Adelyn x Landon

This review is different than what I usually write, but here we go

Ain't no way. ANFW. Cause the fckng rollercoster of feelings Ms. Jay took me on was absolutely ridiculous. This book was by far THE MOST INFURIATING, MOST FRUSTRATING, AGGRAVATING book I've read. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but I was tensed and soo stressed literally from page one till maybe three or four pages before the book ended. This book had me thinking, like really thinking. I've heard countless stories about unhealthy relationships, but I never knew the depth and the severity of the toxicity of those relationships. I am extremely blessed I haven't dealt with anything like that in my real life cause there's no way. No fckng way. It was actually hard for me to understand why Addie was so blind when it came to Landon. I was quick to call her dumb soo many times and kinda blame her for some of the stuff that happened, but I had to seriously take a moment because I didn't understand why she did the things she did. I still don't, and I don't think I'll ever understand unless I go through it and I pray that I NEVER DO.
So many questions pondered in my mind. Like was I that dumb in my early 20s? Cause these girls were young AF. Have I been this crazy and blindly in "love"? Howwww and whyyyyy are some men like this?
It boggles my mind to think that there are some men really like Landon out there. Cause to be this narcissistic and manipulative and shrewd is absolutely absurd. I know this book is a work of fiction, but damn it kinda messed with me. Bella Jay wrote the hell out of this book. These twins are something else. I definitely recommend this book, but damn it's a lot going on there.

This story was all kinds of toxic and I was sucked all the way in. The author did an amazing job with this hero and heroine. Landon is a complete fvckboy that believed he could lie his way out of all of his wrongdoing. Addie is a hopeless romantic that struggled with the true meaning of love, what it looked like and how she wanted to receive it in her life. Although these 2 characters frustrated me I could not put this book down. I loved that this story ran parallel to her sisters story so we got to see Addie's POV on Avelyn situation and the mending of their relationship as well as the budding relationship with Addie and Waze. I can't wait to get into Tessa's story to learn more about her as well.

The title of this book is so fitting. A Toxic Kind of Love, that's exactly what Adalyn and Landon had. Landon was a character that just could not get his stuff together, no matter how hard he tried. Adalyn was the girlfriend that always wanted to see the good in her man and loved him to a fault. But is love enough sometimes? When Waze enters the scene, he helps Adalyn see that sometimes love isn't enough. But there's a question lingering in Adalyn's mind. Are all men the same? This story was a messy read. I was so caught up in the drama that I was sad when the story ended. Until I realized there's more in the next installment. Great read!

Whew...This book had me messed up! If toxic was turned into a human it would be Landon. The only thing that is saving him from being the most trash male character I’ve ever read, is because he wasn’t physically abusive. Lawd he was trash. Gaslighter at his finest.

Now that I got that out the way, I loved this book because it was real. It was well written and let’s be honest: we have all either known or been an Adalyn. Some may call her weak or dizzy but I just think she was lost. She didn’t know what she deserved because she never had it. When she finally did that’s when her feelings started to shift. I can’t wait to read the follow-up with her and bae. Now onto Tessah’s annoying behind.

Landon, Landon, Landon

This author pulled out everything with this book: engaging storyline, the right dose of drama, and character development. I want to add that I loved how every chapter opened up with a powerful quote that provided context to the chapter. While I am certain this book was about Adalyn, Landon, and Waze, all eyes were on Landon. While he stated his love for Adalyn his ways made you quickly give him the side eye. Unfortunately all of his lies caught up to him and it cost him greatly. My pressure was up reading this book and I couldn't stop reading until I got to the end. Can't wait to continue this series. Whew...what a journey.

OOOOkkkayyyyy ssoooo Landon's level of triflin/**** boy *Trina voice* is unbelievable! Like fool was doing his own thang literally and expecting Addy to just let him as long as he told her he "loved" her. He is just the complete definition of trash. I didn't like him in Book 1 AND the DISLIKE continues.

Moving right along to Addy... She got on my nerves because she kept trying to make it seem as though their relationship was perfect WHOLE TIME EVERYBODY KNEW DIFFERENT! She refused to let her friends be there for her and actually be open with them about what is going on. She was looking for something in Landon that honestly she was NEVER going to get from him because he didn't know how to give it to her.

ANNNNDDD I hate how she dogged my boo Waze! I loved him in Book 1 because he ain't take Ave's mess and gave it to her raw and was a friend when she desperately needed it. He admitted and owned up to his past mistake and he learned from it. Addy held that against him and I didn't understand why.

She got on my nerves after she got back because she fell right back into the same thing. I honestly feel like if everything hadn't happened she would've stayed put and continued the facade, but I KNOW my boo Waze wasn't just gonna let her though.

Oh AND I KNOW WHAT I KNOW SO COME ON WITH THIS ADDIE & WAZE SPIN OFF! Lol
I'm still on the fence about Tessah, but if she get a book I'm reading

Book 2 answered my questions

I read the books out of order, so I had to read book 2 to make book 3 make sense. And this was a nice refresher course to get me into the third book. Landon needs Jesus, and poor Adalyn needs a hug. I can't wait to see what happens in book 4... I'm definitely team Waze....

