DEJA
I’m running again. Running. Running.
The danger at my back is the only thing spurring me on because my body will give up soon.
Because I’m dying and the world is ending.
I might not make it.
And when a demon appears before me, I know my time is up.
I’m not going down without a fight.
But no one warned me that demons don’t only devour your soul…sometimes…they consume your heart as well.

FI’ROX
No mate has called to me, and I tell myself I do not need one.
As I stare into the darkness, images of Edooria’s fall replay in my mind.
That is why I am here.
I failed to protect my kin. My home.
I watched it all fall.
And my punishment is to do everything I can, even if it means giving up my life, to make the Gryken pay.
The pleasure of a female…a mate…is off limits until I serve my sleekt and fulfill this task.
But Dey’jah…
She calls to me. No other female has dared come as close as she has, and now that I have touched her, I do not want to let her go.

This is the third book in the series and picks up where we left off and though each story features a separate couple these do need to be read in order as there is an ongoing story-arc running throughout. So Deja was one of the women from the captured clan we encountered in the previous book. After the Gryken attack and being horrifically injured she flees the carnage running away into the forest.

Fi’Rox is the Vullan charged with her retrieval he’s the newest member of his team and as such his status is low. Tracking the injured female he’s surprised she’s made it so far and also dubious she still lives and when he eventually locates her it’s obvious to him that her injuries are severe.
Healing her with his ba’clan is his only option when they don’t bond to her other than to heal he concludes they are not mates but he still finds himself fascinated and drawn to the alien female.

De’ja is naturally frightened of this other-worldly being initially thinking he means to do her harm but it’s not long before she concludes that he doesn’t and discovering that they actually share a common foe and agenda the enemy of my enemy is my friend soon comes into play. Distrustful of this swift change in attitude Fi’Rox withholds his judgement whilst at the same time, every one of his instincts is drawing him towards De’ja despite thinking they are not mates so he can not keep her. As the danger intensifies these two unlikely new companions start to connect and build bridges and inevitably despite everything find themselves succumbing to their mutual attraction.

De’ja is different from the previous heroines she seems much more pro-active when it comes to her own survival. This girl is strong and she has an incredible will to survive. she comes complete with a tragic past and life’s knocks have only strengthened her backbone she has embraced her fear and doesn’t allow it to cripple her instead using it to further motivate her actions. Fi’Rox came across as more humorous than his brethren he had a lot of personality but he also doesn’t feel he deserves a mate he still desperately wants De’ja but is also scared of her rejection. This is also more edge of your seat than others in the series. Things really do escalate here further pushing the current agenda.

The chemistry and romance were again well done and I liked these two as a pairing I also liked that De’ja was a POC and that she wasn’t conventionally thin. This girl had booty and sass and didn’t seem to take as long to come around to the idea of mating her new alien ally as the previous females. I liked that she judged Fi’Rox based on his actions towards her rather than the fact he was an alien.

But what was with the two's separation back at base zero you’d think these aliens would wake up and realise these pairings are occurring and not just automatically assume the worst when each one occurs. In the scheme of things though this is a small niggle and I enjoyed everything else. As usual, this was well written with some brilliant world building and I’m definitely more than ready to read the next instalment. Unfortunately, it’s not out until August so I will have to wait. I definitely recommend this series it’s so imaginative

Eh it feels phoned in. The couple traipse through the woods, fight a few bad aliens, then return home. The formula needs to get mixed up.

Also the sentences are choppy and redundant. It makes me wonder if the other books are written this way and I just didn't notice until now? I probably won't continue the series

AG Wilde's sci-fi book three, Cataclysm, is part of the dark-themed Captured Earth series that kicks off in an explosive way. What first looks like a meteor shower, they soon learn it is the death of humanity. Parasitic creatures who destroy all they come into contact with as they pillage and plunge, murder and rape through everything.

Hot on their heels are aliens that have lost everything to these creatures, hoping to stop them before it is too late. These new aliens are everything the parasites are not. They are loyal, have courage, and will take on all looming threats that jeopardise their lives and the lives they swore to protect. These alpha heroes find something they thought would never be possible, and that is a connection with humans and their mates in the face of uncertainty and danger.

