Rate this book

Will she have the heart to deal with the pieces of her life that the choice to be with Tasheem has caused? Will Thor continue to help her rebuild her life, or does he have too much on his plate? With his mother in the hospital fighting for her life and his newfound love screaming for his help, Thor is torn. Always being the one to run and be at this mother's beck and call, he's torn between coming to Michelle and Miracle's aide. Knowing that Michelle's life comes with a lot of baggage doesn't bother him, but it's the baggage that he carries for both he and his mother that he's worried with. Will his mother prove too much for Michelle? Will finally let his mother figure out things on her own and come and save Michelle? Kelsie is carrying Milli's baby and doesn't know where they stand in a relationship. Then, she has Kyne who has proven that he would be the perfect man for her. Only rating this 5 stars because of Thor

Thor is the best character and without him my opinion of this book would be something else.

A couple name mix ups in the book prolly too many point of views and too many characters.
Also with there being so many characters their actual names and the nicknames had me confused at times. Shorting a name is one thing but it was too much at times...
Sometimes the characters spoke like they were the author stating a fact instead of it being first person and what they thought or assumed as a character in the story.
Overall these characters and their motivations make no sense. I understand needing drama in a book and plot points but it has to all be coherent.

Thor is the character that the author worked on the most, his actions and everything he does lines up with his character.
Michelle, was upset with him like she wasn’t just staying with a nigga that beat on her for years
Kelsie, is mad at Marina and Marcus gf when the only ppl she should be mad at is herself and Marcus, if she would just get a court ordered DNA test...
Patsy, now I understand her character completely. What I don’t get is the ppl around her. Her reasons for drinking is obvious but no one seems to care, not even her so called friends. Or husband who claims he actually does love her, if you wanna live a double life at least do the shit right, wifey is #1
Mello ain’t shit.
Milli, I could give you a whole chapter of complaints on him. He claimed to be so real but I ain’t seen him be that yet. He claims kelsie does the things she does cause she don’t trust men and instead of having patience and proving her wrong how he set out, he says fuck her? Gotta make that make sense, it’s a lot of things he does that makes me look at him sideways.
She literally got raped in her home and instead of being there for her he’s worried about being called second? That’s a problem to address later.
Men wonder why women act the way we do with pregnancy, he got to go on while she dealt with the mental and physical of not only losing a baby but being raped. And that being the cause of the loss.
The author kinda walked over the fact that she was raped which is a big deal, hopefully next book that actually gets addressed and Kelsie gets some healing cause I wouldn’t trust men after that. And she’s just happy go lucky chilling with random niggas now

OMFG Melo and Patsy dominated this book. Their drama was everything. Was this an episode of Empire?? I would not have been mad if we got a Mary J Blidge level ballard. Oh wait maybe I'm thinking of book 3 and not 2 but either way, you will need to pick your jaw up off the floor.

Kelsie and Milli are toxic. Milli irritated the fuck out of me and my heart broke a bit for Kelsie.

I was soo proud of Michelle and soo pissed at the stupid bitches who hyped her ex and helped him continue to terrorize her. Like WHY? And I know there are fake bitches irl who do this!! Make it Make Sense.

Thor continues to be amazing; we see him struggle with his druggie mama.

So far this series has continued to reel me in and keep me interested. However, I do have a little itty bitty something to say.

I am listening to this on audio. Book One was narrated by Winston Duke and Ace Bailey. Both did a great job. So much so that when my teens were forced into the listening to a chapter with me in the car, they both commented on how they were instantly sucked in and enjoyed the storyline.

So.... the narrator change for the remaining books was a bit of a shock. I don't even know the name of the new guy, I just know he sounds like he grew up in the suburbs and is trying to act hard. Whereas Winston and Ace felt like the real deal. Had my ears and body not experienced their voices, the adjustment would not have been as bad. With that said once I got used to this new guy it was smooth sailing.

