Skylar Jordin Hughes’s life is perfectly fine despite the life-altering blow of losing the very epicenter of her world a mere nine months ago. Thankfully she has the security of loving friends and routine comforts in her life to keep her evenly keeled. When a friend asks her for a favor and she acquiesces, it brings a bit of chaos that spices up Skylar’s mostly staid existence.
That chaos comes in the form of Christian Sullivan—a man who is entirely too appealing for Skylar’s own good. She finds herself inexplicably drawn to Christian, much to her own dismay considering that she has a man at home. This is further complicated when unknown connections between Skylar and Christian are uncovered and rock Skylar’s world in ways she never saw coming.

We’ve Only Just Begun was a fun read. I absolutely adored Skylar and Sully. Their personalities matched so, they really clicked as a couple. Their love journey was sweet and not without the drama. Between Alonzo and his petty azz mama, Sully’s quick wit, and Valora’s slick mouth you will be thoroughly entertained. Speaking of Sully, he was an absolute ham. Honey, his comedic energy was on one in this book. He kept everyone laughing. Myself included. I loved catching up with the Holliday sisters & Geffri and Blair from The New Beginnings. I especially loved the mention of Princeton Lattimore. If you read In His Corner, you know who that is. I really enjoyed this book. We’ve Only Just Begun is classic Nicole Falls. The characters were entertaining, the storyline was enjoyable, and the humor was on point. A good time is always had when I read her books.
Sully & SkylarJo made for an interesting couple. I loved the energy that Sully brought from the very beginning….He had a great sense of humor….this story will make you laugh…and Skylar fit perfectly with his sense of humor and allowed us to see her quick wit…they fit great together.
Ooh I enjoyed this book! Officially adding Sully to my book bae list!
Skylar Jo had been living a comfortable life. Her relationship had long lost the spark, but it felt safe so she stayed. One encounter with Sully had her feeling everything but the mundane she had been experiencing and she ran from those reckless emotions.
Sully was enthralled with Skylar's beauty from their first meeting. However, their second encounter was when he experienced her energy and ya boy was still a goner. They had an immediate connection, we are talking about heat. Due to Skylar's relationship nothing was pursued.
When ish hits the fan Sully who is a jokester through and through is anything but that when it comes to Skylar's safety. The protectiveness and respect he showed for her before they were anything was everything. I mean come on with that energy!!
Finally, after patiently waiting Sully is able to show her he is serious about them. He pulls no punches in pursuing her with respect at her pace. I loved Sully for Skylar because he was a fool and kept her laughing. By that same token he cherished her and made it his job to keep her safe. That BDE was prevalent.
This book had me laughing, ready to fight, and swooning all in a short span. I hope to hear more from Sully and Skylar Jo because they have only just begun.
I did not want it to to end. A pleasant read about the colliding of opportunity and attraction. Skylar was a sweetheart and seemed like a nice around the way girl. Sully came full of Swag, Confidence, and Humor. Vee is the homegirl that everyone needs in their life. Hope to see these characters appear in future N. Falls work.
Now that was a good story. It was interesting, joyful, and delightful to see this couple become more. Sully kept me screaming and laughing at his crazy antics. The story was fabulous too.
How is it that folks are so upset when you break up with them before the could break up with you? Alonzo was a joke! Sully was a comedian! His one liners belt me giggling. Skylar was content and that allowed Alonzo to slack on too much for too long. I enjoyed reading this story but would have preferred more passion since there was sting chemistry between Skylar and Sully.
It is refreshing to read a book by Ms. Falls. Her penmanship ✍🏾 never falters and she can make fictional characters seem real. I adored Sully and Skylar's journey to becoming an item however it did not come without any drama. It was quite ironic that a photoshoot that Skylar informed Alonzo about was the start of the foolery. The foolery was a blessing and a curse. A blessing because Skylar saw Alonzo's true colors. A curse for the "thumb thugs" on social media better known as Alonzo's family. I guess Alonzo had a right to be in his feelings because of the way those scenes were described both Skylar and Sully were lusting. Sully's description alone I knew he had to be some serious eye candy. Sully was able to be Skylar's knight in shining armor and swoop in to get his lady.
Sully and Skylar just fit because their personalities match. Skylar laughed at Sully's corny jokes but he was able to pull her out of her shell. He did what she promised her mom she would do and that's "live." My favorite scene was the prayer that Skylar and Sully exchanged in bed. It was hilarious. Their interactions and relationship proved that Alonzo wasn't the man for her. Sully was confident and determined to make Skylar his. He made sure no one disrespected her or they would have to answer to him. At one point he even put his livelihood on the line.
This is one of those romances that will keep you intrigued by giving you just enough drama to turn the next page. You begin to anticipate what is coming or going to pop off. You will be so invested in this book especially when you start recognizing past characters. I always love it when past characters make cameos. So what I'm trying to say is download and/or purchase this book and get into it. You can depend on Ms. Falls to not disappoint.
