City of Sinners #3

Kingdom of Sin

Rate this book
Savage Mafia King. Billionaire Businessman. Husband of five years. The man I’ve come to hate…

When we said, “I do”, it was supposed to mean Forever. It’s funny what a few years can change.

Giovanni Sorrentino, the man I fell deeply in love with, has become a stranger to me. With an empire that grows by the day, he’s a modern-day King—a Tyrant addicted to power, ruling by fear and domination.

He’s even worse behind closed doors. Cold, callous, and cruel, he’s unbearable. For my own sanity, I can’t do it anymore. I have to get away.

But my dominant Mafia King husband refuses to let me go so easily. We made a vow ’til death; one he fully intends on seeing through to the bitter end. It’s a dangerous game I’m playing, attempting to escape his wrath. This time, if he catches me, there will be no mercy to be had.

Sienne has a thing for dark and brooding alphas and the diverse women who love them.

She enjoys writing stories where lines are blurred and the romance is dark and delicious.

In her spare time, she unwinds with a nice glass of wine and Netflix binge.

Gio and Falynn’s married life was brutal. I absolutely despised his controlling ways. Force feeding your wife fertility drugs that make her feel suicidal and depressed so you can have an heir was my limit. I had to take a break. I could no longer root for this couple.

I’m actually impressed with Gio in the end. Not many people are able or willing to admit their faults, take the necessary steps to improve, and change their priorities to make their wife the most important person or thing on their list.

I don’t typically like romances where the main characters are already married but in this case, losing each other emotionally and finding a way back to each other was a beautiful journey.

I would describe the storyline of the final book as a circular repetitive pattern.

The way Gio operates is brutally domineering and utterly repugnant. Falynn is an incompetent doormat with no backbone or sense.

Their argument and fights over something he did and said got tiring due to the back and forth they engaged in.

The book was fast to read, but I felt annoyed a lot of the time. Certain scenes and details did not appeal to me all the time.

In my opinion, this book is not a worthwhile read and does not fit within the category of dark romance.

This is the third and final book to Giovanni and Falynn's story. The author once again brings strong characters and weaves an intriguing story with tons of emotions and heartbreak. She pulls you in with the suspense and drama along with the romance. It's well written with descriptive scenes and I enjoyed reading.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

Too adrianlia coded I hated it. Pissed me off so and was so unnecessary. Except the epilogue that was cute. Hope Vivian gets a book and actually rules Vegas instead of her brothers

All the drama

I've been waiting for this release and this book did not disappoint. This love story was not a bed of roses it was realistic with the pain, the drama, broken trust and forgiveness It was so good to see this couple come full circle and they were meant to be together. I'm so happy they got their happily ever after. This book embodied it all, going through the highs and the lows and working your way through it on and coming out on the other side a survivor. This author is really delivers

Wow, what a great story to end Gio and Falynn’s series. There is so much drama, suspense and heartbreak in this one. Once I started I couldn’t put it down it was that good. This story is dark and might have triggers for some but is does end with a HEA.

I won’t deny that I was worried going into the final installation of Sienne Vega’s City of Sinners Series. The author very kindly gave us trigger warnings, but I knew there was no way I was NOT going to see this amazing saga to the end. Chronologically, the story starts not long after book 2. Falynn and Gio are basking in the light of renewed hope and love and life is good. I enjoyed their dynamics and the playful passion they exuded! The next section is immediately darker in tone and tenor; the couple is dealing with loss but in very different ways. Gio tries to control the unimaginable by dominating every aspect of his existence, and he tries to control nothing more than the very air that Falynn breathes. In his dysfunctional, albeit ardent, version of love, he is keeping her safe when he is actually smothering and tarnishing the “shine” he loves so deeply. Falynn is still emotionally reeling and under the care of a doctor who does not seem to have her best interests at heart. Gio is unreachable; he is busy being King and discounts her concerns. In this perfect maelstrom of emotions, something must give. Will Gio be able to see that he is destroying the only person he has truly ever loved before it is too late, or will he become as villainous as his father was? I loved the composition of this story and how Ms. Vega flits gracefully between the present and the past. Gio and Falynn continue to be two of the most fascinating and appealing characters I have ever encountered. Louis and Tasha were again welcome additions to an outstanding canvas of characters. This is book is absolutely dazzling, brutal in some places but incredibly tender in others. Call me greedy, but I would love to catch up with Gio and Falynn in another episode. I am sure they have more story to tell!.

