I HAVE MIXED EMOTIONS ABOUT THIS ONE.
The story seemed a little flat, especially since the cause of the conflict was unreasonable. Max knew Raine and was drawn to her before they felt the mating bond, but she is too young, an "issue" that became a problem solely after they were proven to be mates. Honestly, this book's MMC lacked any sign of emotional intelligence. He just decided to make Raine and himself suffer because he just wanted to. I did not enjoy it that much.
However, the action part of the story was very good with lots of suspense.

It was okay. Boring. The main couple didn’t interact much on page through most of the book. Their relationship was off page between this book (3) and book two of this series. So basically this book is full of angst and running away by the couple. Then after a violent event in the town the couple is magically together. Again no explanation of what makes them mated outside of their instinct and their say so. Smh. After that the main conflict from book two is never mentioned in this book, but this book’s conflict is literally only mentioned in the last chapter and then it’s over.
I liked the couple but there really isn’t much to sink into in this series or this author’s work. I’m not very interested in pursuing this author’s products anymore. She has potential but so far it’s not displayed in story telling quality. Good luck.

Wow Jade, you did it again. This story is so close to reality and there are so many couples going through the same unworthy feeling as Max did, and as Rain did, just keep loving them and giving them time.
I couldn't believe that all the action, humor and love happened in such a short story, but you made it happen without doing the story short.
You did great Jade and I just love your writing stile. You can write anything and I wil be honored to read every word you put on paper!!

This book is perfect for when you are in the mood for something that's fast-paced, sexy, and addictive. The wrong mate is an age-gap, fated mate story with a great storyline. Although this book is a short story, the pace and flow isn't rushed.

Ok, so I jumped into this series by Jade Marshall in book 3, sorry (not sorry!) I’m very picky about reading shifter books, some I like, some I love. This short from one of my favorite publishers, Evernight, is in the latter category.
This is the third book in her Katu Wolves series, and involves the pack’s Beta, Max, and his fated mate, Raine. Max has kept Raine firmly in friendship status, and now that she’s turned 18, he’s more determined than ever to stay away from her. He feels he is too old for her at 28, and not good enough for her.
Raine is aggravated that Max is dodging her and does what she can to get him to see her as his one true mate. But while they are working on that, the pack has a bigger problem. Hunters. And Max may end up having to fight for his fated mate in more ways than one.
I truly enjoyed this book! Read it all in one sitting, and I will now have to read the first two. While this can probably be read as a standalone, I’m sure reading the series in order would be better!

There might be a ten-year difference between Max and Raine, but they’ve been best friends for a very long time and Max is not looking forward to the fact now Raine is about to turn eighteen her fated mate will likely claim her, and their friendship will be at an end. When Max meets Raine to give her the present he bought for her birthday, he discovers to his shock it’s he who is her fated mate. Certain this must be a mistake, can Max and Raine retain their friendship but still be what the other needs in a mate?
This is a very steamy and short shifter romance. While the plot was certainly little cliched to my mind, I still found this was an enjoyable read. Max needed to fight his own lack of self-confidence and realize that he and Raine were very well suited. Raine, for her part, was a modern woman – and confident enough in herself to know what she wanted. I enjoyed this balance of power and felt it added a good amount of conflict to the plot.
I was pleased the author added an interesting secondary plot once Max and Raine finally started to come together and work on their intimacy and their relationship began to grow. Rather than have the second half of the book just be purely sex-based I felt this really added a welcome depth and complexity to the short story that helped make it stand out amongst the other man paranormal shifter types of books out there. With a number of strong secondary characters and an interesting shifter world I feel this could be an interesting place for this author to set more future stories about other members of the pack.
With interesting characters, a bunch of steaminess and an interesting plot this was a great, albeit quick read. I’d definitely read more by this author.

The Wrong Mate
This was a good book and although it’s part of a series it could be read as a stand alone. Max and Raine are both great characters. I feel for Raine and her struggles and well Max he’s a typical male. Don’t think he’s good enough but doesn’t realize that date and the goddess know what they are doing. Some outside forces make for an interesting twist. I’m looking forward to more from this series.

