Hollywood Hotshot is book one in the new Movie Studs series.

Roberta Kove rents a house on a quiet cul-de-sac in Melville, a town on the outskirts Pittsburgh while on assignment. A traveling laboratory technologist by day, she writes novels and screenplays at night. Until the only other house on her street gets rented by a Hollywood movie star and fiascos ensue.

"Most Gorgeous Man of the Year", Taylor Reyd rents the house next while on location in the area for a new movie. A hollywood rogue, he's under contract for a publicity-free time while in location. Trying to stay aloof, he tries to ignore his next door neighbor as long as he can.

When the two of them get together, they must address their growing attraction for each other despite their polar differences.

Can Roberta and Taylor settle the issues wedging between them amid the chaos of Taylor's fandom and his ex-girlfriend's interferences?

This review has been hard to write. I finished the book some time ago. So I will start with the good parts. The Blurb got me to request the book; I am a sucker for Hollywood and the girl next door. Well, this girl next door happens to be an author, even better. So the premise and the story also fall under the good. I am also attracted to the cover.

However, I never connected with the characters, and the writing was sometimes flat. I wanted to like the book but just could not get past the writing. I did complete the book and might read this author again in the future.

Thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Reading the blurb on NetGalley I thought this sounded like it was going to be right up my alley. For some reason I've found myself reading a ton of romances involving celebrities this year so Hollywood Hotshot was calling to me. 🤣 Unfortunately I just never clicked with this book. I ended up skimming around 55% and I don't think my feelings would be changed if I stuck it out. There was just a lack of chemistry and connection, not only between the character, but also as a reader. I couldn't picture the setting and characters in my head and that severely stunted my reading enjoyment, sadly!
.
I would still be open to reading another book my this author in the future in case this was just a "me" thing.

I literally just finished reading Hollywood Hotshot, by Diana Rock, 10 minutes ago. The story starts out and I'm not sure if I'm going to like this book or not. I know that I like Roberta, but do I like Taylor? The book is from both of their points of view, but we get very little of Taylor, and some of his POV is feeling almost random. I'm about 1/2 way through the book, and it is begging to really suck me in. I'm liking both Roberta and Taylor now. The rest of the book is pretty good. There are some parts where I go "why", as I wonder why the author needed to add that, but with all of that I still REALLY enjoyed the last 1/2 of the book. I'm glad the angst wasn't throughout the book, because I really didn't like the H's mom or his ex. I would not forgive the mom if I was Roberta or Taylor. While the book doesn't cover it, I am assuming they are both better people than me and do forgive her. Anyway, this is a good book, 4.5 stars, but rounded down as it isn't strong/good enough to round up.

A movie star and the girl next door. Can their love survive?

I like both Roberta and Taylor. They are both fun and likable characters. They both have issues to work out but they are terrific together. I like their chemistry a lot. A great feel good read.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

I am very torn about my feelings about this book. I liked the plot, but it’s flaws were to big to ignore. The authors lack of description through the whole book made it hard to get a grip of the characters and their surroundings. Roberta’s nipples were more descriptive than the rest of her body and that didn’t give me much insight to her appearance since I don’t feel that it’s something that are relevant to the story.
It’s a good story and it’s a shame that it wasn’t told in a better way.

✅️ Opposites attract
✅️ Neighbors
✅️ Multiple POVs
✅️ Contemporary Romance

⚠️ TW: Cancer

Roberta, a pathology lab technician, and Taylor Reyd, Hollywood's heartthrob, end up as neighbors in Pennsylvania, while both renting houses.

They first bond over Roberta's cute pups 🐶 and then the sexual tension begins! 🥵

Once Taylor's mother and ex-girlfriend show up to visit, a series of disasters happen and chaos ensues.

Very cute, quick read with some spice!🌶

Thank you NetGalley and Diana Rock for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I won't sugar-coat this. This book was boring. I tried so hard to get into the book, but I just couldn't. The writing and dialogue was very child-like and cringey. There's also the occasional use of 'big' words in some places but it just seems off.

1/4 of the book was Roberta basically saying in ten different ways that her and Taylor Reyd can never be anything more than friends, even before they met. Aside from that, a lot of scenes don't make sense and just felt like it was added for the sake of it.

One thing that also annoyed me the most was that Taylor basically invaded Roberta's privacy and stole her manuscript because he was trying to be cautious, I don't even know. He did all that stuff and she was so quick to forgive him, especially with how mad she was when she found out lmao?

And don't get me started with Taylor's mother and ex-girlfriend. They're annoying as heck. Also, the mother's reason for doing all that? She's screwed up.

Anyway, I wasn't into the book at all and basically had to force myself to finish this one.

Hollywood Hotshot is a book with a mix of different genres but never fully committing to any of them. It is part romance novel, part family drama, and part almost thriller. It has a bit of everything thrown in. It was not a bad read, but I think it would have been stronger had it committed to something and seen it through. The characters were fine, but nothing really made me love them or root for them.

Diana Rock's Hollywood Hotshot is exactly what you'd expect it to be.
I like the idea of the storyline, as Roberta doesn't care about her new neighbor being a Hollywood It guy.
I like the little bits of crazed fans.
But the execution is just okay.
The storyline is ultimately very fluffy and far fetched.
There's no way the two wouldn't have connected the dots.
Bascially, it's over the top and just left me feeling icky about it all.

I won this book on a GR giveaway.

Pretty fun and easy read, I enjoyed the how the writer played at the crazy ex girlfriend and the craziness of grandchild yearning of a mother, then them teaming up! Oooooffff.

I enjoyed the FMC, one job to make the money and support her on her dreams when she isn’t work. I do wish we got more background on the MMC.

Hollywood romance

I thought that this was a fairly good read. It was a different type of story with the with the conniving ex. It flows fairly well. I thought her character could have been I little stronger.

What if People Magazine's "Most gorgeous movie star" moved into the house next door? And what if you're only there on a temporary assignment, with a home on the other side of the U.S.? Roberta Kove has her issues, and one of them is fast becoming fighting her attraction to the movie star, Taylor Reyd.
Taylor's movie contract is requiring no bad-boy stunts and no bad publicity during the movie filming period. But with an attractive neighbor, he's torn between toeing the line or exercising his new found freedom.
It's not bad enough they question the wisdom of their budding relationship, exterior forces try to keep them apart. Add in a hefty dose of insecurity, PTSD, deception, and theft for a tumultous ride.