Cataclysm is high-stakes danger with romance, action, tension, vicious battles, danger, and suspense. A series that should not be missed.

I devoured this book like there was no tomorrow, I almost couldn’t put it down. The story picked up in a different direction and there were so many new things happening. Honestly, I was not expecting the developments that happened and I love being surprised by a good plot. This series has definitely being a ride.
The highlight of this book for me is the kickass heroine. Yes, the previous two were incredible as well, but this one was a fighter from the beginning. She was not read to give up at all, despite her heartaches, she never lost hope that she could survive somehow. The hero was reluctant in each and every way, but I enjoyed him a lot. They were really good together and I adored the slight twist with them, that made both confused but willing to fight for each other.
I will be very honest, I was not expecting this series to be as good as it has been. I picked it up after reading another book from A.G. Wilde and decided to give it a change. It was better than the first book that I read by her and I’m so happy I went with it. I had been looking forward something that would truly make me voracious to read again and this is it. I’m continuing this series right away and can’t wait to see what else is coming.

This was a solid 4.98 for me. As soon as I learned about Deja in book two I knew I was gonna love this one. But lemme get my minor complaints out of the way before I gush.

There were quite a bit of errors in this one. Spelling and or missing a whole ass word at times. However, that didn’t take away from the story, at least not for me. Just something I noticed more in this one more than the other two.

My other “complaint” might just be based on the fact that I’m an idiot…but I kept reading his name as Fee-Row…..which is way too close to the name of the guy in the first book (Fer’ro). Again, I could just be a boob, and the names are no where close to sounding the same. But as I digress, I seem to have forgotten my other complaint so....

On to the gushing:

Deja and Fi’rox were so perfect together. Deja was very caring and turned out to be a huge asset to Fi’rox and the whole mission. She wasn’t just some little pushover trying to hurry up and get back to the base. And Fi’rox was a breath of fresh friggen air. While the other two Vullan were pretty similar and almost dry personality wise. Fi’rox had a ton of personality. His inner thoughts made me chuckle at times and I loved his relationship with Deja and how he didn’t always handle her with kid gloves.

The action was spot on and heart clenching at times. I was rooting for these two in more than one scenario. Some of the situations they uncovered I am dying to know more about, and I really wish they could be explored by these two because they’re legit the dynamic duo. But alas, the next book has got to be about another couple *waaa*

I also wish we could have taken a deeper dive into Fi’rox’s past. Like, it was kind of brought up, skimmed over, then left in the weeds to never be brought up again. And I was intrigued, man!

Oh! Just remembered my other complaint — it’s a SPOILER though, so be warned…

Why, in the name of Zeus’ buttcrack — did they have to be separated for TWO DAYS when they got back to the ship??! We’ve already had two damn girls go through this whole bac’lan mate thing - and those two didn’t get imprisoned. But Fi’rox?! Come on now. Those other two girls would have lost their shit, and so would the males. I think Deja and Fi’rox handled it exceptionally well, considering, but how unfair was that? Idk wasn’t happy about that at all. And it didn’t really make sense.

But anyway- I’m not actually sure who the next one will be about, but regardless, can’t wait to wrap up the series. Thanks AG for another one (DJ Khalid voice)

Cataclysm de A.G. Wilde serie Captured Earth libro 3

Argumento:

Deja

Estoy corriendo de nuevo. Correr. Correr.

No pude proteger a mi familia.

Ella me llama.

Deja (Vu)

Deja is the very same woman from the second book that fled the sight of an attack after she was injured by a Gryken. The Gryken attacked Earth and decimated most of mankind. Fi'Rox is a Vullan, an ally of mankind, that is dispatched from Base Zero to find Deja. She's injured and delirious and not too friendly when they first meet. I enjoyed this book because her struggles and determination felt genuine. Her history of loss and anguish only added depth to her emotions. Curious to learn what the dangerous Gryken have planned and how our group will overcome and emerge victorious.

we get more

So we get better descriptions of the aliens with each book. I was meh over Deja as a character. She was the least connected one and had the least amount of depth for this type of back story. But she at least had one.

