This was so adorable! I wish we got to know just a bit more about the characters tho, but oh well what do you expect from a manga with 6 chapters... I like that we as the readers and the characters themselves got to know each other more in the bonus chapters tho!
Also yes before anyone points it out... I did in fact start reading this because I saw it has cute dogs in it. Sue me, I'd read anything for some cute dogs.

pure fluff low angst!!! what a perfect palette cleanser—the couple are so awkwardly adorable and cotton candy the puppy was just 🥺

not much substance to this manga but the summary and length makes it very clear that the plot was going to be fast paced

What can I say, I'm easy to please: a cute, sweet romance and a puppy named Cotton Candy make this right up my alley. The reincarnation angle was a little weird and there are elements of the resolution of it that don't quite work, but on the whole this was a nice little treat.

this one is a bit weird for me: a romance involving a reincarnated puppy from long ago. it just doesn’t sit right with me. if i take the reincarnation away, it reads pretty cute, even if the flow is off.

i don’t know…this one was okay, but very…weird, lol.

Well...this was disappointing. Puppy Love started off pretty strong in my opinion but I felt like the plot quickly lost momentum. I originally liked the pace of the characters realizing their feelings for each other but it went from slow burn to insta omg I love you real quick.

This was so cute.

It's not the best or most carefully constructed story; there's a lot that isn't fully fleshed out, with some ideas that don't particularly go anywhere, and some of the chapter transitions are abruptly chopped up. But I just...had fun reading. It's sweet and charming and the characters are adorable. What's not to like?

The setup is a little bit confusing, since the summary gives the impression that Hoshi, the pet shop worker, is currently some sort of dog shapeshifter. That could've been interesting, too, but it's actually a reincarnation/memory of former lives scenario. Hoshi is a regular (more or less) guy who somehow still has a connection to his past life as a dog, when he was rescued by an energetic and caring boy who smells exactly like Inukai - a heavily stressed, overworked salaryman who comes to the pet shop to look at the puppies.

Hoshi latches onto Inukai, befriending him and even moving into his apartment to cook and clean for him as a way to repay what Inukai had done for him in the past. And Inukai...doesn't mind.

He does think Hoshi is a little bit weird, talking about how he used to be a dog, but he likes this sweet, friendly, admittedly kind of doglike guy, and having someone in his house to greet him at the end of his long work days is just...really, really nice. Plus that initial friendship connection has been rapidly turning into something a lot more tender, at least on Inukai's end.

So when new revelations come to light and Hoshi abruptly moves out, Inukai is devastated. And then the dog he'd adopted from Hoshi's shop gets sick, and everything is terrible again, and he doesn't know who to turn to if Hoshi won't talk to him anymore...

Maybe this section can read as overdramatic for some, but I loved it. I definitely feel the whole overworked salaryman thing, where as a grown man making his own way in the world, he's just lonely. (I also loved the scene where he burst out crying at work because the people in his new job actually appreciated him and his work. I relate. Boy do I relate.)

The connection between Inukai and Hoshi is subtle and sweet and really worked for me. And I loved Inukai's dog, Cotton Candy, and all his hilarious facial expressions. (Although if they have to board the dog every time they have intimate time, that'll be...uh...difficult? Maybe they were just doing that for their first time, so they could be fully comfortable getting used to each other and their new dynamic.)

The visit to Inukai's grandfather's hometown was also sweet; it could've been expanded on a bit more, but I liked the little hints of messages about fate and choice and finding happiness where you're not expecting it. This was just a nice, heartwarming, funny little story that did exactly what it's meant to: cheered me up at the end of a very terrible work day, even though I don't have a Cotton Candy or a Hoshi to come home to.

A cute manga story about two guys who meet and become friends, and eventually lovers. They have to get over the challenges of demanding work places, scary bosses and the echoes of a past life before they can be together.

The artwork is lovely and it is such a cute story with a cute puppy staring in a main role. If you like low angst romantic BL manga then this is one for you. It is an enjoyable story and definitely one to re read and hold onto when cheering up is needed.

I enjoyed how the two guys slowly but surely travelled the path of friendship to love. It is a gentle and romantic story and well worth reading. Enjoyable!

I usually like TokyoPop titles a lot more but this one was just "okay". The story and characters were cute enough but it felt very choppy and the pacing was all over the place. It also took a couple weird turns. Overall it was an okay read, I'll keep it for my TokyoPop collection but I have read better.

What a sweet story! I enjoyed the characters, and that self-care and acts of service were such a crucial point for their relationship. I liked how their lives affected one another, and the way the author connected their paths.

Such a sweet story about a puppy who was reincarnated as a man, works in a pet shop, and is looking for the boy who saved his life in his past life.

