Another good story on snowflake creek. This one was about one straight lace travel writer (I had no idea that a travel writer could be a straight lace instead of daring. But oh well) and one heartbroken Hawaiian gal. So, the story went when our h decided to have a heartbreak trip; you know the trip you took to get over your heartbreak?! You see there's a guy who she dated and liked so much but turned out crushing her sister instead and ended up marrying her instead. Yeah, suck a big time! Tired of being a second choice all the time, she decided to go to Snowflake Creek; she heard lots of good things about the place. On the plane, she met a hunky travel writer who wrote only from the perspective of a single traveller. And so she made a deal with his editor that she would accompany him to Snowflake Creek and make him enjoy it from the perspective of a couple. what she didn't expect was that he was a charming gentleman, so sweet and caring and warm with a dashing smile. Would her resolve on not date anytime soon crumbled?

The story was sweet with few romantic gestures in romantic courting. Few splashes of background story, not much but enough to give us a clear picture of both MCs. Few funny banter and plot here and there and some medium-low steams. The thing was the story kinda ended abruptly. Personally, I think that it could be a bit longer and could have a far more interesting ending. But, yeah, I'll take this one just fine.

No virgin
No drama/angst
No cheating, No OW/OM
Medium-low steams
OTT instalove
No kink
Safe read, HEA, epilogue
Overall score: 3.5 instalove stars

I will start off this review by saying that this book probably wasn’t for me, especially since I only picked it up because it was free on the Apple Books app. I was looking for something quick and easy to read, and the premise sounded fun. But even for how short the book was, how simple it was to follow the plot, there was a lot of turbulence reading this book.

First of all, I’m not entirely sure the author did her research regarding Hawai’i. The main character states that “I’ve had too many heartbreaks in that darn place. Maybe on every single island.”—which isn’t possible because two of the eight Hawaiian islands are inaccessible to the public. She also states that Hawai’i experiences “dozens of earthquakes” daily, and while Hawai’i is a high seismic region due to volcanic activity, it’s incredibly presumptuous to think they happen often enough to disrupt one’s makeup routine every day. I don’t think anyone talks about earthquakes in real life with as much frequency as these characters do (and I live in California and work on earthquake-resistant structures).

Second, it’s clear that the author has never flown to or from Hawai’i and her knowledge of geography is questionable. I think the author believes that the islands are just conglomerate; the way she talks about them is that they’re all the same. I presume that the main character and her love interest fly from Hawai’i (Big Island), but most flights to the United States are out of HNL in Oahu. There’s a roundabout explanation about being tired because “[her] hometown isn’t on Big Island” and that “it took a while… to even get to the airport in Honolulu”. We have to assume that she flew from Big Island to the continent, or else there’s no point in mentioning it. Does this character go from her town in Oahu to Honolulu to Big Island? That doesn’t make sense because most flights internationally and to the continent are out of Honolulu. Does the main character live on another island? The amount of island hopping for a flight to Minneapolis seems ridiculous. More likely, it seems like the author has no clue where Honolulu actually is. And if you’re going to write a book about Hawai’i, you should at least get the geography straight (or just mention Honolulu and nothing else).

Perhaps it’s imperative that this woman fly from Big Island in order to have this airplane meet cute, so I will admit this is something that probably won’t bother other readers. The male love interest moves seats around the plane, and the only airline that allows that is Southwest; however, Southwest only has direct flights from the islands along the west coast of the continental US and the only airline with a direct flight from the Islands to Minnesota is Delta, out of Oahu. And even if the main character and her love interest are flying with either of those airlines, neither airline uses glass to serve their alcoholic beverages.

Even with that airplane nonsense, I would be able to suspend reality if the two characters of this love story had any real chemistry. There’s nothing that endears me to either character, and there’s nothing that convinces me that they’re attracted to each other aside from their sudden horniness. For as long as the flight was, there’s so little talked about why they’re interested in each other, just that they are. The dialogue is stilted between these two characters (and literally everyone else the interact with). The male love interest keeps calling the main character “little lady” out of nowhere and makes her look foolish in front of customer service employees at both the car rental kiosk and the hotel.

