I'm upset with this author. I like this book and thought it could have been awesome...if the author had just had it EDITED! Ugh so frustrating to be into a good book, a book that makes you happy to be reading it and find yourself stumbling over the sentences because of wrong words, missing word, extra words, etc. Nothing ruins and intimate scene more than to have to stop reading and try to figure out what author the is saying. Now your flow is messed up and so is the mood. Like if you’re in the room with a sexy guy he is dressed nicely, smelling good, he removes his pants and has on some holey tighty whities!
I thought the sex scenes were darn good (minus the errors). I didn't feel like I was reading the same sexual scene each time, which is good considering how much sex is in this book. But don't get me wrong the author is quite repetitive another thing that irked me. I think if she had this book looked over by an editor, hopefully they would have removed some of this for her.
The description pretty much sums up what happens in the book. It's an interracial romance. Alec (white) runs into a crying Jaya (black) in an elevator and having no other choice, he soothes her.
This book still gets 3 stars even with all the other stuff mentioned. To me, it reads kind of like Fifty Shades of Gray sexually but a bit better because of the creativity and freshness. Her writing style is sort J.R. Wardish to me. EDIT authors, you really are doing your work a disservice by not at the very least having it proofread. A lot of these mistakes could have easily been caught by beta readers that you asked to review for errors.

Whipped right through this book. A Very quick, fun read. It is told primarily from the POV (not first person) of the heroine, Jaya. I loved Jaya's voice. She was funny with a quick, sarcastic wit that I could totally relate to. At one point she is describing the scene she walks in on with her ex-fiancee and her sister:
Her inner voice, with all her pithy observations about the people around her, is just as funny.
Her relationship with Alec is sexily explosive. It is one of those where they have a hard time keeping their hands off of each other even thought they really don't want to have a relationship. And they are sexually adventurous. I think I would have been somewhat annoyed with the pre-occupation with the sex if the author hadn't also established that Alec and Jaya were also attempting to connect outside of the bedroom.
She is uptight, a little OCD, and plans her life by lists. Alec is a rolling stone. If he is anywhere for too long he starts to feel suffocated. He is determined to make her act a little more impulsively. She is just as determined to push him on what she sees as his waste of potential.
I could have easily rated the book a whole star higher, really. The back-story for both Jaya and Alec, especially their relationships with their respective parents & siblings was really quite good -- the stuff that some great emotional heft could have been attached to. Unfortunately, I think both these areas got the short shrift. Jaya's troubled relationship with her father is dangled tantalizingly in bits here and there. I liked the earlier glimpses of her father that made him enigmatic and a little opaque. However I thought his reaction to Alec's little speech about Jaya's worth was a little too simplistic. I would have loved for the author to delve a little more deeply into the roots of that relationship.
Same deal with Jaya's sister. There are intriguing glimpses that Tamara is more than just the fiance stealer/orgasm faker that Jaya views her as. But Tamara just disappears. I wonder if she'll appear in later books?
I loved Alec's stepmother, the inimitable Adele, and would have enjoyed spending more time with her. I thought the subplot with Alec's brother felt somewhat incongruous with the rest of the story.
All in all though this was a good read. I thought the writing was bright and spry. I easily fell into the story and, more importantly, I stayed there (I've been DNF'ing books like crazy lately). There were a few minor typos, but nothing that really intruded.
This is the first book I've read by this author, will certainly look up more.

3.5 Sexy Hot Stars
I have purchased a few books by this author based on their descriptions, but this is the first time I've actually read her. I really liked this book. It was cute, quick to read and I liked the characters. Jaya's friends Micha and Ricca (what's with those names?) were fun and very different, which I liked about them.
I liked how Alec falling for her, though she was physically different from his usual type, was only an issue because she wasn't a bubble head. His step-mother, Adele, who'd raised him, liked Jaya right off because she was smart, direct and stood up for herself.
I loved how they had sex everywhere they could. Especially when they used it to mark off one of the items on her Thirty List (Things to do before she turned thirty).
Jaya's whole family seemed to be against her, when she spent all her time trying to be what they needed from her. Even he own father fires her in favor or her ex-fiance who was to marry her sister. No one seemed to understand that their actions had an impact on Jaya's self worth. So when Alec came into her life and was a breath of fresh air with his openness about his lack of commitment to anything, Jaya jumped at the chance to try something new.
Little did she know that open, carefree Alec was being just as dishonest with her as everyone but her best friends. But falling for the guy who says he's not staying around too long is a mistake, but she just can't help herself.
They had fun, it was fun to read and ultimately I can't wait to read the story of her two friend. Hopefully Jaya and Alec are just as prominent in their stories as they where in hers.

