C.C. Ekeke is a native of California by way of Georgia by way of Missouri, spending much of his childhood on a steady diet of science fiction movies and television shows, as well as superhero comic books. It was in college studying for a degree in advertising that he stumbled across a desire to write books.
STAR BRIGADE: Resurgent, his debut novel, was originally self-published in December 2005. This re-release marks the second edition of the book. He’s currently at work on the next books in the Star Brigade series.
As this is book 8, I'm pretty invested in this series. That being said, this is probably my least favorite entry. It was a while since I read book 7, so it was a bit of a learning process getting reaquainted with all the characters again. I liked the showdown with Aegis and Damocles, but I still think Ekeke went too far with the introduction of the witches subplot and Excalibur. I'm not really thrilled where the story is heading, but I'll most likely continue. I enjoy most of the characters, both the heroes and the villains, and I think any fan of this genre will enjoy this series.
This series is the best. So much of it reads like a fan fiction story, getting exactly what readers always want but rarely receive. Whenever a new book in this series comes out a rush to read it and can't put it down. Then I'm sad when it's over and have to wait for the next. I love how CC doesn't wait for the end to get big battles, but will sprinkle excitement throughout. One story arc ends in this book, however I am so excited to see where things go in this world. A lot happens here, both good and bad, so I'm very curious where things go from here. I can't recommend this book more, assuming you have enjoyed the previous entries.
Eighth book and still not stagnant. Going to miss greyson(i root for villians too. Im weird.) But he lost his misunderstood, by any means necessary, doing what needs to be done shine two books ago. Looking forward to meeting new heros, but going to mourn max.
Great picture ending to this story. I really enjoyed the story. I didn't want to put down the book. The character development was really well done. Excited to see what the author has next.
Once again, I'm a little torn. This final book of the series had some really cheesy plot twists. But they were cheesy in a way that I think was true to the nature of old-school comics - so I still really enjoyed it.
