Those granted Fates from the Gods can become so much more than human… they are the Fated.
Alastair is one such Fated. Gifted with the Crafter Class after his village is decimated, he can now create priceless enchanted gear.
Damon is another Fated: the Hunter. With the items crafted by Alastair, Damon’s martial prowess is second to none. And the Hunter class provides the perfect balance to the Crafter.
Together, the pair set out into the world, hunting monsters and gathering rare materials to craft the greatest items the world has ever seen.
450+ pages of LitRPG with a crafting focus. Two friends venture into the world to battle monsters, fight other Fated, and create unique, never-seen-before items.
This is one of those books that it’s hard to write a review for because I plow through the book in three days and that’s a good sign however I still have this nagging feeling about the book so I have to explain. First let me start out by saying this was an excellent book if LITRPG is your genre of choice it deserves your attention the characters are interesting the system involved in character development is really good. One of those systems where you’re like I wish they could choose everything but I only get one choice what are they going to pick. The action is there and you are drawn somewhat into the world now the world is a backdrop for what’s going on you weren’t giving super dense descriptions of the world because things just keep getting bigger and bigger this is not that type of book these men are adventures and they are here to go on an adventure. Now the only issue I take off the book is it does get a bit cheesy don’t get me wrong I don’t mind a book being cheesy but sometimes it goes just a tad bit too far. I have a perfect example for you have you ever watched one of the latter Fast and Furious movies. Great action great drama it’s not going series that draws in a crowd but it’s a little over the top. That’s what you get here despite that I kept reading even when I said I’ll probably not finish this book it’s a little too over-the-top for me I kept reading. The author kept drawing me back in because just when I was ready to say oh that’s too much things will be brought back down to earth when the MC or his friend would talk to someone or when they would start advancing in their improvements. The best way to describe this is like having candy candy that’s a little bit too sweet so I know I’m going to take the next book in doses. Now I recommend everyone give the book a read because the over the top points in the book may not be a problem for you I was able to get over them you may actually like them it just depends on what you’re into either way great book give it a read and leave a review for the author.
Tragedy has birthed many a hero, and here are two more
On a day like any other, a monstrous beast emerges from the woods and decimates their village. Two young men, barely more than boys decide they must help. One helps save as many as he can while the other leads the monster on a merry chase away from the village. Little do they know that this will be the first steps of the rest of their lives, which are about to get a lot more interesting. One a crafter and smith and the other a fighter and loyal friend, will embark on a grand adventure to save their town and be adventurers. Because after destroying the town and chasing them, the beast is sleeping in it’s cave lair and they are going to wake it up and try and kill it. Succeeding would be an act beyond most normal men hand these two very young men have a plan, it’s not a great plan, but it’s a plan! Hopefully the gods are on their side!
Fatal Flaw I really wanted to like this book, but it has two fatal flaws.
First it has got enough of the basics of LitRPG to be a fun read, with some development / leveling mechanic. Unfortunately things go from zero to monte-haul way to fast to be very fun.
The very first struggle they face, both main characters are chosen by Gods and elevated to fated. There is not a lot of struggle, work or effort before a big payoff. One risk that is more of a gamble and happens so early in the book you don't have much investment in the characters.
Alistair's first crafting effort results in a epic intelligent weapon, and he wasn't even established as being a talented blacksmith before hand. Alistair's very first love interest turns out to be the princess of the land and there are remarkably few complications as that develops.
Alistair and Damon come off as frat boys pretending to be deep or interesting and failing. Not sure if I'll read the next one. It does have the advantage of being a 1-day read.
While the book had no horrible faults it was just simple and superficial. Very OP protagonist which i dont mind but also is given everything. The whole story had no real death For the mechanics Of the crafting or even the basic story line. Felt like it was written for YA Has a target audience or maybe somebody new To the genre. I was looking forward to a Crafting novel But I was a bit disappointed in the crafting. Not sure I will read another in the series.
Wonderful book ok. It is a different type of eye ‘‘em than I normally find in the genre. Our hero’s through pure dumb luck attract the attention of the gods and become two of the legendary fated. Powers are learned, political machinations encounter and a touch of deus ex machina all combine into a delightful romp. Two life long friends set out to be hero’s, to slay the monsters and protect those unable to protect themselves. But of course nothing is ever that simple. Great read, looking forward to the continuation!
This book is imaginative, has an interesting take on progression stories that's simplified for readers, without losing flexibility for the character development. I would recommend this book also because it is young adult friendly, pg13, but still deals with moral and social issues that need answered, in a step by step reveal that feels genuine to coming of age stories.
This book is... okay. The story is entertaining, and the characters are believable. However, the world building seems so ephemeral. There is essentially no depth to the world aside from the few characters they directly interact with, and even those seem seem to be an afterthought.
Probably not continuing with the series as another series by this author started similarly for me and then just imploded after book 2 or 3.
I love reading books that take me through the building of a character and their personalities. A story that holds my attention and still builds throughout the entire story. Here 2 friends from a small village are granted the Legendary ability called 'Fated' that is bestowed by different gods to mortals giving them powers. They go and have fun and at times dangerous adventures, but in the end survive.
Interesting concept on powers but it became a little tedious when every time something happened, a miraculous new ability manifested to deal with the situation. Add in strange decision making by various characters and it made it hard to stay in the story.
A bit of a disappointment since I like DB's other books. I won't be reading the rest of this series.
This was one of the most compulsive tales I have read for many, many years. I admit I got lost in there a few times and had to reread a chapter or so to reset but I will reread the book in the next day or so, marvelous!
Alistair and Damon are like two buds on the road to fame and fortune. Picked by Gods to be Fated Heroes, they learn what true friendship is all about. Having the others back. Good start.
This is without a doubt, a series I will keep up with. The whole concept is wonderful. I do wish it was written for a more mature audience in mind, but I know that is a personal preference. Even without that content, it is a series that I would drop others for.
Another swords and sorcery story, with honest but poor young men having the time of their lives. Take me, too! Once I was young and poor and after many years of hard work, toil, trouble, marriage, I'm no longer young.
The heroes are likable, they are best of friends and tend to rip on each other like only two best friends can do. I like the premise, and the story line so far, will definitely read book two.
(Heard this on audible.) So I purchased this audiobook not knowing what to expect other than knowing what the title was and I'm glad I got it. The beginning was a little slow for my liking but it picks up after a couple of chapters. After the first couple of chapters the story gets puts in full gear and then it just becomes almost impossible to put down. That's how interested I was in the audiobook. I love all the details that were put in the story including the puns. So kudos, to the author & narrator for all the amazing work they've done for Crafter's Fate and look forward to another Crafter's Fate in the future.
And regarding the people leaving the 1-3 star reviews, not everyone is going to like it cause that's not their cup of tea per say but as for me it was quite enjoyable so keep up the amazing work you do.
