As Sergeant of Arms for the Demon Dawgs, I’m responsible for the safety of all its members. When I receive two calls for help from club women, I have to make a choice. When I choose to save the life of my President’s Old Lady over helping a former bunny with car trouble, I think I’ve made the right choice. However, when the bunny winds up dead, the cops arrest me for her murder. Good thing my President has my back.

As a criminal defense lawyer, I have one rule about my clients. Never date them. Since most of them are criminals, I find it an easy rule to follow. However, when Dante, the President of the Demon Dawgs, hires me to defend his SOA against murder charges, I find my resolve wavering. After all, how many women can resist a man covered in muscles and oozing sex appeal like an expensive cologne?Author’s These books contain mature themes and possible triggers. Each book covers the developing relationship between its protagonists, each with a HEA. While each novel ends our focus on the protagonists, the novels are by no means the end of the story for the club. Each novel contains a lead-in for the next novel. Betrayal in the clubhouse makes for a dangerous story.
Chaos has his eyes on the lawyer from Tally’s book, and his perfect chance comes in the form of him being arrested for a murder. This another instalove romance that has a few bumps in the road to their HEA.
Evie and Chaos are perfect together and I loved the pairing so much.
This is the second story in the Demon Dawgs MC series. I personally DO NOT consider this to be a STAND-ALONE read. I highly recommend that these be read in series’ date order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers. There are multiple reoccurring characters, concurrent / consecutive timelines and overarching themes that are built from the foundation laid by the first story. There are also a lot of details that occurred previously that would be lost, as they cannot be adequately explained within another story.
** There are multiple scenes, themes and references to subjects that will be difficult for sensitive readers. These include abduction, enslavement, rape and human trafficking. A high-level list is included below. **
— Although I try to watch it, if you have not read this (or the previous story in the series), the following may contain spoilers. —
I so wanted to give this story 5 stars, but I just couldn’t based on the issues I found, which are recapped below. It just needs a good edit to catch some of the things that would take it from a good story to a great one. The characters are interesting, there is a nice storyline / plot as well as action, intrigue and chemistry.
The story universe has a few places that could do with some more details (such as the general layout of the main clubhouse room - does the bar sit in the middle, against the wall, is there a wall of tvs, etc., what color, specific furnishings, etc. does Chaos have in his room), but overall, it is defined well enough for a visual. Right now I know Chaos’ room has a bed, a shower and a nightstand as the bedroom scenes involve a lot of 🔥 🥰.
Although I did find how quick Evie and Chaos start making out really strange. From what I can recall, the two of them didn’t really have much, or any, interaction during the first story. Then Evie is hired as Chaos’ defense attorney when he is arrested for murder. Then as soon as he is released, Chaos hugs her to his side (can understand this - excited to have that over and she just got him out), but then when Dante kisses Tally goodbye, Chaos does the same with Evie … uh? This doesn’t make sense to me given either of their characters, but especially given Evie’s background, profession, reputation, etc. It just doesn’t feel right and should not be how they have their first kiss.
I mention the following for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow. There are a lot of grammatical errors between the story and other sections, fortunately they are not difficult to interpret, there are just a lot of them. These include incorrect word choice, typos, incorrect punctuation, incorrect word tense, extra inserted words and missing words, and inconsistent formatting in regards to possessive words ending in ‘s’. I uploaded my notes to goodreads for anyone interested.
⛔️ Story contains references to, or scenes detailing, subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some, including, but not limited to: adult language; derogatory terms; mental health challenges with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, PTSD, etc.; steamy adult intimate scenes with elements of BDSM including dominance, submission, spanking for punishment and pleasure, etc.; violence throughout typical of the outlaw MC genre such as kidnapping / abduction, murder / death, torture, assault, rape, fighting, human trafficking, enslavement, blackmail, as well as the mental, physical and sexual abuse of adults, etc.
In K.L. Barstow’s second installment of her Demon Dawgs MC series entitled Chaos’ Crime, readers get an in-depth view into the life of Mason “Chaos” Bender, the Sergeant of Arms, for the Demon Dawgs San Diego chapter. Chaos is accused of murdering a former bunny, Deborah “Debbie” Olson and is arrested. That’s when Evie Buchanon enters the scene. She is a defense attorney hired by the club president, Dante. Once they meet, it is evident that there is more than an instant attraction. Her job is to clear him of these charges and she does. But there is a mystery around Chaos as someone is trying to get rid of him and harm or destroy this chapter. Why? Who? How far will they go? Evie joins forces with the Demon Dawgs to ferret out the answers to these questions.