The book falls apart when one begins to try to apply logic to anything. The flight from Hawai’i has to fly into Minneapolis, and it’s ludicrous to say that an Uber would be more expensive than a Lamborghini rental if her only goal is to leave Hawai’i for whatever random flight she had decided to take to leave, especially since the end destination didn’t matter if her only goal is to leave Hawaii. She could have stayed in the city to figure out her bearings (even if she wanted to go to Snowflake Creek) because it doesn’t make sense for one’s personal safety to get into a car with a stranger that doesn’t take no for an answer, gives you cringy nicknames, and belittles you in front of customer service representatives because of your decision to leave home on an impulse.

I’m aware that the story has to take place in Snowplace Creek, but very little of the book takes place in the town. The town itself isn’t well-described, and if I were supposed to feel nostalgia for it, the author didn’t put enough effort to convince me of the kind of Christmas comfort I’m supposed to feel in July. If it wasn’t for the title of the book, I wouldn’t have even known what month it was to begin with. It seems like that the book really could have taken place anywhere in the world, and the setting has no bearing or importance on the plot: the love interest would have been able to take her out on a date, and they travel together for many months afterward.

The male love interest is relentless and goes out of his way to romance the main character, but buying her a dress for a date night that she didn’t consent to (especially after only knowing her for only a day) is too far out of line. I’m not sure if other readers are into the sort of thing where men just make decisions and women are expected to go along with it, but it also bothered me that he has to confirm he’s straight by forcing himself on the main character and giving her oral under her dress. This scene in particular had no build-up to it either, and it came out of nowhere—a bad attempt at chemistry between two characters that never had it to begin with.

The other “steamy” scenes are fine, except that the author uses the made up portmanteau “dickmatized” a lot—which I had been told is supposed to be dick+hypnotized, but I couldn’t stop thinking that it was dick+traumatized instead, so I’m hoping the author rethinks this if she decides to use the same vernacular in other books.

The conflict is minimal, which I suppose is par for the course for books of this genre; the main character can only find something “real” by becoming a mother and settling down, and assumes that just because everything she had been through with the male love interest is fake because he doesn’t want to stop traveling… even though is literal job is to travel. Most of the conflicts are introduced and resolved every few chapters, like the male love interest’s previous wife, his mom/boss egging him about his work, the inconveniences of unplanned travel, etc.

And in spite of everything I’ve complained about so far, the worst part of this book how the white male love interest so lackadaisically describes native Hawaiians. The male lead asks, “am I going to get my ass whooped by some scary male hula dancers or something? Do you have a secret harem of horny Hawaiian men I should be afraid of?” While all of the other issues could be forgiven, the perpetuation of problematic tropes bothered me too much that the book couldn’t be redeemed for me—and this specifically is why I have to give this a 1-star rating.

ANOTHER SNOWFLAKE CREEK ROMANCE!!!!

 photo eb929ab0-0ae8-0132-7078-0add9426c766.gif

Honestly... if a place like this doesn't exist yet... someone could make a lot of money. Imagine your favorite Christmas movie... How it looks... How it sounds... Now imagine how it would smell. Now sprinkle it with Magic. That is Snowflake Creek.

This addition to Snowflake Creek does not disappoint! I literally RAN to get it once I knew it was out, and did NOTHING but read... Romantic, Hilarious, Steamy... literally laughing out loud and the next chapter with tears running down my face. One of the best romantic comedies Olivia Noble has written.

Lani takes a random plane and ends up next to a total stranger. Who is going to the same magical town that she is headed to... The whirlwind romance that follows leaves you breathless and wanting more .. Following Teddy and Lani around the world.

This novel was short and sweet, but I can totally see this becoming a novel of its own. Lani and Teddy Explore The World. lol. What happened before that final scene (I won't give it away :) You know they had many adventures before THE CAMEL STORY, which we ALL want! :)

This one was so good, it reminded me again of why I LOVE her novels. Now I'm going back to reread them all. Not many Authors are good enough for a reread. Olivia Noble is.

