Great series!

Alice and her grandfather Nate knew they were being watched. After an unexpected and extremely vague phone call, they knew they had to leave, heading for Nabraska. Men from the department of otherworld affairs were determined to do whatever was necessary to find out about a time traveller and Nate was the one they wanted to question.
A great continuing series surrounding the adventures of the Cracklocks and the Fae. The imagination the author clearly shines through, giving the reader a great plot, magical characters that can perform all sorts of glamours to help them on their way and an excellent descriptive narrative that immerses the reader into the story, helping you see and feel everyone's experiences in this fantasy world. Really enjoyed this 3rd book and looking forward to reading the next! Good job!

Oh my, that was one heck of a read. The most gritty of the main books in the saga so far—darker, and felt aimed at an older audience compared to the first two in the series, which felt more like middle grade reads, though suitable for all ages. I found the book hard to put down throughout, but lost sleep through the last 20%, determined to plough through to the end. No spoilers, but I did shed a tear at one point! Loved the book and am really looking forward to book four.

I did not stop reading until I completed book 3 of the series, and I can't wait for book 4 to come! I love everything in this series! While reading the series, I went through unique characters, different enchanting worlds, a surprising turn of events, and a thrilling magical adventure.

This series is all about the magical adventure of Jack along with his family and fae friends in search of his dad, that was trapped in the mirror realm. It's a long and thrilling adventure that you shouldn't miss!

"Lady Cracklock, Agatha, this is Charles Peterson of the D.O.A. I just wanted to check that my agents made it over to this other place or whatever it is? Do you have any news?" An excerpt from page 294.

First, Fae or Foe? Then, The Lost and the Departed, and now, Alice and the Mirror Glass. The Cracklock Saga book series is one of those brilliant fantasy novels that I've ever read. It's astonishedly well-written, awesomely interesting, full of suspense, hilarious, and action-packed. It reminded me of Susanne Clarke's Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, and George Martin's A Game of Throne. I am eagerly waiting to see what becomes of my lovely and hateful characters in Dire Sorrows.

Following on from the release of the Cracklocks from Agatha's riotous mansion, and the strange call that Elsie got from a supposed family member in the US, it's enthralling to see how this mystifying story develop further in Alice and the Mirror Glass. The whereabouts of David Cracklock have been a quest for the Cracklocks, Agatha sought after his life, the so-called Agency of Otherworld Affairs seek to stop him, and his lovely family desired to have him back. This made the mission to David's whereabouts nurture some ill perceptions from its different seekers, the D.O.A thought he was a time traveler going back and forth in time and causing damage to the world, the Cracklock needs to kill him because he's trying to stop them from destroying the Realm pillar, the other Cracklocks, his dear family, needs to help him escape from the Mirror Realm where he has been trapped for years. This led to a season of coalition between Agatha Cracklock, and Charles Peterson.

Alice, a pleasant character, and a member of the US Cracklock had requested Elsie's attention following the capture of her grandfather, Nate whom some unknown black men had seized. These silly men are from the crew of Charles Peterson, they formed their organization with the hope to prevent America from invasion by extraterrestrial creatures after they had a memorable and horrible experience back then in the year 1947. Nate had been captured and taken to the D.O.A facility, they suspected him to have some link with David, and believed that he would be a great asset to their search in supplying crucial information. However, Nate, after he had been tensed about his daughter's life, gave out all the information he knew about David to Peterson with the hope that he would release his daughter. However, he was shocked when he realized that his daughter together with other captured Cracklocks from England would be joining him in the facility prison. He was disappointed by Peterson's deceitfulness.

The story unfolds, and follow a series of interesting twist to the eventual capture of other Cracklock who was caught while trying to communicate with David in the mirror, they were arrested and driven to the facility. Elsie, Sammy, Jack, Jimmy, Fermy, Roly, Alice, and the smart Poppy and Dorcas who had smartly disappeared during the capture, followed their friends through to the facility. This is my most admirable part, it reminded me of the first capture of the Cracklocks in Agatha's abode, this part again, reads interestingly and it looks as if I was watching a movie. I love the intervention of Roly at difficult part, he played a significant role in this section.

However, I will restrict from revealing further as to what became of the captured Cracklocks in the D.O.A facility. I'd love you to want to check out for yourself how Agatha would feel knowing that Cracklock has again been captured in the Department of Otherworld Affairs, how would they escape from these Agents who are embedded with first-class Otherworld equipment. Will they be able to help David escape from the Mirror Realm? Also, what will become of the selfish connection that exists between Charles Peterson and Agatha when Peterson realized that Agatha had deceived his men to travel to the Mirror Realm knowing fully well that it's a journey of no return. I for one anticipate how these two devil will turn up against themselves. There is much to say about this book, there is much to learn about the Boatman, the aging disease, the blackout in some parts of England, the strange act of Malchiah to Agatha, the aftermath of the Mirror Realm occupants, the rehabilitation of the Department of the Otherworld Affairs, Agatha Cracklock's indulgence, and many more.

This book again proves the expertness of Craig Deegan, and I am a fan of his works. I am more intrigued by his use of words, the placement of each punctuation, his switch from the general third-person point of view, to the use of first-person narration whenever a particular character is telling his 'own' story, I love the way his writing brainily takes his reader's back in time to understand a particular scene, and to have a full understanding of some transition, this is a style that I haven't seen anywhere else, and it's a peculiar trait that I think distinguished his works. I love his characterization, some got me laughing hard at their slightest display of stupidity, his storytelling technique is a great one, one that I have learned some writing techniques from. With all sincerity, this book got me amazed, it's a perfect literature work, and I can't wait to read the fourth book. I'd solely recommend this book to lovers of fantasy, and literature at large.

