Ryk Brown

Born in 1960 and raised on an overdose of television, NASA, and science fiction, Ryk Brown has worked as a cook, rock guitarist, stage lighting technician, and paramedic. He currently resides in Northern California with his wife, daughter, and cat. By day he fixes computers, and by night he creates stories.
Having spent his entire life "thinking stuff up", the advent of digital publishing has finally given him an excuse to write it all down and share it with others. ("Others" meaning someone other than his poor wife and daughter.)
A long-time fan of all things science and space, his goal is to write and publish an on-going series of sci-fi adventures. To be set in his own version of humanity's future, his characters will explore the vast reaches of the galaxy, and perhaps even the universe. He invites you all to join him on this journey through his vivid imagination.

I have enjoyed the Ryk Brown series and this book is no exception. The story kept me on the edge of my seat. Most of the regular characters are present, but we have some new ones added in this episode. I can not wait for the next book to come out. I enjoyed the shorter book.

I read this as an audiobook downloaded from Audible. The book is seven hours and thirty-five minutes. Jeffrey Kafer does a great job narrating the series.

Always good

I try really hard to not keep track of when a book in this series is about to come out so its always a welcome surprise when it arrives. If you have been following the series from the beginning you feel like you are visiting with old friends as Nathan, Jessica, Cameron, Josh, Loki, Vladimir and so many more bring you up to date with what's happening in their lives.

We get to meet new characters and even some old ones in this book and as always it leaves you wanting more pages to turn!

Episodic Space Opera at its finest

I found Ryk searching Amazon for something new, and was not disappointed.
At first, it seems a bit juvenile, until you realize the author created such powerful characters they seem almost comical.
Then, five books later he ties a detail hinted at earlier, and you get shown the depth hidden all along.
I will continue reading Ryk's most excellent tales with great pleasure

In the first episode of Part 3, Nathan Scott and his band of merry crewmates aboard the Aurora fly straight into an artificially generated singularity at the center of a black hole and come out 535 years in the future. They had no choice as their enemies unleashed an unfamiliar weapon that created a mini black hole. But the risk proved nearly fatal to the brand new spaceship and all hands. In "No Risk Too Great," Nathan must try to salvage his mission and square it with his new location in time and space. The Aurora crash lands on a sparsely inhabited planet in the fringe of space. Most of the ship's systems don't work. Survival is the directive in "No Risk Too Great," and it doesn't look good. While trying to resurrect the Aurora, disaster strikes, and Nathan must decide whether to sell his soul to the devil or let his best friend die. This intense installment keeps the reader's adrenaline flowing. At least it did for me.

Ridiculous but great fun

It really is daft, for a 2nd time, Nathan and crew end up far away and out of their depth. Not only is the scenario a repeat of the first series, but all the crew are here too, by some fluke, including Loki, who wasnt even part of the crew
As ever Nathan does the honourable stuff, with Jess and Ceron trying to reign him in
This time it's the Alliance that Nathan created that has morphed into the supposed enemy
A significant surprise in the last chapter, leads to a cliff hanger. Roll on book 3

awesome 2nd chapter

I have been steadily reading all of the books in this series and I just finished the 2nd book in the theirs installment…. Loved it from the beginning to the end!!!

I would loved to see this as a series… or movie with different sequels.

The writing is engaging and even though it’s all sci-fi… it is written in a way that you are actually living and experiencing in… like it is all real!!! Waiting for next book!

Total change in the plot

In an unexpected plot twist the Aurora and her crew make another unplanned jump into the unknown. Literally, an unknown time and space. Nathan and friends do what they do best, jumping in with both feet and stirring things up while always trying to do the right thing. There are new allies and new enemies and a very surprising character appears at the end.

I've been a Ryk Brown fan since the first of the 'Frontiers Saga' made its debut several years ago in 'Episode 1'. Nobody writes action scenes like Ryk; Multitasking is requisite just to stay up! I have never put one of his novels down to come back to later. Once I start, I have to finish. They are all page turners. This one is no exception. Thank you for yet another thrill ride from the future.

Still the same kick ass series.

I've read every book in this long series. All the way to the original flight of the Aurora. Every last one of them. Is the same as the one before. All mind blowing and assett kicking. I woukd love to have this series in hardback. With signatures on every one of them. Simply one of the best.

I liked the book, however, I don't understand why it takes so long between each book. I read the book in its entirety in 6.5 hours yet I have to wait months in between books. For such a short book , why so long to get them????

Another home run for Mr. Brown.

The stage has been set for another great series of episodes. The familiar characters are as good as ever with new interesting ones being introduced with each episode. I can hardly wait to see how the series continues to unfold.

Second Book of this Series is Better!

So whilst Nathan’s luck just gets worse, worse than Kirks ever was …

Well what do you expect as this is space opera at its finest! Much better, pace has picked up & left on a hanger at the end …

Awesome!

Another fast paced and exciting episode

Can't wait to see when the Aurora will finally be space worthy again, and Nathan and crew can start the real work of creating a better world, because that's what they do.

A great space Odyssey

A space opera with an expansive universe spanning centuries. Well written characters that provoke emotions from their success and failures. Fantastic battles on planets and in space. These books are fun to read and difficult to put down.

New adventures

Weii, well, well...look who is joining the party. The clone of an old ally. I'm actually excited about that. I can't wait to see where this takes the story...on to the next book!

Interesting story line

I enjoyed the book mostly because it was brainless fun. I hope there is another book soon finishing the saga.
