Interesting World
Diplomat daughter and secret government assassin Dana/Sevyn meets her newest bodyguard Neal and they both go on a journey to learn a lot about their world and themselves.
I like this author’s work, but this isn’t my favorite story.
Something about Dana was mildly annoying. I can’t quite put my finger on it but I never found myself really rooting for her. I thought Neal was cute but I would’ve love to see him be a little more alpha male.
This wasn’t a bad story, it introduces an interesting world with the potential to deliver good stories in the future. This particular story just felt like things were happening, I never felt they were in real danger. When we got to the end it was all a quick wrap up where I think that could’ve been a bigger part of the book in my opinion because it introduced interesting plot points. Maybe these will be touched on more in future books.
All in all not bad but I think I just had high hopes.

I want more from this series🔥👿🔥
Awww snap, this book had action, suspense, secrets, and most definitely steamy hot sex🙌🏽. I’m a huge fan of Keta Kendric and was looking forward to reading a paranormal book by her.
Dana’s extracurricular activity of hunting monsters didn’t stay a secret for long with Neal at her heals😝. Neal as her bodyguard picked up on her deception and found out she was more than a diplomat’s daughter. I loved Dana’s confidence. As Sevyn she is a badass assassin🦸🏽♀️, and as a woman she is a strong sexy siren that’s bold with her sexual desires🥵👿. The innuendos between them sure did heat things up quickly and Neal was all for it. Although he had that alpha energy, I liked that he allowed Dana to take the reign often😘. The reasons for her hunting monsters were both emotional and physical. It was shocking and sad when she learns about the mystery surrounding her mother’s death🥲. The bright side is the self-discovery that turned out to be beneficial for both as they supported each other in the fight. The story about Neal is interesting and I’ll be checking out her novella to learn more about him😊.
All in all, I enjoyed the book. At first, I wasn’t sure I was going to remember all the different terms, realms, and creatures but by the way the story was told I was able to keep track. I hope there are more books in this Smoke & Fires Series!!

Couldn't Engage With This Book

This was for me a boring read, it wasn't engaging enough for me to get lost in the story. Though written well without a bunch of grammatical errors, the dialogue and situations the characters faced were too easy and easily resolved. Neal felt emotionless and Sevyn/Dana was almost overly confident to the point of being reckless. Certain parts caught my attention, like when we learn that Sevyn's mom was still alive and the information about her vampire heritage but it didn't last.

I am a huge fan of Keta Kendric so when she said she was writing paranormal I was like ok. To be honest, when I started the book I was like ma'am what is this, but then in true Keta Kendric fashion she weaves a tale that has you sitting on the edge of your seat. This book does not jump into the action right away. She slowly and calmly introduces you to Dana aka Sevyn. Dana is every ounce of bad a$$ female assassin of monsters. Neal is assigned as her guard and one night, one encounter changes everything between them. They are working together to find the monsters that changed her life until she meets the one who has asking herself if she is the hero or the villain. This book is excellent and worth the read.

Hero or Villain
Another terrific book from Ms. Keta Kendric. I ATE THE BOOK UP, and it made me fall in love with paranormal romance all over again. Sevyn is a steamy slow burn, IR bodyguard romance that wholes you captivated by the build of suspense.
Dana is one badass, sassy, take-no-prisoners huntress set on avenging the murder of her mother. Neal Oh Neal, is recruited by Dana's father to protect her, only for him to discover that Dana has many secrets and is living a double life.
Y'all, I ate up Sevyn. The flow, the build of tension and the action kept me engrossed from beginning to end. The world Ms. Kendric created in this series is phenomenal, and I can't wait to read Neal's story.
If you enjoy reading IR, paranormal, bodyguard or action/adventure romance, then you need to read this book. Highly recommend you pick up this one.

'Sevyn' was an action-packed, entertaining paranormal romance read that will keep you turning the pages to see what's coming next. The author did a fantastic job putting Dana, aka Sevyn, who worked for the TOP agency that dealt with supernatural monsters, and Neal together, who worked for the same TOP agency, but now he was assigned for Dana's security. So, they both had some superpowers. Dana wanted revenge for what had happened to her mother, but it looks like she didn't have all of the correct facts about what happened to her in that situation. And it appears that Neal had his own set of problems with what had happened to him earlier in his life. Will these two be able to sort out the battle that was going on with them as secrets start coming out? However, as the two got closer, they were now working together hunting these monsters. Will there be a love story coming from all this between Dana and Neal? To find out the answers to many of the questions, the reader will have to pick up this good read and see how well this author brings it all out. And the reader will be left wanting to know more about Neal's story.

This was my first book from this author and I gotta say, I’m a fan! Sevyn and Neal were super cute and I like that the story wasn’t so cookie cutter. I wish there was a little more depth to their love story though and there wasn’t a ton of steam but the romance was there. And I can honestly say that the story was so good that it didn’t need a lot of steam to keep it interesting. It was filled with lots of twists and turns and brutal action. But I feel like some scenes could have been a little more fledged out. Like I was HYPE when Linkin finally came on the scene, but the ensuing fight I was hoping for didn’t really go down. Just a revelation. Which was good, but I wanted a face in the floor while the explanation panned out. Dana-Sevyn was a bad ass, a little overly cocky at times but it’s to be understood. Wish we got a little more from Neal too. He was pretty quiet and Dana was definitely the alpha though it kinda started out that he was the the strong silent type. He more kinda fell into the role of just following her lead. Not sure how I felt about that. I do love that she wasn’t some little prissy princess. Kinda reminded me of a female Bruce Wayne & Batman. Can’t wait to get into the next and learn more about Neal.

