Another great graphic novel in a really interesting vampire series!
This one was really focused on the relationship between En and Ichii. Ichii really wants En to choose him as his partner, but En is still sort of overwhelmed and hesitant, despite also having feelings, and Ichii doesn't want to rush him. I like that En has been taking time to make his decision. That feels believable to me, and like a smart reaction. It's basically a marriage, maybe even more since there's a blood exchange that affects them, and that seems like something that shouldn't be taken lightly.
Not a lot happened plot-wise, but I don't mind because these are all such great characters that I enjoy just getting to know them and learning about their lives and feelings and perspectives and seeing them interact.
This continued to be a sort of sad depiction of vampires, without being a sad story. It's just, they're beautiful and long-lived and seem like they have it all, but they still struggle with knowing they're no longer human, with outliving human partners and children, with depression, with grief, with loneliness. But they seem to sort of try to be there for each other. Some of them, at least.
This one added more to the vampire lore of this world, and it's so fascinating. Like special mirrors, so that they can see their reflections.
And then that ending! I won't spoil it, but ooooooh, I really want more info and to know what's going to happen next!
The art was, once again, lovely to look at. Beautiful people drawn beautifully! This artist is honestly just good at drawing everything in perfect detail, it seems. Faces, bodies, hands, hair, clothes.
I sometimes had a really hard time figuring out who was speaking. Sometimes there were cues, like word bubble shapes, but they seemed inconsistent. A little frustrating, but not a huge deal.
Overall, this was a great sequel with a fascinating, in-depth, somewhat melancholic portrayal of vampires, and I'm very much looking forward to the next volume!
Recommended For: Fans of Volume 1 in Billy Balibally's FANGS series. Anyone who likes graphic novels or manga, a glamorous but sometimes sad take on vampires, mlm romance and sex, sweet and playful romance, a bit of humor, beautiful art, and characters with depth.
I like this series but there’s something about it that’s holding me back from being totally in love.
I like the art and the cool, stylish vibe of the characters. There are definitely some cute moments between En and Ichii. There’s also a splash of cheeky humour. Also this manga is steamyyyy!!
What I don’t like is the fact that I just don’t care about the plot. It’s not memorable. Also some characters have the same face, similar hair and names to other characters. And their personalities can be forgettable so I don’t know who’s who. I had a hard time sticking with the manga and had to really push myself to get to the end.
The ending of this volume though? Might just get me to stick around. Now things are looking interesting.
"i don't have any need for a pair...if it's not with you."
IM NOT OKAY IM NOT OKAY IM NOT OKAY IM NOT OKAY IM NOT OKAY IM NOT OKAY IM NOT OKAY IM NOT OKAY IM NOT OKAY IM NOT OKAY IM NOT OKAY IM NOT OKAY IM NOT OKAY IM NOT OKAY IM NOT OKAY IM NOT OKAY IM NOT OKAY IM NOT OKAY IM NOT OKAY IM NOT OKAY IM NOT OKAY
what in the cliffhanger was that omg!!!! i hate cliffhangers but this was so fucking good! and THAT ENDING? I GASPED. i need the next volume now or i don't think i will survive 😭
we did see a little more of ichii's past which i was super happy about but i NEED more. and i need more of en because he is so precious. and them together? perfection. i need them to be happy, in love, and living their best life together like I NEED WATER.
the swoon level? through the roof. the chemistry? they ARE chemistry. how ichii is starting to let en in and be more comfortable with him? i CRY. the plot? the plot is PLOTTING so good 🤌
"hey, en. i'll be...my real self in front of you." 🥺❤️ we love seeing character development
"i told you we're making love. so that you'll know how much i care about you." "making...?" "making love. that's what you call it when it's two people who feel that way about each other." 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I CAN'T. i will never recover for this couple.