Alas, I didn’t enjoy this as much as the first two, there were a bunch of mistakes that should have been picked up by a spell checker, which definitely influenced my enjoyment of the book. I didn’t find the romance between the main characters as good as the first two either.

Much like the last one, this one wasn't bad but it wasn't all that exciting either. And I think the biggest problem here was that it was just too much like the last one for most of the book.

Deja is the one who ran away during the fight with the Gryken. She was really hurt then but somehow manages to make it a good distance away before she collapses from the pain and the blood loss. Unfortunately for her, the first and only human she encounters is a male that has been hiding out in some abandoned cars and is determined to not let her stay because she's female and the aliens want the women. He's so determined, in fact, that he's apparently willing to kill her to protect himself.

Fi'rox is the youngest of the Vullen and has been tasked with finding the female that fled. And he really wants to prove himself by doing this right. It's not hard to track Deja because she left a very clear trail of blood behind her, and he finds her just in time to protect her from the other human. But like I said, Deja is in a bad way and the only way to save her life now is to send some of his ba'clan to her to stop the bleeding and start the healing.

And this is where it became just like the last book. Fi'rox and Deja come across the visitor's center and hold up there while she heals. So of course, these two become closer to each other the more time they spend together. And, of course, neither can fight the desire they have for the other anymore. This is all despite the fact that Fi'rox is convinced that Deja isn't even his mate because he didn't feel an instant draw to her. They too get their sanctuary invaded by a human. But thankfully the story finally goes its own way here.

This human is covered with red veins that are just like the ones that the Gryken ship has forced into the earth, and it is abundantly clear that she is being controlled. They can't delay going back to the base any longer and when they get back to where the ship has planted itself, they realize things are much much worse than anyone could have expected. We get some good action here while these two do what needs to done before they are literally blown away. Eventually they get rescued when the others notice what was going on and came to investigate.

When they were finally back at the base, I became more frustrated than anything. First, I hated the attitude that Deja took on. I cannot stand when females become bossy and demanding just because they're not getting their way. Grow the fuck up. Second, I get why the Vullen did what they did with these two, but at the same time, it seemed like something that could have been cleared up really quick with a simple conversation.

One thing I really did like about this one was what happened with the ba'clan Fi'rox sent to Deja. Well, at first anyway. In the end though, it was nothing different so that was unfortunate.

Now to see how this thing ends.

I was absolutely FLOORED by this book. It was thrilling, adventurous, terrifying, disturbing, emotional, romantic and need I go on?

I loved the first two books in this series and I’m so happy to say this book did not disappoint either. In fact it exceeded my expectations which I didn’t even think was possible. A.G.Wilde has quickly one of my favourite authors of all time and this series is her best work, imo.

The author is amazing at writing an exciting and adventurous plots but out of all her other series, this is the most gripping and unputdownable. This book is extremely atmospheric and sucks you right into this post apocalyptic world. And the fact that the bad aliens in this series are actually so sinister and genuinely terrifying (unlike the reptile/alligator aliens in many other alien romances who are just sorry excuses of villains) just raises the stakes and makes the story so much more interesting.

The romance in this book was just fantastic. Deja and Fi’Rox have all of my heart. Their dynamic was brilliant. They had amazing chemistry, great banter and stellar compatibility. They supported each other so well throughout the events of this book.

I loved watching them slowly get to know each other, trust each other, befriend each other and fall in love. I adored both the MCs and their flaws and insecurities just made them that much more relatable and interesting to read.

I was especially touched by Deja’s backstory and it made me quite emotional. I think the author handled Deja’s grief and healing process beautifully and I truly appreciate that she makes it a point to mention possible trigger warnings before all her books.

