Mirrorside #1

Stalk the Moon

Rate this book
She doesn't know she's Artemis, mythical huntress and goddess of the moon—but he does. And that's all he needs to make sure he gets his happy ending this time. Except he's expecting the Artemis he remembers. Who he gets instead is—

Noelle

With a potty mouth and a Jersey attitude, I've never been the type of girl who cries when things don't go my way. I'm no damsel in distress. Whatever life throws at me, I can handle it. No matter how rough or tough or... weird?

Because falling through a full-length mirror and ending up in a forest wearing nothing but a nightgown is definitely weird. Stabbing a giant scorpion in the eye with a stick? Yup. Weird. Discovering I'm a whiz with a bow and that I can apparently communicate with animals like some grouchy Disney princess—okay, not gonna lie. That's kind of cool.

Being told that I'm supposedly the reincarnation of the Greek goddess Artemis? Super friggin' weird. How am I supposed to believe that? Or that some gorgeous hunk of a guy insists we're meant to be together?

I mean, I might not know a lot about mythology, but wasn't Artemis some kind of virgin?

Hunter

She's back.

After all this time, after all this waiting, she's back in my reach and nothing is going to keep me from changing the way this story ends.

Not the tragedy of our shared history, or the countless times I've already died. Not the fact that her brother has proven repeatedly that he will stop at nothing to keep us separated.

Not even the undeniable truth that Artemis doesn't remember me—or even herself.

She's back. And, this time, she's mine.

It started pretty good but then it dragged and I was waiting for something to happen and it ended and then I realized I was tricked. I didn't get a whole book. I got one of those annoying serials that continue the story on in several books. I hate that and I will NOT continue the series.

I did not enjoy this one. I was really excited for a story with the Greek Goddess Artemis, but we barely even got the real her. I was just bored the entire time. I felt like nothing really happened in this book and it just didn't keep me entertained at all. The characters weren't interesting to me and the conversation just didn't seem natural. Unfortunately, this book was not for me.

Stalk the Moon

A magnificent and great story that I thought was like an updated or more modern day retelling of Alice In Wonderland with of course many wonderful twists. I loved it!!

He has finally found her again but she is not as he remembered and she has no idea shines really is. She falls through a mirror and now she is in a Forrest in just her nightie. She learns she is great with a bow and can even speak to animals. He will make sure they have a better ending. He has died so many times but he refuses this time. Can the ending be better? Can he stop her brother? See if it has a better ending

This was such a fun book to read. I'm not crazy about the traditional romance genre, but as a lover of all things mythology, I liked the concept of the story: a HEA for Artemis and Orion from Greek mythology--who are Noelle and Hunter in this story. If you don't know Greek mythology, the romances have a tragic ending for one or both lovers, and there are many ways things can end badly for Hunter/Orion.

The romance isn't sappy. It's filled with humor and tension. Even though the author says its a HEA ending, as a reader you feel the anxiety Noelle and Hunter feel as they try to find their happiness. You'll love all the characters: snarky Apollo, the randy satyr, and all the others. Even Dudley the cat, with the brief appearance he makes, is memorable and so catlike.

The writing style is wonderful. It was easy to fall right into the world of the Other, along with Noelle. I highly recommend to anyone who's either a romance lover or a lover of mythology.

Honestly I'm not sure what I've just read. Here's my understanding of it.

Noelle lives in New Jersey goes to like a flea market buys a mysterious mirror from a creepy learing man. Comes home and somehow falls through the mirror and she lands in a forest. Triggering a series of events that leads hunter to find her and call her Artemis. Only she's Noelle and wants gmto get back home. Over the next few days she's experiencing out of body se saying, such as being able to shoot a bow and arrow no problem, and having flashbacks. But hunter tells her nothing, no explanation on why she can shoot this bow thats hers. Why he has a cloak and shoes for her, why the honey goat man pissed himself at the site of her, and why everyone is after her. Now I understand this is a series. So I think my rating will be a placeholder untill I've read more and gain a better understanding of just what the fuck is going on.