Wrapping up this series with a perfect little bow.
Glad Lani finally got her happy ending and that Skye finally had some answers about Sam.
This book was pretty fast paced in my opinion as far as how the relationship between Lani & Teddy went, but I guess that’s what happens to ya when you get to Snowflake Creek! Anyways, when Teddy’s mom mentioned Teddy’s wife I felt so bad for Lani because she didn’t want to deal with that kinda thing based on past relationships, but I’m so glad that Teddy clarified the situation and how they had an understanding and made up afterwards. Had high hopes until the last chapter when things seemed rocky, but nonetheless everything worked out.

What a fun little read.

Everyone's dream of finding that perfect someone and travelling the globe ( on some one else's tab). Has Hallmark turned this into a movie yet?

Christmas in July is the 6th book in the Snowflake Creek series, I did read it as a standalone book, so you can and it does complete this book.

Leilani comes from a family native to Hawaii. Somehow, she keeps finding all the wrong guys. Her last "date" was her twin sister's new boyfriend who mistook her for her sister. She packed her bags and left the island for the small town of Snowflake Creek, Minnesota where they are celebrating Christmas all year long but now there is a festival for Christmas in July. On the plane she meets Teddy who is a world hopping travel writer. He just did an article about Hawaii and now he is also going to Snowflake Creek.

Due to a car rental issue and a hotel issue, Leilani winds up depending on traveling and rooming with Teddy. A friendship grows into more. Can they make it when they leave their little bubble in Minnesota?

Who knows how this got on my reading list... I must put them on on my sleep!!

This book was a short and sweet read, (over within a few hours sadly) with a wee bit of spice! Doesn't everyone have a fantasy of traveling with the ones they love?

Going on this world wind adventure from Christmas in July to Christmas in December with Leilei and Teddy makes you want to visit all those places too.

Who doesn't love a hot, handsome, rich man!?

Spicy: 🌶

Read it again: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Thanks for writing!!!

Love K x ❤️ 💋

Everything about this book is just so unrealistic. It’s honestly so disappointing. Like I can excuse the “coincidences” that brought them to be together, but after that.. it’s too far from reality. Like they travel the world together after knowing each other for 2 days and then after 6 months she expects him to put a baby in her and settle down?? And I just think it’s funny that the second she starts venting this to her sister, he shows up from across the world with a minivan, a positive pregnancy test, and his mom who turned out not to be a bitch? Like what?

Cute Enough to Finish Reading

It’s a short book so I finished it but I had to stop to see if it was written by an old man. The way the love scenes are written and the fact that the male main character refers to the female main character as “little lady” made me wonder about the writer! The idea of the story is fun and the characters are cute, if a bit one dimensional. I recommend it if you’re looking for a quick, cute read.

Okay, this was so good, and I’ve honestly never seen it talked about!
Christmas In July by Olivia Noble was a quick, sweet and spicy read that had me smiling from start to finish.
Leilani and Theo are so cute, from the moment they met you could feel their chemistry and what follows is falling in love while travelling the world, yes please!
There were a few heavy moments, one in particular I wish we got more backstory of, but overall this was a super lighthearted read!

🎄 Still chasing my 2025 reading goal, and this Snowflake Creek story was the perfect cozy detour. Lani leaves Hawaii on a whim, meets Theo (a drop‑dead gorgeous travel writer) on the plane, and fate throws them together with a rental car + one bed during a Christmas in July festival. Insta‑Love, Meet Cute, and all the feels packed into a short read.

A very quick but unrealistic book

Took me lesson an hour and 1⁄2 to read this book. I like the characters but it just seem to rush to pat into quick. I believe you can fall in love at 1st sight But this was more I don't know Satisfying or sexual need maybe. I guess they had a connection but it wasn't told in the book you had to Think that it happen. It was implied not written.

Got about half way through the book and just couldn’t do it anymore. The premise sounded kind of cute but the writing was so, so off. Cheesy, corny…he calls her “little lady” from their first meeting- I wanted to slap the book shut every time he said it (and it was A LOT), so I figured the best thing to do was shut it for good.

I didn’t realize how short this story was but it was really fun to read! I also didn’t realize it was book 6 until I was in the middle of it. Thankfully it could be read as a standalone. I’m gonna have to read the other books in the series now 😁

This book was so boring that I took a few days to finish it. The story had no sense of direction, just complaints, travel and more complaints by the MFC and the MMC had no goals. I will not be reading any more in this series.