(NOT REALLY A SPOILER BUT JUST IN CASE SKIP THE NEXT PARA IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE BOOK)
Then there was this one thing that gets revealed at the end of the book about a certain character which took me completely by surprise and made me so extremely emotional (in the best possible way). It showed that the author has true compassion for the sufferings of her characters and doesn’t just add trauma and dark content to a book for the sake of shock value. That particular part of the book made me fall in love with the author’s writing all over again and made this book my favourite of the series so far.

I absolutely adore this series and cannot wait to read the upcoming books. Thank you author for creating this brilliant and unique world in the midst of so many other sci-fi alien romances which all pretty much read the same way.

CWs / Spoilers: Loss of a child (in the past), violence, death, gore, mind-control/ brutalisation/manipulation (of minor side characters)

And while I wait for the next book in this series to come out, I’m gonna go and read the rest of this author’s backlist! Cheerio!

Getting tired of the cry of rape being shouted every book. If they are fated mates and so against hurting women, there wouldn’t be rap. Please let it go.

Also if this girl had been stuck with 2 rapey controlling men there would be some mental healing that would have to take place before jumping in the sack. None of the horror she must have faced with the other guys even came up. Huge plot hole making this a full of so many eye rolls I had to drop it 2 stars

Ok - Liked it

A post-alien-apocalypse science fiction romance where the heroine goes from terrified of him to lust and then together they tackle a dangerous mission. The heroine, Deja, is a dark-skinned woman scarred from the death of her daughter in a car crash 5 years ago, but possessing a strong will to survive. The hero, Fi'rox, is the newest and least experienced of their unit and is focused on revenge against the alien invaders, not finding a mate. I had a few problems with this book in the beginning. It reads at first like a language barrier trope with her having no idea what's going on and little communication. However, the hero is perfectly capable of speaking English and explaining; he just doesn't. I think that was supposed to come across as a cultural difference, but to me it just made him look like a jerk. So, the first half of the book was an ok for me, after they got past that I liked it.

*****Spoiler Alert*****
This Book Includes
Violence.
Injured near-death scenes, running for life, nearly gun shot, death of minor characters, attack by mountain lion, fantasy type violence against tentacle / spider aliens with space guns and symbiotic armor weapons, mind control, evidence of injuries to mind-controlled, reference to death of infant by car crash and near-death of infant by abandonment / being hidden, bad aliens kidnapping and impregnating women and using men's blood?, explosion, aggression between males.
Sex. MF sex, some hand pinning.

Alien Description
Nearly 7 feet tall, black symbiotic armor & black-skin underneath, muscled, eye color varies, pointed ears that move to express emotion, fangs, ridges on face & body, silted eyes, enhanced night vision and sense of smell compared to humans.

Things That Bothered Me
There's a line where he basically says that he knows she is terrified of him, but there's nothing he can do. My take is nothing except for the very obvious thing of talking to her. Or perhaps answering her question of what he wants from her.
Along the same vein when he knows she is terrified a couple times he teases her. I see no way to interpret that other than that he is a jerk or worse to be amused by someone else's fear for their life. It's that or we aren't supposed to be taking her fear for her life seriously.

