Eloise Wayana, the grand duchess of the North, is executed by Emperor Caien Helisis after it is revealed that she was secretly a villainess all along. This marks the end of season two of the latest trending web novel, “The Crown of Blood.” As one of its avid readers, Kim Dakyung is eagerly waiting for the next season when she is suddenly hit by a truck on her way home! But once she reawakens, she finds that she is in the body of the grand duchess herself and has been teleported back to the novel’s beginning. Already knowing what road Eloise will go down, Dakyung is desperate to change her fate and survive until season three. Lucky for her, a younger version of Caien falls right into her hands, and she is going to do whatever it takes to keep him on her side.
Eloise returns to the past after being executed by the Emperor she served for betraying him. The second time around she is determined to save her life and bring the young Emperor to her side. If yaas queen was a person, it would be Eloise. The art was glorious but I especially loved how Eloise was calm and focused. She used her head to plan ahead and protect her territory. Although she rocked her pants suits, I wish there'd been one scene with her in a gown. I adored Caien's secret yandere tendencies and possessiveness over Eloise. Also wish there was an epilogue to wrap things up.
The artwork is inconsistent. Some of it is detailed and stoic, some of it is messy or histrionic. A lot of it is repetitious where the characters take the same poses in shots to introduce outfits or while chatting to provide exposition. It's colored and effective, but as mentioned inconsistent in quality and tone. The story itself is okay. There's an evil villain posing as a saintess, cute side characters/animals, broken memories regarding prophecies, dreams, and soul migration, as well as a love story. We don't often get insights into the character thoughts which is disappointing. Our protagonist while dumber than a pile of rocks about male interest is too OP for the action scenes to hold any tension. As such I am thankful they are not the focus of the narrative. The ending feels rushed. Eloise is kind of sassy so I see why people might admire this one, but it doesn't quite distinguish itself once you are familiar with this genre variant.

update: dropped this because of the cp. i cannot stand him. i said i was curious as to how the story would progress in my earlier review, but i didn't want this, whatever this is right now. cp is such an ass to everyone but our fl, and i do not approve. what's worse is how fl is even being tricked by his stupid act?? i like some (keyword: SOME) yanderes/obsessive dudes but not this one, oh hell no
@chapter 9 · so far so good. the only person who I'm feeling suspicious of as of now is , but I think most of us who're reading this have our guards up with him, so.. eh.
also, I seriously love how Eloine (Eloise's brother), and Jaiden (her aide). They're both absolute cuties around our mc. am curious as to how this story will progress.
