Robbie Mahair

Robbie Mahair writes code and books. He also thinks his bio shouldn't be written in the third person, since he's writing it about myself, so I've decided to stop doing that.

By day I'm a software developer. By night (and, if I'm being honest, by very early morning) I write fiction. I'm also a father of four, a husband of one, and frequently quite sleepy. I live in Madison, Wisconsin. I follow Jesus.

Orc Road Trip is my first and only (self-)published novel to date. Planned future works include a sequel to Orc Road Trip as well as a collection of fictional short stories I'm tentatively calling "Stories Not from the Bible", which will explore the stories or characters in the Bible that we are only given a small glimpse of.

Readers’ Comments
“It was funny when Donny hid under the sheet. I do that when it’s time for school. I think the person who did the drawings is very good. I laughed when I saw how the donkey got out of bed.” Girl, aged 7
“The children in my class mostly liked this story. A few thought it wasn’t very exciting, but they all through the donkey’s daddy was wise, and everybody loved the illustrations. There is a strong Christian message to the story which, as a teacher, I applaud. A few of the children felt the text could be bigger.” Primary school teacher, aged 55
“It was sort of funny how the donkey was telling a story about a donkey. I thought that was clever. I think this book would be good in a classroom when we study Religious Education. It’s not a particularly fun book, although the beginning was sort of funny.” Girl, aged 8 – with a little help from mum
“Some parts were rhyming and some parts were not. I thought that worked well and was a good idea.” Boy, aged 6 – with a little help from his teacher
“A colourfully illustrated, Christian story for 5 – 8 year olds. The writing style is simple, and worked perfectly for the readership age. Having relatable animal characters works well with this age group; overall, I think this is an excellent book for a school library.” Publisher, aged 54

To Sum It Up:
‘A richly illustrated story with a strong Christian theme. A RED RIBBON WINNER and highly recommended!’ The Wishing Shelf Book Awards
