⚽ From one of football's most influential young agents comes the thrilling debut novel, DEADLINE, a high-octane story set in the world of football and the powerful agents who of control it⚽As transfer deadline day looms, Ander Anaia is about to make the deal of a lifetime. All that stands in his way is a rival agent. Or so he thinks.

David Miller is about to make his first serious deal. A deal that would bring Ander's world crashing down around him. Now Ander must do everything in his power to stop him. Or risk losing his daughter - and the deal.
In this exhilarating debut novel, Erkut Sogut -- one of football's most influential agents, with clients including Mesut Ozil -- uses own his experiences to lift the lid on the murky world of football agenting.
I was gifted a copy of this by the publisher, In preparation for the next book, which I’ve also been gifted and I’ll be honest, from the outset I wasn’t expecting much.
But the old adage of not judging a book by its cover firmly comes in here.
It was really very good. Written by a Turkish football agent, this story delves into and lays bare the influence of Agents in football, then it really ramps up and sensationalises the profession.
The murky world of money, celebrity, football and more is pretty much splattered all over the book by Erkut Sogut. How much is true to life? Who knows. Does it make for a fun , fast, entertaining thriller. It sure does.
Football, money, bad guys, corruption, secret cabals, it’s all here and if you can see past the language barrier, the odd spelling mistake and the slight unpolished feel, then it’s really a little hidden gem.
A really nice thriller with an interesting story and setting. The only downside is there are a lot of grammatical errors and typos but I can appreciate that English is not the authors first language.
I love watching football, but I am most interested in the international matches. The World Cup, The European League, ... I don't want to miss any of those games.
That's why, of course, I was thoroughly fascinated by the blurb of this book and I was thrilled to be able to read and review it.
Money makes the world go round and this is so true. Some people don't have any scruples and they don't think twice when they can offer often large sums to get what they want. Sometimes they add a bunch of lies and a bit of blackmail to the mix or they count on the help of some seedy people to make their point.
Does this only count in the world of football? No! I guess where a lot is at stake some people would try every trick in the book.
I was intrigued by the story and I even googled some things. I was wondering if some of the characters were real or not.
A great thriller and especially the fact that its topic is about football in general was fascinating. Also a short information in advance: The reader cannot always differentiate whether it is based on true facts or not and that's literally what makes DEADLINE so exciting to read! Really Looking forward to the next series.
Lots of spelling mistakes and quite basic writing. I enjoy football but fear I am not the intended audience. Moderately fast-paced. I was going to DNF but thought as it was a quick read, I’d just finish. More of an ‘action’ than a ‘thriller’, in my opinion.
I thought it was a bit far fetched with the story line but you can tell that the world of agency isn’t all the glitz and glamour that it’s made out to be. A lot goes on behind the scenes which the public won’t and will probably never be fully aware of. This takes us into that world in some way shape or form.
A thrilling book centered around football transfers and the somewhat shady world of the football industry. Never read a novel this detailed about football not to talk of a thriller, so this was a good read. Definitely a good debut.
I first came across Erkut Sogut when reading his first (non-fiction) book “How to Become a Football Agent”. Erkut is very good at explaining things in a clear and succinct manner. His debut thriller novel is no different – it is clear that he has done a lot of research.
This novel gives you great insight into the day-to-day of a Football Agent while also keeping you enthralled in the plot. Through the story you learn about the hierarchies within the biggest clubs, as well as their relationship with agents and the media. I was engrossed from beginning to end, as I not only find the subject matter fascinating (the business of football) but the plot could also easily translate into a screenplay for an action packed movie. I also thoroughly enjoyed the conspiratorial nature of the dark side of football, represented by “The Table” – a powerful cabal that control who succeeds in the business.
Erkut is shining a light on nepotism in football and by making Manchester United the focal point of the novel, one cannot help but think that he is alluding to Sir Alex Ferguson – who has been widely criticised for hiring members of his family into high positions at the club.