It was really cute and the artwork was beautiful.

3.5⭐

Cute romance with pretty art and lots of dogs, Cotton Candy stealing the show here and there.

Having a rather long and fluffy extra ch 3.5 in the middle of a turn of events made me feel like the pages weren't in the right order. I really wouldn't have put anything between 3 and 4, that was strange.

I like it! The art is cute and the leads are lovable. However, the pacing is choppy. On top of that, the story is a bit wacky and not in a good way. What's with the whole reincarnation thing? If the story is told from Hoshi's perspective or that at least gets elaborated upon, it would've been fine. As it is now, it just doesn't add anything to the story and could've been cut out.

I adored this book! It was absolutely fluffy and adorable.

As someone who hasn’t read many one-shot mangas, I think this was perfect as a stand alone book! The pacing was fast, but flowed in a pleasing manner that made it easy and fun to read!

I will say the backstory seemed a bit weird to me at first, but it all made sense and created a very cute cohesive storyline!

Was highly anticipated for me as tokyo pop books generally are bangers. Book was not a letdown and was seriously adorable! The artstyle is so fuckin amazing and is so fluid throughout the book. The artist fuckin ATE!!! Also the story was all around super cute, it was a misunderstanding but not like in the dumb ones, but seemed plausable and was really good. Like the plot twist that . Tsuchida Haru served cunt with this book. It lived up to the hype.

okay tokyopop, you are redeemed!!! this was such a sweet and well-paced oneshot featuring an overworked salaryman and a pet store worker who was a dog in his past life. the relationship they build takes place over a good amount of time, and they really form a strong bond! I loved how inukai even takes hoshi back to meet his grandfather. also, a super fluffy puppy named cotton candy....wahhh! what an adorable story!!

I didn't hate it or anything but sooo many cliches. Parts were cute but it felt like it couldn't decide whether it was a comedy or drama.

I'm... the dog you saved all those years ago!

I'm only here today because you saved my life. I've always prayed that one day I would be able to repay your kindness.

¿Qué Disfruté?
El lindo romance, por supuesto. Pero también ver el cambio de vida de Inukai. El hombre del final es alguien muy diferente y mucho más feliz que el Inukai del principio.

¿Qué Prefiero Olvidar?

Since the first time we met... whenever he's feeling insecure... whenever we're not together... I want to be with him. I want to hold him tight and tell him not to look sad.

Inukai is a work addict. Whenever someone in his office seems to be behind, he always seems willing to help them catch up even if it means he has to stay late. Obviously, he often has work from several people piled on his desks and ends up working all night long. Meanwhile the other workers in the office work to their usual getting off time, and even go out for drinks after, leaving him to do their work.

He becomes worn out and rather depressed and one night, he finally leaves in time to see some stories that are open and manages to look at some cute puppies. The clerk really enjoys sharing the puppies with him and urges him to come back every time he feels down and introduces himself as Hoshi. Inukai finally gets the nerve to change jobs and keeps his work and home life better balances, at least for a while, but that his new job, he gets involved in a huge project and ends up worn out to the point of passing out in the dog park. Meanwhile, he has gotten a dog, named Cotton Candy, and Cotton Candy runs from the park to the pet shop and gets Hoski and together they get Inukai to the hospital and taken care of.

Hoski moves in till Inukai gets better and then stays as food cooker and around help. Then they realize that Hoski thinks he owes an ancient debt. They figure out that is an errand so Hoahi leaves thinking he has been a nuisance. They solve that question and end up happy ever after...well, it ends with them happy, let's leave it at that.

I recommend it as another version of the big love story with reincarnation included along with misunderstandings that have to be resolved. Then there is also another character that I was left wondering what his motivation was. Who was HE in love with.

Really cute and wholesome. The art made it extra adorable.

Inukai's completely overworked at his job and his coworkers take advantage of his inability to say no to someone in need. One day he stops in a pet shop and feels slightly recharged by the cute puppies and the pet shop clerk, Hoshi. Hoshi tells Inukai he can come visit anytime and talking to Hoshi inspires Inukai to quit his crappy job and change his life around so he can get a dog. But the twist is that Hoshi recognizes Inukai's scent and believes Inukai's the boy who saved him when he was a dog in a previous life.

The whole reincarnation thing was a bit strange. It's not properly thought out in my opinion. This is more of a light hearted read so it's not really meant to be thought of critically, but there's a lot of holes. Like why does Hoshi remember so much about being a dog? Is reincarnation a normal thing in this world that there are multiple people in similar situations as Hoshi? If it was a previous life why does Hoshi still have animalistic habits? If he was reborn as a human wouldn't he have unlearned it? Just some of the things I was thinking about. Other than that I just thought this was really cute. Somewhat similar vibes to Yagi the Bookshop goat in its cuteness.

