Sacrificial Duet #1

Sacrifice My Vow

Rate this book
I knew my path before I knew myself.

My devotion to God equaled my devotion to make people’s lives better.
When I move to Lucerne to take over a congregation, I don’t expect him.
Nicco.

He’s every sin in the book, and yet I cannot resist his silent presence and his unrivaled need to protect me and my happiness.

He is ready to give me up so I can return to my righteous path.
What he doesn’t realize? For him I’m ready to sacrifice my vow.

Warning: This is an M/M book where a priest realizes a man was put in his path to test all he is and ever thought. It contains sinning, doubts, and one bad boy with a hell of a good heart. Beware, this is not a religious book and it most definitely break some rules of the church.

the most boring taboo ever. the least exciting. the lamest no doubt. ugh. my biggest complaint was how this book was labeled as a taboo romance but i didn't really feel the anomaly in it. 2 stars because i genuinely liked it at first but yeah it went downhill fast for me. the insta attraction between the mcs killed this supposed to be sense of wrongness. like whats cooking down there? absolutely nothing. interesting choice of ideas but the execution is just chop. a waste of time.

It is actually hard to read a new book with the same exact trope as one of your top tier faves. lmao this was no Saint what was I expecting. Should've minded my own business when I saw the mixed reviews. wanna make it taboo, but insta too? I call it quit.

DNF @ 31%

Oh damn, this...went downhill fast...it's gotten so slow, and boring, and I skimmed ahead, wondering when these two would do anything, and they don't even kiss until 51%...and then I skimmed toward the end and it's not even a HFN for this couple, so....yeah, I think I'll DNF this now...

I just expected more from a taboo story of a priest and a "bad boy"...they're holding back too much and easily for my tastes.

Also Nicco doesn't actually like what his family does and isn't actually a bad guy, and he's also into the whole God thing so he doesn't want to be "bad" and "sin" so they're both trying to stay away and I just...can't. I want romance with it too, sure, but I wanted them giving in and having sex all over, especially in the church, and so on and so forth.

This isn't delivering. Also it said this isn't a book about religion, but...I mean religion plays a big part of it, what with BOTH of them being religious and not wanting to break Jonah's vow and all.

Just not for me....

An amazing mm romance, angsty novel about a priest and a bad boy/loving, italian, family man. Oh goodness, the FEELS!!! 💙💙💙

Oh Niccolo...The struggle of protecting his family, being what his family needs him to be, good or bad. The need to be what he wants, away from it all, be different. His absolute devotion to Jonas, the way he loves his priest.

And Jonas...Gentle, kind, warm. I don't believe in God, but Jonas is one of those people who you know are spiritual, so giving of heart, that you can't help but feel their warmth. The poor boy didn't know he was gay, he didn't know need, want, lust, love before meeting Niccolo. He is so confused, so torn between his love for God and the way his soul sings for his Italian, and for the way Niccolo loves him.

Amazing love story, with twists and turns (one I definitely didn't expect!). Of course it ended with the mother of all angsty cliffhangers and my poor heart is in turmoil. Can't wait until June damn it!!

Their love is so nice.
The ending is sad though. Can't wait to read the second book so they get their happy ending.

This book is epically bad in ways I can’t even begin to have the energy to detail. The typos, the poor sentence structure, the paragraphs that don’t make any gd sense. And that’s just surface level stuff that could be fixed with a good proofreader.

No… my frustration for this book goes much deeper. It’s just soooo bad.

Do not read it. Just… don’t.

This is a very long book.

It’s also pretty unexciting.

The taboo isn’t really there. It’s boring, and it dragged the whole way.

M/M romance between a priest and his temptation.

First of all, hello progressive priest. 👏🏻👏🏻 When I first started this I had the feeling it would be like previous stories I read where there’s a lot of internalized or external homophobia because of religion, but it is NOT that. No, not here. Here we have a progressive priest that will tell anyone (including himself) that there’s nothing wrong with loving whomever you love. No, our priest Jonah’s internal struggles are more so with the fact that one Italian ‘bad boy’ - really the bestest boy - Nicco, has stolen away his focus and devoutness to God. Jonah has spent a long time putting nothing but God first. He always has his Bible with him, always turns to prayer, and always knows he’s missing nothing in life because he has his God. That is until Nicco walks into his life and turns everything upside down. Jonah now has to question why he can’t seem to focus anymore unless he’s by Nicco’s side. Jonah feels guilty for the pull he is feeling, but he can’t seem to help himself.

Meanwhile, Nicco is doing his best to avoid being the temptation. He would do anything to not corrupt the priest that now serves his Italian-American community. Nicco is not out to his family or community, but he would be more than okay if Jonah chose them and it was public. Nicco’s only struggle is with his own guilt for making Jonah lose focus. Nicco would stay on his knees *cough* for hours if it meant Jonah could find peace in his prayers. Nicco is willing to sacrifice everything for this man.

We learn in the end that Jonah might be a little too selfish, and Nicco might sacrifice too much.
Ends on a slight cliffhanger, but thankfully the second book is out.

