Ray has worked hard to stay out of trouble. He works his jobs, does what he's told, and doesn't complain. But when the only source of solace in his life is taken, his father forces him to take less reputable work to make up the difference. But is this really a hole he's willing to dig himself?Meanwhile, Teo and AJ struggle with how to find the information they seek without attracting unwanted attention.
This one is Ray's book. Teo and AJ are still viewpoint characters, but they're more stalled in their ability to take action. As they do what they need to do to keep their heads above water (and don't get me wrong: I loved all of their scenes, think they're all necessary groundwork laid in an engaging way), Ray's story is the driving force in this one. I believe artistically inclined readers will resonate with the passion that shows him the right path in the end. We see some of the fallout from Charlie's story in the last book, too, and I look forward to the progressions of both the plot and the various character arcs!
