The most powerful and dominant shifters at DIA are my mates.

I finally shifted. I should feel relief and excitement, but instead I’m faced with fear of the unknown. The hidden threat that defeated my parents is still out there, and the looming presence of it, posing a threat to my mates, is a constant thought in the back of my mind.

As I reunite with a community I’d forgotten, I can only hope that locked away in my memories is a clue to the life that was stolen from me.

I may not be able to change the past but I’ll fight to protect my future.

Flicker is book 2 in the Storm Dragons’ Mate series that features a slightly naive but sassy MFC, possessive dragon alphas, and a secret that will change everything. This is not a high school academy book and the contents are intended for mature audiences, with characters who are all 18+. This book includes violence and mature sexual content.

Not quite what I was expecting....

For me I expected some badassery from Bex. There just was not any. There were a couple of power moves, but they were unintentional. Some RHs tend to start with a strong FMC and then she finds her mates and that strength begins to plummet. This is my main issue with RH and why there are very few of them with 5 stars for me.

We have a sweet storyline. Not as much heat as one would expect with multiple mates. Secondary characters faded.

Just missed the mark for me.

Happy reading,
DD 🥂

This series is rated over 4 stars on here which is bc the plot is good ok. But the female mc is unbearable.
She is so child like it’s so gross to read from her POVS bc it’s literally like the personality of a 12 year old girl.

Not sure if I will be continuing this series, but it's such a fast read, that I guess I might. This series is not especially good, but I somehow couldn't put it down and still read the first 2 books. I really like possessive and absolutely obsessed MMCs, which is probs what has drawn me to this since there is a lot of that here.

I think the real problem in this book is the FMC, Bexley. Bexley has the emotional intelligence and the intellect of an 8-year-old girl, which makes me feel really fucking uncomfortable every time there is a spicy scene. She's such a ~naive~ (aka stupid) special snowflake to the extent that I think of her like a child. She just looooves cupcakes, stuffed animals, and glitter and is the only person in the entire world who has ever stood up for another person. *rolls eyes*

That said, I do like that she's kind of a girly-girl and not just like every other PNR/Fantasy FMC who ~wears combat boots & PANTS~ (the horror!)
...But I would appreciate if Bexley acted her age just a little bit more. I think she can be feminine while enjoying dressing fashionably/wearing expensive jewelry, and still be an adult. She acts like she's a child, and it gives me the ick given that this is a reverse harem, and the characters are already talking about marriage and kids. She also just has no character depth other than being the only person in this entire universe who has a sense of morality.

Also, I believe she is referred to as "perfect" about 9 times in this 220 page book, so that description got old pretty damn quick.

The ending was completely predictable and nothing really happened in this book (it felt like a filler book between books 1 and 3), but yet I still enjoyed it? I can't really decide how to rate it, but my overall feeling is "it was ok," so I'm going with 2 stars.

DNF At 34%

OK so I may have spoken too soon in my review of the last book. This one reads like a slow-paced filler in the worst way imaginable. I was SO bored for the full 34% that I read. Nothing was happening. The heroine was actually starting to grate with how naive she was acting. It actually felt like she somehow regressed from the first book (which, for some, was already pushing it). I don't think this series is for me.

The 2nd book in The Storm Dragon’s Mate starts with immediate action. The cliffhanger ending of the previous book gets resolved quickly and well. Bexley is a youthful and innocent woman with a sensual side. I love that this series is tied into the other series in the Dark Imaginarium Academy world. The storyline is developing well and I can’t wait to see what Bexley and her men encounter next.

Wow. That’s about as coherent as I can be right now after finishing this book. We dig a little into the history and politics of Bexley’s life, but what we learn only opens up more areas for investigation. We get to see a little bit more of the people these storm dragon heirs are at their cores and discover some things about their powers. Like the book before it, this ends with a cliff-hanger, but this one doesn’t leave me howling in frustration quite as loudly. Everything revealed in this book only makes me want to get my hands on the next one all the more.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.

⭐⭐⭐. 5 stars.

It was an easy sweet read. I was expecting more action or plot but it was still entertaining. Bex started to know about her past and family. The relationship with the guys was sweet but something was missing for me.