Bumpy Ride

This 3rd installment had many twists and turns. Author was not lying about triggers😳, I almost gave up at 13% mark. Very hard read. Be prepared for sexual assault triggers, toxicity, etc. But on the flip side, though unexpected, this book really gave some more realistic downsides of the mafia life. All that glitters is definently not gold...and love isnt always enough were themes seen in the book. The author is trying to sell a toxic couple that "learns to love" after seeing what festering childhood traumas can do to adults in relationships. However, the toxicity here is not a relationship, in real life, that healthy people would cheer on/or stay in. Loved the HEA that eventually came, but truthfully, I dont believe people that experience the level of trauma the H/h did can just "suffer thru & grow up" without professional help...ABSOLUTELY NOT! The real issues addressed was my reason for 4 stars, not because I loved it so.

In this final installment ...

Sadly, five years later, the honeymoon is over and things have taken a turn for the worst. We learn there is no and Falynn's marriage to Gio is on the rocks. Gio has turned into an angry, power-hungry tyrant, ridding the World of ALL his enemies—both, foreign and domestic. There are lots of enemies!

Gio has solidified his title as, The King by strong-arm tactics and violent means—we all know, you live by the sword, you die by the sword—at least several of his enemies try to take him out on several occasions. One enemy, goes so far as to metaphorically tell him, you cut off the head of the snake, another grows in its place.

I never thought I'd see the day where Gio would be cold and heartless toward Falynn, he's dismissive of her concerns, wants and needs. The new unimproved Gio is unrecognizable as the man we met in books 1 & 2. This Gio is on a baby-making mission, hiring the best doctors in the World to help them (him) achieve their (the) end goal of heirs to the throne.

Besides his empire, the making of heirs is a pleasant task that Gio enjoys and takes very, very seriously—too seriously to detriment of Falynn's physical and mental health. He has been warned by Carlotta, his surrogate mother that Falynn's life is at stake, much like his own mother before her. Gio truly believes he's giving Falynn everything she needs.

What Falynn wants is just some of his time, but he is too busy trying to stay on top and live to kill and destroy another day, so he is dismissive of her. After all, look at all the things she has to be happy about, she doesn't want things, she just wants Gio—she wants a simpler life. Gio is slowly killing her love for him. Falynn wants to be seen and heard by Gio, but he is too busy continuing to build an already enormous Billion Dollar Empire.

For Gio, it's his way or no way, even after he sees, with his own eyes how lifeless she is, and acknowledges her shine is gone. These warning signs doesn't sway him, even after a vacation to rekindle what's been lost goes awry, he keeps ignoring her needs and her cries for help. He is truly his father's son.

This is very much a dark romance. So many Mafia stories are labeled as such and many of the heroes in the books I've read so far never do anything dangerous, dark, dirty or crazy—they are nice softies, comparatively speaking, just nice Mafia guys. Not in this saga, Gio goes there, and he gets his hands dirty much to consternation of some of his soldiers. The things he does to protect Falynn are bloody and vicious. He doesn't tolerate disrespect from others towards her. When he vowed to love (he only has eyes for her) and protect Falynn, he meant that sh*t! Gio didn't look or want other women around him, for Gio, it was just Falynn for him. I'm not sure what took me so long to read this mafia series. I loved it! I see you NOW Sienne Vega AND I'm here for your next series!

The entire series is Highly, Highly Recommended Reading.

Now, if you read this series you've already met Gio's eventual right-hand man Louis (I love, love, love him) whom Falynn charms and makes Gio wonder who he truly works for. Louis is an absolute sweetheart and I can't wait to read his story. As for his love interest, Tasha—real talk—I don't love her and I don't see her as a love match for Louis—he can do better.

"I'm not sayin' she's a gold digger, but ..." she's all about the Benjamin's and what a man can financially do for her. However, if Sienne can find a way to reunite Gio and Falynn, then she can certainly soften Tasha up and make me believe she's worthy of Louis's love.

Buckle up this is a wild ride, dangerous men, alpha personified, possessive, oh, so gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a deliciously dark story 😊. All the makings of a great a mafia story because there will be suspense, betrayal, sleepless nights, bad judgement or not, secrets, violence, hope, and maybe love.
By the time you’ve figured out who is who and what is what, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter!
Can’t say I didn’t warn you.
This is the third book in the City of Sinners series a continuation of the previous book I couldn’t stop I had to know what happened so here I am reading the conclusion and boy what a ride this has been so I will say again buckle up prior to reading book one but know it isn’t for the faint of heart. Gio is controlling, arrogant, sometimes brutal without regards to her feelings and their marriage is just more of except now he wants an heir so making her take the fertility drugs to ensure it and she isn’t taking them on her own if you know what we mean. Falynn has grown in strength considering her situation that led her to the marriage, and now being forced to get pregnant all because her husband wanted it without asking how she felt about it (I love dark but sometimes I do wish the girl would have more choice) Gio is controlling everything or trying to including the air she breathes in fact if he has his way she will only breath his breath for air, see in his head it is the only way to keep her safe is by smothering and killing her shine not realizing he is pushing her to walk away or keep trying. Falynn is dealing with a doc. who doesn’t have her best interest at heart and her husband is not where to be reach or doesn’t care enough about her concerns, but will he see that he is pushing the one person he ever loved away and becoming the very person he didn’t want to his father. Will he learn from the past and those of the past where did it lead them, has he pushed the one woman who truly loved him with all his controlling ways, will he admit he was wrong or willing to change his way, and is there a HEA written for these two considering how much they have been through?.

