But hey, at least I have a bottle of Whiskey to keep me warm.
I'd had hit a new low when I found my fiance in bed with my best friend.
And apparently not for the first time.
Life couldn’t get any worse.
That was until I suddenly became the captive of a pair of Irish Twins who are set on owning every inch of me.
They commanded me. Owned me. Made me feel things I'd never experienced before.
Secrets would be revealed. Truths would tear apart everything I have ever known.
Can I spy on the man who rescued and raised me or will I betray the only people who ever made me feel wanted?
Layers of subterfuge slowly begin to unravel and the house of cards has begun to crumble.
Will the truth set me free or bind me to another cage? The truth may be buried and dead, but secrets have a way of speaking from the grave.
*** Gypsy Notes: *Sigh* Seamus and Kiernan. Carefree and fun-loving mixed with a hard nut to crack. These two are the loves of my life. Introducing them in Shattered Remnants had my heart pounding and I couldn't wait to tell their story. They are the very foundation of what makes a book boyfriend. And Bailey, sweet, naive, Bailey. They'll never let her go, but that doesn't mean she won't try to get away. She's as sweet at she is sassy. As cunning as she is naive. These two alpha males do not play by the rules.
Stolen Obsession is the first book in a 'dark' series of stand-alones, gritty, with an HEA, no cliffhangers, and plenty of spicy sandwiches. See author site for CWs. This is a rewrite of Irish Whiskey Rules. More scenes and plot changes were added to make for a longer, more compelling story.
Jo McCall writes dark, contemporary and paranormal romance with a mafia focus.
A paramedic for over ten years, Jo traded in her stethoscope for paper and pen after an injury left her unable to finish out her career.
She is an avid reader of anything dark and steamy and when she isn’t writing, you can find her making a rather large dent in her TBR.
She is a lover of strong but vulnerable heroines who find their own and hot, sexy alpha males who might be a tad bit over-possessive. Jo loves to lose herself in her characters and the flaws and darkness that surround them.
There is no shame found here, and she often gets lost when writing out those erotic, steamy scenes that make women’s (and men’s) fantasies come true.
“There is nothing like getting lost in something. you know is wrong, but still can’t resist.”
Jo currently resides in the beautiful state of Washington with her two dogs.
Still love this book! And this author. Still think Bailey should have made these men grovel more lol.
4.5 stole my heart stars!
Stolen Obsession is the first book in the Kavanaugh Crime Family series and is connected to other books Jo has written. I have not read those other stories but this was able to read as a standalone to some degree and I still immensely enjoyed it.
Bailey happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and ends up kidnapped by Seamus and Kiernan. The heat between these three is incendiary and I fanned myself several times. I loved their chemistry and development together and the action and suspense that went along with their story.
My ONLY complaint is Bailey should have made these men work for her trust and affection back more and there should have been a much bigger grovel from her men. However, I loved Bailey's strength and fortitude and Seamus and Kiernan's possessive and demanding dynamic with her. Overall, a spicy and fun read.
My only criticism is it’s too short - I wanted more but it is a novella so I’ll have to be content with that!
This is extremely steamy but there is plot! And Jo is so good at writing mafia/mob/bratva and the story will suck you in. This book is one that gets read in one sitting - once you start you won’t be putting it down!
This is a great standalone and introduction to the twins BUT if you really want to enhance your reading experience, once you are done go and read Jo McCall’s Shattered World Series, which is where I first met the twins, then read the novella again - you will thank me later😜
These two men just leave you swooning through the whole book. Bailey was a good fmc. I struggle often with liking fmc in books, but Jo does a great job of building a strong female to like.
This book does pick up from the Shattered world, but you won't miss out on anything or be lost if you don't read those first. This will make you want to go back and read Ava and Matthias
I hope that I can give this review with absolutely no problem and based on how I review books, I think all that follow me on Bookstagram should already know that tropes and the way the story tugs at my heart and emotions matter in my ratings. I think we all know by now that I don't like love triangles. I dislike them so much; I avoid them like the plague. Despite the fact that I can opt-out of ARC reading being in the ARC Team and all, I don't like to do that. I want to give the stories a fair chance and that's what I did. Irish Whiskey Rules was well-written and the smut scenes were great. The two males were introduced to me as one package deal that made me like the book. Despite that, I really thought I was not gonna like it and end up DNF-ing it but I was proven wrong.