"don't wake up before i do."
ichii woke up and found en gone from beside him and started getting scared/upset, but en just went out for ice cream. so he told him that he can't wake up before he does. pls that scene had my heart bursting IT WAS SO CUTE. 🥺
HELL NO!! THAT'S THE END? I NEED THE NEXT VOLUME ASAP. There's something new with the art style. I think it became more comical with this one, not that it's something I'm not fond of. Despite that fact, the storyline is getting more and more intense especially with the entrance of a new villain-y character. I also love how En and Ichii's relationship is getting stronger, which will surely be tested by the new character. I'm excited about how everything will turn out. I'm a lazy bug but I swear, I'll consume Fangs 3 in a heartbeat!
SHAKING. God the ART. I'll never get over it. To draw like Billy would be an absolute dream.
So this is the sequel to Fangs and it basically picks up where it left off, but now there's more of a mystery aspect, which I'm assuming relates to En's attack?
The back and forth was driving me insane! And now when they finally have their stuff situated we get hit with a plot twist. I had flipped through the Japanese version previously so I knew we were going to get some surprise villain-ish character, but AHHH!! Ichii!! I'm excited to finally learn more about him,but super nervous for their relationship. They're so rocky and En still feels insecure about his place in Ichii's heart. I just want them to love each other.
FANGS, Volume 2 is just as good as volume 1, with continued great artwork and an interesting plot and romance. We delve more into the world of vampires, and the increased threat of a big bad looms over the story. As Ichii's and En's relationship develops and feelings get more complex, a secret from Ichii's past is hinted at even more.
One of the things I love about FANGS is the side characters. They're all fully realised and just as interesting to follow as our main couple.
As soon as En and Ichii start moving forward in their relationship, we get this plot twist cliffhanger of an ending. I'm not happy about it, but I'm also kind of excited to learn more about Ichii's past. These two are so perfect for each other that I can't imagine anything they can't overcome in order to be together. Everyone recognizes that they'd make a perfect pair, I'm just waiting for En to see it as well. 🥰 4 stars
I want to protect En at all costs. This installment made me giggle a couple times and the spice is poppin off BUT THAT ENDING??? WHAT??? When is volume three coming out ;_;
It’d be a lot easier if our souls became monstrous too.
I didn't love this quite as much as the first volume, but I still loved it!! Even though the plot isn't moving as quickly as I would like, and even if we aren't getting as much world-building and vampire stuff as I would like, the romance is still absolutely peak. Ichi and En are so tender and sweet with each other, even when they're bickering or miscommunicating. There's something so precious about the relationship, and I love it. I don't care about alpha males, but alpha with a heart of gold? I eat it up. Also this is just so genuinely funny sometimes. I laughed out loud at the bit where Momoji's ex had drawn him into a photo, because he didn't show up on cameras. And there were probably more sex scenes in this than were needed, but I loved that they all had personality and humour, and never felt cookie-cutter. (En's dick saying 'all good here! 👍😃' lmao I died.)
Really enjoyed the side characters as well. I was delighted to see the sexy butch again, with a sexy femme... life partner? bff? Who knows. I honestly have trouble telling some of the other vampire dudes apart. Maybe because it's been so long since I read the first volume? I kinda hope we get more side stories with them, and more chances to build up their personalities. I will say, I loved the art a lot, but I did find the composition a little lacking. Like, it often seemed really jumbled and confusing, and it was sometimes hard to tell what was happening in an image. But idk, it might just be me.
Other than Ichi and En sorting out their issues with whether or not to be a pair, and Ichi finally opening up a little, this volume advanced the plot a little bit more, re: the mysterious deaths and crime scenes. It ends on a pretty bug revelation and cliff-hanger, and I'm really interested to see where things go from here.
A really solid volume!
I don’t have any need for a pair if it’s not with you.
This volume really leans into what makes Fangs so addictive. The relationship deepens, the tension is dialed up and the emotional beats feel more intentional this time around. The banter is still sharp, but there’s more vulnerability beneath it, which makes the connection feel richer.
And oooooweeeee! This volume was steamy. The chemistry is undeniable. It definitely simmers on the page in a way that feels intimate without losing its charm and humour.
The art style remains one of my favourite parts. It's stylish, expressive and beautiful. The visuals do so much of the storytelling on their own.
But THE ENDING?? What a cliffhanger. I cannot wait to jump into volume 3!!