Picture 'Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants' in high heels. This is the beginning of a cute series about a trio of best friends on the search for their futures. Our heroine is fired from her job. It's the family business. Dad fires her while ex-fiancé looks on. (BTW ex-fiancé is marring her sister.) So what's a jobless, family-less, fiancé-less girl to do? By a magic pair of shoes for 3 thousand dollars, drink lots of wine and call her best friends.
BFF's not only help her with the wine and console her, but they also offer to split the cost of the shoes. THAT'S what friends are for.
Now our heroine must pick herself up and follow her dreams to start her own business. If only our hero can help, instead of hinder.
Good story with cute characters.

First time "reading" anything by this author. This is the audiobook version. It was cute, but very predictable. I figured the subplot in regards to the family business way too early. I did like the banter between the couple.

This book was ok. It was written well and had a decent story, but I had a hard time liking or connecting to the characters so I skimmed through a good portion of it. I felt the heroine was too much of a pushover when it came to the important matters, but had no problem sticking up for herself when the time did not warrant it. The hero lies about his identity for most of the book, which is definitely not my favorite theme. As far as secondary characters, I hated them even more. There is one character who somewhat gets a redemption, but they've been such an asshole leading up to that moment that it seems almost flippant. I powered through this only because I really wanted the heroine to just go batshit crazy on everyone for everything she was put through, but the ending was rather predictable and tame. I never felt that "gotcha!" moment, more like quiet acceptance.

I am not a prude, but the plot of this book seems to be all about sex and very little plot aside from that.
Jaya Trudeaux is fired from her family's event planning firm when she defies her father and, more importantly, he ex-fiance who's marrying her looks-enough-like-her-that-people-mistake-them-for-twins sister in two weeks. Crying about being fired, Jaya storms into an elevator and straight into the arms of Alec (I forget his last name), who holds and comforts her.
Alec is in town to help resolve a family issue - with his father's family, which includes his fiercely devoted step-mother and his flaky half-brother. (No clue what happened to his father; I assume he's dead, but the author never really said. He doesn't like people to know who his father is, so he always uses his mother's surname.) He has no interest in getting involved with this sexy woman, but when she and her friends show up at one of his family's night clubs where he's acting as manager, he hits on her and they end up having a wild night of sex.
During that night, she asks him to be her date for her sister's wedding and because he can't resist her, he says yes. Most of the rest of the book is descriptions of where and how they have sex, including a creepy scene where he arranges for her doorman (whom she's had fantasies about) to join in, but ends up watching and masturbating when Jaya decides she really doesn't want a threesome.
Alec stands her up for her sister's wedding due to a family crisis (he at least shows up to tell her he can't go with her) and when he shows up a few hours later, Jaya knows he's lied about who his family is and dumps him on the spot.
The HEA ending was unbelievable, but at least they didn't have wild sex in front of all their friends and family.

My first read from this author, and I am certtainly intrigued to read more of her work. This book was really the total package. It had a sweet love story going on in the heads of Jaya and Alec. There were plenty of funny exchanges that I was laughing at throughout the story. It had some sibling rivalry and family tension, great frienships, and best of all some super hot love scenes. The author really out did her self. The love scenes were both extremely sensual, erotic, and a few times explicit. I'll leave two words to look forward to "CLOSET" and "BALCONY". You catch the meanings of these once you delve into this book. This was a fantastic read, and I can't wait to read more from this author.

4.5 stars. This book starts off with a bang and sucks you right in. I liked Jaya and Alec from the start, and oh boy did I love Jaya's best friends, Micha and Ricca! They're a total hoot, and I laughed out loud many times while reading this book. This is another that could make a really good romantic comedy. And oh man, was the sex ever *scorching*! These two have amazing chemistry and I was rooting for them the entire time. A bang-up read.

I really liked Sexy in Stilettos by Nana Malone. The story was fun, sexy, had a little mystery and danger and well developed and likable characters. I listened to the audio version and the narrator was excellent. Great at making each character's voice unique and read at a smooth pace with just the right amount of emotion when called for. I'm definitely interested in more from this author. 4.5 stars.