Our FMC, Bailey, has just found something that's made her very upset and she ends up somewhere where she isn't supposed to be at at that time of hour. This is where she is introduced to her two love interests: Seamus and Kiernan. I quite enjoyed the way they were introduced to her: together. When the love interests are introduced separately and at different times, it makes it difficult to connect with the other as much as I would the first. Especially, when it comes to smut scenes. Jo McCall did a great job at introducing these twins as a package deal. Bailey, and myself as a reader, was able to meet and know more about them as they interacted with from then on. I was able to connect with the both at different levels but still register in my mind that this is a why-choose-? story.
Then I thought I was getting the most painful plot twist ever that broke my heart. I was ready to throw hands😂 Then I was given the other so we're good now 💀
This book was a quick and fun mix of Irish mafia, motorcycle club, and other random organized crime groups all medaling in each other's business. If you want a dark, spicy, witty, and short read, this may be the book for you.
I really enjoyed this book, and while I do wish we had more time to fully connect with the character’s, I think for the most part everything flowed pretty smoothly.
I loved Bailey’s character so much. No matter what the twins threw at her, she never lost her spark. I’m not gonna lie, you will hate her dad through most of this book, but I feel like the ending does a good job of explaining everything about him well enough.
I think the only thing I had a problem with this book was the ending with Bailey and one of the twins(don’t want to spoil who). I feel like she was feeling so much betrayal because of what happened, and then the literal next time she sees him she's running into his arms. No apology, no groveling, no nothing. I just feel like he should have had to work for her trust back.
This book is labeled as being a part of the Shattered World series, however I read this without any prior knowledge of the series and it is able to be read as a complete standalone from that series.
This was my first read from this author and I can definitely say I will be checking more of their books out in the future.
Thank you to The Smuthood and Jo McCall for the ARC copy of this book, these are all my honest opinions.
Bailey just found her ex cheating on her and leaves. When her car breaks down in a parking lot next to a bar, it seems like a sign to drink her problems away. That is until she witnesses something she shouldn't. Now she's been taken and the next series of events that occur will unravel the world she thought she knew.
4.5 Stars I loved Bailey and the strength and attitude she held through the book. She is a bad@ss and doesn't let anyone bring her down. Kiernan and Seamus are two Irish mafia men who have their own agendas, but when it comes to Bailey they can only focus on her. Their relationship may be unconventional, but they are perfect together. I really loved the added Irish/Gaelic phrases from the author and the way they made the story more real.
The only reason for the half star deduction, is because the story was predictable. We have a mafia princess, taken by another mafia (unintentional or not) and they fall in love and take down a bigger operation that threatens both sides. I could pretty easily guess what was coming, but the author did add in a couple little surprises that made the story more entertaining.
I really enjoyed this exciting, spicy, and at times funny kidnapping novella.
After catching her fiancé in bed with her best friend, Bailey’s car breaks down. She ends up witnessing a murder and gets kidnapped by the perpetrators, Irish Mafia heirs and twins Seamus and Kiernan.
I loved Bailey. I cracked up all throughout the novella as she continued to scold her “inner hussy” for wanting her kidnappers. Honestly, I think her inner hussy might be my spirit animal. There is no way any sane woman would have been able to resist Seamus and Kiernan. The twins share her, and both have Jacob’s ladder piercings. I’m a total sucker for a pierced hero and I loved that the twins are identical in every way.
The story moved quickly and had an exciting and suspenseful story to go along with the spice. The plot kept me guessing the whole time. I really enjoyed this novella and it made me want to read the author’s Shattered World Series where the twins are first introduced.
Irish Whiskey Rules, by Jo McCall, is set in the Shattered World Universe. While reading the other books in this Universe may be helpful, Whiskey Rules is a standalone.
