With the two forced to work together, it’s a war of words and mistrust—Rowan will use any means necessary to steal the precious Book of Damned to save his daughter and the missing students, even if he has to seduce Evee to accomplish it. Meanwhile, Evee is determined to unearth Rowan’s secret and see him rot in jail. But to save not only the school and students but society as they know it, the pair must put aside their differences and do something neither desires—work as a team to save what’s most precious to them.

Anyone looking for spicy fantasy reads will absolutely love the Clayridge Chronicles! Blood Lust and Black Magic is my favourite yet, with a super intense and exciting plot and plenty of spicy love scenes!

What a ride!
This book was fantastic. The world building that was in the first book excelled in this installment. Rowan I honestly didn't like in book 1. This book he shined. Loved him. Evee was so hard on him from their previous relationship but once she let that go they lit the pages on fire.
There were many characters that stood out that I'm looking forward to in upcoming books.
I'm looking forward to many more books for this series. Great job Ms Allie.

This was everything I was hoping for and more. Full of action packed drama and suspense. This book also pulled on the heart stings too.

I loved the first book and all the novellas in the Clayridge series but they don’t compare to Blood Lust and Black Magic. This book took the world building to a whole new level. I could easily picture each character and each scenario in my mind like a movie. The spice level was perfect! I’m also becoming weirdly attached to the familiars. I feel like I need more of Tiberius! 🐙

If you love all things paranormal, spicy, and plot driven--the Clayridge Chronicles are for you!! Reading Blood Lust and Black Magic was like having a movie play in my head! There was so much drama, tension, action, and of course the spice!!! The characters and universe are so complex without being overwhelming. And talk about emotions!! I experienced them ALL!! I cannot wait for the next book in this series!

Blood Lust and Black Magic by Cameron Allie is a thrilling return to the magical world of Clayridge, filled with dark secrets, high stakes, and an unlikely partnership. In this book, Rowan Mallor steps into the spotlight, transitioning from the somewhat irritating side character in Love Spells to a fully fleshed-out antihero. I had my doubts about him after his actions in the previous book, but Rowan proves himself here, harnessing his cunning and resolve to protect those he cares about, particularly his newfound daughter.
One of the highlights of this book was the deepening of the Clayridge lore. The expansion of this dark, magical world added layers of intrigue, and the stakes were notably higher than in Love Spells. I appreciated how the story left loose threads by the end, leaving me eager to see what happens next in the series.
However, the pacing wasn’t without its flaws. While Rowan’s character arc was strong, Evee felt underdeveloped at first. Her fierce introduction left little room to enjoy the sassy personality we might have expected, and we weren’t given the same buildup for her character as we were for Rowan. That made it harder to connect with her in the beginning, though her dynamic with her close friends (Quinn, Isla, Julianna) was a bright spot, reminiscent of the friends scene in Love Spells.
Another downside was the lack of polish in some parts of the book. Several scenes felt repetitive, with some moments reading like they’d been lifted from sneak peeks of other books. There were also times when the shifting points of view were disorienting, especially toward the end when a lot was happening. These changes made it difficult to follow the story’s action clearly.
Despite these issues, Blood Lust and Black Magic succeeds in drawing readers deeper into the dangerous and magical underworld of Clayridge. Rowan’s journey from a somewhat disliked character to a determined antihero was compelling, and the book sets up an exciting path forward for the series. If you’re a fan of the world Cameron Allie created in Love Spells, this sequel is worth picking up for its darker themes and complex characters.

The excellent world-building from the first book is expanded here, with exhilarating action and well-developed characters.
I liked Rowan and Evee, as individuals and as a couple. Both had integrity in spades and a yearning to make up for past mistakes. They were very competitive, and neither wanted to cede the upper hand, but they had each other’s backs when it mattered most.
The author made full use of the characters’ magical and physical abilities, which I always appreciate. As much as Rowan started this rescue mission on his own, he called in reinforcements when necessary, and it was fabulous seeing them all work together. Their familiars were so impudent and amusing.
This book was quite harsh at times with more than one scene alluding to sexual assault and degradation. I’d say that it added gravitas to the bleak situation of the victims and the cruelty of their captors, but it was difficult to read.
I can highly recommend this series if you like magic, suspense, and steamy romance. You don’t have to read them in order, but the first book does an excellent job of setting up this world and is well worth reading first.
