Nemesis #2

The Resurrected Queen

Rate this book
Revenge is dangerous, but love is a far more lethal game.

Only one of the people who betrayed me is still alive—my father. Nothing matters more to me than making him pay and saving my sister from his influence. But my attempts to rescue her only made him paranoid, and now the sister I wanted to save is being forced into marriage with an associate of his, all because of me.

I tried to keep the Quad, the four men I can’t stop falling for, at a distance, but the temptation they offer is more than I can resist. I tell myself I can enjoy their bodies while refusing to trust them, but, as the days pass, keeping those lines straight becomes harder.

I’m in more danger than ever and my enemies are closing in on me. I don’t believe in happily ever after, and the further I go, the surer I am that this will end with me dead—this time, for good.

Reader advisory: This book contains scenes of murder and attempted murder, violence and bloodshed, and a morally gray heroine.

Multi-1st person POV - mostly from Nem (FMC)

This was a fast-paced sequel (& conclusion) to the Nemesis duet. It was fun and a bit angsty with some hot sex (a couple group scenes, unintentional and brief ⚔ - DP, etc.). I still couldn't really tell the guys apart from each other but overall it was an entertaining story.

The Resurrected Queen picks up where the The Corpse Princess leaves off. “Nemesis” a.k.a Kelsey’s cover has been blown by the QUAD. The QUAD is taken aback by shock, disbelief, anger and relief. Bray, Dane, Colton and Rune have spent the last 10 years grieving over the death of Kelsey and her mother Caroline. Kyler the man behind the attack leads the QUAD to believe that one of his enemies put the hit out on Kelsey and her mother when it was him all along.

Now that the truth is out Nem must figure out how to finish her mission without the QUAD’s interference; that’s easier said than done because all four men have already fallen in love with her and refuses to let her out of their sight. Nem was a sneaky and crafty one using the skills taught to her by her biological father Jarrod. She kept the guys on their toes and kept outsmarting them at every turn.

At their wits end Bray, Dane, Colton, and Rune refuse to let Nem continue her suicide mission of saving her sister McKenzie and killing the man she thought was her father when she was a child. It took the QUAD a lot of sleepless nights, headaches, and near-death experiences to breakdown Nem’s walls so she would let them in. With her plan in motion Nem and the guys knew that time was of the essence.

Even well laid plans can fail as they often do. Kyler being the villain that he is was already aware of who Nem truly was and already had a plan in motion to kill her, the QUAD, and her sister McKenzie once and for all. With her plans falling apart and the people she loved most in danger it was time for Nem to show Kyler exactly what Nemesis was all about.

Nem began her transformation 10 years ago and plotted her plan of revenge with no regard for her own life. After spending time with her sister under the disguise as Kyler’s Assistant, The QUAD, Jarrod, and a few friends and allies she met along the way; Nem realized that life was worth living and she was always going to fight to protect those she holds near and dear to her heart. This is truly a story of Betrayal, Pain, Transformation, Revenge, Love and New Beginnings. Through all of the hurt and pain Nem found her HEA with the QUAD and took control of the power Kyler once had remerging from the ashes as the Corpse Princess and rising to sit on her throne as the Resurrected Queen.

The conclusion to Nemesis story was epic and full of good twists. The Quad men are deliciously good to Nem, while very focused on protecting her and healing her with all the love they can throw at her so they can melt her coldness. Definitely had some good action with multiple pov’s to get a good vibe on each characters thoughts. . I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I absolutely LOVED this duet.

I have nothing more to say.
Read it.

If you’d like to know more on what’s it’s about, see my review on The Corpse Princess, the first book in the duet.

Thank me later.

Jayce brought all the vengeance, steam, and suspense to this sequel of The Corpse Princess. This talented author gripped me from the first paragraph and kept me flipping the pages.
Nemesis keeps her head in the game and proves she is just as useful as she is smart. This phoenix of a woman is a queen, takes her crown with a smile while walking thru the blood of her enemies and I didn’t stop rooting for her at all. I loved watching her rise from the ashes and complete her metamorphosis within this story.

Colton, Dane, Rune and Bray (aka the Quad) completely won my heart and soul over in this one. I adored watching how they came together with Nem and became an even stronger unit. And I loved how they made her realize she was more than she thought. These guys really took the phrase “let me show how much I love you” and when they proved what they meant when those three words were said I melted.

Jayce wrote this with a perfection that has left me with a huge book hangover. It isn’t as fast paced as the first book, but she built the plot and executed the delivery flawlessly. There wasn’t a single “slow” or “dragging” moment at all. I loved every single action-packed, suspenseful, steamy, and knockdown twist filled minute. This is definitely one of my favorite duets of the year and I do see myself revisiting Nem and her men again.

