Briar DuPree has never had it easy. Born into an abusive home, Briar found the first way out and began to create a life for herself. After pissing off the wrong people, she finds herself backed into a corner. In order to secure her own protection, she makes a life changing deal with the leader of a well known crime organization. In exchange she will provide her services and become the leader she never knew she could be.
Teague Rossi is a high ranking member within the Crimson Crows. After being placed on protection duty for Briar, he learns that this woman is more than just a beautiful face. Teague has never known anything but destruction and danger, but when danger comes in the form of a beautiful golden-brown haired woman, he is more willing to take the leap.
Please make sure to read the Author's note before diving into the book!
Heart wrenching. Captivating. Sexy. Edge of your seat read.
Gabbie’s first book made me want to cry, laugh, made me blush, gasp, and feel all the emotions. Especially the shower scene, I had to drink a tall glass of cool water after that.
Briar is a woman who feels beyond real, with her moments that make her her, personality that truly helps drive the story forward, along with Teague, who combines the art of being a sexy brooding male with someone who knows how to be a wonderful man. Along with the side characters, Ondina, Riggs, Killian, Hal, and Gabe, Beautiful Danger is truly elevated. With twists you don’t see coming in the end, moments that will tug your heart strings, and spice & tension that adds to the story, this is a must read.
“I don’t fall to my knees often, but for her, I would kneel between her legs and worship.”
With writing that flows smoothly, characters who offer to the story & it’s development, and tension/spice that will have you blushing, Beautiful Danger is a perfect blend on a twisty contemporary romance.
Beautiful Danger is a debut Mafia romance that pulls you in almost immediately!
What I liked. - it wasn’t a romance with the mob boss but one of his men. - Action from the very first page - The dialogue was quite well done.
What I disliked. - Some of the metaphors and imagery fell really flat for me. - There was just too much description. Much of it felt unnecessary.
Overall I think this was a good debut novel. I think the author has a lot of promise and from the style you can see that she’s only going to get better!
I think the book would also tremendously benefit from some developmental and copy edits.
My love for Teague is endless, but my love for Axel knows no bounds.
I loved the story and growth of Briar as she discovers who she is. Beautiful Danger takes the reader on a journey of self discovery and self-love. Briar finally copes with the truth about her past and present, with Teague as her #2.
I was enraptured by the story and the strong heartedness of Briar and cannot wait to see what Book 2 holds. I NEED to know that my little Sparrow is safe.
Toy with my heart like that …. Even if I knew the pain was coming.
But also thank you for this story. There are so many parts that made me laugh parts that had me grinding my teeth in frustration! Parts that I related to parts that hurt and most of all the self growth of the characters 🖤
I couldn’t have found a better book to finish the first day of 2022.
Everyone look out for the cover reveal coming soon and pre order ! You won’t be disappointed.
I love it! Gabrielle's debut novel blew me away. It is a spicy mafia romance story but so much more. It addresses loss, abuse, found family, real health problems, and forgiveness. Briar has never had an easy life, but she adapts and rolls with the punches. Teague is just... Well you'll have to read it to find out. And do yourself a favor and order the gorgeous physical copy if you can!
It’s been so rare recently for me to be able to sit down and read a book start to finish. The fact that I was able to do this with Beautiful Danger says a lot about how good the book was, and how talented the author is.
This book follows Briar on a journey of self discovery as she is initiated into the world of being a Mafia Don’s daughter. Healing from trauma and propelled into dangerous circumstances not even she could have anticipated, Briar must learn to adapt quickly otherwise she’ll end up dead and forgotten; a deep rooted fear she doesn’t want to become a reality.
Falling for Teague, her father’s #2, wasn’t part of the plan and yet neither of them can stay away from each other. After being alone for so long, determined not to feel anything for anyone in fear that it will be twisted and abused, both Teague and Briar learn what it means to love and trust someone - even if it means you can’t protect them from the world.
I love how tenderly Gabrielle was able to deal with the incredibly important and sensitive issues touched in the novel. While we expect a great deal of darkness and violence from a mafia romance, Delacourt takes writing to another level by giving her characters extra depth. Briar is strong and damaged and doing her best, and Teague is haunted by his own rules but determined to save the one person to break down his walls. Even the “side” characters such as Gabe, Ondina, Hal and Riggs were great additions to each page and added so much wit and emotion to the story.
It should also be noted just how captivating the plot itself was. From beginning to end, the reader is taken on a rollercoaster of emotions and adrenaline. There are so many unexpected twists and turns and I’m eager for Book Two in the Crimson Crows to find out just what is happening. I have so many suspicions about so many characters - I’m looking at you Niamh! - and I just know Gabrielle is going to blow us away all over again.
This book is just hands down incredible. Gabbie has truly outdone herself on her first novel (hopefully with many more to come!)
You can't help but fall in love with the wealth of diverse characters if thus novel. Whether you simp for Teague, give your heart to Briar, or become best friends with Ondina, you will be sure to go completely go head over heels for all of the characters.
This book leaves off on one hell of a cliffhanger and I can not wait to see where Gabbie takes things in books 2!
TW: There is violence, sexual content and there are some women's (endometriosis).
Like a lioness stalking her prey, she circles him, a finger dancing across his body as she talks. “Do you remember the first time you hit me?”
I’m not crying you’re crying. But on a serious note, I have nothing bad to say about this book! Gabbie you hit out of the park and I’m freaking serious!
The way things are so detailed, the scenes are so descriptive it feels like I’m there watching as things play out. A silent and invisible audience to this story.
