeming somewhat gray by the end.
The Celestra by Hannah Till has a really captivating story with vivid, imaginative details that pulled me in right away. The world building is solid, and I genuinely enjoyed the overall plot. Nera, the main character, is intriguing and complex, but I found myself getting confused often because the transitions between her thoughts and spoken words weren’t always clear. It was hard to tell when she was thinking something or actually saying it out loud, which pulled me out of the story a few times. I also found it to be a bit repetitive. There were also quite a few misspelled words throughout the book, which was a little distracting! With a bit more polish, this could easily be a 4 or 5 star read. The cliffhanger is a banger though!!!!
This book is a world I've never read before. Hannah Till has created a treetop sanctuary that anyone would be excited to be a part of, and a city full of hidden passageways and ancient secrets. The story is full of mysteries and revelations, magical gifts and steamy tension that has me the best type of impatient for the next book.
We might not get a one-bed trope, but we do get a shared apartment, a friends to lovers, a love triangle, forgotten past... and so many questions I'm dying to learn the answers to!
Thanks, bookstagram, for helping me discover this hidden gem!
I cannot express how much I loved this book, I finished it within a few days and probably would have finished it quicker if I had the time to read! You are drawn into the world so easily with Hannah's breathtaking descriptions of the setting and immediately drawn to the characters with how well developed they are. The romantic build is so well done and perfect for the first book in a series. I'm a huge lover of fantasy and there are a lot of very cool and unique aspects to the world and magic that had me craving more!
My Quick Thoughts •Fascinating fantasy world •I want to go climb a tree •FMC with amnesia •Plot twist ending •Enemies to lovers (my fav in fantasy) •Political turmoil
I really enjoyed this one! The setting gave me Avatar vibes, but not like Avatar at all, mostly just the lushness of the fantasy world. And that ending? There were great plot points that I want to go back over before I start book 2. I definitely recommend.
Thank you to the author and Literary Media Tours for my review copy. All opinions are my own.
Holy cow, this book is downright beautiful and almost lyrically written. The idea of destiny and the hero's journey shines through like a bright light, able to keep the reader grounded in the book and it's intricate storyline. The characters were jumping off the page inviting me to come into the story with them and when I did? I didn't want to leave.
I sincerely hope that we get a second book because I loved this one so much!
Thank you to LiteraryMediaTours for my complimentary copy of this book, in exchange for my honest review!
3.5⭐️ I really enjoyed this book one the action started which unfortunately wasn’t until way to late in the book. The only thing that kept me reading until then was wondering if she would get her memory back. I think the first half of the book definitely could have been about 100 pages shorter there was a lot of repetitive emotional description from her side I almost wish it was a dual pov. With the way the book ended I have high hopes for book 2
I have one word for this book: incredible. I was kept on the edge of my seat the entire time. I couldn’t wait to find out more! Hannah does an incredible just world building. Her word choice helps the reader to be able to visualize each scene.
I love the relationship between the FMC and the MMC. Their banter was hilarious, and honestly very realistic to a conversation that would actually take place.
This we be a definite reread. Now time to start The Shadows Within.
JUST WOW!!! I was sucked into this book from the very beginning!! The world building was absolutely PHENOMENAL!! I won't lie, I questioned if I could friendly yell at the author around 70% 😒 SHE KNOWS.WHAT.SHE.DID. I'm now questioning everything I thought I had figured out after that dang ending!!! Such an amazing read! I loved it so much! Even when my heart was ripped from my body and shredded into a billion pieces.
After that ending I have no words. I’m so excited for the next book. One of my favorite reads so far this year and definitely going in my top 3 fantasy series of all times. The first few chapters were a little confusing to me but I soon realized that feeling was purposeful with the way Hannah was doing her world building. I don’t know that I’ve felt this connected to a FMC since the cat and mouse duet. The character development was so beautiful and I truly don’t know why more people aren’t talking about this book. It’s giving ACOTAR vibes but I have to say I enjoy the writing style of this more 🫣. I’m not normally a slow burn girlie but 😮💨, this one will live rent free in my head forever.