Adalyn’s story revels how her mother’s death affected her. While her twin is fear of love, Adalyn’s is the opposite. She needs it and she is able to endure whatever it takes to keep it. And that’s what happen with her current relationship with her boyfriend Landon, who is controlling, a compulsive liar, manipulative and a big cheater. He’s been cheating on her almost from the beginning of the relationship.
She has already caught him several times but she ends up forgiving him.
Until he tells he that she needs to be checked bc he has 2 STD.
She leaves him to spend Christmas with her sister and there she meets Waze, a classmate and friend of her sister, with whom she connects and spends a very hot 🔥🔥 week tangled in the sheets.
But she comes home and gives Landon a chance again. And guess how it ends? In disaster.
The story of Addie and Waze remains unfinished and with many questions in the air that will be answered in another book, but seeing how this one has hooked me, I will surely like it.

How do you just accept anything. Like you act like you dont have no type of back bone. I swear Adalyn worked every ounce of a nerve I had. I dont know , Landon tried ,but I was ready for him to Let it Go!!! Like now you really about to make me slap you. I know his heart was in the right place. That past always come back and bite you in the behind! I know his did. LOL, just couldn't be great!

Whew, I have to say this book was on point... Part 3 where you at? It was some low down heffas in this story.

A page turner for sure! I really like part 1 but part 2 is even better!

Girl. Part two took me out!

Where do I start? Lol. Goodness, Landon was complete utter trash. It’s a lot of Landon’s in this world. A LOT. We definitely need more men like Waze. College love is a different level because you’re young, open, willing, and forgiving. It’s all a growing experience and Addie definitely needed that. She definitely needed to experience Waze too. I’m glad she got rid of that eff boy. I’m ready to see Addie and Waze’s part two even though Tess is next.

Kick Butt Love

I've never read a book about a relationship that was exactly as the title states, TOXIC! I was like, I know Adalyn is NOT this dumb and gullable, but she was. That Landon ain't worth the energy it takes to spit on him; he and Gynah belong together- just horrible, evil people. All this back and forth and very unhealthy way of being in a relationship really made my stomach turn. It's sad & infuriating all at once. Another good read. I'm eagar for Adalyn and Waze story to continue in book 4. But now, on to book 3.

Good, better, best

That's how these books are going. They just keep getting better. I really really like me some Waze. I hope things work out for them because they were fated. This story was something else. So much drama but also, so much love. I hope Landon's punk a** mans up and gets his whole life together.

Toxic kind of love is right because baby Landon is the definition of toxic. While I literally screamed at Adalyn while reading this, I’ve been there before. But never again. Landon is a boy playing with Adalyn’s emotions. He claims that he loves her but constantly cheating on her. He’s controlling and gaslights her at every point. While Adalyn sees the red flags left and right, she chooses to ignore them due to childhood trauma that she has yet to deal with. I really loved the story while it was sometimes hard for me to read myself due to it hitting so close to home. I am excited to read the rest of series.

As Real As It Gets

This book was so raw and so real, I loved it!!! Especially, given the fact that all these characters were young and in college, their actions and behaviors really didn't surprise me. They actually made the story more believable. Poor Adalyn just looking for love from all the wrong people and never having fully got the lesson on how to love herself. I'm glad she reconciled with her sister and went to see Dr. Jackei. It was like her eyes were finally opened. I really like the fact that all 3 books storylines are going on simultaneously, it made me want to read the other books even more. This was a very good book! Definitely 5 Stars!

This book is definitely a page turner, once you start it'll be hard to stop. I really enjoyed reading the book from both Addie and Landon's point of view. So far I have enjoyed reading about Addie and Landon's situationship (I wouldn't call Landon's tomfoolery a relationship)and was relieved when Addie wised up and ✌🏾out on him. I can't wait for Addie and Waze's story to find out who's the baby's father! I highly recommend this book, you definitely will be hooked from the beginning to the end.

Bella Jay has done it once again! Great job and I can't wait to read what's in store for everyone next!

" A relationship without trust is like a car without gas, you can stay in all you want, but it won't get anywhere."
unknown

Where book 1 had me on the fence, book 2 had me in my feelings. Landon and Waze were the perfect examples of a before and after. Landon was the before you decided to change your "whorish" ways and Waze was the man you became when you chose to grow. Self-love is important and the author did a great job of showing that from Addy's perspective and even Landon's. This story was engaging and kept my interest without fail. I'm looking forward to the spinoff, as well as, Tessah's story. This was a well-written story. Great job!

Amazing!

Landon has to be the worst man, ever! My GOD! This was a good read. I literally found myself wanting to jump through my Kindle and knock some sense into Adalyn more than a few times Relationships are hard but Adalyn was the only one fighting for the love. I love how Avelyn and Adalyn’s relationship was repaired and it picked up flawlessly from Part 1. Waze is just too cute; I cannot wait to see how their story unfolds.. I’m hoping the baby is not Landon’s.. maybe Gynah and Landon will be a new pair??