Excellent job of switching between viewpoints of the different characters, I felt the shifts and there was a difference in their thoughts & inner dialogue to the point that you know these are different people and really you can tell based on how they think and talk and act who’s who. The characters are very well fleshed out and brought to life.
“Is it hot in here?” Once it starts going, OH MY!
It was really nice to see nods to Hawaiian lineage. As a first generation native Hawaiian, it’s not something you see often. (If ever) I felt a great affinity with Briar not only in her heritage but in her origins and home life. Maybe there’s a bit of a bias for these reasons but I really liked her and was rooting for her the whole way through.
Without giving anything away, the ending pretty much crushed me. I wasn’t ready. I expected something (like I was on alert and something seemed sketch) but none of what transpired.
I can’t wait for book 2 because this was one HELL of a cliffhanger!
Thank you so much to Gabbie for giving me the honor of being a Beta reader!!!!! ❤️
This beautifully dark mafia romance is a must read! So many wonderful characters, the story starts off with a BANG literally and it just keeps getting better! I love being in Briar's (the FMC) head she is hilarious and her inner monologue cracks me up, she is also a serious baddie and I am here for it! It has the spice you want with a broody MMC Teague, so hot. If you love mafia romance with humor, spice and some violence this is the book for you! ORDER IT! READ IT! LOVE IT!
Oh my gosh. The wit, the danger, the very much sexy men in this book (except for you Axel, you can go somewhere). Beautiful Danger provides the journey of a mafia princess (although she will never claim to be in the beginning) become the most powerful version of herself. My heart is for Ondina and Hal (and if anything rude happens to them I am rioting!). The spice is chef's kiss as well as the build of tension. I loved every second of this and am sooo anxious to get the next one!
I really wanted to like it, I did. Got recommended the book on TT and I was looking forward to it. However the story seems like it just moves too quickly for me. This book would be perfect if it were two separate books instead of it all jammed into one.
My issues with the book. The FML and ML went from being attracted to each other but not going to do anything with the other because 'how dare I' or whatever their reason was, to immediately flirting and ready to get down and dirty so quickly I damn near got whiplash from it.
The dad, I was looking forward to reading them getting to know each other and really get close or as close as you could with a dad like him. We got like what? 5 short encounters?
I'm pretty sure when I was reading this book I said "That's it, I'm giving Gabbie all my money."
This was the first book of hers that I read and I'd never really related to or seen myself in romance books as much as I did whilst reading BD. And it quickly became a huge comfort read. It's full of relatable characters, witty humour, great banter AND great pranks, fast-paced action, mafia fun that is not overdone, and plot twists that left me reeling. The story of grief touched my heart and that constant comfort both Briar and Teague gave each other was what made me fall in love with Gabbie's writing. It was super refreshing to see.
I also said I would die for Briar and Teague about three times, and I'd die for them still.
I can't wait to see what Gabbie does with this book in the future :,>
Somebody call 911 because this book may have caused me to go into cardiac arrest! Wow. Just. Wow. My only complaint is that I had to keep stepping away from it to be an “adult.” Otherwise, I would have devoured this masterpiece in one night. Let me start off by saying that this as written by an indie author, and for those of you who don’t read indie authors…y’all are sleeping on us. Briar and Teague are my new mom and dad. Teague is a badass. Briar is a queen. I love that this book had traumatic situations and Briar processed them like an ACTUAL human being—-and my man Teague was right beside here to support her. The tension. The spice. The ACTION. THE PLOT TWIST. Everything that I love about a book all wrapped up in a nice ass package. Definitely recommend. Five stars!
The Crimson Crows #1 Beautiful Danger 💜 Authour: Gabrielle Delacourt
"Beauty will come from this tragedy. Everything beautiful has a dangerous side."
“He pulled his head out of his ass, that’s what.”
Omg, no, you didn't just do that to me! That cliffhanger! That book was everything, like living inside Gabbie's head. 💜 I was blown away by this story.
Briar: Her whole life had been one tragedy after another, but she's survived and has done so on her own until him.
Teague: A man struggling with Demons and lives his life by shutting down his feelings it gets in the way of doing his job until her.
They both may not believe in fate, but I think it was fate that these two characters found each other. They both needed each other to be able to heal from their past, so hopefully, they can have a future together. Even if they both think they deserve each other, they were still there for each other in any way they needed. Because of that, I fell in love with these two characters.
The friendship dynamics with the Briar and the team was amazing to watch blossom. I also can not wait to learn more about Ondina and Riggs but also Gabe and Hal. I'm also super curious about Axel because there is also a story behind that man as well. I can't wait to see what book 2 will bring.
Welcome to the beautiful ruin of our tale. From the ruin comes the beauty, and I’m confident that from the ashes, she will rise, our Queen of the Crows.
I’m a sucker for mafia romances and Gabbie did not disappoint me with this one! Briar is a strong female main character and I enjoyed going along for the ride as she healed from past traumas. Cue Teague’s POV chapters. Forbidden love and big grumpy main male character. I need a Teague, this man is so sexy. I loved the dual POV from both him and Briar — it added so much to the story! Oh and the spice 🥵🥵🥵 so hot! There’s a crazy cliffhanger at the end and I cannot wait to read book 2!
I really enjoyed this boo! Brilliant writing for a first novel. Briar and Teague have all the makings for fear chemistry and although it is drawn out for them to finally get together- it is so good when they finally do! The core group in this book are strong, if there is a rat in the core group it would be interesting to find out who it is in the next book, because right now I have no idea! There are definitely test jerker moments which I wasn’t expecting and a cliff hanger ending. Loved this book and looking forward to the second one! Go Gabbie!!