Bailey is an investigative reporter who’s been betrayed by her fiancé and best friend. Trying to escape this betrayal, she finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time, and witnesses the Kavanaugh twins (Kiernan and Seamus) commit a crime. Rather than kill Bailey, however, the twins take her and make her theirs.
As feelings develop between her and the twins, Bailey finds out that her life wasn’t what it seemed.
This book had action, suspense, and a ton of spice! Plus, Bailey’s inner hussy was absolutely hilarious! It was an easy read (started it this morning and just finished it), and well worth the read!
Twin sandwich! Jacobs ladder! Steamy scenes! Sassy yet submissive female, two dominant men who are all about the pleasure. The details and character building make Bailey, Seamus and Kiernan really come to life. When you laughing, holding your breath, or getting annoyed when the page won’t turn fast enough you know it’s a great book. Bailey’s life is about to get turned upside down. And when you think you figured it out, you’ll see you were wrong. Seamus and Kiernan show Bailey what she has been missing, and at the same time she is showing them too. Like always with Jo McCall you are left wanting more!!!
- kidnapped by Irish mafia twins! praise k!nk, domination, rival families, MFM relationship, 🍑👋🏼 and play - this is a lot of s3x - and all of that s3x was incredibly hot - it all just felt very quick?? like i don’t think Stockholm Syndrome can kick in after a day - i’m gonna be honest, this plot confused me for most of the story?? - okay but i LOVED the ending it was so satisfying - really great side characters! - and absolutely loved the twins - but no epilogue?? it definitely needed *OKAY I FOUND THE EPILOGUE IT WASN’T IN MINE* - okay i LOVED the epilogue, it was fucking kickass and just made me respect Bailey even more than i did
I absolutely adored this story: hot Irish twins with piercings 😉, sassy heroine, action, a little bit of drama and a lot of 🥵 - recipe for success if you ask me. I have to say I am really intrigued by the rest of the characters and will be checking their stories out. The book seemed rushed towards the end and I would have liked a little more grovelling from the twins, but overall a good story. P.S. the 5 question scene…not fair on the girl 😂
I loved the plot! So many twists and turns and honestly I didn't see half of the coming! I would have liked more background in the beginning on some of the characters but things are all explained in the end.
First I loved this book but I do have a couple of problems. One it was too darn short! I need more! Two, I feel like there were a few moments just kind of rushed. This could just be because this is a Novella. Other than that I freaking loved it. This was my first read by this Author and now I can’t wait to read more. Let me say I usually have issues with Captive/Kidnapped books because a lot of Authors take it to the Stockholm side. Jo McCall did not and I love that. Even though it was short and steamy it also had a plot. If you like Twins, Morally Grey Characters, Forced Proximity, Double Penetration oh yeah, and pierced equipment then this book is for you!
Let me start off by saying this is by far one of the best books I’ve ever read! It had me in its grips in the first chapter. The relationship between Kiernan, Seamus, and Bailey is very emotional. There was times I wanted to throw my phone across the room. (Mostly because of Kiernan.) But the twist and turns are what kept me from putting the book down! Trust me you have to read this book!
Jo McCall takes us back into her Shattered World with this spin-off. We met Ava's family in Shattered Remnants and this book is all about them. Ava's brothers, twins Kiernan and Seamus, get their own dark and dirty story. I was absolutely intrigued by these two but I had no idea I wanted their story as much as I did. Jo outdid herself with these two, they may be the bad guys but I'm here to be bad right along with them.
While getting a glimpse of these characters before, Jo did an amazing job really opening up these two and delving into who they are at their core. The way they are written brings them to life so easily and it was easy to picture it all.
These two are huge, towering, dangerous men, heirs to the Irish Mafia and raised to rule. Seamus is the more relaxed and playful of the two but no less alpha. Kiernan is much more stoic and quiet but is able to let those he cares up in all the way. They are complete mirrors of each other down to every finer detail. Sharing is not something new to them, and neither has ever felt anything for a girl before but Bailey enters their world and the whole thing tilts.
This was a great enemies-to-lovers, dark, mafia romance. You get suspense, forced proximity, and danger all rolled into this spicy little book of goodness. Plus as a nice added bonus there are some really great funny moments too, Bailey's inner voice made me laugh several times.
