This was good for it's time for sure, but if you're looking for a useful guide on modern research, this isn't it. Half of the "techniques" this book teaches are invalidated because of the internet. Not to mention it's bloated with glossaries and indexes that take up half the pages in this book. There are few good tips on how to organize and prepare for an essay, but that's about the most you'll get out of this.

I'm not saying this isn't a well-written book with proven strategies for research - it is. What I am saying is that students already think research isn't the slightest bit interesting, and this book is written in an unenthusiastic and not playful manner, which would confirm that assumption.