Plot: ⭐⭐
Romance: ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Spiciness: 🔥🔥
Action: 💥💥
Angst: 😞
Hea: Cliffhanger.

I had put a random rate just to remind me of the date of release but it turned out to be an accurate guess instead. The book is honestly not deserving of more stars than 1. Absolutely nothing happens. I wonder why it takes the author so long to write these empty scenes. The dialogues and inner-monologues are very repetitive ans boring ans predictable. I cannot feel the difference between all three mates tbh, and since jagger and breaker were "late to the party" I feel like they are simple gage doubles and don't really feel any fuzzies anymore.

The fmc is extremely naïve to a fault or maybe actually dumb? Because I understand her not having her memories but there are many instances where her intelligence and intuition should kick in, but nope. She is constantly sleeping. I think 70% of this book is her sleeping. Also she is incredibly spoiled and behaves like a spoiled brat even though everyone sees her as this super sweet person. Also the "do-gooder" personality she is supposed to have didn't sell in my opinion. It feels overly done... idk

The mates are all also jelouse to a fault. I do love possessive and protective mates, but to have her be inside knitting 100% of the time? Please no.

There is zero things going on. Like we dont even get to have drama in a oarty because all that happened is them arriving, not socializing with anyone but with tje other and then leave...

The world building is lacking.
There is little to no dialogue.
Again, nothing happens.

The only redeeming qualities this series have is that they are that they have tropes I like (even if not well delivered): dragons, royalty, friends to lovers, rh, amnesia. That's the only reason I will read the next one.

So cute

Bex really starts to come into her own in this story. She finds out who she is and the lock on her past starts to lift. But there's more going on than just at the academy, it's on the outside. As she is reintroduced to society to reclaim her birthright, it starts getting brought into the school. In the meantime, she starts to remember more of her mates and establish connections there.

The cliffhanger at the end answers a question that felt a long time coming.

Much as I love all the DAI heroines, I think Bexley and her men are probably my favourites, so I was delighted to dive back into their story!

The events at the end of the last book have been enough to jolt everything into place and break the binding on Bexley. Now, she has to deal with her shifts, the attitudes of the classmates and her returning memories - and the impact of those!

I love the upbeat, positive feel of the book, which comes in a large part from Bexley's personality. Even when things aren't going to plan, she's still looking for the positives.

There's at least one more book in the series to go, but it seems a few of them are turning into quads, rather than trilogies - no complaints here!

After 8 years, Bex finally shifts! Unfortunately it was not the special occasion Bex and her guys were hoping for; but one good thing did come from it as the magic block she had on her mind is gone and she doesn’t suffer any pain from her past. There were a few miscommunications with the guys not able to say certain things so they didn’t trigger Bex but now she understands she isn’t a job and the guys really do care and have known her since she was young. Her memory is coming back slowly but I can’t wait to find out more about her family and what happens to her.

Bex does a lot growing up in this one. She is still the same sweetheart that we love, just is growing into a stronger person. I am in love with this world and all the characters and stories. I can't wait for more

🎶 Flashing lights and we. Took a wrong turn and we. Fell down a rabbit hole 🎶

Bex has finally shifted, a milestone she should celebrate with relief and excitement, yet instead, she’s overwhelmed by fear of the unknown. The hidden threat that killed her parents still lurks in the shadows, its presence a constant worry, especially as she fears for the safety of her mates.

─── ・ 。゚☆: THOUGHTS*.☽ .*:☆゚. ───

“Come over here, let her scent you. I think her dragon is making it hard for her to recognize us.”

“You have to turn the aggression down,” I warned. “She can sense it.”

Bex was getting headaches more often every time she tried to think about her past, and the others really wanted to know about her background, but they couldn’t push her without causing her pain. They hated that, and honestly, you could feel their frustration. But then, finally, she came into her own and found her dragon—and she shifted! I literally cheered! Gage, Jagger, and Breaker were losing their minds because this was exactly what they’d been hoping for, but not at the expense of her safety. It took her being threatened for her to finally shift, but in the end, it was such a turning point. She’s starting to remember everything she lost and, slowly, uncovering more about herself and her past. So, finally, some progress. It was definitely a rollercoaster, but she’s getting there.