You Gotta Read This

So Bella Jay deserves an award for the character development and story line of Landon and Waze! OMFG they are the best flawed male characters I've read this year (and I've read a lot and wrote my own). Sis did the same thing with this story! I hate reviews that give away too much of the story so I won't. Imma just say you gotta read this!

No toxic love

Waze and Adalyn. You have to love you fully and try before you can love anyone else. Addie was loyal to her hearts demise. Luckily, some men truly do grow up and learn to turn away from childish games. Love shouldn't hurt but people often use the guise of love to make some of the deepest wounds. Can't wait to see what happens next in the series.

Adalyn starting off being dumb. Lawd she gonna put me through it.

Wow Char is pathetic and Landon is such a fuckboy it’s sickening

Eww Landon is a dirty dick boy on top of everything else. She needs to run and never look back

Okay Waze. I see you. And so does Addie aka PT

Lawd Addie falling for the okie doke AGAIN. I cannot.

Ok the babies will be for others so Addie won’t have no tie to him. I pray that is the case.

Ivan is sensible. And Landon is such an idiot. I have to give her the D to keep her quiet. Bro that’s how you got burned and a baby on the way.

Gynah will be a thorn in his side and a bomb in his relationship and Landon deserves it. I just feel for Addie but maybe this is what will truly set her free.

OMG. Addie allowed Landon to let her bring harm to herself. Will the baby be safe? 😭

I’m sorry but if I was Addie I’d need to live somewhere else until graduation

I’m glad she finally came to her senses. This was an emotional roller coaster but in a good way.

I’m excited about book 4, team Waze.

Toxic love

This book took me through it because I was so upset with Adalyn and how she allowed Landon to treat her. She was so focused on wanting to fight for love that she allowed Landon to love bomb and manipulate her every time he messed up. There’s no way she should have stayed around after catching him cheating so many times and having no trust in him. Addie was the definition of ignoring all the red flags and not facing the truth that was in her face. Landon was a trash f boy and thought that Addie would never leave him and she would always forgive him and that might have been true had she not met Waze or his karma came back on him in the form of getting his side piece pregnant. In the end, I’m glad that Addie decided to choose herself and love herself more instead of continuing yto accept toxic love from Landon. Now I’m looking forward to seeing how things play out for Adalyn and Waze.

You probably read this book and was like Landon is a DOG, and I can’t say your wrong but I ain’t got it in me to hate Landon. I do have it in me to wonder why Addie thought struggle love would lead to a fairytale tho. Even still this was a great read it really showed real life crazy toxic relationships. Addie truly thought she LOVED Landon and I get we take a lot for the people we love but her meeting Waze was the best thing that could have happened. Aside from the main relationships I was a fan of how Bella showed all aspects of what females are willing to accept in “relationships” like there’s a lot of Gynah’s in the world along with Addie’s and Charmaine’s. Really all around gave an overview of real life and how crazy the dating game can be.

Because Sometimes Growth Hurts Before It Heals.

Listen… Landon’s level of audacity needs to be studied in a lab!
He really out here doing his own thing like loyalty was optional, talking ‘bout “but I love you.” Sir, please. Love without accountability is just manipulation with better lighting.

Addy, my good sis… I wanted to shake her and hug her at the same time. 💔
She was holding on to the idea of love harder than the actual man giving it. Everyone around her could see the house was on fire, but she kept spraying Febreze like it would fix the smoke. I get it though, when you’ve never been loved right, even the wrong kind of attention can feel like home.

Now Waze? My man had growth written all over him. He’s proof that accountability can be attractive. The way he stood on what he learned, the way he moved different this time...yeah, he’s him. He gave honesty, protection, and peace in a story full of noise.

I loved the emotional realism here; the messy friendships, the healing therapy sessions, the sisters finding their way back to each other. It wasn’t romanticized; it was real. These characters were young, flawed, and figuring it out in real time...and that’s what made it hit.

Was it frustrating? Absolutely. But that’s life, isn’t it? You watch people fumble their hearts until they finally realize love ain’t supposed to hurt this much.

Addy needed to lose herself before she could meet herself again and the author captured that perfectly. The story is raw, sometimes chaotic, but never fake.

It made me feel and cuss at the same time.

Sometimes you don’t outgrow people...you just finally see them for who they were the whole time.

It ain’t always sweet…

This love was definitely toxic AF! Adalyn was a fool over Landon for some reason. I was hoping that after her first session with Jakei that she would continue with therapy because one session was NOT enough. The twins’ loss of their parents really messed them up and it just shows how much healing and internal work is needed before trying to love someone else. I definitely can’t wait to read the follow up to this book because I NEED to know whose baby this is!

This toxic kind of love wasnt what I thought I needed at this point in my life but glad it was. I’m not even about to sit here & say Adalyn so this & so that because I’ve definielty been there before & glad I’m no longer there! I so need a Jakei in my life!! Damn Gynah had enough & her actions proved it, crazy how it even was able to start friends or not that’s somebody you see every damn day, living in the same place. Whewwwww the way Adalyn said what she had to say to Landon outside her aunts house had me so happy bc she finally stood up for herself! Wazeeeeeee, I love you too!!!