This story between Jonah and Nicco is soft, slow, tender and beautiful. I loved the development between them. The slight push and pull, but the perfection of there being no questioning of their love for each other. Even in the angst and questionable moments, I was still content with their progression.
I loved the Italian phrases and their quick translations. I loved the vineyard, the wine, the close Bianchi family. The comparison to the Smiths. That differentiation of who is really bad and who is not.
I just enjoyed this. It was a light, nice read.

To start, this is my first ever M/M Romance. I lean towards RH and never cared whether m/m was in it or not.

Kamisa Cole wrote a beautiful story with fabulous characters. The depth of struggle that Jonah had to go through to truly know what he wanted was written in such a way that it actually felt like a true story. Watching his turmoil, his indescision of whether he needed God more or Nicco, felt so deep and it helps you connect to him so much more. I've never seen the indescision, the conflict inside of Jonah, written in another book in any way close to how it was in this.

Nicco was such a beautiful soul, caring for everyone before himself. Even putting his brother before his own wants, corrupting his own soul before it could get to Maso. I expected to see a lot more of the 'bad boy' in him but this worked so much better than I could've thought.

I didn't see the ending coming. To be honest, I didn't even care who was doing what because I was so caught up in the turmoil. Nicco and Jonah are now topping my list of best fictional characters.

Sometimes, an author writes a book that hits best seller, and sometimes, it's the smaller authors who write the best stories. This author here wrote an amazing story. To be fair, I let this book sit more towards the end of my read list, because I wasn't so sure about it. I figured it'd hit best seller, because that's...well who isn't into a bit taboo with a priest these days? But it didn't. Which is probably why I enjoyed it more over other books released lately.

Anyhow, I loved this book. Johan, a priest, can't help but love who his heart wants. I love how Kamisa made this book make me fall in love with the characters. Yes, insta-love was there (and normally I don't care for that trope) but this book was done perfectly. The taboo aspect was a priest and mafia man....so taboo is the right way to say to cover this one.

I can't wait to go read the second book, then I'm gonna go stalk this author.

Oh boy...

I really wanted to love this book but instead I just liked it? The author needed a good round of editing with a handful of weird syntax and spelling errors. The use of the ellipses drove me nuts. But that’s all fixable.

The story was great. Priest meets Mafia(ish) Boss and falls in love. They both questions their lives and loves and all that. Lots of angst. Lots of smut. Lots of love.

There were a few conversations and plot directions I didn’t like but I understood. A few I didn’t understand but ended up going along with. All in all, I devoured this book and I’m going to start the next soon!

So good!

Gosh, I loved this book so much. Forbidden romance to the max. The book is not smutty but gosh, the love scenes were so beautiful and steamy. The sex talk was just *chef's kiss*. I don't know if English is the author's first language but the word placement was sometimes a little different. I found that very endearing and interesting. There's a sort of mafia-style element with two enemy families. I enjoyed that part because it was a sufficiently satisfying side story and not overpowering.
I'll start the next book shortly. I can't wait.

Holy cow.

Intense. Priest who learns the hard way of his sexual awakening for men or maybe just for Nicco. Enforcer for his father crime Syndicate. He come to confession only to fall for the voice of the new priest. They meet and things heat up from there. A priest taking the vow of chastity. Never been with a man. A crime boss's son who in the closet. Nothing good can come of this.

WOW So Amazing!

This story left me speechless. It was not what I expected. This story was romantic, seductive, adventurous, but pure at the same time. As a believer in the church, I was not at all offended by the story. The ending actually made me want to cry it was so sad. I won't forget this tale for a long time. Thank You Kamisa Cole for sharing Jonah and Nicco's story. I don't see how I can possibly keep myself from reading Book 2!

Talk about a story that keeps ripping your heart to pieces it’s this one! You never knew if it was going to get easier when you turned the page but nope rip rip rip!

I loved it and only wish book 2 was out already!

Nicco and Jonah are amazing characters that connect instantly but have a slow burn and you are pulling for them.

I hope they can get a break in part 2!

I've not read a lot of MM books and am only getting started, but this story? This rollercoaster of emotions, of hurt, or hope, and of love, is just the perfect mix of everything. My heart broke, got stitched back together, only to be filled with love another time. I'm onto book two, but this is hands down one of the best books I've ever read.

Instant lust/love whatever….the whole point of reading taboo love is the slow burn but the dialogues were over dramatic ….you blink and the MCs were all over each other. Not for me. I need a well developed plot and dialogues and this felt very basic.

BEST GLO READ SO FAR!!! I was not prepared for this one. Firstly not a fan of mafia style books or religious content, so why did I read this? Because… I’m a sucker for punishment willing to step out of my comfort zone on occasion.

Thank goodness to the stars above guiding me to read this 😉

Absolutely smashed it out of the park! I cannot tell you how blow away I was by this novel.

This is now one of my new top favourite MM books!

This book has snippets of hotness but the story is a bit flimsy. I liked the characters but wanted them to be stronger.
