I have enjoyed all the series just until now my main complaint has been it does not sound like Shetland. This one fitted Shetland perfectly making you feel like you were there. All the three leads could lead the story in their own right but blended well together too. It also mentions characters from previous stories including the Campbells. Tabitha draws out to me with the Christmas show for the local threatre but all have interesting stories to tell. Easy 5 stars

Having just finished book 3 in this series, I couldn't help but instantly jump straight into A Shetland Christmas Carol while all the characters were fresh in my head. At least all the ones that make up the Lerwick Manor community, who I've really taken to my heart during the series.
Once again this could be read as a standalone as the three main characters this time around, haven't had their stories looked at that much until now, but I'd suggest that due to the sheer number of characters and how everyone is interlinked this really probably is a series best started at the beginning - which has the bonus of you being able to read even more wonderful stories in this setting.
So we have Callie, who is cousins with Pippa and Jemima, and doesn't seem to like them very much. She is big time struggling with her financial situation and it was very interesting having seen glimpses of her in the previous book, to understand just why she has made some of her more dubious choices. She is though a hard worker, and reading her varying jobs was enough to exhaust me.
I loved her guiding Alpaca walks and how much she loves the Alpacas on the estate.
Then we have Heather, who is clearly a dog lover as she breeds Shelties for a living. They are highly sought after and she is determined to keep the breed's bloodline pure and give her three dogs and their pups the best possible care, as well as finding fabulous forever homes for each pup.
In between her caring for the latest litter of puppies, she is slowly stepping into the dating world, much to the mixed reactions from her daughters. I definitely saw a different side to Isla in this book.
Lastly we have Tabitha in a leading role, and such an apt statement that is, given her love of theatre. I absolutely adored reading all the theatre elements to her story, complete with how much research she puts into any role. I also enjoyed hearing about her day job of creating soaps and balms from Goats milk.
However the storylines that made me smile the most involved Dottie and Jemima, as they both take their next steps in their lives. I loved even second hand hearing what these two stalwarts of the series are up to, and couldn't be happier with their outcomes.
It's another good book in this gorgeous Shetland based series, which I really hope hasn't come to an end, but fear it may have done. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Lerwick Manor, and meeting so many fabulous characters.

I received a free copy of, A Shetland Christmas Carol, by Erin Green, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Callie, Heather, and Tabitha, have a lot going on. I really liked the characters Callie, and Tabitha, but not Heather. Callie is accused of something she did not do, and it weighs heavily in this book. A nice Christmas story, all around.

Little romancer and little Christmas in this one - more of a novel with a lot of female main characters. Each of them with their own goals, dreams, troubles and views.
One of the POVs is a single mother of two young women, starting to date again now get daughters are grown up, but even in her story the romance is just a tiny part of her whole life.
I actually really enjoyed the way this book branched out even more than the previous one. We get to see a lot of well know characters again, and meet new ones, and they are all very different and well fleshed out.
The amount of friction and arguments felt well balanced with the good heartedness and loyalty in a small and very close knit community. I loved seeing these women stretch and grow, and help each other out along the way.
The problems they face are realistic enough to be gripping, but not over the top. Be it struggling with depth, with the choice between your own happiness and your responsibilities, making a career of what you love most, coming to grips with loss, doubting your own instincts, it all felt well written and plausible.
I really enjoyed this, even though it wasn't really what I was expecting from the cover and blurb!

What a delight to be back in Lerwick. I loved catching up with all my Shetland friends, and getting a deeper look at some that we have only met briefly before. I have to say that two things really made me happy reading this. Dotty and Mungo finally being Mr and Mrs and the sheer delight they both show at that, and also Kasper. I am so happy Kasper has finally met someone as kind hearted as him, since we met him in the first book I’ve waited to see him find true love and Heather is just perfect for him, and wasn’t Isla just beautiful with her words or love and romance when trying to help her mum find happiness.
The characteristics portrayed in a number of characters are very relatable, the over obsessing about things and always wanting to be seen as almost perfect by others like Tabitha, and the stress and anxiety Callie feels trying to juggle her debt and not let anyone know about it and finding it so hard to let people in, even when she has people who want to help her.
Such a delight to be back and also sadness that it’s now the end of the Shetland adventures, I’ve really enjoyed my trips to the very top of the country.

Erin Green has written another cracker of a book, this is so beautiful, and you want to go to Shetland to make friends with all of the characters we meet, and read their point of view.
As this is part of a series, it is worth reading the first book, but isn't entirely necessary as you learn enough to understand exactly who everyone is, and very glad that Crispy is back.
I certainly want to go to Lerwick, and have a chat with everyone - from Isla's cafe, to Dottie, and Ned and Jemima, and even Ebeneezer, especially after the last chapter of the book.
This is also an encouraging story about debt, and how it can affect the person involved, and the people around them. There is a way out, and people can always change.
Go take a visit, and snuggle up with a hot chocolate and cake to read it.