The Resurrected Queen was a satisfying end to the Nemesis duet series.
Continuing straight on from the first book's events, we return to Nem and her plans for revenge against her Father for arranging the murders of her and her Mother, with Nem being the only survivor and her plans to rescue her younger sister Kenzi.
With the help of the Quad, Nem's plans and purpose in returning finally come together in this conclusion.
While I definitely enjoyed this final instalment, I didn't enjoy it as much as I did the first book, 'The Corpse Princess'; I can't quite put my finger on why I just know that I prefer the first book more.
I would have liked an epilogue set a couple of years later, just to see what had happened to these characters after the events in this story, but I'll have to use my imagination.
All in all a fantastic series that I highly recommend.

I received this book via Booksprout for review; all thoughts are my own.

I devoured this book from beginning to end and it did not disappoint. The suspense, revenge, plans, action, steamy scenes, surprises and secrets revealed were everything. However, when both Nem and Jarrod revealed who they were to the others in their own time, I was not surprised at all. I figured out early on who he was because there were hints that were given in the story. Kyler definitely played his part and he too dropped hints during this story, I was just wanting to see how he would make his move or shall I say moves. Nem and the Quad did not let me down. The chemistry and bond between all of them was undeniable and the sex scenes between Nem and the Quad were even steamier in this book. I enjoyed how everything played out in this book and the ending of this story leaves me wanting to read other books by this author. This is a series I will definitely be recommending to my romance and suspense book loving friends. I'm excited to see what other books I will love from this author.

I have a love / "hate" relationship with duets, I love that it's only two books but I hate that it ends so quickly, but this will be a fun re-read! The second book is filled with twists, turns, steam, trust building and everything that wraps up Nemesis's story in a bow.

I love that we get a multi POV so we can delve into the characters that we otherwise might not see. The QUAD is definitely one of my favorite harems of the books I've read. They all had a long hard road to get Nem to let her walls down, after going at It alone she was solely focused on revenge revenge revenge.

I love that the plot keeps you going, you're ready to keep reading page after page due to Jacye's amazing writing skills, and this book should definitely be on your TBR list.

I can't wait to hang with Nem and her guys again when I reach for a re-read. .

Just like the last book I couldn’t put this one down either also it will keep you guessing/ on your toes! I read the book in a day the characters are still awesome and main girl character is still headstrong and Don’t want to mess with her vibes has ever! She continue to do what ever it takes to finish what she started to get revenge on her mother’s death and save her sister. The guys are still trying to understand what they learned at the end of last book and how to move forward. This book has a lot sassy and steamy things among other things too if you love the first book let’s just say you love this one even more I know it had me at the edge of my seat the whole time and saying oh my gosh lots!! You might also want some tissues for some of the book also for those of you who don’t like cliffhangers and just want a happy ending already you’re in luck this time! :).

Wow! I really enjoyed this series. In this final book, Nem's identity is finally known by her group of men. They were shocked at first but they were so upset wnen they lost her the first time that after a few talks they seem to get even more attached to her. She is in charge of planning her sister's weddng and continues to plan for a way to get her out of the situation. This book did not have as much death in it as the first book but it had me anticipating what would happen if anyone else found out who she was. The ending was a little bit of a shock and I actually cried at the end when I thought a certain person died. This was a steamy, exciting, and thrilling book and series and I really am sad to see this group go.

I really loved this duet! The storyline is intriguing and the characters are amazing, however comparing books 1 and 2, this one is a slower pace, less action, but more content regardless the characters and their backgrounds.

Personally, I enjoyed the first book more than this one, just because all the revenge parts of the first book are way more satisfying; this book took many turns than felt more like a filler or maybe I was just too eager to find out what would happen with Kyler and Nem at the end. Also I was looking forward to get to see Nem's skills and I felt a bit of a let down towards the end or maybe I just wanted to see Kyler suffering a lot for what he had done lol

Overall, a great duet!

"The Resurrected Queen" is the conclusion to the Nemesis duet. After reading the first book I was really excited to find out how the story of Nem and the Quad would continue. I gave the first book a solid six stars because it was such an epic read! For the second book I'm gonna stick with a five star rating. I still loved it, there were plenty of twists and turns, with some spice in between, to keep it interesting until the end. I just have to admit that the whole revenge part of the first book gave it that little extra to catapult it to the top of my 2022 reads. But even with less focus on revenge and more focus on healing, this second book was really good and the perfect conclusion to Nem's story.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. The second book in the duet continues Nem's vow against Kyler. Colton, Dane, Bray and Rune know her secrets and the truth. Her path is either going to end Kyler or end them all. Their story is still full of vengeance, danger, heartache, anger, pain, defiance, friendship and love. This has been a really good story overall. I dove into both books and liked the pace, twists and turns in The Corpse Princess. I liked the final push for revenge, the determination of all the characters and the outcome of The Resurrected Queen.

This book was a great completion of the story. It was interesting to see the change in dynamics once her secret was out to the quad. You get to see her walls crumbling as she fights to keep them up. She stays pretty badass through the whole story though.
I really like how Jayce Carter writes her characters, her women are strong and most of the men have good hearts. In this story, the quad are all supportive and truly love her. Totally recommend these books.