Rather hot, this romance is remarkably well written.
Worthy of fairy tale, the plot worked its magic on me. I would have asked for more if there had been additional pages...
First, there is full of villains: a beautiful mean sister who betrayed Jaya by stealing her former boyfriend. An ex lover, fickle, manipulative and careerist who wants to destroy the lovely Princess. A father unable to show and express his feelings without beeing harsh. A wicked lonely witch, more impressive than truly evil, who will reveal herself as a powerful ally.
Then, there are the good fairies... In this case, Jaya's best girlfriends with sassy mouth like in "sex in the city". After all the catastrophes in Jaya life, they gently pushed her away from self pity by daring her to loosen up.
Finally, Prince Charming Alec who is supposed to be broke but obviously is an heir with important connections. As we are in the 21st century, Mr. Charming is also an expert in fantasies and various positions of the Kama Sutra to make sure that the encounters between himself and Jaya will directly drive them to the seventh heaven.
Jaya is an independant, modern and courageous princess even if she has a compulsive need to control everything. The author described her as a normal every day woman with which the female readers can relate to and not a princess locked in an ivory tower. So, her fragility and her faults become touching and you can not stop yourself for rooting for her.
While I am painting the story in gently mocking tone, I really enjoyed reading this novel.
Like a walk through a haunted house, the reader knows that problems will occur on the road but at the end of the trip, he has had fun palpitations through the path taken. Emotions are light, spicy, subtle, pictorial and I was embarked on a beautiful love adventure.
Very cool and fresh, I really liked it.

Badly in need of an editor/proofreader. This story was riddled with errors, from poor punctuation and word choice to misspelled celebrities: one minor character was obsessed with "Patsy Klein." I was actually confused by that at first--until I realized the author probably meant the famous singer Patsy Cline. (Which is still a throwaway detail that wouldn't really matter if that obsession weren't how his brother the hero found him when he was in hiding, which was strange and unsatisfying because it wasn't told to the readers ahead of time.)
Beyond the lacking presentation, did I like the story? Not really. The characters weren't solidly constructed, everyone's wishy-washy in their traits. The heroine is a pushover when confronted in person about most things but when alone is doggedly determined to prove she's not a failure, even to the point of making unwise life decisions. The hero is a committment-phobe in most areas of his life but is unswervingly loyal and obedient to his stepmother (who is actually a snarky treasure and probably the best thing about this book.) The heroine's father is Comically Awful at the start and gets an upgrade at the end to Tragically Misunderstood, which was a pseudo-heel-face turn that was unbelievable and wholly undeserved. The heroine's sister is a total bitch who stole her fiance but also wants her to be at the wedding and be supportive. (Like, it takes two people to cheat. If your sister and your fiance knowingly slept together, they're both equally at fault, you can't hate him for it but forgive her. Not if you want me to respect your intelligence, anyway.)
I never felt much chemistry between the leads, and I didn't really think they were falling in love, just having lots of sex. The happy ending resolution jumps forward past six months of no-contact pining and concludes with a marriage proposal, and I just didn't buy it.

Alec and Jaya...Book 1 in the Stiletto series.
I really loved this couple the ode of opposites attract were really true in their case. Alec footless, fancy free and running from who he really is. Jaya OCD, list Queen, trying to get approvals.
An unlikely pair more like oil and water but were totally sun, moon and stars. Alec and Jaya needed to let the other in, they were great together physically like spontaneous combustion. But heart wise they were tighter than Fort Knox. Heartache and pain causes people to withdraw behind a protective wall so high that they miss the one thing that can set them free to be amongst the land of the free and living.
Reading about these two broke my heart because both scared and missing out on life, basically just existing. But love has a way of turning everything upside down. For Alec and Jaya that is what happened to them. The unexpected became the expected and these two got the love they so rightly deserve with each other.
That bum derelict of an ex-fiancé got his just rewards, her conniving sister is saddled with him since she married him. Jaya and her father maybe on a road to recovery with their relationship. And Alec and Jaya got their HEA :-)

Maybe the author has got a great marketing angle or something, but I heard about this book on Goodreads, on Facebook and on Twitter all before it came out. She had a FB party so I hopped on over and grabbed myself a free copy.
I really liked it. The heroine, Jaya has this charming way about her. And the friendships seemed real. I can see me and my girlfriends gabbing like that. The author has a way with dialogue. The hero, Alec seems a little like a jerk in the beginning, but you warm to him as you go on. He doesn't do anything overt, but maybe I just don't like that kind of cocky, over-confident guy. Turns out he's quite fun.
It was a good read and I was happy to find out this was going to be a series. I'll be looking out for more from this series in the future.