So happy I have found Jo McCall, I really look forward to what she brings out next as well as more of the Shattered World series. . . . Bailey's life just took a turn, finding her cheating fiance with her supposed best friend well that just flipped her life upside day. Since she was 16 she's been with Drew, never really 100% sure about him but sure that it would work out in the end. One bottle of whiskey later, a broken-down car, and witnessing a murder, well that just rounds out her day.
While Kiernan and Seamus are taking care of some idiot who thought they could target their sister Ava, they didn't think to check the back of the bar they owned before finishing him off. Now they have a witness, not just any witness a beautiful one, one who happens to be an investigative reporter. They should just deal with her but they go the other route. Kidnapping her and keeping her captive, they'll own her until they decide how to deal with her.
Bailey can't believe the turn her life has taken. How did she end up here? Getting away from her father who never really cared about her and finally gaining some freedom was all she ever wanted. Now she has no freedom kept locked up under the watchful eyes of Kiernan and Seamus Kavanaugh, Irish Mafia. If she survives she'll never be the same. The only problem is she's not nearly as terrified of them as she should be. Something about them wakes her up and as much as she fights it she's drawn to them, she wants them, and damn it if she can convince herself that it's a bad idea. 'This is the man who's about to kill you, idiot. My vagina didn't seem to care. She was too busy throwing a pussy power party.'
Kiernan and Seamus prepare for their father's wrath but surprisingly he allows them to deal with the mess their way. What worries him though is what they find out about who Bailey really is. With ties to a well-connected motorcycle club, dirty politicians, and her fiance CEO of a private armed forces security company. All of that adds up to so much more trouble than they were prepared for. The decision as to how to move forward wouldn't be easy. They could use her for information, they could use her as leverage over her father, they could end her and remove the risk or they could keep her.
With a plan in place, the twins force their way past Bailey's walls, and despite the best-laid plans, they all find themselves crashing into one another at a pace that could only end in a mess.
When Ava and Mathias attend dinner, Bailey gets to see a different side of the boys and the family. She's not sure what she expected but this was not it. Bailey becomes a key role in a plan they have for working on taking down Ava's evil not-brother Christan, and whoever is pulling his strings. It may also help Bailey who has been searching for her missing friend for months. Despite the reluctance of the twins especially Keirnan, they set out to infiltrate an underground auction.
The players involved surprise them all and there are more secrets buried than they expected. The whole night ends badly for all involved. They may never recover from the events of that night but Keirnan and Seamus refuse to give up on Bailey, when they're done they will never let her out of their sight again and Bailey will find a truth she never even expected.
'The world was a dark and dangerous place. Deception and violence lurked in every corner. But that didn't mean it wasn't worth saving. It just meant that a little more light was needed in the darkness.'
Irish Whiskey Rules by Jo McCall was absolutely everything you could ever ask for in a dark Irish Mafia romance and more! McCall truly outdid herself with this one! I didn’t think she could top her first two, but holy hell did the Kavanaugh twins surpass every expectation!!! 🔥🥵🔥
When i first got a glimpse of the deliciously hot Irish twins in Shattered Remnants, I just knew Kiernan and Seamus were going to be absolutely amazing and McCall did NOT let us down! This fast burn romance is full of domineering alphas, a feisty heroine and tons of spicy steam, explosive chemistry and hilarious banter it’s sure to please any dark romance loving fan!
Bailey, our fierce and feisty heroine, is dealing with troubles of her own in the form of a questionable home life, a cheating lying fiancé and a treacherous best friend, when sudden discoveries send her running into the night. And straight into the arms of the Kavanaugh twins—heirs of the Irish mafia that her own father is at war with. When given then option of complying versus dying Bailey has no other choice then to see where things take her….much to the pleasure of all parties involved ;)
“You aren’t going anywhere, lass. You belong to us.”
I loved how strong Bailey was, even given her back story, and how she never truly stopped fighting—even when her inner hussy was totally on board with what was going on. McCall did a phenomenal job of creating captivating characters with such depth and dimension and an intriguing plot that wove their stories so perfectly together. And let’s just say that in this story Kiernan and Seamus truly stole the show (and my heart!) right from the start! Seeing these two alpha males slowly succumb to their attraction for Bailey was utter perfection! If you love dark, domineering, bad guys that value family and trust above all else, then these brothers are for you!
