True love never grows old but honesty is always the best policy. 20 years ago, Lauren broke Hunter's heart. With no real explanation, Lauren left. Now all Lauren does is work, work and work. Hunter does have a social life but has renounced relationships. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find out their true feelings. Like all her other books, I was hooked from the start. I'm already looking forward to part 3 of the Dallin series.
As I've read several of Moll's books including one of her Cade Brogan books, I must say, that The Preacher's Daughter was Moll's best work yet. I found it was fleshed out more thoroughly and it allowed us to warm up and get to know the characters more intimately. This was an insta-love story, but to be fair, the two protags had already been in a romantic relationship years before, so maybe not so much insta-love, but more of a rekindling kind of story. There was some action, suspense, a 'who-dunnit' moment, and sexual tension followed by sweet sex, and lots of love.
I love this couple and I love KA Moll’s writing. The heartache and heartbreak that flows through Hunter’s blood on daily basis keeps her steady on her job as a firefighter. Lauren is returning to her hometown to settle her grandmother’s estate while her parents are stuck out at sea. The dilapidated hotel she is staying at suffers a fire. As she is called to leave the hotel fast, Lauren gets her purse, her phone and changes her clothes. But as she gets out in the hallway. She starts to a inhale too much smoke and passes out. Guess who is the firefighter who saves her. Hunter! The one she hurt so long ago. This is where the talent of K.A. Moll takes place. The story she weaves is exciting and heartwarming. I just loved this writer.
This is a reread for me! The first time, I rated it but didn't write a review. You know I love it since I reread it. This is a gorgeous second chance love story. Hunter and Lauren met at the ages of 12 and 14 and fell in love with big plans of Hunter moving from Dallin, Utah to San Franscico while Lauren went to medical school. But, after Lauren heard bad things about how lesbians would be treated, she broke it off with Hunter. Now 22 years later Lauren comes home to take care of funeral arrangements for her grandmother. After a fire which she's rescued by firefighter Hunter, things are rectified, slowly. I really love this book! 5 stars!!
This was a very good book. I enjoyed reading it. Enjoyed the two MCs Hunter and Lauren. It was a reawakening of a 20 year old relationship. Lauren finally understanding what she needed to have a happy life with Hunter. Hunter finally acknowledging her wants and needs to have Lauren in her life and what to do and to keep her in her life forever. I hope there is another book in the Dallin series.
K.A.Moll writes about love that is rooted at the soul level. This story is about that kind of love and how life will always take you back to where you need to be. This is my second reading of the story and it was just as beautiful as the first time….
Hunter Morgan was a Blackhawk pilot in Afghanistan. She's returned home and joined the fire department in her small town. She has secrets and baggage.
Dr. Lauren "Renny" Briscoll is a hugely successful physician in San Francisco, specializing in geriatrics.
Lauren and Hunter were lovers back in the day, but through a series of events, they split up and Hunter joined the Army and Lauren went to medical school.
When Lauren is called back to her small town 20 years later to attend to her grandmother's funeral arrangements, a fire brings her back together with Hunter.
This is a story of second chances, personal and emotional baggage and fairly complex characters, but don't let that chase you away from the story. Moll writes these characters' stories so well that you'll find it hard to put this book down. So highly recommended!
I really enjoyed book #2 in the Dallin series, just as much as book #1. Both of these stories of finding your long lost 1st love were so beautiful and captivating to read. Really enjoying them and looking forward to the next. I am now "following" K. A. Moll.
I read this book in one afternoon. It was so good! It's full of love, some angst, and some stubborn women, but in good way. But the love and emotions that lasts through the years is undeniable.
Lauren is a busy doctor with a growing practice. After learning from her father that her only grandparent had died, she takes time off of work to go back home. Back at home is the only woman she ever really cared for, who is waiting for her, Hunter.
They have a past. Hunter has questions. She never really understood why Laura just walked away from her all those years ago, but even after all that time apart, there was still something like a fire and an attraction, a pull between them.
There is some action to keep you at the edge of your sit, but at the heart of the book is the love Hunter and Lauren share ,it was nice to see all the characters from the first book all add to the story line.
Hunter loved Laura but was afraid of being hurt again. She was unable to pick up the pieces, so she pushed to try to see if that would take away the longing her heart felt every time Laura was near her. Something kept pulling them together .
The book pulled me in right away , I loved how the story came together in love and Laura and Hunter found the family and love to complete there Journey.
I would like to thank the author K.A. Moll for an arc of the book it was simply wonderful. 5 stars
18 years old, preset feelings and she knows she is right! Not!
Lauren has always wanted to be a doctor and nothing/no body was going to get in her way. No matter that she broke her girl friends heart to pieces or so she thought. 22 years later she is very, very lonely and there is only one person who could show her the correct way to love again or so she hoped. Now comes the task of convincing Hunter her former girlfriend she had/has changed. Funny thing about Hunter, Hunter survived a helicopter incident that left a soldier dead and in her nightmares she calls out for Lauren for help. Enjoy!
I didnt hate it, the premise was good second chance romance, I just couldn't really connect with it and got a bit frustrated. Lauren returns to deal with her Grandmothers remains/will, her hotel burns down because of arson and she is rescued by her high school gf she broke up with. Neither having got over the other. They go from its never going to happen to discussing when they can sleep with each other in the span of a page or two. The last half was better and the arson storyline is very anticlimactic and barely mentioned.
A wonderful book to read. How communicate is key to everything. Hunter thought that Lauren was embarrassed of her and that she was not smart enough to be with her, plus she thought that she also was cheating on her. Lauren had moved away to be come a Dr, but went back to Utah to try and find Hunter but nobody would tell her where she had gone. A very twenty years Lauren returns to Utah to take care of her deceased grandma's affair. When things happen the two are reunited but with a flare.
Dr. Lauren Briscoll returns to handle her grandmother’s death and estate. When the hotel she’s in catches on fire her first night in town she’s rescued by her high school girlfriend, Hunter Morgan. Hunter has retired from the Army and is now a firefighter suffering from PTSD. Both are still in love with each other but reuniting will be neigh impossible. An exciting second chance romance with strong women characters.
I need to say that this is my first read of K.A. Moll and certainly won’t be the last! I was enthralled from the first page right to the last. There is just the perfect balance between anxiety, love and giggles with great supporting characters. It is so well written and I found only two typos in the entire book! I loved it, thank you Ms. Moll for writing it.
3.5 stars for the second in the Dallin series. This is an enjoyable fast listen. I liked the characters and thought the pace was good. Thank you to the author for the code for a free audio book. I am not a fan of this narrator, partially because the character voices are too similar, in some cases identical, making it hard to distinguish between characters.
A beautiful story about two people who had been each other’s first loves. Miscommunication tore them apart but eventually they reconnect and find their forever.
This story is a nice follow up book for this series. It offers a similar concept as the first one with coinciding in circumstances & scenarios that forms the back story.
K.A. Moll has done more than create incredible characters. She has created characters one would want to be their friend. Keegan, Willow, Hunter and Lauren are all terrific women. This reader wanted an invitation to the wedding!
I have enjoyed the first 2 books. I love the story line of the past 2 loves finding each other again. Renny and Hunter are great. I enjoyed how all the characters know each other. I am ready for thr next one.
I like Moll’s characters and overall story which I’d give 4 stars. However, there are a number of confusing transitions throughout the book which dropped this to 3 stars.