I'm so glad I picked this one up. I became a fan of Nana Malone after Reluctant Protector. I'm so glad I got in on the free party and picked this one up. Jaya was funny and charming and Alec is that guy we all fantasize about. You know, the super sexy guy your mother told you to stay away from? It's a light sassy read. Though you can see a hint of the author's romantic suspense roots with one of the side story lines. I think this is another series so count me in as a fan.

This was the last story in the Sugar and Sin box set. It was also good. It was the love story of Alec and Jaya.. When they first met Jaya thought Alec was a bartender. Little did she know his family owned the hotel the bar was in. Jaya loved her lists and Alec didn't , but through their ups and downs they can together and fell in love. a good read

I enjoyed the characters and their relationship growing.
The story was engaging and incredibly sexy.
If you like sex scenes there are plenty and they are well written. They also don't over power the storylines.

This was too instalove for me. The couple meet and they spend two weeks having sex. Then she finds out that he didn't tell her that he was rich and she gets mad. 6 months later they meet again at an event and he proposed to her. If you want a book without a plot where the only thing that happens is the couple having sex then this is for you.

The story line of Alec and Jaya was an amazing one but over run with (IMO) just to much sex. Found my self re reading in several places to understand what was being said. This was my book clubs BOM for September this was my first read by this author.

This was well-written and fun to read. The characters were true to life, and the dialogue is wonderful. Yes, we talk like this! The sex was incredibly hot, and well-described. Very enjoyable.

I really love Jaya!! Her spirit it so heartwarming and inspirational!! But opposites do definitely attract. As is proof with Alec. They really are different but mesh so well. I love how the story ends!!

Jaya and Alex definitely had chemistry! I love how Alex was pushing Jaya out of her comfort zone. They work really great together! They knew exactly what the other wanted! It was the perfect pairing! Can't wait to read more of this series! ❤👠

It was a nice and somewhat funny story, I enjoyed it, but so much of it didn't make sense, especially the ending, and it really hurt my enjoyment.

From the get-go, the banter was direct and feisty which I love, although I’m not sure how often that would happen in real life 😂
Anyway, where was the editor? The typos were very evident and very frequent throughout the book, which made the reading not flow as it could have.
Despite them choosing the most ‘interesting’ times to have sex, I appreciate the author’s incorporation of safe sex practices which we sometimes don’t see in smutty books.

Can we please have more Adele in our lives?
Now, let’s be real for a moment—yes, you’ll have to suspend some disbelief here. A ten-day fling that turns into forever? Sure. But hey, if you’re into romance, you already knew that was coming. My review:
Sexy in Stilettos is the first book of Nana Malone what I’ve read. It is very easy to read and the novel itself is not very long, so it took me couple of hours from the beginning to an end. Sexy in Stilettos is well-written romance, where you can laugh a lot.
Regarding the plot:
Jaya has a difficult event to go to – her sister is marrying Jaya’s ex-fiancee. She does not exactly know what to do, because she has to go to the wedding, but really it is the last event she wants to join. Jaya find a date for the wedding. Alec is very different from Jaya, but they are drawn to each other.
The strong side of Sexy in Stilettos was the dialogue. It was funny, quirky and sometimes too much from Jaya’s side, but it did not feel awkward. The plot is not very complicated, but it has its surprises and it was well written.
Regarding the characters:
Jaya was likable, sassy and quite easy to relate to. There were times, when I was annoyed by that she talked too much, tried to organize everything and had difficulties of letting go of her over-planned life, but it fit to her character. When she meets Alec, she is confused by him. Alec is not looking for commitment, he likes to be his own, to have his freedom. Alec is not over-organized as Jaya and he is acting like a jerk in the beginning, but the more time goes by, the more they are attracted to each other.
Generally:
Sexy in Stilettos was a fun read and it is a perfect summer read. It’s easy funny and has characters you can relate to. Definitely for romance lovers!