“Fola roimh gach ní eile”
So what are you waiting for? Trust me—if you’re a fan of dark mafia romances filled with sexy domineering alpha Irish twins, a feisty heroine that slowly comes into her own, as well as tons of delicious steamy spice and enough twists and turns to keep you guessing then this is the book for you! Truly this book has become my favorite of Jo’s for sure and is a definite must read!
WOW!! Jo just keeps delivering. This book was so good , and what it added to the world she is building was chiefs kiss. No worries if you haven’t read Shattered Pieces or Shattered Remnants yet( but seriously what are you waiting for) you can definitely still read Irish Whiskey Rules and be fine. Jo provides you with enough backstory but doesn’t weigh it down. I would personally recommend you read SP & SR 1st because it made the reading experience so much more fun. Making the connections and piecing together the clues, especially when something clicked from the Shattered books was pretty exciting. I also loved how in this connected world Irish Whiskey Rules was its own story. Now in true Jo fashion you are getting spice and I mean spicy, spicy 🥵 so if your looking for a sweet , fade to black type romance this isn’t for you. At the beginning you think your getting one thing but by the end you’ve been taking on a journey with Bailey and ended up somewhere completely different. I wouldn’t say this ended on a cliffhanger more like I’m excited to see what’s next feeling. So much is coming in this connected Seattle underworld and I’m here for it! Now beware this is a dark mafia romance and it does stay true to being dark. Your are getting very spicy & descriptive sex scenes , this is a mafia themed story so you are getting that world and the violence , also this world touches heavily on human trafficking so please beware of that. Please do your own homework on anything that might trigger or make you uncomfortable. Once you ready dive into this world and enjoy the ride!!! ☘️💚🇮🇪 Happy Reading Book Besties💙
Another amazing hit from Jo McCall. I have absolutely fell in love with this author her books are phenomenal and draw you in from the first chapter. The characters make you want to be in the book with them. Bailey has had a rough day first she finds her man cheating on her with her best friend then her car breaks down and now she has seen a murder and been kidnapped. Seamus and Kiernan have decided to keep her but is all what it seems. These two hot blooded Alpha Irish males will make you swoon and your heart pound. This story has a lot of twists and secrets and it all comes out in a smooth manner that makes your heart beat faster. What is happening and what is true. When you though they all were falling in love bam something changes everything. This book will keep you on your toes as well as make you sweat with the electric chemistry these three have. I also loved seeing other characters brought into the story line made it just that much better. I was given this book as an ARC for my honest review.
I have tried to write this review multiple times. I don’t know how this girl does it but her books are off the chart amazing the detail, the character building, the characters themselves and the smut it’s just all top notch five stars every time!!
I’m just saying sign me up for Ireland because damn I need me two badass Irish men in my life!!!
The testosterone in this book had me wishing I had the gadget from Amazon that turns your page is for you if you know what I mean!!!
I don’t ever put spoilers in my reviews but I have to tell you that if you have not read any of Jo’s books you need to because her books are amazing you don’t have to read her other book shattered pieces and shattered remnants to read this one but it all ties together so you should honestly.
10/10 like every other book I read from her I cannot wait to read more go read this book when it comes out cause lord!!!! 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵
Bailey is a reporter who got caught eavesdropping and is a witness to an unaliving. The Kavanaugh twins take her to their home, they plan to keep her. But they uncover her real identity. She is the daughter of a prominent criminal family who has been the rival of the Kavanaugh’s.
She offers to help the Kavanaugh’s by going undercover but the plan doesn’t go as planned. Or at least how she had planned. How will it end? Will she be alive in a day, a month, a year? Will anyone save her?