“The opposite, Bexley. You may not be violent, but if you’re threatened, your dragon will act accordingly, and I know you don’t want to hurt anyone.”

She’s now standing up for prey shifters, and her aura has gotten so strong that people who once didn’t give her a second thought are now starting to be wary of her. She’s the only female storm dragon, and her power is on another level. She’s an alpha in every sense of the word, and people don’t mess with her anymore because she just commands attention. Her strength and presence alone make people think twice. And her boys? They’re so proud of her. They see the force she’s become, and they’re right there, supporting her every step of the way.

“Feel free to do it again,” he growled, nipping my lip. “Mark me any way you want, as many times as you want, because I want my marks all over you too, cupcake.”

They’re also starting to bond with her in ways that go beyond just support—they want to be claimed by her. It’s like they’re all becoming one, fully intertwined, each of them entirely hers. The connection is deepening, and it’s clear they’re not just there to back her up, but to be part of her, in every sense. They’ve found their place by her side, and she’s become the center of their world. They’re each other’s, completely. It’s an unbreakable bond that’s only growing stronger.

─── ・ 。゚☆: OVERALL*.☽ .*:☆゚. ───

It’s still not all the way there yet for me, but I can at least see the beginning of their connection. I can feel the pull between them, even if it’s not fully developed yet. It’s like they’re starting to understand each other and find their place in this bond, but it’s not quite as solid as I’d like it to be.

Flicker is the second book in the Storm Dragon's Mates series and I loved it. It feels like I've been waiting forever for Bexley's second book, especially after the cliffhanger ending in the first book and of course, M. Sinclair didn't disappoint me.

Bexley "Bex" growing up separate from the rest of the shifter world and without her memories sees the shifter world from a fresh perspective. She sees the issues that are occurring on campus and refuses to let them slide. Bex has the biggest heart, truly. She is considerate, respectful, and has a huge amount of empathy, she's basically a pacifist but when she sees an injustice she has this fierce protective side come out at its fabulous.

Of course, the guys are great. I like Gage, Jagger, and Breaker from the first moment I met them. Bex has a bunch of powerful and fierce dragons for mates who are the leaders in their community. I could tell the guys adored Bexley in the first book but things have gone even further in this one. Each of them protective, caring, possessive, patient, and loving towards Bexley and willing to decimate anyone who dares harm her. I love them and apparently, Bex does too because she and the guys' relationship has gotten very serious.

I love this universe, and how the characters overlap. Alina and Deva make an appearance in a scene that is now told from all three of their perspectives and helps connect the stories. It's the best. Shifter society is a hot mess as Bex is finding out. There is a lot of aggression with the shifters and it's very present in the Academy. Prey shifters getting physically assaulted for no reason, talks of purity, and then there's the dominance issues, and not just at the academy.

The dragon clans have finally made an appearance and it was interesting getting to see the guys' parents and learning more about the past. However, something is brewing in the shifter community and the fact that the dragons never found out what happened to Bex's parents, things are unsettled in that department but Bex does get answers about other things like a shifter side and about some things that happened in the past.

I absolutely love this world, Bex and her guys are fantastic plus the story is entertaining. An orphan who didn't know she was a dragon and has three mates, natural alliances, dragons, girls kicking butt and showing sister solidarity, social dynamics, and an enemy for long ago returning, all make for good entertainment. Flicker ended on a horrifying reveal but I'm not surprised by it, the only real question is, what are Bex and the guys gonna do about the threat they're facing?

I had been anxiously awaiting this second book in the Storm Dragons' Mate series by M. Sinclair and Flicker did NOT let me down! Bexley and her men are back and I am here for it all as Bexley works to discover what it means to be a dragon with some very sexy dominant possessive mates

This story picks up right where the first story left us, and just dives right in! But this time we get the chance to see it unfold from the guys POV and I loved seeing how devoted they are to Bex! As the story unfolds we finally get to see more about Bex, her past, her secrets , her family and just what kind of dragon she is. And seeing all of the relationships grow throughout the story as it beautifully unfolds was absolutely perfection as Sinclair is a master at character building! And as always, I love being able to see some familiar faces from the DIA world as it’s always a happy little bonus! And having Bex finally start to remember—perfection!