I like the last book the most!

I like the book more because I got to see Too at his raw ish when it came to his wife . I saw how a husband who love his wife so much that he wanted to destroy anything or anyone that threatens to take her away from him but the biggest threat was himself that he forgot she needed him to support her and listen and at the same time he needed her as his outlet that listen to him an help him stay calm an think things through to the correct course but because he wanted to keep her safe an protective he forgot his place as being her husband and friend , I was mad that he didn't listen to her about the treatments that was killing or let her make the choice to stop trying for a child. He was hurting but didn't know how to tell her he was in pain over the lost of their child. I was glad when he stop an for once listen to his wife and his old nanny, hey his old nanny knew pain when she saw it an Fal, was in pain! I was glad to take this trip for one got to see how pain break up a home we both parties stop talking to each other. Read all the books. I can't wait when she writes Lou book, he was the best friend for both of them, that he deserves a book of his own, come on a softie that is a killer but is kind to kids and sweet old ladies. I want to know how he fell in love with a bad woman. Until then happy reading😊

I tried to read until the end but it was horrible. The man Giovanni ran his marriage like a dictatorship. Like he was her master and not Faylynn's husband. Her forced her to take fertility medication even though she said it made her sick, depressed, and suicidal. He chocked her out because she disobey him like she was his child not significant other. I tried to read until the end but for me there was no redeeming all that he did. I effin hated him in that moment where he and the fertility Doctor tell Faylynn that she doesn't feel bad because of the fertility medication and that she should continue to take it. He disregarded her feelings and thoughts as if she didn't know her feelings. This is already a big thing in health brushing off a Black woman's feelings and concerns regarding her health. I'm pretty sure a person knows their body. He was supposed to be her ally and advocate as her husband but he acted like he didn't give a damn about her feelings. She literally has to escape him. He catches her and then forces himself on her. This is a wtf don't read and definitely don't romanticize. I wish the author would've stopped with the previous two books because she destroyed the image of her beloved characters. It's like their characters change completely from the last two books.

I’m only just getting to this series after discovering the author last year and even as a dark romance reader, this wasn’t enjoyable at all. I have to still want to root for the couple, both individually and together, but here I was rooting for this to end in divorce and Falynn to find someone new, even after I finished the book, and then wishing I had stopped at Book 2. Usually books with trigger warnings will have those elements mixed in strategically. This was like 90% of the content were the trigger warnings. It went beyond dark romance, and came off as a reason to just straight up abuse Falynn yet again and fully break her will to live.

By the end, the alleged resolution and epilogue were rushed and undeserved, especially for making a majority of the book so traumatic. Gio “proving” he had changed and would earn her trust back was rushed past in favor of a time jump, make-up sex, and a life threatening event that circumvented any meaningful reconciliation. The one conversation they did have wasn’t enough to make any of the drama of the 5 years of their marriage worth fighting through the story. We never even get any of what Falynn kept wishing for herself outside of Gio. As a reader we have to sit through all that build up of conflict, trauma, abuse, and demoralization just to jump through them getting back together in a couple chapters. It felt like watching a DV victim go back because he said he loved her and promised to never do it again. It just wasn’t a romance book, even for dark romance. It was just fiction with some sex scenes, some of which were SA (not coercion or dubious consent, or a CNC scene, literally, as in uses his physical strength over her as she attempts to fight him off after already being severely injured and says no and he gets off on her real fear and pain).

A real Rollercoaster of a ride. This is the conclusion of a story I hate to see end. This series took me on an emotional journey from the beginning. I was hooked from book one. The characters are so intense, deeply passionate and strong willed. Their love story isn't easy to take in. You want to scream at Gio to wake the hell up and you also want Falynn to be just a little bigger so she can handle herself with such a bully. He is so arrogant and entitled but he doesn't show his love as a man who loves his woman. I won't give away anymore of the story, just know its a helluva read. It was my pleasure to stay up all night and finish this book. I also love Louis and Tasha. Their backstory would be worth the read.Thank you for the chance to read and review a page turner Ms.Vega.