This book was really a great story from start to finish. The plot and storyline was really unique dealing with Reincarnation and past lives and also staying true to the Greek mythology of Artemis while still creating a unique story that expands on the myth with a modern twist ! Stalk the Moon has everything a good book should have a great plot, characters that are real and relatable, good dialogue and comedy aspects, adventure intrigue and mystery, magic and of course romance. That being said I felt the ending of the first book came to an abrupt end that felt incomplete and in the middle of the story. All that being said I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys magic , Greek mythology, adventure, and romance super glad I was able to read this book thanks to Voracious Readers Only !

Entertaining story with some fun adventure; love the magic mirror angle and that this deals with the Gods. Quirky story with some light humor. Noelle finds herself falling through a magical mirror that brings her to some new land that has lots of dangers. She ends up meeting Hunter, who offers his help to survive in this new place and to help her get a portal back home, but Hunter knows more than he’s saying. I was loving Noelle’s fighter spirit in the beginning, but that began to wane as the story progressed, so I was a bit disappointed in her character. She lets her pride get in the way of making smart decisions and acts irrationally at times; it also makes her come across as a bit of a brat. Hunter is a sweetie, and I like his protective nature. Overall, an interesting story; this one ends in a cliffhanger, so I’m looking forward to reading the next!

Ugh.. that is literally the only word that comes to mind when I think about this book. It was a quick read, but I hated that it doesn’t conclude. Just ends abruptly with the hopes that it’s interesting enough to start the second book. To me it wasn’t. There was so many times I was reading that I just rolled my eyes. I enjoyed the first 50% of the book. But the second half was really disappointing. I won’t be reading the next book.
Why are they in this fantasy world but Hunter has a southern drawl.. it doesn’t match. I also cringed every time he said “darlin’” some of the conversation was so corny too. I could barely stand it.
I feel like there could have been so much potential to this book, but it was rushed and filled with unnecessary plot.
Oh well.

There is something about this author that I really like. This book is completely different to the other ones that I have read by her but it is just as good. She has this amazing ability to bring out the personalities of the characters. The premise of the story is interesting and captures the imagination. As soon as I finished reading, I was googling Greek mythology. As you read, you slowly learn what is really going on in a way that makes you feel part of the story, not just a reader. Jessica keeps you guessing as to how it will end right until the very last page. This is a thoroughly enjoyable book to read. I can’t wait for her to write another one.

This was my first book by this author and I was amazed. I absolutely loved this story.

Noelle comes across a mirror and after which she finds herself into a whole new world. She trying to figure out where she is exactly and how to get back home, all the while meeting up with Hunter, who guides her in the right direction. Or does he? The plot thickens as the story starts to slowly unfold and she comes across another person that holds more mystery of the land she is lost in.

Side note: I love the cliffy, the twists, and the hidden surprises in this enchanting tale. This is certainly an author to follow.

I would rate this book at 2.5 stars and its second half at 3 stars. I usually despise cliffhangers, but since I was reading this on KU and the second book was already released, I didn’t mind as much. If you’re paying for the books, be warned.

I’m not a fan of the writing style in these. The dialogue and storytelling in the first book especially feel very on-the-nose and trite. The main conversation in the story is “I want to know what’s going on,” followed with “I can’t tell you” and repeated ad nauseam. I ended up skimming sections because the “trial” in the story just felt so repetitive. I feel like much of the book could have been chopped down for a better story.

Story is ok

Noelle is just your average girl who goes antique shopping and comes home with a beautiful mirror and super soft blanket. Later on that evening she falls through the mirror which leads to another world. There she meets Hunter. Turns out she's the reincarnation of the goddess Artemis. But Noelle refuses to believe it. Big denial. Hunter promises to help for find a way so they journey through the woods together. Story was ok. A little boring and slow. Their quemistry is ok never really went anywhere although they both feel something. Book left me with more questions than answers.

Left me wanting more!

What an amazing book. I did not know much about Greek mythology before reading this book and yet this book was able to keep my attention and had me very interested. I did not want to finish the book as it got closer to the end because I didn’t want to wait for the next book to be released. This book was that good! The way Jessica lynch grabs your attentions with her writing style, makes you feel like you are in the other. This book has a great story line, and I cannot wait for the second book to come out!