Overall if dragon shifter, why choose romances full of steam, passion, dominance and of course possessive alphas are you’re thing then this is the one for you! And that ending?!? I can’t wait for the third book!

This is the second book in The Storm Dragons’ Mate Series, which is set in the shared universe of Dark Imaginarium Academy. I can honestly tell you that I have read all of the current books in this shared universe and there is not a single book that I didn’t absolutely love!

Bex is such an incredible character and I simply love her. She is such a tender, caring, and sweet person who is working her way up to taking charge and becoming the true powerhouse that she is. I love her character’s development as well as the relationship developments between her and her mates in this book. The storyline, characters, and writing, as well as the world building are all stunning!

I highly recommend this book and series and am very much looking forward to the next one.

The story is good and works well, what is starting to grate a bit now, is that Bexley is the princess and is treated like a child and behaves like a six year old princess except she's older and has sex. In all other respects she is the fluffy little girl. Adored and fluffed by all and sundry, except those who don't like her when she stands up for the prey shifters and the aqua shifters.
On the story side of it, she is now mating with her three mates, she has announced her presence, and she finally fills in quite a few of the gaps.

Bex is such a cuttie! Very sassy but still, so cute. I likes the development of the storylines her mates are suporte hot and She always wants to protect them even if they are bada** dragons. Its just missing a litlle more action, more informativo about some behind the scenes. Easy to read and very enjoyable.

REVIEW FOR ENTIRE SERIES (The Storm Dragon's Mate) ⛈🐉🤍

•Overall rating: 4.5/5. Ok so I shall start with a disclaimer, this was the fourth (final) series I read for the DIA chronicles and did so immediately after Phases of the moon series.

THE 4TH BOOK COMES OUT IN 4 MONTHS! GAH WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF?!?!?! 😰

The last 2 series are written by M.Sinclair but continues on with Caulders other DIA novels; The worlds within this series are derivative but in a good way - I wasn't craving a new author's spin on the classical monsters ie: vampires, witches, wolves and ghouls, I mean, if it aint broke ya know?

The series was easy to read, was quick about world building but detailed enough that I could see everywhere and also scattered Easter eggs & references to her other books in here that kept me wondering (pre-emptively getting me hooked on all the series... well played Sinclair). The idea is that there's different realms for different monsters and what ties them all together for the sake of this plot is an academy that students (21+ so we keep is saucy not icky) can attend to hone their skills... yet they seem to bone more than hone in my opinion *gasps and clutches pearls* 😲

This series, covered the Shifter Sector (Animals) and follows Bex/Bexley (hated the name) and her three mates (my ranking):

1. Gage Bronzehheart: Bronze storm dragon heir.
✔ Rich, aggressive, dark, leader and who she is closest with/grew up with. She also had no idea he was in love with her... hello friends to lovers trope! Looks like he could kill you - could kill you.
2. Breaker Firespell : Gold storm dragon heir.
✔ Rich, golden retriever, beef cake, chef and emotionally giving. Looks like he could kill you - is a cinnamon roll.
3. Jagger Silvershade: Silver storm dragon heir.
✔ Rich, handome, Gojo-esk look, thirsty ALL THE TIME and all about pleasure. Looks like a cinnamon roll - could kill you.

• Favourite character: The mates made these books. PERIOD. 🐉🐉🐉🥵🥰😜

Look I am bias to a baddie and Bex just wasn't it for me**. That being said her damsel energy was needed as it complimented the males very well, I acknowledge that if she had been more independent then the dynamics wouldn't have sat as well as they did. Gage was so romantic and the perfect amount of possessive & caring. Breaker was this swoll marshmellow and he was so cute leaving her little notes as she grew up because he couldn't go see her. Jagger... did things to me. HE WAS JUST SO HOT! 🔥 hehe dragon pun.

The combination of their personalities was like the ultimate WAP dream everyone! I don't really like marriage, kids and together forever tropes but these 3 dragon daddys totally had me sighing and saying "YA'LL GET MARRIED, HAVE DRAGON BABIES AND LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER!". I enjoyed how they gave autonomy to Bex but also had the initiative to take care of things - healthy boundaries people! Kudos goes to Sinclair for the male POV chapters, it was just... so intense reading romance wise - made me hate on the entire IRL male population by the end of book 1.