An awesome instalment in The Cracklock Saga

Jack is still searching for his dad, David, who is stuck in The Mirror Realm. That search is further complicated when they have to rescue Alice from a group of mysterious “men in black”. The group soon find that Alice is related to Jack and is from a previously unknown long line of Cracklocks who have lived in America. The family reunion is cut short though when they find that Alice’s grandfather, Nate has been kidnapped by these “men in black” a group who call themselves the DOA. Nate may hold the key to rescuing David so rescuing him is paramount. But then it all goes sideways when the humans and the Fae are abducted by the DOA and they experiment on the Fae. Cue a thrilling and nerve racking time as they try to destroy the DOAs base of operations and escape. But not everyone survives which leads to some truly emotional scenes. Once again the author C.A. Deegan has written a belter in this cleverly written fantasy. It is fast paced and I cannot wait to read the next book.

Well, the third installment of The Cracklock Saga certainly kept me hooked. After leaving a number of questions at the end of the second book, I was pleased to carry on with this saga as I read the past two in quick succession.

I have come a long way with these characters and feel invested in Jack and companions. I really liked the way this book began, and the punchy writing, plot, and characters really kept me reading. The ending once again was a cliffhanger, but with further entries to be written I can’t help but feel a little frustrated. I hope the author is already hard at work on the next book.

The characters we have met have been fully fleshed out and the new arrivals enhance what is already there, and we are treated to enough of the previous books to build on the world created by C A Deegan. I really am looking forward to the next one and anything else from this author.

This book sees Jack and Co in action in the US.
Nate Cracklock and his granddaughter, Alice, who live in the US, are in trouble. When Nate is snatched by mysterious ‘Men in Black’, Alice calls to her British relatives for help, even though she never knew they existed before she called the number on the note her grandfather left her. Jack and family answer the call, and Alice discovers things she never dreamed of. But of course, in doing so, they end up in a heap of trouble.
I love how C. A. Deegan weaves his stories of intrigue and action – how he gets his characters into trouble and even more ingeniously out of trouble! I’m absolutely hooked by this series; I love the characters, both human and fae, and what they can do. I don’t want to give anything away, but I was rooting for the little people, and Jack and family, all the way, and didn’t want to stop reading until I reached the end of the book. Brilliant! I’m looking forward to reading the next one.

It just gets better!
Jack, his close family, and fae friends are still in search of his dad, David. In ‘Alice and The Mirror Glass’ we are whisked off to the US where Alice and her grandfather Nate—distant relatives of the Cracklock family— are desperate for help and may know the whereabouts of David.
When danger comes in the form of suited men who work for the DOA a secret organisation, Jack and the gang must fight for their lives if they are to free their new fae friends that are being held captive and save themselves. There’s plenty of action to keep you on the edge of your seat and lots of new characters to love and hate.
Again, the author has done an incredible job of creating a thoroughly enjoyable story full of action, adventure, and backstory to keep you up to speed.
A nail-biting ending that I didn’t see coming so straight onto ‘Dire Sorrows’.
Highly Recommended!

Exciting YA

The third book in the Cracklock saga sees the story become more complex and much darker. It’s a thrill of a ride and an excellent adventure. We are introduced to new Cracklocks, new fey, and a new threat entirely in the form of a secret government agency, tasked with protecting the world from “otherworlders.” The characters, as in the other books, are fantastic and well written, and the world building is detailed and clever. This has been my favourite so far in the series and I look forward to the next instalment.

"There's more than one way to skin an otherworlder" - this is one of my favorite quotes from toward the end, but by the time we got there, we'd seen a lot of ways. One general law is that people are afraid of things they don't understand, so they torture them and/or kill them. Lots of these creatures have curious powers and abilities but are generally harmless, but how is the US government supposed to know that? Oh to be "stuck in another realm" - it'll take some trouble to figure this out. We'll have to stay tuned for the next installment. It's fast-paced and well-moving.

What a Cliffhanger!

A fast moving fantasy fiction book for young adults and older ones too.
Amazing storytelling that holds you in its grasp throughout the entire book.
I've already read book one and book two of this series, and they are brilliant. But book three is even more so.
Well done Craig Deegan, that's some imagination you have there.
Highly recommended!

Even better than the first two

This series just keeps getting better: more gripping, more fast paced, and in this case, sadder. Definitely reccomended for fantasy enthusiasts of all types and a great read for children to adults.

The best one yet.

Alice and the Mirror Glass blends fantasy, adventure, magic, fae, imagination and whimsy. The vivid prose takes readers into a world that we’ve come to know but is still refreshingly different with lots of new elements to this book. I love the mirror realm—dark Mr Deegan, dark. There’s only one way back—and you don’t want to know what that is.

All the crew are assembled. ‘Hey Dorcas, sweet girl,’ you can’t write a Cracklock review without a shout-out to everybody’s favourite brownie. Do we finally get David home? Shush, it’s a secret, but we know where he’s been all these years! We meet some new relatives, and I like Alice and her grandad. Their setting and placement were a great choice and gave a different feel to this book—and we have men-in-black baddies after them, Beware the big black Cadillac rolling into view—it always means trouble. Strong tension building. I gelled with Sammy more in this book, too, gotta love a strong mother. Readers are treated to colourful characters and fantastic landscapes, and the clever world-building is magical, immersing readers in a realm where imagination isn’t limited.

I think this is my favourite of the Cracklock saga, so far. It has a more sinister feel to it and the characters are further evolved. Jack’s great. Not everybody makes it to the end of this one—but that’s a secret, too.