Stalk the Moon is a twisted mythological book that grips you from beginning to end! It's so captivating, that even when your eyelids grow heavy, you fight to stay awake for just one more chapter. So far, I'm in love with everything I've read by Ms. Lynch. Now, I can't wait to sink my teeth into Mirrorside #2, Hunt the Stars. Give me more of Noelle and Hunter...

Stalk the Moon is a riveting spin on Greek Mythology and the tale between Artemis and Orion. This is a must read for all lovers of Mythology & Folk Tales. Go ahead and one-click this whimsical book today. You'll be so glad you did!

I loved this story! It is the first time I have read this author but I need more of this! From the first page I got pulled into another world just like Noelle got pulled through the mirror, though thankfully I wasnt chased by a giant scorpion..... I really couldnt tell where this story was going or where it was headed, there is no predictability like so many books these days but I loved it and will definately be reading more as it is the first book in a series

Noelle buys an old mirror and ends up being transported to another world when she falls through the glass. In The Other she meets a man and he says his name is Ryan Hunter but others call him the huntsman. Hunter calls her Artemis. She also meets Alex who says he is her twin brother and that they must play out their story or she can’t go home. Hunter wants to keep her but her goal is to find a portal and go home. Interesting story

Great Adventure Story

Greek gods reborn to relive their stories? A young woman is given/sold a beautiful mirror that she really wants and later falls to the mirrorside. Where she is told she is really a Greek goddess, has a brother and rescued by Hunter a man she is very much drawn to. Can she trust anything she is being told? She doesn't think so? What's with the gifts they keep giving her? Who's this other way of thinking that keeps taking over her that she knows is just not her? Is she even safe here?

A classic tale of a contemporary character thrown into an alternate world full of magic and monsters, but really well done! The characters pop, the interactions between the two main protagonists are really well written, funny and engaging. Peculiarly, the story is almost totally believable, even considering the fantasy setting, which I think is down to the author's descriptive ability, captivating you with each well-crafted sentence. Well worth a read...

Really enjoyed this paranormal romance! I loved the characters—they are solid and well drawn. I thought the beginning a little slow—a bit too much of the antique fair before she found the mirror. But I knew right away the mirror would be important to the story line, which I loved too. And I also enjoyed the romance—it showed the real push and pull that sometimes happens. Great going Jessica! Can't wait for book 2.

I loved the premise of this book, but it seemed to go nowhere as I was reading through. At some point, i lost all interest, but i kept reading to see if the MC ever got cleaned up. Can you imagine having scorpion blood, dirt, some random dude's blood and who knows what else all over your body, and not only sleeping one night in it, but TWO? Maybe it's just me, but I would have stripped in front of the guy as soon as he showed me that tub. No shame. I stopped reading about 70% through

Oh my god! This book was so, so good. As a mythology fan, I knew I had to read it as soon as I saw it, and I’m so glad I did. Noelle is awesome, and her struggle is so realistic. Hunter is a conundrum, but you can’t help but feel for him. It was all very well written, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

well that sure went nowhere fast.

This was a really quick read (that ended quicker than I expected- at 89% on my Kindle). It left off on a cliffhanger. But there was no real plot in this book. it felt like just the beginning of a book... like this was a teaser for the actual book. We met the characters. We kinda-sorta got an idea of what's going on. but that was it.
I probably won't read any more of this series.

I received a copy of this book from voracious readers and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My favourite character was Noelle because of how strong she was despite of the situation around her. I also liked how Noelle and Hunter worked and developed together. I would love to read the next book in the series and would definitely recommend this book to people who like like romances.

If you miss this, you'll really regret it!

Loved the story. Wow! I also write, but I guess I just pretend. No amount of BIC ( butt in chair ) can begin to match your talent. However I really loved the world you created and the characters. You helped me escape my world for a while.

Made it through the first 2 chapters and was bored to death along with not really getting any sense of what direction this book is going. it took two chapters for Noelle to traipse through a winter flea market. Could not get into this even though description sounds very interesting. Too many books to read something that doesn't hold my interest past the first chapter