Can I also shout out to Rachel Rabbit?!? 🐇

• Hated character: **Bex 🙄

Ok hear me out! Her fashion choices, her amnesia in the entire book one leading to her being an idiot (like you can't remember the past but why you acting dumb in the present), her needing to be fed all the time, her cuddling in/being a weakling despite being a DRAGON, hating violence, telling her mates what to do despite not being an expert, taking ages to click the most basic plots, her gross rich girl energy and her overall codependent vibe. DIDN'T CLICK SHE WAS A STORM DRAGON DESPITE BEING MATED TO 3... GTFO! 😒🙄🤔

IT MADE THE MALES BETTER BUT FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK! I don't want to hang with her haha

• Smut vs Plot: 50/50 the romance mainly in book 1 and smut comes in book 2 & 3. Bex doesn't give super horny like the other leading ladies so its male instigated and because they are always caring for her (naps, food, bathing etc) they give her days breaks from their dragony appetites' which I hated haha HOWEVER the story was interesting and covered shifter politics and deceit so I remained entertained.

• Spice rating (1-5): 🌶🌶🌶.5

Note: I may have messaged my friends at the time saying if my next partner doesnt refer to me as edible... then I dont it. 🤷‍♀️🙌

• Reminds me of: the logic of the dragon's needs/POV reminded me of Fourth Wing/Iron flame which was nice to read about. Fiery dragons always come back to those books though don't they? I MISS YOU ANDARNA! 🥺

• Re-read: YES! I had a great time and pre-ordered the final book for July. These were my favourite out of all 4 of the series in the DIA world. 💶

• Trope: Reverse Harem, Mated bonds, Fantasy, Shifters, Dragons & good ol possessive males!

• Pet names:
Bex, Cupcake, little treasure & mo chuisle/my pulse 😩😩😩 so sweet!!!

• Smut energy: hmmmmm it was very much innocent but curious girl meets 3 very different dragons, offering different options which she very much cared for. The situations were pretty vanilla and predictable bar the last book which surprised me. CAN I JUST SAY the way Sinclair describes climaxing, claiming & marking... euphoric. Had me out here wishing I could relate! Such great writing. 🎆

Also, all virgins at the start which yall know I don't care for BUT they didn't hype it up too much so I was comfortable. It was highly predictable (in a good way) that she would lose her V plates to Gage as he was her best friend first PLUS I am glad when they did it had a "fuck it" "he snapped" energy 🖤 Defs some breeding kinks happening considering the storm dragon's cannot locate any more female dragons and shes mated to three heirs HOWEVER for once... I love it hehehe HAVE DRAGON BABIES ASAP!

Note: Jagger hasn't completed his bonding/mating which has me on edge! 🙀

• Favourite dynamic: THEIR ENTIRE FAMILY!
🤍🤎💛🖤
The males & Bex being best friends and growing up together was adorable. The kids fighting over who is her best friend in their youth... GAH TOO CUTE! I had nothing but time for them hanging out around campus, their dorm and how sweet the three of them were with Bex who lets be real...needed that. Also the males banter amongst each other as 3 bff hits - so many lols when they are roasting each other or Bex... roast... dragon pun hehehe

• Favourite quotes/Bants:

"My perfect fucking mate." "Our beautiful dragon mate" "Bexley wasn’t just a dragon—she was a female storm dragon."

"“Talk about my mate dying again and I’ll break every bone in your body.”"

"Bexley, who was hiding in the shadows of the cave, made a wounded noise that made my chest squeeze. Any anger I was still holding onto about how we’d found her in the bathroom truly disappeared, my need to take care of my mate far surpassing anything else."

" “You have to turn the aggression down,” I warned. “She can sense it.” Gage shot me a frustrated look before moving his gaze back to Bexley. “Cupcake, I promise I’m not mad or angry at you. I’m just on edge because of what happened.” "

"My relief was short lived as Jagger gently lifted her golden hair, examining her neck. Ioan’s claw marks marred her skin. I closed my eyes momentarily, trying to steady myself from the inferno threatening to burst out from my chest. One that demanded vengeance for my injured mate."

"The sight of him unraveling appealed to a part of me I didn’t fully understand."

"“Possessive. I love it.” Gage kissed my forehead and stood up, probably going to take a seat."

