A mix of quietness and fury, an unraveling yarn in the night… From This Flame collects eight stories that reach into the wellspring of myth and imagine the world that comes “after”. Includes an afterword from the artist (taken from the original self-published edition).
Some beautiful art in a handful of very short fairly avant-garde comics. A couple stories are memorable but most of the collection is just interesting images without much context. Would love some kind of longer narrative work from this artist, but that's just my personal preference
A beautifully illustrated short story collection that explores ideas of life, faith, and curiosity. It's very self-reflective and abstract. Definitely something worth picking up and reading for yourself.
I can see reading this when you're in a more contemplative mood -- say you're feeling angsty or depressed -- but if you're expecting to be "entertained," this is definitely not for you.