I love how Max doesn’t want to hurt Raine and doesn’t think he is good enough for him. He’s so humble and yet so caring about her feelings and thought of his Alpha’s. In the end the mating call wins out, but when she gets kidnapped, can he safe her in time? Lol! You have to read it to find out!

The one thing I like about reading Jade's books is you can read them standalone or you know where it picks up from the last book. It is fluid. Jade's writing is like a river to me. The bends and flows over the rocks and rough waters allow your mind to take a trip into wonderland. It is no different for Max and Raine. This story started at the end of Not His Mate gives you a taste of their friendship (which everyone kinda guess that it may be something else).
So it was no surprise on the day that Raine turned 18 that her smell changed for Max. Now I will not give the whole story away, but if you have been following along in books, you know Max is older and thinks of himself as her best friend. BUT in the wolfy world, we all know that can change for fated mates. They can fight their calling, their smells, the mating attraction, but in the end it either has to be denied or accepted. Max tries his damnedest is all I can say, and Raine loves to tease. The story kept me laughing and reading, but I could not put it down. In the end, he could stand no one being near his Raine.

Max is Raine's fated mate but he doesn't feel like he's good enough for her. Add in that he's 10 years older than the freshly turned 18-year-old and Max refuses to claim her. Of course, watching Max walk away from her broke Raine's heart. He even tried to run but each time he did his wolf brought him back, only for Max to run again. And each time Raine was left with no choice but to watch it happen. Even heartbroken Raine didn't stop loving Max and hoping that he would see what they could have together. When danger erupts Max realizes he could have lost his mate, the only woman he has ever loved so he sets out to make things right.
Max and Raine's story is filled with heartache, longing, betrayal, devotion and love!! I love that Raine loved Max so much that even when he was running she was still taking care of him. This couple has become my absolute favorite of this series!

I LOVED IT!
I'm lovin this series. I really enjoyed the love story but you'd never know there was an age gap between Raine and Max. These two are best friends and Raine is about to turn 18 which means she's ready to meet her mate. Raine's character in sweet and cares about everyone. But she has an enemy she doesn't know about. This book is exciting but it's slow building. It's sexy as f*** and set your crotch on fire smokin hot. When trouble comes to the compound the suspense is nerve wracking waiting to find out what the damage is. I have to say I was surprised to find out who was behind it. I highly recommend this book/series to everyone.

This is the third book in this series and it continues the intertwined relationship between all the characters. Ms. Marshall tells an interesting paranormal story that in context could be about anything that is going on in the world today. You just need to really catch on to the threads.

My Favorite Katu Story Yet!
This series keeps on getting better and better!
I found Raine and Max to both be very compelling, sympathetic characters that I was immediately rooting for. I absolutely wanted to just lock them in a room together at one point, but that situation only made their overall story stronger.
I really felt for Max and his sense of not truly belonging, just as I felt like a was right there with Raine during her struggles and frustration.
Probably my favorite couple in this series so far, which only makes me more excited to read the next one!

Another addictive story from Jade. This isn’t my usual read but this author has me hooked on her shifter stories. Max is 10 years older than Raine. They are fated mates. But Max refuses to claim her as she has just turned 18. I absolutely adored Raine. Their story is full of lots of drama and plenty of action. It kept me turning the pages. Will they get their H.E.A? You will need to read. Highly recommend this series.

I loved this story between Raine and Max. Max has his own demons to deal with and doesn't want to bring Raine down with him because she is too good. Raine has always know it was Max. Raine has always loved Max.

Wow this book was full of action and drama, Raine is such a gentle soul and Max is so pig headed. will he ever mate and give Raine the life she deserves or will hunters destroy it all before they can finally mate. You will have to read this book to find out.

Raine and Max are different then the previous Katu couples, mostly it is due to age difference. Max was reluctant but he could note denigh fate or his heart. What is next for the Katu Pack? Only Jade knows for sure.

Max has a lot of dumb moments throughout this one. He really thinks Raine deserves someone better than him so he keeps his distance from her. They have a bit of an age gap and he really makes them both suffer for it.

This is Raine and Max story and is a sad story to start as Max is older then Raine and Max walked away when Raine had turned 18 and Max felt he was worthy enough for a mate. Then the pack was hit and he came back and found was a match mate and worked together to make it happen.