This book is just… words have escaped me. After all the excitement and angst in the first book I wasn’t sure my heart could take much more. Between the plot twists and the heartbreak this is one emotional rollercoaster I would hop back on happily with a smile. The relationship between Jerrod and Nem was a perfect fit for their personalities. I loved that Nem and all her men found their places finally. Highly recommend this wonderful book. This duology shall have a permanent place on my bookshelf.

Absolutely loved this book which finished up Nem's Story with her guys!! So many emotions with this book. From the Guys learning who Nem actually is and what happened to her all those years ago. Nem learning to trust them again and then coming to grips with her feelings for them. All the while she is still trying to maintain her one objective to save her sister. The writing in this book was phenomenal and the story line was great. There were definitely a few twist and turns that I did not see coming. I cant wait to see what the next series that Jayce Carter writes has to offer!!

★ “that d@mN Hester spirit” ★

—>>> The Quad are not about to let her do this alone nor are they willing to lose Nem now that they have her back in her life again. They do all they can to convince her to trust them as her plan slowly coalesces to the point where she can enact the revenge her heart is dead set on and to rescue her sister from their monster of a stepfather. Their chemistry together, her revenge, the twists that develop, the action coming their way, all the details end in a satisfying conclusion.

Love Nem and the Quad

This series was my first with this author. Loved the storyline and the characters. There are some editing issues that became worse in book 2. Incorrect words used such as “ though” instead of “thought” or “it” instead of “is”. Sometimes a word would be completely missing from a sentence. These issues caused me to have to stop and reread a sentence or two to figure out what caused the confusion in the flow. While I did find the errors frustrating I did love the series.

The Resurrection Queen is the cracking conclusion to this duet. Everything builds up and comes to a head in this finale. Nem's revenge plot is on point to go according to plan but as more things come to light it makes it way more complicated for her. Plenty of fast paced action, steamy sexy times, revenge, secrets and lies. Which all went together to make for one hell of a read. I loved it.

Just wondering though if we'll hear more from Kenz and Jarrod? Maybe in their own books? Id definitely read them if there was

This conclusion to the duet is epic. There is so much going on, the plots twists and turns like a roller coaster, and swept me up completely. I found myself compulsively turning the pages to find out what happens next. Tons of surprises right until the very end. Excellent character work, even more minor characters are well created and three dimensional. I loved it, except for when it ended and there was no more Nemesis or Quad....

READ BOOK 1 FIRST
Kelsey was protected by the quad until she died, now Nem is back to save her sister from their stepfather and remove everyone who killed her.
Nem needs to work with the quad to save her sister but is unsure if she can trust them. This is book 2 in a A Reverse Harem duet an the perfect ending for Nem and the Quad

There is so much to read about in this second part of Nemesis. Its exciting its got twists and turns that that one dosnt see coming. And meanwhile the Quad are still trying to find out Nems end game , which she is definitely keeping secret that about. If you have read book one you really dont want to miss this ending.
No spoilers here because you really dont want to miss this exciting end.

This duo is definitely worth five stars

This is part two of the set. Definitely read part one so you get all the details. Nem needs to save her sister. There’s only one more person left to get her revenge, her father. She’s still not sure if she can totally trust the Quad. She’s very attracted to them, all of them. Lots of action, secrets, danger and of course, HEAT! Great story, definitely worth the read. .

Nem’s true identity has been revealed to Dane, Rune, Bray and Colton. The past they grieved is redefined when the truth comes out and their feelings for Nem continue to grow. As their protective nature pulls her in close, Nem must use everything she had learned to continue on her journey that now includes defending against her fathers final plans to end the saga for good.

This second instalment of the series was even more intense and engaging than The Corpse Princess. Gloves are off and smouldering looks galore! The twist of plot is very well done, as Jayce draws you deeper into conflict, betrayal and self realizations.

I would recommend to anyone who enjoys dark romance, a convoluted and entertaining plot line, and HEA.

Thought that this was a great story, right up until the end. For some reason it didnt sit right with me, I'm by no means an author but that's my opinion. Nem has an interesting story, but there really isn't any history regarding what the Hester name means. Why was the quad staying away from Kenz, and willing to be kept in the dark for the 10 years that they were. They should have been able to put shit together since they didnt add up from the get go.

Insanely Intense Conclusion

This story was jam-packed full of action, with twists and turns and unexpected events. I was absolutely gripped by this book - end of Chapter 16 is a doozy! - ignoring my chores in favour of reading this book. Another stunning set of stories by the talented Ms. Carter.

I enjoyed the conclusion to Nem's story. There was plenty of action and steamy moments. There are few twists you might guess but they were still good. Nem goes through a lot of growth during the course of the story. It's nice to see how the Quad helps her with it. I'm kind of curious about some of the other characters we encountered. I would not be opposed to more stories in this world someday.
