Male Lead: Leon Winston
Female Lead: Grace Riddle
He is indeed a black flag man. It's not that I want to defend him but he did that to Grace because of misunderstanding. He thought she really a spy sent by enemies to seduce him. He hates that of course. Moreover, the thought of his first love deceived him, used him just to get revenge. He didn't know Grace was brainwashed.
OK but I still didn't like that he SA her. He was insane at those scenes.
I cried a lot when they tried hard to mend their relationship. The way Leon grovel to Grace. I love that. And good job to Grace that she didn't forgive him immediately. She knows it right away.
At the end, I cried. Grace indeed doesn't need him, Grace wants him.
They're together now happy with each other. Leon, Grace, Ellie and Oliv

This book had me questioning my morals, my sanity, and why I kept saying "one more chapter" at 3 a.m.
First things first: this is not a romance for everyone. It's dark, disturbing, and genuinely hard to read at times. If you go in expecting a healthy love story, you're going to have a terrible time. I went in expecting psychological warfare... and that's exactly what I got.
Leon Winston is one of the most terrifying MMCs I've ever read. The man is a walking nightmare wrapped in perfect manners and military medals. Every time he appeared, I felt like I needed to hide. He's obsessive, cruel, calculating, and somehow always ten steps ahead. The tension whenever he and Sally shared a scene was absolutely suffocating.
And Sally? She carried this book. She's smart, resourceful, and constantly playing a dangerous game where one wrong move could cost her everything. I loved that she wasn't physically overpowered because she was "special" her biggest weapon was her mind, and watching her outthink people was so satisfying.
One quote that perfectly sums up the terrifying dynamic between them:
...which is both a confession and a threat. Honestly, that's this entire relationship.
The writing was incredibly immersive. The atmosphere is bleak, oppressive, and dripping with tension. Every interaction felt like someone had lit a match in a room full of gasoline. I genuinely never knew who had the upper hand.
My only reason for docking a star is that the story occasionally lingered a little too long on the cat-and-mouse games. I loved the psychological tension, but there were moments where I wanted the plot to move forward instead of endlessly tightening the same knot.
Overall, this isn't a book I'd recommend lightly.... but it is one I'll remember for a long time. It's brutal, addictive, incredibly well-written, and the kind of story that leaves you staring at the ceiling wondering why you voluntarily put yourself through all that.
...Will I recover? Probably not. But I did have a great time being emotionally terrorized.

En realidad es un 3.5 de estrellas.
Es un Dark romance militar, de origen coreano. ¿Si lo leí en su idioma original? Nop. Use un traductor, pero se entendió perfectamente la historia.
Yo diría que es uno de los primeros de Dark romance que leo. ¿Por qué recién lo digo?. Porque su portada siempre me interesó y digo... bueno algún día lo veré.
Ya lo leí hace como dos o tres años atrás. Y nunca lo puede terminar. Pero ahora sí.
Me costó muchísimo conseguirlo. Pero puede, por fin darle cierre a esta historia. Fue Difícil porque eran muchos capítulos.
La historia es de Grace y León. Justo dos enemigos militares. En una época de guerra entre la nobleza vs los plebeyos. Una época de la Revolución Industrial, donde ese país sigue gobernado por reyes. Y León es justo de la nobleza y Grace de la plebeya, que va con el bando de los rebeldes.
No toda la historia es perfecta. Por ambos tuvieron un encuentro en su infancia donde ambos se conocieron, pero también ocasióno un dolor para ambos. Después de muchos años, se encuentran cuando ya son adultos ella justo se infiltra en la casa de él para investigarlo. Pero León se da cuenta y la atrapa.
Lo que sigue son muchas cosas, que son interesantes sobre secretos del pasado, la lucha por sobrevivir y la posibilidad de derrotar al enemigo. Y ver cómo conseguir la paz.
Pero como dice la novela: la mejor manera de derrotar a tu enemigo es enamorarlo o que te ame.
La historia me gustó? Si, tengo una sola razón por la cual la leí. El futuro que iban a tener juntos. Eso era lo que quería leer. Y me quede satisfecha.
La otra cosa ¿tiene psicy? Sip y mucha 🤪 algunas escenas si son dudosas y otras te sorprenden demasiado. Hay mucha locura en eso 🫠.
Hay historias cortas al final, son dos, una sigue como secuela de la historia principal y la otra es como versión alterna. Pero me quedó con la secuela, para ponerle fin a la original.
Con esto cierro.

Vorrei tanto dargli 5 stelle per quanto mi ha tenuta incollata e impaziente di andare avanti coi capitoli (tanto da diventare PAZZA e setacciare l'internet quando arrivata a un certo punto non trovavo più i capitoli successivi), però il redemption arc mi è piaciuto meno di tutta la parte precedente e Leon alla fine non è neanche veramente cambiato come Grace vorrebbe credere.

Strongest FMC I’ve read about in a very long long time. The scenes where she was captured were horrific, (triggers and warnings are no joke), but the story progressed well. I loved how she gave him hell for what he did and stayed strong until the very end. Winston’s grovelling and regret afterwards were very satisfying also. This story was long af, however I don’t regret reading it.
