To love and be loved. Both are a foreign concept to Jada Watts becasue every person who should have taught her what the word love means, let her down. When you don’t know what love is, how can you openly give or receive it?
Maurice “Mo” Ladson owns his emotions. Being born and raised in love, he understands what it means to be on both the giving and receiving end of a genuine heart. From the moment he laid eyes on Jada he knew that she would be his one, if he could only convince her to stop running and give love a chance.
They often say opposites attract but when you pair two people with completely different outlooks on love is it possible to find a happy medium? The heart wants what the heart wants and for Mo that’s Jada but she’ll first have to find the courage to push past her fear to let him love her.

Humble Heart was really good! I loved the age gap trope. Jada was a successful wedding planner who is nearing her 40s but in all her success, she is not in a serious relationship or have any children. Mo is 10 years Jada’s senior and marches to the beat of his own drum. Both have successful parents but chose their own careers. Jada had me so upset in the beginning when she judged Mo, unknowing that he was going to turn her world around. I loved that the author discussed high risk pregnancies in this one, it was raw and realistic. Mo & Jada got their stuff together in the end. Good read for me!
Mo the “grown ass man” (his words, not mine) made this story! He was an assertive and didn’t play about how people needed to treat him. Jada reminded of myself so I definitely understood sis being scared. The reverse age gap trope really fit, especially with Mo being mature and sure of himself. I’m glad they got their HEA.
That's what singers do when they are trying to hype the crowd. The author said this was a different writing lane for her, and I agree. However, I also think the story was a good kind of different. And you all, this couple worked my nerves, and they made my heart swell with joy. The backstory with both parents being wealthy and not very good with parenting was really sad. I could not imagine having a fractured relationship with my parents and siblings. Jada had an unkind mother, and Maurice had that treatment from his father and mean-spirited siblings. They were their father's clones in behavior. What I enjoyed the most was the kinder person Jada became, you will see. She was not so judgemental after her run-in with Maurice, and after she discovered the light in his soul. No spoilers..... But the events near the end of the story were unexpected and it had me in prayer mode. And, yes, I know these were fictional characters. The author took us there in this storyline, and I am so happy she let me take the ride-along. 4.75 stars.
Loved the storyline, a humble heart. A story about love, status, family and respect. Jada and Maurice come from very influential families, however you wouldn't know about their families from either of them. Jada can be stuck up and assumes that she knows Maurice, however what she learns about him besides him being fine as wine changes her perspective and she fall for the fine specimen of a young man, oh yeah, Mo is 10 years her junior:) age aint nothing but a number, but can Jada handle it? Jada and Mo come together as one after a few stumbling blocks, Mo trifling sister and Jada, she just couldn't get out of her own way at times. Although Mo is younger than Jada he was a strong young man that was head strong and demanded respect, he was his own person. They have their happily ever after though.
This was a good read. I haven’t read too many books where the woman is older than the man that was a nice change. Mo may have been younger but he knew what he wanted and went after it. I’m so glad Jada let him end and she got her happily ever after.
The one thing that bothered me was the the subject of the baby having Down syndrome (DS). It was worded the baby will “be” DS ppl are not DS they “have” DS. Jada was older so her pregnancy was high risk just because DS is associated with high risk pregnancies this could’ve very well been left out, it’s fiction just let her have a healthy baby even at high risk because it’s very possible. Because the topic of DS didn’t bring any light to the situation and in the end it wasn’t stated whether the baby was actually born with DS. Idk I could’ve done without that part.
This was beautiful story. It’s sad when your family the people that are supposed to love/support you the most don’t do that. Mo family was miserable and they deserved it….. his mother was a nice lady but she definitely needed to check the rest of them. Jada family was something else too, but having her brother and their bond was nice to read!!! Ashleigh was sad, superficial and miserable smh, and her comment about they baby was uncalled for. Everything happened how it was supposed to and it was beautiful ❤️
Mo's patience was tested by Jada a lot lol. In the beginning, I didn't care for her. She was so judgemental and just rubbed you the wrong way, but she finally grew on me. Her friend Grace had me laughing. I loved their interactions. Maurice's family and his ex were very ugly people. I hated the way they treated him. I was soo happy when Jada finally got out of her own way. She deserved that happiness that Mo was trying to give her. Loved this story!
