Anjali always thought anxiety was her worst enemy. She's got a decent handle on it, but it makes social situations, especially social situations with cute girls, awkward as hell. She first noticed Maeve in a college class, and since, she hasn't been get the adorable punk girl with the heart-shaped backpack out of her head. Especially since the backpack invited onlookers to F Off. When Anjali sees Maeve again post-graduation at a coffee shop, they finally start up a conversation. Things get romantic over Thai food and at the Renn Faire.
But for once, anxiety might not be Anjali's worst enemy. Maeve's coworker seems bent on making things difficult for reasons of her own. Anjali has to find a way to deal with uncomfortable situations on her own terms if she wants to hang onto the cute girl.
Hi! I'm Katey. I write superpowered and fantasy romance of an LGBTQIA bent. I live at Superpowered Love -- kateyhawthorne.com.
I know, I know, it looks like I don't read anything here at GoodReads. But I do, I swear. My reviews and stuff are all over at my other GoodReads thingie, KV Taylor. Relevant shelves to Katey Hawthorne stuff:
Katey Hawthorne has done it again…. written something so absolutely beautiful! The characters and the story are super cute, but there were so many powerful and beautiful themes throughout. You’ll want to make “Yes, Today” your motto after reading this.
I related to Anjali and her anxiety so very much and from the very first line. If you know someone with anxiety or experience it yourself, especially social anxiety, this book will help you feel it or feel seen.
Read this book if you are looking for a short and beautiful F/F story that really highlights living with anxiety and finding the people who help you get brave enough to say “yes, today motherfucker” today and every day!
This was an amazing book. Anjali has anxiety. She has a hard time just going into the coffee shop. When she reunites with a girl from college, things start to change for Anjali.
I loved how understanding Maeve is. She is understanding and supportive.
I was hooked with one paragraph. It was such a short, easy read. Many contemporary romance stories follow classic formulas, but this has that spark that sets a good story apart. Genuine main characters, sizzling chemistry, and a familiar world where love feels possible.
Two people from college finds each other again. This story read like a second opportunity to get it right - like a second chance to pursue your feelings if you would just...I enjoyed the chemistry between Anjali and Maeve. I enjoyed the crafting, the support, and Anjali overcoming some of her anxiety. This was a fun , quick read.
Lord, I felt Anjali's anxiety rolling off the page. Katey did an amazing job with this story. There were lot's of feels, angst, friendship and a very supportive dad. I love how Anjali and Maeve worked through their friendship to dating. So sweet.
This was delightful in every way. A very thoughtful, lovely romance between two very endearing characters, and with a very realistic portrayal of anxiety at that. Strong rec if you're looking for something fun, sweet, light and shiny.