"When he appeared seconds later with a gold and black jersey for me, his name proudly on the back, I took it greedily. He didn’t realize it yet, but he was never getting this back."

" “Little treasure—shit,” Jagger groaned."

"“You look perfect,” Breaker said. He’d appeared behind Jagger, dressed similarly. “Ignore him, he’s just being possessive.”"

"Normally my dragon would be defensive about the idea of another dragon trying to assert dominance, but for once he was silent, aware we were all united under the need to figure out what had upset Bexley and how we could make her happy once more."

"The idea of other male shifters looking at her made me see red."

"Walking into the living room to take a closer look at my new schedule, a groan broke from Breaker’s throat where he was making a snack. “Mo chuisle, do those pants say—” “Juicy? On her ass? Yeah, they do,” Gage grumbled, making me smile."

"“Wait! Could we do a double—well, it would be more than double, I guess—date thing? That sounds super fun to me."

"“It may take a bit of convincing to get them to tell us,” Jagger said softly. “Convincing?” I arched my brow. “Violence. It may take violence,” Breaker admitted. Oh."

"I did notice there was a distinctly dark way he watched me, almost predatory in nature, and I absolutely loved it."

"“Bexley, come back here,” Gage rumbled. “Can’t do that. Don’t trust that you won’t drag me back like some freakin’ cave dragon.”"

"“I don’t want anyone hearing those sweet noises you make, cupcake.”"

"He let out an actual growl, the sound vibrating through me as my toes curled in response, my breath catching."

"Letting out a pained sound, he tugged on my bottom lip. “But I can’t do that without being inside of you. I don’t have that type of control.” “I don’t like control,” I whispered, unable to stop myself. His gaze snapped to mine and flashed pure bronze."

"Fuck, Bex.”

"You are so sweet—you’re fucking edible, Bexley.”

"She turned towards her husband, keeping me close. “I want him punished, Leo.” “I know,” he said in understanding, “let’s just take a moment to hear the full details—” “No,” Celine bit out, her voice laced with venom. “He attacked her, that’s all I need to know. He attacked our Bexley. I will not see this unpunished.”"

" “And you, little bunny, need to get back to your dorm. It’s almost evening.” “He calls her little bunny,” I whispered to my mates. My friend shot me a scowl as her nose twitched."

"Although I had no idea why he wasn’t sleeping well, especially after what I suspected happened between Bexley and him last night. If I came home smelling like Bexley’s desire, I would sleep so fucking easily."

"Putting down my coffee on the floor, I crooked my finger at her. She made a surprised noise but instantly crawled onto my lap. I groaned as my fingers ran over her ass and pulled her flush against my chest, loving how she rolled her hips naturally against my hard length while melting into my embrace."

"“Nor the flowers,” Jagger murmured. My head snapped his way. “Flowers?” “Yeah, what flowers?” Gage asked in mock confusion. “Yeah…” The tips of Jagger’s ears turned red as he ran a hand through his hair, clearly not having meant to say it out loud. “The flowers you received every day were from me.” Fates, this man was going to kill me. He was so freakin’ sweet."

"“Please do that again,” I whispered, my voice nearly a plea. “Please, Breaker?” “Fuck, you never have to beg me,” he growled, searing his lips to mine before hoisting me further up on the wall so his lips could move down my throat..."

"“Your last name,” Celine confirmed. Bexley Blackforge."

"The sunlight hit my mate, making it appear like she was truly sparkling, and my chest constricted. How was it possible that such a beautiful woman existed in the first place? How was she real?"

"“No warning. No warning at all,” his father bit out towards his son, making me tense. “Stop. Now,” Breaker warned in a sudden flare of dominance. “Do not use that tone around her.”"

"“You have no idea what I want to do to you, little treasure.” I had a feeling it wasn’t bad at all, but now I was very interested in knowing. “Show me,” I whispered, my voice a near plea."

"The noises coming out of him were animalistic, and his grip on my hips was tight and unyielding."

After many years, Bexley finally shifted and there are more questions than answers. We get to know more about her background and about her guys, but not everybody is happy about what's going with her, not even her classmates. I wonder what the answers will be and I can't wait tor read the next book.