Bruuuhhh. This was literally my face throughout the book: 🫢. Lol I wasn’t expecting a lot of the shit that happened.

The ending to this book had me screaming out “oh shit!” (again). Tbh, I didn’t care about Mello and Patsy’s storyline at first, so I just skimmed Patsy’s chapters for pertinent information in the beginning. It wasn’t until Mello’s first chapter that I became interested in what they had going on (because gahhh damn! I wasn’t expecting that).

Idk what’s going to happen with Milli and Kelsie, but I like that by the end of this book Kelsie started to realize her faults and is actively working on changing them for the better. I also can’t wait to read Milli’s reaction when he finds out about her and Emont.

Thor and Michelle are too cute, and I’m happy that she’s happy, becoming confident, and standing up for herself. I’m also happy Tasheem got dealt with.

A lot of shit happened in this book, so I have no idea of what to expect from the other three books (outside of the usual marriage and baby tropes). I’m about to find out though.

Girl she was not fighting with you in the club, she keep it cute.

Milli that was a little fukked up to say.

Yea Thor you are enabling her.

I wonder when Patsy going to find out the truth…

I hope Patsy does get clean.

I knew it 😂😂 got exposed by a baby 😂

tasheem? yeah, he can kick rocks barefoot on hot pavement. he deserves every single consequence coming his way and then some. and marcus can go right with him because the way he stayed unbothered about miracle after EVERYTHING?? absolutely blew me. miracle already battles cerebral palsy, and then she has to deal with adults moving like this? that baby is exactly what her mama named her — a miracle. she’s stronger than half the grown people in this book.
i couldn’t even be mad at kelsie for how she reacted when the truth came out. marcus saying what he said, and his mama let it slide like it was nothing? no. that would've been my villain origin story right there.
michelle… i just need sis to take a breath and sit the world down for a second. she’s coming out of a traumatic, abusive situation, and mentally she’s not ready to be anybody’s girlfriend, partner, or project. she needs space to heal without thor, tasheem, guilt, or drama breathing down her neck.
and thor… baby. he has some serious mom-related baggage to unpack. michelle wasn’t wrong for calling out the unhealthy dynamic he has with his mother. and because nobody has EVER challenged him on it, he folded into a whole tantrum. but i WILL say, by the 90% mark, you could finally see his character development peeking through.
now patsy and mello? lord. their storyline is also a toxic situation. i don’t like either one of them, but the mess they’re hiding, the things they’re doing behind closed doors, and the secrets brewing in atlanta? yeah, that pot is about to boil over. and patsy’s detective work?? please go sit down somewhere, that was embarrassing 😭
and milli… still playing with my girl kelsie. he’s officially on the “boy bye” list until he proves otherwise.
as a sequel, it’s messy, emotional, and full of consequences — but sometimes the chaos felt spread thin, which kept it at a 3/5 for me.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Summary: Michelle is haunted by the consequences of her past with Tasheem, especially now that it may have led to her cousin’s death and put Miracle in danger. As she struggles to piece her life back together, Thor is torn between helping her and dealing with his own pain—his mother’s declining health and the emotional weight of his responsibilities. Meanwhile, Kelsie faces a tough choice between Milli, the father of her unborn child, and Kyne, the man who offers stability, while also grappling with betrayal and forgiveness; and Patsy, who appears to have it all, slowly drowns in addiction, desperately hoping her husband Mello will notice before it’s too late.

Tropes and Themes: breaking cycles of pain, domestic violence, resilience, domestic violence survivor.

Character: I am absolutely loving Milli right now. He is such a charmer, and I can see that nurturing empathetic side coming out a lot more in his character.