Ms. Barstow, once again, does a remarkable job with this suspenseful biker romance. I found this book to be a captivating quick read capturing the magnetism of love, trust, and betrayal. Ms. Barstow possess a remarkable skill of creating diverse and appealing characters. The main characters have chemistry between them. Even though this book focuses on Chaos and Evie, Ms. Barstow enhances it with continuing the stories of the main characters from the first book. Additionally, she introduces new secondary characters that pique readers’ interest and hopefully will be seen more of in subsequent books. This book is well-written with strong dialog and descriptive scenes lending credibility to this HEA romance.
In Chaos's Crime you get a better look into Mason aka Chaos. When things go south Dante hires Evie to help smooth things out and keep Chaos out of jail. Things certainly heat up more than just a attorney client relationship. Once Evie thinks her job is done there is someone else out there trying to make sure that Chaos stays in trouble. Now her job isnt to keep him out of jail, its to find out just who wants these Demon Dawgs under.
Demon Dawgs MC has some BDSM as well as some DV scenes that are not intended for the faint of heart. I would suggest reading the TW before diving into this club.
Ok... after the first book, Dante's Demons, I was invested. But now I see this author ends the second book with a cliff hanger also! I feel like I am picking up a pattern. Book 2 is about Chaos and Evie, polar opposites that fit perfectly together. The author has kept the action and spicy at a nice level and the writing style makes it easy to read.. Also so far as we get a snippet of each characters story it stay with the broader story of the motorcycle club and how they are evolving. These are fast reads which I appreciate.
Really wow on another amazing story. Evie is not only a great defense attorney, but she has some really great moves on the bar guys. Chaos found a warrior when he chose Evie as his partner for life. Poor Caitlyn can't seem to catch a break, but she is an amazingly strong and resilient young woman. I really despise disgusting pigs that think it's okay to kidnap and sell human beings for money and really hoping karma strikes in the next story. Happy reading.
This series just keeps impressing me. Loved the characters and the plot kept me all evening with my iPad in hand and head buried in this story. Chaos meets his mate who is an attorney. This plot has lots of twists and turns and just as I think I know what is going to happen, something else happens. Highly recommend this story. HEA, No cheating, no cliffhanger. There is a lead-in to book 3. Enjoy.
Chaos's Crime continued where Dante's Demons ended. I really enjoyed Evie and Chaos's story, it was full of drama, angst, insta attraction and love, sexy times, bad guys that keep popping up like cockroaches, interesting characters that might not always make the best choices but do their best to make up for their mistakes. So ready to read Scar's secret
Every time I think things are about to be calm for the Demon Dawgs, another betrayal situation pops up. I can't wait till they come face to face with Roadkill. Chaos and his friends are in trouble every step of the way. I'm excited to see what drama unfolds in the next book.
Book was good. Shaved off a star because author obviously injected personal politics. Authors of course have their own feelings about things but no one should feel judged when reading fiction. Especially a book that has domestic discipline in it, which is routinely judged by those who don't understand it or agree with it. Just don't. Because of this, a series I enjoy will not be one I buy.
OMG I’m so loving this series ❤️❤️❤️ how much action can you stand. This story of Chaos and Evie is absolutely epic. Not a dull moment throughout this book. 100% recommend this book to everyone ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I really love the story line and the characters. The only problem I have is the way some "romantic scenes" are written. The action, twists, turns, love, and loyalty is what is keeping me reading.
My favorite character in this book is Benjamin Solon aka Benji. Evie and Chaos got together because of a set up by the bad guys but they got through it. It is a really good book.
This is another great book by K. L. Barstow. Eve and Chaos continue to take us on the ride we started in the first book with Dante and Tally. I'm ready for the next in this series.
I chose this rating because the author deserves it. Tells about another side of life we all would find hard to otherwise understand. Even though my ire rises due to the words Old Lady and punishment. I would recommend to anyone.
Its Coas book as hes arrested by the police and he hires Evie to help. But thing go crazy at the club as old enemy turn up and they will have to fight to survive.
This book is full of intrigue, suspense, twists and turns. Chaos is accused of murder. Evie is kidnapped, others go missing, a couple guys from another club shows up.