LOVED IT!!! I am a fan of your work, but this sweet love story was everything. Jada had to get out of her own way and head. Mo didn't come to play with her. He said age ain't nothing but a number, stop playing with me, I'm a grown man! Both of them had a messed up parent, who neglected their feelings. But true love always conquers all!! I would like to hear from Phillip and Grace, also Jaden and his lady friend.
This was a cute short read. Since it was so short it was obviously fast paced with I am fine we. I feel like we got more about the MCs’ families than we did them so that was a little disappointing. There was quite a bit of misspellings and homophones throughout but my biggest peeve was saying “is Down Syndrome” instead of “has Down syndrome.” Irks me every time I read it.
Yes i loved this book, Maurice and Jada made such a great couple. I loved that they became friends first. Even though Jada had to let go of some insecurities she did a good job at finding love. Age does not matter at all. It always good to never judge a book by its cover because Maurice was set for life. Great book
Jade mother was a piece of work. Glad her father notice how much they missed out of their children lives. Maurice's, father, brother and sister I could do without. I'm glad he finally put Ash in her place. I'm happy he rekindled his relationship with his mother. Their daughter got all the love she needed with Maurice father and siblings in her life.
Cute premise and I love an age gap trope where the FMC is older so I was set to love this one. However, it would have greatly benefited from an editor and some beta readers. The grammatical errors were plentiful and the pacing of the story needed some work. Both of those things served to take me out of the story.
This book was a different writing style from this author, but it great to see her versatility in her writing.
Meet Jada who has lots of roadblocks in her life so she comes across standoffish and judgmental if she thinks someone is “beneath” her, but really not aware she’s being like that!
Take a ride with Jada and Maurice as they battle family issues, spiteful exes as they strive for HEA!
Jada appeared to be a snobbish prude at first glance, but she was just guarded. Didn’t have the support and love you’d think she would. I’m glad she had Grace and that Grace talked her into going to Mo-Town that night. She met the perfect, younger guy for her (Maurice). They had real love and ended up with their baby girl. I enjoyed this read.
This was so differed from what! I’m used to reading from this author! That being said! She did an awesome job with this book! Maianna and Ashleigh almost made me come through this book!
I enjoyed this quick sweet journey. The journey to HEA was sweet and easy. The background characters were bland. I would have enjoyed more focus on the main characters. Overall it was a good read.
I loved it. I was happy that Mo and Jada made things work. He really did love her though. I was so happy that they had a baby together and that they didn’t play about each other I loved it
I loved this story and how the author used the age gap trope. The older woman falling for the younger man was refreshing. Maurice was a standup guy and he stood by Jada’s side no matter what. Highly recommend!
This was such a sweet story. In the beginning I wasn't sure if I would like Jada but she was just misunderstood. Maurice was on his grown man and the ending was perfect. I highly recommend (JC)
3.5 Now I love me some T’Lyn this wasn’t bad at all just so fast I wanted a little more. I did enjoy the characters and I’m not usually a fan of reverse age gap in general but I loved the energy Mo was giving for his woman!
This book was really good and I enjoyed from the very first page. I love Maurice and Jada it was like they was made for each other. The ending was perfect.
Jada is a successful businesswoman with no time for games. She adheres to a certain standard and won't back down. But she lets her employee drag her to jazz club and meets the owner (Maurice) and suddenly her rules might go out the window.
So I liked Maurice for Jada. She needed someone to anchor her a bit. She was so busy carving out this perfect life, she was letting friends and love pass her by. I love that Maurice made his own dreams come true. I love that he was able to draw a boundary with his family. Speaking of, the background family shenanigans almost took me too fast, but it balanced out. Jada did her running, and I was frustrated with her, but she was teachable and I did like that. The side characters did just enough to be interesting, and I love the passion Jada and Maurice shared. They both learned from one another and defended what they were building. This was a nice book.