Thoughts: The way book one ended, there was no way that I could not get book two. I love that Michelle found her inner strength and knew that if she didn't get away from Tasheem, she would be six feet under the next time. Michelle begins to take back her life and pursue her dreams; things that were taken from her while in the relationship with Tasheem, she found again with Thor, including her self-esteem and confidence. Kelsie and Milli are super cute. I loved their love-hate relationship, but I did begin to get irritated by Kelsie's trauma. She had a man that adored her and continued to push him away instead of trying to heal. "I wish she would get herself together." Next, there was Mello, which is Milli's brother. This scoundrel! I hate that he had a secret life besides the one with Patsy. A woman knows when a man is cheating but the ending took me for a surprise...on to book three!

Thor was my favorite character. He was a man of his word and stood on everything he said. Michelle was a little annoying with the back and forth. While I understood that she was traumatized from her time with Tasheem, she never gave Thor grace and he never treated her bad. I understood her points about his mother, but it really wasn't her place. Now Maggie... I can see her becoming a problem.

Kelsie just couldn't catch a break. I really don't get her an Millie. I know the author wants us to believe that there is this love connection between the 2 of them but there hasn't been enough interactions for that story to really make sense. They barely see each other or communicate. And is she really going to act like Millie didn't tell her his homeboy owned that club?

Mello is trash and I like nothing about him. I loved how Thor and Millie called him out when he revealed his secret. Personally, I don't think he loves either of them but he loves the convivence of both of them.

I hope Patsy doesn't spiral. The potential is there for her to make a change but I also think Mello's secret is going to break her. He's really trash.

The ending...I know book 3 is going to be messy.

So So Good!!!!

Wow I swear this book is getting better and better.I can't believe wat all has happened.Michelle's ex is definitely trifling as I don't know wat.how could you do that to a child.Mellow is so wrong,I knew that was pretty much wat was going on.Because of how he was doing his wife.Marcus still ain't gonna change at all and so is his momma.I wish Milli and Kelsie would get it together asap.Because I want them together.Im happy for Michelle because she deserves to be happy after all she went thru.Im so glad Michelle finally got to talk with her mom.Yes finally Tasheem gets wat was coming to him.Oh got wat the heck is Kelsie and Milli doing they getting on my nerves forreal.I feel for Kelsie in a way but dang.Omg that ending was jaw dropping I definitely wasn't expecting that to happen. Now on to part three

wow….

This author knows how to do a cliffhanger. The only think is that I think the plot could move a little faster but this was super engaging. It was great to see Michelle grow and heal with Thor’s support and while it’s a pity all that Kelsie goes through, it’s wonderful that she’s learning and moving on and healing herself without the Milli drama. This book introduced the truth of Patsy and Mello’s relationship behind all the glamour and I really felt for Patsy even though as a character, she didn’t have much going on or going for her. I hope with what she discovers she finds herself outside of being a wife and develops as a character.

This was a page-turner despite not necessarily having much momentum and being slightly all over the place from having so many perspectives. I enjoyed the journey and am diving right into book 3.

It's Getting Sticky!

I didn't put this book down because I had to know what was happening from beginning to end. Kelsi is really going through it, baby girl has been to h3ll and back, yet she still moving. I hope she doesn't mentally break from everything. Milli, I understand and I don't. He know he wants that girl and didn't want to apply pressure because she was giving the FWB vibes even though she liked him. Both of them need to get out of their feelings. However, the way things are going with E, the owner of the club - Milli may be out of luck. Thor and Chelle, I think they're finally getting it, but Patsy and Mello about to have a real come to Jesus moment. Especially after he played in her face and moved her all the way to Atlanta. Like I said, somebody find a mop because it's getting sticky!!!😲

THIS WAS A TERRIFIC READ. I loved every second of it. I was sad about what happened to Miracle but glad at the outcome of that situation. Now Mello, he dirty and I was pretty much hating him after I found out the type shit he had going on. Ohhhhhhh but the endingTHAT ENDING THOUGH... The ending to this book had me just like this:

Loving it, this is a great continuation of part one. More drama, more secrets, and more twist and turns. Likable characters and issues that are realistic and believable. Abuse and the results of an abusive relationship. Infidelity and the truth coming to light makes a great cliffhanger. Deadbeat dad and how he is allowed to get away with it until the woman gets fed up.Mothers who cover for their sons instead of putting them on front street. The author has done a great job bringing this and more into a fantastic read. Job well done!!! Definitely a must read and will be recommending this series to all my friends.