🔥 “I will not eat you, little fire. Not yet.”
~~~
Deja is one of the women we met in the previous book. Injured by the Gryken, she’s now running for her life. She’s so strong and brave and she possesses an incredible will to survive. Even more, she’s lost so much even before the alien invasion. But Deja doesn’t back down from challenges and is willing to fight back any danger thrown her way. I absolutely adored and admired that curvy and sassy woman!
Fi’Rox is the newest member of the Vullan sleekt and his only goal is to destroy the beings that destroyed everything the Vullan knew and loved. Despite dealing with some insecurities and not believing himself deserving of a mate, Fi’Rox is one magnificent male - big, strong, smart, sweet and fiercely protective. Even more, he’s quite dangerous, lethal and stealthy. And he made me laugh a lot. I loved him so much!
Everything that happened between Deja and Fi’Rox was spectacular. It took some time for Deja to trust him and I loved that she judged Fi’Rox based on his action and not his alien appearances. With danger all around them, they become quite the badass team and embark on a very dangerous mission. I loved their intense chemistry and awesome banters. Deja and Fi’Rox were so perfect for each other. And when they couldn’t deny their attraction anymore, the passionate moments they shared were scorching hot. I absolutely loved them as a couple!
In addition, the worldbuilding and the storyline were spectacular. The nefarious activities of the Gryken and the fight against them, the suspense, the unexpected discoveries and the danger kept me glued to the pages till the very end.
Overall, the story is another marvellous addition to the series. It’s filled with fast-paced action, suspense, danger, adventure, violence, destruction, nasty aliens, humor, twists, steamy romance and fantastic characters.
I absolutely loved every page of it and cannot wait to see what happens next!
Might DNF… I’m 58% of the way in but it’s just so… boring?? It’s making me doubt how much I liked the first 2 books. I was so excited for Deja’s book; when I read about her in Base Zero I had hoped she’d get her own novel. To say I’m disappointed would be putting it lightly.
They hardly have any chemistry! There’s already been two spice scenes and they hardly know anything about each other. In the last book when Ga’var became possessive of Sam it made sense, but Fi’rox went from strictly wanting to be friends with her to claiming her with very little transition.
Did I mention it’s boring? The author created this incredible apocalyptic world, but the formatting is getting repetitive when it shouldn’t be! There’s so many angles you can take with this plot. A cabin in the woods with similar dialogue to the trailer in the woods is a bit disappointing.
Also, the logistics of Deja’s absence aren’t making a lot of sense to me. In Base Zero Sam says it takes them days to complete the weapon, and Fi’rox doesn’t leave until after the weapon is complete. How is she still alive?? She was running in the forest with a gaping wound, no food, no water, for DAYS. From Deja’s point of view the timeline doesn’t even add up, her version of events make it seem as if she was only gone for a little over a day maybe two.
This is a small thing, but: She’s surviving off of two cans of corn a day. I’m not an expert, but that’s such a severe lack of calories, how does she have the energy to do all of this??
I feel bad about rating this so low. It was a really great book and I love the story and the characters. The sex scenes are hot! The tongue stuff? YESS. But one thing bugged me and I ended up skimming the last hour of the book on my Kindle. I feel like this needed trigger warnings. Maybe this isn't a thing for other people but I have a small child and some things I just don't want to read about. I don't have many triggers but the heroine lost her child in a car accident and it is brought up multiple times throughout the book. Very very briefly. Only a sentence or two at a time. But every time it was brought up it was like a slap to the face and a rude awakening and it just isn't something I want to read. I prefer my books to be as far removed from children and babies as possible. And then they find a dying(basically she is being controlled by the bad guy aliens and they think she won't survive) woman who is clutching a baby's bootie/sock in her hand and I just knew where it was going...they are going to search for the baby, they are going to adopt the baby, they are all going to live happily ever after yadda yadda yadda. I was wrong, the mom survives. But they do find the baby and the epilogue is all about the baby and leading up to the epilogue is a lot of baby stuff and it was just too much for me. I almost DNF but like I said, I am really enjoying the series and the story. I will still read the next one, all of that being said.
So so good!💖🌟💖
My favorite thus far out of the three books I've read. Deja ran away in the last book but whay we didn't know was that she was horribly wounded. She is a real fighter and somehow gets herself pretty far from the site she ran from. Fi’rox is the youngest Vullan and he is sent out to find the missing human female that ran from the Gyrken. When he finds her she is fading fast but still fights believing he is the enemy. No matter what the cost he does what ever he needs to to to save her life. As they learn to trust one another they stumble upon the enemy and an evil so great the they need to make it back to base zero before its too late. Tis story was so freaking good. Deja was an amazing leading lady so fiery and brave never giving up and Fi’rox had a sense of humor and was down right alpha and so courageous himself. I can't wait to see what happens next in War! Highly recommend the whole series!💖🌟🔥🔥🌟💖💖🌟🔥🌟💖
