L. Ann started with the Baxters and followed that with multiple series and genres. While her books feature paranormal, FBI, ex-military and Badass Bikers, L. Ann is writing about the strong women that these men need in their life to help right the world's wrongs and keep their small part of the world safe. The women are extraordinary, strong and determined to make a difference. The men fight for right in every book. Yes, they kill people. Yes, the MC shoots at the bad guys’ feet to cause them pain. Yes, some throw tampons at each other regularly. That being said, they do these things while stopping human trafficking and experimentation, bringing their world into legitimate businesses, fighting gangs to keep drugs away from their town and kids, keep women sheltered safely while trying to stop domestic abuse. These are men that don’t leave a pack, Team member or Brother behind. They don’t treat women as possessions and they don’t cheat. Respect takes on an honorable meaning. Women and kids are cherished. Everyone is looked out for and everyone is equal. L. Ann has made amazing worlds, tackled the taboo subjects and made it easy to imagine living in a world where your protection comes from the vampires, shifters, freaky kids, albinos and orientals, military turned FBI and some Badass Bikers. With readers writing about rereading the series over and over, she feels like she’s told her characters’ stories in a way that would make them proud. Every book will make you laugh, every book will make you angry for the wrong that happens in the world. Every book will make you cry for the pain that a character feels. Every book gives you hope that we may just get it right yet
This is book 20 in the BSC Series. You really need to read the previous books in the series to understand this one. This series is also a follow on from The Baxters, The MC, Princes of Prophecy MC, The Protectors and The Providence Series. There are characters from the previous series in this book, but you can probably get away without reading those series provided you read the previous books in this one, you’ll just enjoy and understand this book better if you’ve read the previous series.
Marks first appeared in The Providence Series as a team member for FBI EROPS in Providence. He started life as a police detective and then moved to the FBI, EROPS and then moved to Badass. He’s now VP for Rising² which is an OPs based affliate for BSC West. He’s pretty happy in his new life and feels like he’s making a difference, but he is a little lonely for a woman as he doesn’t have much success on he relationship front.
Ginny is the new Alpha-Bits Protector Lead and has recently transferred from Princes. She’s actually originally from BSC East and was partly raised by Hemy the President there. She got all the same training the Princes kids did though she’s not an ‘ability kid’. She’s 6ft tall, strong and fit with great skills, awareness and ability to lead whilst multi-tasking. She’s a great asset to the new club and Marks likes her on first sight.
This is quite a slow paced book for this series. There’s not a huge amount of action, though there is some (sickles on motorbikes????). I feel like that this book was mainly about establishing a new club and the characters there for future books in the series. There is some personal growth plot going on, but it’s mainly about establishing the club and the people in it for the reader. It’s also setting things up for the future growth of the club as a whole.
I likes Marks when I read about him in previous books, but I didn’t feel like I got to know him much better in this book than I had from him being a support character in other books. Ginny was definitely the character most focused on and she was pretty interesting in the way she was raised, though I felt that I didn’t really get to know much about her personality other than how it related to her work.
This was a fairly enjoyable read, but I didn’t devour it quite as quickly as previous books in the series. If you’ve got this far in the BSC series you will need to read it to carry on for future books, but don’t expect great things going in.
I loved Marks and Tommy! I was so happy to see the brothers from the FBI/EROPS make the jump to Badass, and Marks was the first to get his own story. I hope he won't be the last. This book has all the crazy action that we've come to expect from L Ann Marie, and it was packed with humor. I love this series and highly recommend it!
Enjoyed the new club, but it was with members I don't know. The romance wasn't exactly how I envisioned but for the freaky freaks it worked. The way Mase keeps popping up is really funny, considering the Justice League always does that. Hemy burning and exploding buildings, learning sword fighting and family drama is another great storytelling tale.
Marks & Ginny make an excellent couple. The Brothers continue to be crazy - the good kind. Each of these books in this series keeps getting better. So excited to see where this author takes us next.
Once again...I enjoyed visiting with the people and worlds L Ann Marie creates
The blended stories of MC, Mohegan, Cherokee and FBI bring all of my favorite characters into play. I love every one of her books and eagerly await the next one.
I am glad to see Marks again from previous books Hes the perfect VP for Texas and meets his one in Ginny. But claiming a new old lady is never is easy with the club. But they will meet it all head on.
What an amazing addition to the series. I absolutely love Marks and Ginny’s story. They simply fit. There is great action, love and heartache. Overall love wins and badass rules!
I enjoyed this, but not as much as the others in her series. I had trouble with the characters. I feel like I couldn't get into them as much as the others. It was till a really good read, just a little labored at times
Amazing book and series. These characters pull you in and keep you hooked from the first page to the last. The depth and emotions you feel whilst reading will make you cry and laugh throughout the book a d this entire series.
Ginny is definitely one of my favourite characters along with her ol' man Marks. With each addition to the series the character development continues. So enjoying these books and the world created by L Ann Marie.
I can't ever say it enough. L. Ann Marie weaves this wonderful world of Respect, Honor and Strong with equality. and every story just gets better and better!
Loved Marks and Ginny Cliff Marks, left the FBI and moved on to the Badass MC and landed at Phoenix, and is now the VP at the Rising2 Club. Rising2 is devoted to OPs. He finds he girl in Ginny "Tommy" Cultsee, a protector from Princes, who grew up in Virginia, outside Hemi's club. Hemi has been a devote uncle to her. Things move fast for Marks and Ginny. Dakota and Jessie bring Mingo, Marks friend from EROP, he is Ginny's shield. unbeknownst to her, she is a target, due to her ties to Hemi, which are much closer than she ever knew. The news was hard, but gives her a new sense of belonging. Hemi makes thing right for her. Her Maw Maw has her back. Her mother and tribe have a lot to answer for and Hemi's justice is swift. Ginny is happy in her new club. Marks is perfect for her even if he is a Yankee. She has a job she loves and two of her good friends, Anakin and Mitera, reader who have made their home at Rising2. Aquya has formed a friendship with Marks. He still has a lot of growing up to do. Ginny puts him in his place. Thanks to an Army Delta brother, the protectors are learing to fight with swords. More kids are rescued. Dav, 7, latches on to Sawbones. A pair of swee green eyed twins ar ment for Kristos and Natalia. Loved Marks and Ginny's story. Virgina girl Ginny is full of Southern colloquialisms to Boston boy's Marks, Yankee, who needs a tranlator when Ginny and her Maw Maw get going. A fun fast paced and a little steamy read. Brother with swords, adds a new demention to the crazy. Love their Pres, Texas, can't wait for his story and if the cute food truck girl is really his one. Love this series and it's many spin offs. Can't wait for the next book.
I was surprised " Marks" was next in the series but WOW was this a fun one. Ginny's southern sayings were freakin hilarious , I'm from the south so yup " bless my heart" 😂! I finally thought I had a grip on all the craziness Bada$$ brings ... MC Bikers with world domination plans growing every time Ben and Cort get together, Indian gifted warriors, seers, and prophets that you know fly or light on fire 😜 Oh, and Alpha Bits , genetically grown superstars ( Alder 😉) but now Swords !!!! How Marks who seemed like such a level headed dude in the FBI series just embraces Bada$$ and the crazy , along with claiming his Old Lady and her family surprises was a real joy to read . Spoiler.. I had to read this one twice before I could review it there was sooo much to grasp I didn't want to miss anything.