***

Notes:

❌ Lack of proper development & foundations

- contradictory information/behaviour
- poor explanations
- weak backgrounds
- information that makes no sense
- 1 dimensional characters

For example:

🔸Academy

Not much is seen of their classes.
It simply is the place where they are. Not that they are there a lot because there is something always going on.

I find it really difficult to accept the FMC was able to unlock her powers in just 1 week.
At least there was no build up nor justification for it (nor for anything in this story actually).
It all changed from one moment to the other.
One moment she didn't feel anything and the other she effortlessly does a lot of powerful stuff.

🔸FMC

- Perfect snowflake

It does get annoying.
I am all for an innocent FMC but it needs to be believable and well done.

But here, it is all about how perfect she is, how she is loved by everyone, how she can never do anything wrong and how powerful she is but she is always so nice to everyone.
And to help, the MMCs' POV are constantly admiring her beauty, sweetness and innocence.

And now, she is effortlessly powerful and innocently the idealistic defender of the weak.
She doesn't recall her powers, she was young the last time she had them but she has no trouble using them now.

It all feels so forced and fake.

- Ignorant

There is no excuse for her to be so ignorant.

Actually, it should be the opposite.

Even if she cannot know/hear about anything regarding her family, her mates or her powers, that doesn't mean she couldn't have had training.
If everyone cared about her as they claimed, they would have prepared her.

And, unless she is completely oblivious, which she shouldn't be as they claim she is quite smart, she should have been able to make some conclusions regarding her past, herself and what everyone cannot say around her.

🔸Romance

- cute moments

Not gonna lie, they do have some sweet moments but mostly it feels empty.

- Unrealistic

Too soon, no build up, no getting to know each other.

The characters are very 1 dimensional and their relationship is pretty instant.

Behaviour wise, it is all very flat and constant, pretty repetitive.

The FMC never gets angry/frustrated nor do the MMCs get angry/frustrated with her.
There are no disagreements.
Everyone gets along with no problems.
They are always so besotted with her, always admiring her and constantly saying the same things: she is so beautiful, she is so cute, I am so lucky to have her, I need to make sure she has her needs taken care of,...
It doesn't feel like a real relationship.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against romance and having the MCs devoted to each other.

My problem here is the delivery. It is too much, too fake, too forced.

***

My respect to the author.
No hate.
Just my opinion and so I can recall what I liked/disliked in the future.

🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 spiceness

Damn, that’s crazy! What a cliffhanger. Obviously I will be immediately reading the next book.. Once again- great characters, storyline, and magic! I really appreciate the lack of severe misunderstandings that are so prevalent in most romantasies. This is a very sweetly romantic fantasy rather than an adventure type fantasy still (in case that matters to anyone reading this review!) also once again the academic theme of this series is more scene than plot related currently. Which does make sense since they have been being tutored their entire lives before coming here. They have also been pretty busy! I was hoping there would be at least one class this time where it helped her connect with her animal since she finally had a situation where she “lost control” I suppose you could say. I was also wonderingggggg about how relevant that family would become since they were constantly mentioned. Curious to see what happens next! Oh also all these character names are so amusing to me! It’s cute that seemingly “background” characters have normal names and then the MC’s have these crazy names that (while being interesting and cool given their shifter types and shades) it seems like these were just words related to dragons somehow and then put into a generator to create a name. They are like the names video games automatically generate for your character based on your class type selection! Thats not a dig or anything I personally find it amusing! I would definitely expect dragons to have crazy and weird names for sure if they were normalized like this irl. On to the next!! P.s. anyone know why the author approved this cover art on the first book and this one when I don’t think girly even owns any black clothes that aren’t undergarments! She is a a very colorful person. Is this supposed to be her inner badass that is very deeply buried? What about the other dragon that there should be? What about the dragons being the wrong colors? Who are the dragons if not her and her mates? Idk I feel like they could have gotten away with the dragon wrapped around her symbolizing her inner animal especially since it was obvious from the start of the first book she would end up being a dragon but then having two dragons above her is confusing. Her parents arent mentioned enough at all so far for that to be them or if it is that seems super odd since they are mentioned specifically like 4 times maybe between both these books.. idk… I usually like cover art, but these have just been stressful to me! Ha.