I really enjoyed this storyline! The Kavanaugh twins were dominant but also caring and protective. I liked the background we got on Bailey but I would’ve liked to know a little more. I’m giving this a 4 rating because I felt the ending was a little rushed and those darn boys NEEDED to grovel at her feet 😈
I am a fan of Jo’s and will continue to read more from her 😉
If you are looking for something off the charts sexy, spicy and full of steam with an actual storyline then this baby is for you. We meet and get to know the twins Kiernan and Seamus which if you have started the Shattered World we get a glimpse of them in Ava’s second book and we meet Bailey. Bailey is what these twins needed in their lives even if they didn’t know if yet. These three really shine through out this book and our author does a fantastic job of adding to her world and character building. There are twists and turns, things you didn’t see coming and just when you think you might have it figure out NOPE Jo throws your a$$ for a loop. I freaking love that about her writing!!!! This was a quick read and I am a greedy hoe and I will always want more… JOB WELL DONE!!!
I absolutely loved this book! Bailey is definitely a bad ass, and the twins bring out that side of her 100%.
At the start of this book Bailey is engaged, but finds her fiancé in their bed with her best friend. After packing a bag and leaving the house, she aimlessly drives around. Her car ends up braking down, and she witnesses something she shouldn’t have. Enter the twins, Seamus and Kiernan. It’s a roller coaster of events after that.
My one and only complaint, I need need need more of these 3.
This book is part of the Shattered World, it is not necessary, but I do highly suggest reading the first 2 books in that series before reading this. There is some information that would spoil thing if this is read before hand.
I want to be in this twin sandwich!! Good Lord, these men are HOT!!!
Bailey has just found her fiancee cheating on her, her car has broken down, and she is drinking her sorrows. She ends up seeing something she wasn't supposed to see, and Kiernan and Seamus take her, in more ways than one 😂😂😂
Bailey is awesome!! She is feisty and the nickname Wildcat fits her perfectly!! And these twins will have you drooling over their naughty mouths and their Jacob ladders!!!
I was on the edge of my seat while reading this!! And I loved seeing Ava and Matthias!!! I absolutely love Irish Whiskey Rules, you guys are gonna want to read this!!!
I was given this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I can confirm my review is my own
I loved this book. It was a nice quick read and had me hooked from the start. I loved bailey she is a strong FMC who knows what she wants and doesn't take things laying down. I think I have added two more book boyfriends to my list. Kiernan and Seamus are just ahh incredible I can picture them so well and well they had me hot under the collar on a few occasions. The story was well balanced it had the right amount of spice to action and it just flowed so smoothly.
Thankyou so much for allowing me the chance to read this. Was definitely not disappointed
rish whiskey rules by @jomccallauthor was a keep you guessing hot steamy quick read that we absolutely devoured!! Bailey, Seamus and Kiernan are amazing!! These hot as sin Irish twins are delicious and possessive and we are here for it !! When they decided Bailey was gonna be theirs she didn’t stand a chance of every going back 🙌🏻🙌🏻🥵🥵 this story has a strong sassy heroine, alpha twins who share 😉 drama, a crazy plot twist and some hot as hell moments !!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶🌶 #smuthood #deepinthesmut #Kavanaughcrimefamily
So, an innocent reporter who gets kidnapped by twins....I would not object to being said reporter. Besides being a spicy story (they share!) there's also a story. Twist on who's who in Bailey's life. Should she trust the fiancé she found cheating on her? Or her best friend that was in bed with him? Of course not! Then her father? Nope, not really. But these two men? They are honest in the sense they want her and sometimes, don't actions speak louder than words?
When Seamus and Kiernan were introduced in Shattered Remnants I instantly wanted more of them. I mean, who can resist a set of big, sexy twins with accents? They are set to inherit the throne of the Irish mafia from their father. One night while they’re taking care of a guy that attacked their sister they meet Bailey. She’s an investigative reporter but was in the back alley of their club by coincidence because her car had broken down after she caught her fiancé cheating on her with her best friend. So she was already having a pretty shitty day when the twins kidnap her to keep her quiet about what she saw. The more time they all spend together the more their chemistry builds. Can you say twin sandwich? Oh and did I mention matching jacobs ladders? Mmhhmmm 🥵😮💨 The spice is top notch. There are twists and turns that will have you saying wtf more than once. I loved this book and need more of the twins.