Triumphant!

I love how this story balanced itself out! So many mafia series don't show the struggle of work/life balance. There is danger and threats all around. Enemies will sometimes be those you trust and also unfortunately even your family.

What happens when enemies converge to destroy not just the King but also his Queen? You become a beast! Gio did what he had to do because the attacks were relentless and coming from unknown sources. Falynn responded as anyone would. Perfectly written! Loved that they were able to triumph over their enemies and to have their own family after all of the sabotage to prevent it from happening.

This is the third and final book in Gio and Falynn story. They have been through so much and it has changed both of them. Will Gio take his possessiveness and control to a point that will break them apart? Or will he learn from his mistakes and mistakes from the past and get what he truly wants? This was a good story with tons of angst and heartbreak. Falynn is very strong to do what she did and live through it. This was a dark story with a good HEA.

Wow…

WARNING! This book is not for the weak.
However. This is an amazing way to end Falynn’s and Giovanni’s story. But something tells me that there is more to come. This book, no this entire series had me pulling at my weave and grabbing my Louisville almost at the same time.

(Fake coughing) Louis and Tasha…lol… NOW that will be a great epilogue/ segway into a series.

This is the conclusion of Gio's and Falynn's triology. The author really delivered with a sensitive and realistic portrayal of the challenges couples face after loosing a child and while going through infertility treatments. This is complicated by Gio's leading a multibillion dollar criminal organization where enemies and attempted assassinations abound including a corrupt doctor. While much of the book is dark it is good to see that their incredible love for each other will carry them through to their HEA. Well worth the read.

This is Book 3 in the City of Sinners Series by this author. It is the amazing conclusion to the suspenseful romance between mob boss Giovanni and stripper Falynn. This book picks up where Queen of Hearts ends. There is no denying the sizzling chemistry and strong connection between these two fierce and intriguing souls. Their twisted love story ends with more drama, action, passion, twists and turns, plus appealing secondary characters to keep the reader interested. Steamy and full of the feels!

This is the final book for Gio and Falynn and what a ride it was. We get to see their life after marriage and the heartbreak that ensues. My heart was breaking for both of them as I read the book. It was angsty and intriguing. I am so happy they found true happiness once again. As usual, Ms. Vega was on point. Highly recommended.

Giovanni and Falynn wow their story is raw, intense, full of drama and struggles. Their relationship is far from easy. He is ruthless, dark, dominant and dangerous. Flynn is dealing a ray of emotions and Giovanni isn't exactly acknowledging her feelings. I highly recommend carving out time to really read it because there are a mixture of emotions in this final book of their story. Sienna nailed it.

A well written story filled with lots of drama, suspense, and romance. Falynn and Giovanni’s characters went through some growing pains throughout their relationship and which caused them to grow and mature in their love for each other. I loved reading epilogues at the end of the book. This was a fantastic series and I’m looking forward reading more from this author!.

This was the best book yet. I am so happy that Gio and Falynn had a happy ending. Gio loved Falynn with his whole heart, but not having an example of a loving family it was hard for him to let his walls down fully. This story had it all action, intrigue, drama, suspense and of course great love scenes. I truly am glad that they found their way back to each other, and began to live their lives as they wanted and needed to create the beautiful family they had.

It's the love for me

Their love was tested through the fires of hell and survived. So happy Gio changed his ways, I never doubted his love for Fralynn. His mind was so focused on power and control already, then with the miscarriage it spiraled out of control. Poor Fralynn took a lot and endured a lot from Gio. I'm just glad it didn't send her into a bitter mood that could have not allowed her to forgive him. This book series was great from the beginning to the end.

so spicy 🥵

This book is a combination of passion and love fighting and highs and lows. Fighting for love even after you’ve been through so much and feels it lost. This is a beautiful series about becoming king but never forget the importance of a queen. Amazing read, must read all three books to get the full concept of the book.

Absolutely loved the conclusion to this mini series. Gio and Falynn final chapter is closed and it was beautifully written. You feel her pain and also his way of dealing with his pain. Emotional roller coaster but still kept the hot and steamy mafia alpha male.

This book was everything I didn't know I needed! It was a really dark conclusion to Gio and Falynn's journey and not for the faint of heart,, but it is a DARK romance so I'm not sure what that other person is talking about him being brutal and repugnant. Duh it's a dark romance lol. Maybe go read some clean romance? I loved it and want more! Hopefully we get Tasha and Lou's story next!