I mean what can I say it's cute! A sweet fluffy BL with a cute dog the characters take care of added in. What's not to love? If you're looking for a good time and just want something short and sweet I'd reccomend checking this out.
The premise is absolutely wildly. I mean a guy who was a dog in a past life who believes the main character is the person who saved him years ago? It's kinda weird? And also the characters kinda except like oh okay you were a dog in a past life okay.
The story's sweet, I really liked seeing Inukai go from an overworked and stressed guy to a very happy with an actual good job, idk it's just a nice story to see someone succeed in the adult world. Also yeah an adult romance comic! Always prefer to see older romance rather than high school.
The story, taking away the crazy premise is pretty simple. The past life plot and the dog theme is the main thing separating it from a run off the mill romance. The actual romance is okay, it's cute yeah but kinda basic (minus the past life thing). I wasnt really into the 3rd act breakup felt kinda forced. Also nitpick but BRO U ARE LIVING WITH THIS GUY AND YOU STILL THINK THIS IS JUST A CUSTOMER CLIENT THING BE SO REAL.
But again it's very cute, it's hard not to smile at this!

this is a very cute bl about a burnt-out office worker and a pet shop employee who claims he used to be a dog in his past life!
i honestly wish this manga had been longer. :( the pacing as it is was completely fine, but i wish there had been a few more cute domestic scenes + i wish the visit to ryo’s grandpa’s house had been a little longer!
(actually, for some reason, the part in the mountains in the snow made me feel a little emotional?? (my abandonment issues kicking in, i guess, lmao.))
but that’s probably just me being greedy for more story because i thought this was so cute!

the art style was nice, and i especially loved how cute cotton candy was!!!! 🥺🥺🥺
(also the bonus stories were.. shocking? but fun!)

it’s probably more of a 4.5 out of 5 stars, but i rounded up because i’m very generous with ratings and my enjoyment of anything is the most important aspect of my decision, and i did enjoy this IMMENSELY. (truly wish there were more volumes. 😭)

i’ll even consider owning a copy of this manga one day! next time i have the money, and the space 😅, i’ll be sure to pick this one up. 🥰

3.5/5 stars! This is super sweet and cute. The characters are fun and likable and I really felt for Inukai. He was so lonely and depressed and seeing him becoming more sure of himself and more comfortable with Hoshi around was lovely.

The premise is silly of course, but it was funny. With how old the characters are (which is revealed in a bonus story at the end), it doesn't completely make sense that , but I'm just gonna ignore that bit and say Hoshi is just an excited little puppy at heart who didn't think too hard about it 😂

The title is very fitting as it does very much feel like puppy love between these two. Sure they end up living together and everything, but it does feel pretty surface level throughout. While it was definitely cute and I had a lot of fun reading it, I think this is a standalone that could have actually benefited from a second volume, to give the characters a little more depth. Just a thought 🤷‍♀️

Awwhhh! Another sweet love story. This one includes reincarnation. That's a fun little twist. I appreciated that. One of the main characters was a dog in his past life and a boy saved his life. He made a promise to pay him back in his next life.

Anyway. Our couple meets in a pet shop. Our main character is overworked. He went 14 days without a day off and then 11. Is that how it is in Japan. I mean, that sound brutal. I love a weekend. I did that during acupuncture school and it burned me out quick.

I do have a question. Is this how it works? Do you just invite yourself into someone's life and that's how relationships work?? I know this is a story and all, but I don't know how relationships work. The only one I had was with a roommate. We lived in a house with 4 people and the proximity worked for us. I don't think the roommates were happy about it. Anyway, just curious.

The puppy aspect was cute and the couple was cute and happy. A fun story. This isn't a Yaoi. I would say 13 and up is appropriate for this story.

What if your dog reincarnated and found you later in life? Not gonna lie, the thought itself brings me to tears, but this story was very sweet and wholesome! Highly, highly recommended as a sweet read for a spring day!

Overall thoughts
This was a refreshing read. It’s not angsty. It’s fluffy, and it’s adorable. The overlying message of family and friendship was the cherry on top. It’s one of those cute reads that would be perfect on a rainy day with some cheesecake on the side.

If it’s fluff you’re looking for to rest your weary soul, this manga can’t hurt you! Domestic romance, cute doggies… I’m a happy camper.

Who is this manga for
This sweet oneshot is perfect for manga fans looking to get into BL with a wholesome read. For seasoned fans, this heartwarming read is one to bring you all of those butterflies! It’s not too complicated and it doesn’t have too much drama, hence why I’m calling it more of a beginner-friendly story!