Best parts of this books:
- Deja, she’s a really tough woman but when she reveals her fear and weakness it’s so easy to care for her.
- Fe’rox, funny but also rather stoic, I enjoy his personality as a compliment to Deja’s as he really make her personality shine without being lost.
- Lots of surprises, very unpredictable. Every time I thought I knew what would happen it would be something completely different. I appreciate being surprised by plot points because it honestly doesn’t happen often.
- LORE! So much more to enjoy while also giving us more questions!
- Exciting fights and suspenseful action scenes, I was on the edge of my seat in quite a few moments there but especially at the end.
- A nod to found families at the end in more ways than one, I just love that trope.
This series hasn’t disappointed me yet! I just love everything about it!
I really like this series and how it’s evolving. Super cool. The bits of humor are great. The POC character isn’t tragic but a total bad b$tch.
I am having problems with visualizing the amount of people-good aliens-bad aliens. At the invasion it felt like it was an overwhelming amount and then you fast forward to what’s essentially the apocalypse and there are so few. Then the good guys, I still don’t have like a vague number in my head on how many there are although we are getting a better idea on humans. I’m just wondering if at some point another race is going to come in to like shore up the opposing numbers because it doesn’t feel like a believable fight. This goes way past a David vs Goliath situation….. UNLESS I have the numbers wrong. KWIM
Omg you guys. I can't believe I was ready to drop this one at around 38%. I loved the two previous books, but for some reason, I couldn't connect with the MLs in this one. I just continued reading cause I liked the overall plot that started in the first book.
However... after 45% I couldn't put this book down. I warmed up to the characters, the plot got more interesting, the sexy times were good (thanks to the dirty mouth of the alien 🥵) and the book got gooooood.
This is becoming one of the best alien romance series I've read so far.
This is seriously good series. I can't recommend it enough. I read it in KU but seriously considering to buy the whole series cause I know I'll read it again in the future.
3 down. and now on to San’ten & Mina’s story!
I can’t get over how much I am absolutely loving this series! I haven’t read a series and actually stuck with it in SOOOOO long. It feels so good to be this devoted to a storyline again, and needing to know what happens next!
Deja & Fi’rox held my heart throughout this whole one, and I am excited to continue to the next. Can’t wait to read Mine & San’ten’s story. His attitude has had me interested since book one, so I can’t wait to see him fall for his “hyuman”!
This is book 3 in this series and unlike the previous 2 books which were a thrilling page turning read this installment is a rather torturous rehashing of the basic premise of the series. The first half of this book is about Deja learning about the Vallan once she stops running away long enough . There is very little added to the overall plot arc and the main characters have virtually no backstory . This is an easy to skip read
Sadly, this didn't read as well for me as the previous two.
I felt it just dragged on for way too long. I really only got involved when the incident happened at the visitor centre. I was really interested to see how that would play out... and, hopefully, lead to some sort of happy ending...
But, this wasn't a one-sit read for me... it took several days of me suddenly remembering that I hadn't finished it.
And why did the others have to be such arses when they got back to the base?!
Quick(ish) Review
The third book in this series continues to build the overarching threat of the Gryken while giving us a Black heroine who has been through the horror of an apocalypse after the loss of a child. I don’t know if I was prepared for dealing with that trauma but while it factors into the story it is not the central issue. It’s still very much survival romance with a big alien who’s protective even when he’s convinced he’s undeserving of love. I liked it.
Meh.
While I like that we’re getting more information about the invasion and things are coming to a head…this pairing felt a bit too cookie-cutter to the last one. H and h spend a lot of 1:1 time together, the other Vullan accuse H of forcing h, H goes down on h and they realize they’re mates and live happily ever after.
After this book I need a break from the series before I can move on to the last one to break up the monotony.
Cataclysm picks up with the rescue attempt of Deja and this was exciting!
Deja is probably the character I most relate to. I also would turn and run away from danger. But she's also so much braver than I am.
I enjoyed it. I really liked the way they incorporated the soulmate thing and how they slightly changed it from the previous books. I also like where we're going with the war to protect earth.
Definitely recommend.
****Great read, 4 stars****