ARC review - I love keta’s previous series and had high hopes for the series. The action in this book is superb and Sevyn is like a black Buffy but better. I love how kickass strong she is but she came across very arrogant. aside from the action I felt like something was missing . Other then being a fighter, Dana didn’t grab me as a character and her romance with Neil seemed to happen very quickly and besides “hot” sex i felt Neil was falling for her more than she was for him. I didn’t get invested in the characters like I did her other books. The revelation did nothing for me and I was more curious about Neil’s story. The end was rushed like the author couldn’t think of an ending. I would have preferred some life or death fight till the end action scene to take place but didn’t get that. For me this book was just ok.

Received as an ARC. Overall, this book is very good but I felt like there could of been more to this story. Dana aka Sevyn worked for the TOP agency dealing with abilities, supernatural mysteries and mayhem. Neal also worked for the same agency but was assigned to be security for Dana. She's filled with hate and revenge for the vile creatures that killed her mom, so her actions are causing reactions that she can't control. Neal has his own internal battle that he's going through but was still able to be there for her when it matters (emotionally, physically and sexually). Few questions still remain but the main one is: Who is Neal?

This story of Dana/Sevyn is a definite page turner. It’ll have you reeling and wanting more of this supernatural world. You have Dana who lives two lives, one in the daytime and one in the nighttime. These two personas couldn’t be more different from one another. She has suffered from an incident from her childhood that has led here on the path she has chosen. She’s on a mission and is not letting anyone stand in here way. Then along comes Neal who will turn her world around. There are definite twists and turns that lead Dana reeling from the revelations. Highly recommend this story, definitely looking forward to book 2!!!

Complete but still missing something!
This author has always been a go-to for a great story and her paranormal genre is no different. I liked the book and am looking forward to more of Dana aka Sevyn and Neal, definitely more of him. I read his novella, how can she entice us like that? So yeah, I definitely want more. Dana (Sevyn) was a kick butt take names later heroin and I LOVED it. I kinda felt sad she was actually taking out her own kind. Who would have thought that? I was left wondering how much her dad and brothers knew of the mom's situation? Maybe we'll find out soon. Excellent story and highly recommended.

This story lacked excitement and sufficient drama. Sevyn hunts monsters in her spare time, and her concerned father hires guards to keep her safe since her mother was brutally murdered. Neal enters as the latest guard. Sevyn uses extraordinary abilities to hunt these monsters, and her family has no clue what she is capable of.
Sevyn and Neal become close and start hunting the monsters together. Their love story lacked depth and was under developed. Very disappointing.

Dana is the prim and proper princess to family and in her normal life. Sevyn is the agent who gets things done. There’s a time and a place for each sides of her but she is really all of the above.
Neal is an agent pulling double duty but there’s always a reason for his path to cross another agent.
These two burn up more than sheets as they fulfill their assignments, duties, and hunting. What happens when the hunted and the hunters have huge revelations about the other?

Dana and Neal are other world fighters for justice. Neal is assigned to Dana but Dana needs no one or so she thinks to help her in her quest for vengeance and justice. Together they have the potential to out wit their enemies but when love comes into the equation they are so powerful together. Can't wait to see how this world opens up. Neal is next.

I’m a big fan of paranormal, this book did not disappoint. Not a dull moment from beginning to end it kept me engaged. It was action packed, and every scene detailed. We see this story through Dana-Sevyn’s eyes, trying to avenge a loved ones death from a painful event she witnessed as a child. Neal her assigned security detail is there every step of the way helping her to uncover truths that she may not want to learn. Great twist at the end. Five stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great Read
This is a great read. I love paranormal and Dana aka is a sexy, courageous Huntress with a deadly thirst for vengeance in making the monsters who killed her mother pay. With secret abilities of her own she stops at nothing to find and get rid of the monsters/vampires. Neal who is a TOP Agent just like her was sent to watch over her. I love the love they've grown to share and I can't wait to find out what happened to him in the past nineteen years he can't remember.💓💓

This book was amazing the reveals just kept on coming and I couldn't contain my excitement n a LIVE on TikTok. This is the first book in a trilogy, and I am excited that I have the next two books to continue this glorious ride. The FMC is a mysteriously fast supernatural spy at night and a corporate person at her family's firm during the day. The MMC is her bodyguard and has mysterious abilities of his own.

I love paranormal books! This was an enjoyable read. It was pretty detailed, so I was able to see the picture the author was trying to paint for her readers. I liked the characters although Sevyn was definitely a handful…lol. Good job, Keta Kendric!

Keta Kendric is proving to be a masterful storyteller. If you love paranormal romance that has intense drama, intrigue and thrilling elements, this book will keep you enthralled. I enjoyed trying to figure out the angles and plot while Dana and Neal pulled me deeper into their tangled webs. From page one, the connection and sizzling bond between the two main characters was palpable. Bravo!

Very descriptive
Lots of time spent describing everything. Scenes are stretched out and there is so much detail the reader can create vivid pictures. Even with all the detail and world building, the sense of mystery is still strong. You are left wanting to read the next book to figure out how all the pieces will fit together.

Sevyn Interesting
I guess I felt not enough was revealed in the characters, as family of father and brothers I felt was missing except how they loved and worry about her escapes from danger. Romance was good but too little revealed to keep me interested in a series. Good reading of a storyline.

Split personalities
