Ken Farmer didn't write his first full novel until he was sixty-nine years of age. He often wonders what the hell took him so long. At age seventy-nine…he's currently working on novel number thirty-seven. Ken spent thirty years raising cattle and quarter horses in Texas and forty-five years as a professional actor (after a stint in the Marine Corps). Those years gave him a background for storytelling…or as he has been known to say, "I've always been a bit of a bull---t artist, so writing novels kind of came naturally once it occurred to me I could put my stories down on paper." Ken's writing style has been likened to a combination of Louis L'Amour and Terry C. Johnston with an occasional Hitchcockian twist…now that's a combination. In addition to his love for writing fiction, he likes to teach acting, voice-over and writing workshops. His favorite expression is: "Just tell the damn story." Writing has become Ken's second life: he has been a Marine, played collegiate football, been a Texas wildcatter, cattle and horse rancher, professional film and TV actor and director, and now…a novelist. Who knew? Ken Farmer's dialogue flows like a beautiful western river…it's the gold standard…Carole Beers
I bought this paperback directly from Timber Creek Press. Ken Farmer continues to satisfy his many fans with another incredible story in the Silke Justice series. The book starts off like a rocket, with this multi-time dimensional family (Bone, Lorraine, Silke, and Haven) teaming up to eliminate a Cherokee renegade sociopath Mankiller who kidnapped a little girl to the Marshal who killed his equally evil Indian brother. Like most of KF’s other great books in this series, it is truly a morality play with incredibly evil men being tracked by incredibly good men and women. Mankiller leaves a trail of needlessly killed innocents, apparently to antagonize the avenger of his evil brother. In this series, Farmer combines the best western yarns of Elmer Kelton and Louis L’ Amour with the best science fiction storytelling of Robert Heinlein. Once you start one of Farmer’s books, don’t plan on getting any work done, because it is impossible not to read in one sitting. So, marine, get back to your type-writer or word-processor, because this is my favorite series from Timber Creek press.
Another exciting western from Ken Farmer. Good plot line full of some neat twists and turns. Antagonist is a sociopath so I won’t say much about character development. An easy light read.
As always a fantastic read. I really enjoy these books on Bone. Love his Sence of humor. But I advise not reading this book near bed time. I cold not lay it down so I was really tired the next day. But we’ll worth it. Give it a read you will get hooked. Can’t wait for the next one. Thank you Ken Farmer for the awesome read.
I've been waiting for the next books about Bone and Loraine with Silke. All of my favorite characters are in this book! I can't wait for the next book! This is a wonderful series.