Hot Mess

I am truly hoping things will work out for Thor and Michelle. They are my favorite couple. Kesie gets on my nerves with her immature ways. I don’t blame Milli for his actions towards her because she is full of games.

OMG, don’t let me start on Melli sorry ass. I hate weak ass boys thinking they are men. I true grown ass man would have enough respect to tell his wife he wasn’t all int the marriage and divorced her before doing the messed up shit he did.
I hate stories where women are getting trampled on and the man gets to go live his lif happily ever after.
I wish the writers stop putting women down.

This book right here is............
Mello is the devil and the true villain! How dare you treat your wife like that? Patsy needs help but Mello is not helping her mental with lies and mind games. Milli is frustrating. He never expresses his feelings for Kelsie or got rid of his rooster of women but would get upset when he Doctor BAE around her. Kelsie my heart went out to her this book, and I get that when men break you it hard to trust the next one. Mello and Milli could take a page of out Thor book because so far, his doing good. I still see Maggie being a problem for his relationship with Michelle, but time will tell.

Michelle - Proud of the progress my girl has made and then boom hit with another major blow.

Kelsie - Soon as she feels she has some room to breath and things are looking up she also takes blow after blow.

Tasheem - This man is despicable and should be under a jail.

Thor - Time to face the dark manor demon his mom is up againt

Milli - What he wants is broken and damaged and he has to be willing to help her see she is worth more.

Mello - I'm so mad at him how could he and no wonder he missed major signs with Pat smh!

OVERALL - This was an enjoyable book with a lot going on to keep you pulled in.

ugggghhhhh😑😑😑

I think Michelle the only one that didn’t frustrate or piss me off this go round. I wish I could hug and be there for both Patsy and Kelsie, Patsy’s struggling so bad and alone, Mello gets a thumbs down and middle finger up. Ugh if Millie and Kels just COMMUNICATE AND LISTEN all will be well,I’m rooting for them so hard. Thor and the whole Maggie sits annoyed me so I’m not feeling him at the moment either. Over all lock in, you won’t be disappointed, I mean you will be but not in the fact that you read this series…

The plot is thickening, and all three FMCs are on different paths. Michelle is finally opening her heart again after escaping an abusive relationship, while Kelsie is still unsure if she’s ready to trust another man. But after a traumatic experience, instead of shutting down, she actually starts letting her guard down—which lowkey surprised me.

And Patsy… Lord. 🤦🏾‍♀️ Sis is a wreck, but with the way her husband is doing her, I wouldn’t be mad if she has the ultimate crash out.

So far, this series is giving, and I’m locked in!

Omg book 2 was good !!!! Im so happy Michelle has finally got to the point and realizing that she deserves way more than Tasheem could ever bring to the table. Ugh I actually really like Thor 😍😍😍. He is just what Michelle needs.

Now Kelsie friend get your life together 🤣. Milli ain’t a saint but sheesh girl. Make your mind up.

Melo ???????? What in the world are you doing ??? Yeah you definitely need to get found out because why are you doing this to Patsy and for the last two years sir !??? 4/5 ⭐️

3.5 there were some flubs, and I didn’t like how one very important part was just kinda dusted away.

Otherwise…omg this is some messssss!!! The cliffhanger on this one I saw coming because Mello is not smart, not smart AT ALL!!! I hope Patsy gets it together and focuses on what she needs to. Kelsie needs to let Milli love her and also see a therapist once she does. Thor and Michelle are my favorite part of this series so far. A lot of POV’s and I’m not too confused, but I don’t like how the narrators were different for book 2. Not sure who is doing book 3, but I might just read it on kindle.