Skylar was such a sweet soul with a lot of not so great things consistently coming her way. The way her ex flipped on her was a bit shocking and unexpected. I thought he'd already moved on to be honest, due to how he was already treating her before he moved for his new job. I'm just glad she saw his true colors before she committed herself fully to him and abandoned the only life she knew.
Christian 'Sully' Sullivan was alright with me. The instant attraction he had for Skylar was so intense, yet I like that he respected that she was in a relationship. Once he saw how her ex had her hemmed up, he was on go to protect her and I'm not mad about it 😏. I like that he wanted to ensure Skylar was ok and get to know her at her pace. I really liked them together and with his silly, light hearted ways and her shy, yet straight forward ways, they really complemented each other.
I love that Skylar had a village in her friends Valora, her husband Frankie and all of Valoras' sisters. They were there for Skylar and held her down and I love that.
This was such a good story. While I understand that he was a big part of the book, I would've liked less about Alonzo, Skylar's ex, and more on her and Sully.
Either way, this was a great read. Highly recommend.
2.8/5⭐️2/5🌶 Bro idk what happened with this book. It started out so good. Skyjo character was it! So sweet and calming but the writing fell short. Her character had potential but didn't go anywhere. Same thing for Sully he was a great addition to the book had me laughing the whole time but he didn't have any growth like the book was at a standstill and i was 70% done cdfu. Then it just ended... no epilogue no conclusion. I thought my phone was tripping. If the book was longer it probably would have been better definitely a no for me but bc of sullys character it gets my high praise. Oh also the character val was a photographer and specialized in romantic art and we get this grainy ass cover. However I can appreciate Sully standing up for Sky but idk a lot was missing from this. The fight scene was too funny alonzo definitely got his ass beat thats why i put the Friday scene. Definitely need to start reading more from black authors though bc i was cdfu the whole time the dialogue was so good. Definitely not the 1 or the 2 or the 3 tbh.
Skylar, Skylar, Skylar. What can I say about SkyJo. She was hurting and hung on to what she believed to be her lifeline. The ex of hers was trash from the beginning and everyone saw it but her. But under the circumstances I can understand why. I hate it took her so long and for it to turn violent in order for the blinders to come off. She was done mentally before the incident I just don't think she handled going about it the right way. It should have happened much much sooner but when that Sully came to the rescue, mhph! Yes!!
Christian was everything. Charming, funny, charismatic and protective. Soon as he stepped on the scene his presence captivated the room. He just had this aura about him... BDE literally! Whew! The way he jumped into action no questions asked I knew right then this man wasn't going anywhere and he dared anyone to try and change his mind. It was genuine and was exactly what Sky needed. They complement each other well. It started out electric with their chemistry from the beginning, got testy for a sec, but they recovered well.
#ReviewTyM: For all who love romance novels, you know sometimes the desire to read the book is stemmed from the cover alone. Stuck in her way, Skylar agrees to a favor outside of her comfort zone that introduces her to Christian "Sully" Sullivan. The images and video captured during their shoot were so hot, the author had to make some rewrites just to capture the chemistry. Social media buzz over the images become viral and Skylar’s boyfriend was less than pleased and his overreaction ends their relationship. Lucky for Skylar, this opened the opportunity for a new love to begin.
This story was a little short leaving me wanting more. The love, protectiveness and all around goodness of Sully had me swooning 😍 I'm talkin' all the feels. All the stories I’ve read in Ms. Falls catalog have been short but they have been complete stories and enjoyable to read. If you’re looking for short (Kindle: 164 pages) and sweet with a little bit of heat, you may want to check it out.
This was a really cute short story☺️ Who new a photo shoot with two complete strangers would turn into such an exciting chain of events. Skylar was simply trying to do a friend a favor while Sully on the other hand was just trying to assist in making sure a newcomer to modeling felt at ease. Neither of them expected they would create sparks that would turn into heated attraction between them. Nor did Skylar expect one little photoshoot to be the catalyst to bring an unhealthy relationship to an end.
This is a enjoyable read, however Ms. Nicole Falls left me wanting more because I had a couple of unanswered questions😂 I guess that may mean there’s going to be a second book in the making❤️❤️ I sure hope so
This surprising release from Nicole Falls did not disappoint. This story was written with her usual witty flair that kept me chuckling.. Sully and Skylar were good together, he was exactly what she needed to bring her out of her safe bubble. Love those Holliday sisters and Valora Holliday was a complete cut up, the ride or die friend every woman needs. I did not like Alonzo from the beginning he deserved each time Sully hemmed him up. Totally recommend this to new and old Nicole Fall readers.
Oh wow, it’s a small world 🌎…Chris got industry connections & Skylar’s friends with the Holliday women, got her back too. The gangs all here. Cool‼️Thereafter, “We’ve Only Just Begun” Skylar & Chris’ journey to a relationship was a necessary transition from the mundane. Plus for the preservation of sanity & extrication of that “dusty a$$” (🤣😂) ex is/was a LOSER from everyone’s life! More so this book was entertaining, the characters were genuine & overall great read😁‼️
I really enjoyed this book. The chemistry between Skylar and Sully was great. I loved the way he kept her laughing and feeling safe. A lot of her issues with her ex felt relatable to me. That made it an even more interesting read. I also loved catching up with the characters from the Holliday Sisters series and the New Beginnings series. This was a fun, easy read.
I loved Skylar and Sully. Alonzo not so much, even before the chaos he was suspect. I loved Valora, everyone needs a crazy bff like her. Skylar liked to play it safe but when she went out on that limb she had a fine man with a sense a humor to catch her. I also loved how Sully went hard for her no matter the consequences. This held the perfect combo of love, drama and humor.
I just love Nicole Falls! Her writing is so good and her sense of humor is the best. I loved this couple of the gate! Sully is confident without being arrogant; funny without being silly and the epitome of a gentleman. Sky is a beautiful yet shy woman. Content with the simple things in life, yet dims her light to settle for a boy in men's clothing. A simple photo shoot brings sparks between Sully and Sky and the fallout leaves collateral damage that it causes changes both their lives.
Ms Falls always has a beautiful unique prospective on how we find and protect our forever lives and Sully is the quintessential man’s man and I loved every minute of his ease and love language. When two people are destined to find each other no one even themselves can interfere. This couple will have you cheering and all out laughing as we follow them through their journey to become one😍. Great story definitely worth the read!
Great read, I enjoy the characters and storyline. Sully and Skylar had instant chemistry at a photo shoot. Unfortunately, she was in a relationship. Her man Zo became jealous of the photos and made accusations of infidelity. His reaction and their ultimate break up opened the door for Sully to pursue Skylar. There was plenty of action and drama. It was good catching up with some of the Holliday sisters.
Sully's personality and sense of humor was awesome. This book was full of humor from other characters too. The whole vibe was warm and cozy. Minus Zo's bitch ass, of course.
“Hey God, it’s me Skylar. What did I do to earn this misfortune? These two nuts in my life are going to drive me crazy.” “She meant to ask what did she do to earn this favor, Father. If I were You, I wouldn’t let her talk to me like that, but you The Almighty, so I’ma let you do ya thang,” ..."
Such classic Nicole Falls! Always a good time reading her books. I'm always sure to laugh out loud at her crazy character's shenanigans. I love me some Sully. And I needed Alonzo to get stomped out, even though I was sad such a beautiful name had to be given to such a punk a$$. This was a great read.
This story was super cute. Had me smiling pretty much the whole time. Sully was bae and stuck up for his woman against whoever. He was about that life when it came to Skylar. I’m glad Skylar was able to see that Zo wasn’t the one before it was too late. I loved the beginning of their story and how they met at a stranger photoshoot.
When I say I enjoyed this book to the fullest. With everything going on. The jokes that Sully had was refreshing. I think Sky is coming out of her grief and truly finding herself again. Even with all the drama from Zo. Sully and Sky have started a good thing. Hopefully it blossoms. We need a part 2!
Skylar and Chris! This was a super cute read. Took me no time at all and held my interest. I love a solid good guy who does what he says he will do. No questions asked. Chris was the epitome of this and Skylar, ughhh loved her too. Cute, reserved, plays by the rules. Couldn’t go wrong with the build up between these two. Chris was patient until Skylar was ready to acquiesce.
It started slow but when it picked up I couldn’t put down Sky and sully were just meant to be and Alonzo showed his true colors and a$$ but Ms falls I would have given more starts if it just hadn’t abruptly ended with no closure you are so much better than that is there even another book in the works….. I need something
I enjoyed how both main characters met & the initial spark between them at the photo shoot led to something so sweet. The fate that followed was a surprise love that dreams will definitely come true.
Sully was the funniest male character I've read in a long while. His come backs and wit were just what Skylar needed. That other mofo was big wildin'. Before that I like them for each other and hope to read more about them.
This was a cute story, however, it ended too soon. I wanted to know the outcome of the court case and the evolution of Jo and Sully’s relationship. I felt like I was left hanging. Having said that, it was a funny story. An enjoyable quick read.
I love a cocky slick mouthed man. Chris did not disappoint. He and Skylar were fun to watch unfold. This was a sweet journey, wth just the right amount of drama and heat. This is a great read.
This was a great book about knowing when it’s over and letting go. It’s about red flags that are ignored. And it’s about following your gut and heart. Loved seeing some familiar faces!