I’ve loved this series, particularly the two Set around Christmas. It’s been wonderful to revisit the characters from the other books and I loved that this one was set around Lerwick Manor’s artisans again. I’ve even bought some handmade soap since reading it!

I didn't realise this was #4 in a series. It did stand alone but I had the feeling every now and again that I should already know some characters. Sadly it's really not very festive with only the last few chapters actually set at Christmas.

This uplifting read is set on the beautiful island of Shetland and immerses us in the lives of the Lerwick community in the run up to Christmas. It works perfectly as standalone, although it is a part of series by Erin Green, and having finished this, I am annoyed that I have not discovered it and the author earlier. We are immersed into the lives of 3 women, living with her parents, Callie has a troubling personal history and is working hard all the hours she can at numerous jobs, frenetically trying to juggle and keep ahead of her never ending debts, she is trapped by her inability to control her retail addiction. It all comes to a head when she returns home drunk late one night, only to learn later with horror of a shopping spree she cannot remember . She is envious of what she sees as the fortunate marriage and financial circumstances of her pregnant cousin Jemima at Lerwick Manor, and is not close to her other cousin, Pippa, either.
Heather Henderson is proud of her 2 daughters, Ellie and Isla, she has raised as a single mother, and runs her successful dog breeding business with love, insisting on vetting all the families and recipients of her beloved Sheltie puppies. She is close to her older sister, Iona, and her husband, Clyde, and their son, Magnus, is like a brother to her, their tragic history ensures their strong family ties mean they are there for each other. However, Heather feels unsettled, feeling she has missed out, she wants some adventure. This has her joining the local dating app, going on numerous dates, the only thing is no second dates follow, that is until Isla introduces her to the kind and considerate Kaspar. Tabitha makes her own soaps and balms that are in great demand, her business is thriving, but her true passion is acting, she is desperate for the role of Mrs Cratchit in the local am-dram Chrismas production of A Christmas Carol at The Garrison, directed by the aloof Ebenezer. She is giving her all to the part she eventually secures, although she can't help being distracted by Rabbie.
All 3 women face a series of challenges and setbacks amidst the joy in each of their lives, I really felt for Callie and what seems like her insurmountable financial problems, only to find matters exacerbated when she comes under suspicion when an item goes missing. It was a great to see her stumble into the role of a care worker for the elderly Happy Days residents, introducing them to the alpacas she is besotted by. This is a delightfully engaging and utterly entertaining festive read, with characters you cannot help caring for, of friendship and community, and all set in the magnificent location of Shetland. I recommend this highly for those readers wanting to lose themselves in a wonderful feel good escapist read. This will particularly appeal to those who love the likes of author Trisha Ashley. I found it took me a while to get into this book as it was told through the lives of three different characters and therefore three different,, but occasionally intertwined, storylines. It possibly may have helped if I’d read the other books in the series. However once I got into the book I did enjoy the story and enjoyed spending time with each of the characters, as well as in Shetland.
I like the way this book avoided the heavy romance line found in so many books that cover the Christmas period. Although Christmas is in the title of this book it is not really all about Christmas, Christmas is just the culmination of the story which starts off much earlier in the year.
I loved the three main characters and you soon find yourself totally enmeshed in their lives and rooting for them, especially Callie with the difficult situation she was in and the injustices that were heaped upon her. Also loved Tabitha’s story and keen to find out what happens next for her and the Amateur Dramatics Society.
If you enjoy books set in remote parts of Scotland and that enfolds you in the life of people then I think you would enjoy this book. I also liked the strong characterisation of this book so I am sure others will, and I look forward to picking up the other books in the series to find out their story.
Always good to spend some time in Shetland.

This was a brilliant book that I really loved reading. I just couldn't put it down and read it in just over a day. It wasn't overly Christmasy but was a great story. The fantastic story line was full of little dramas most of which were unexpected. I just loved the characters as they were realistic and very easy to connect with. I loved the inclusion of the llamas they made the story all that more enjoyable. What I loved the most was that the main character callie had money troubles and was willing to work very hard to pay off her debts. I certainly admired her productivity and determination to sort them out and it made for great reading. I loved the different types of jobs she was juggling and it really bumped up the pace of the novel. This book is part of a series but this book worked well as a standalone as I lost the book that started this series. This book was well wrote, followed seamlessly and definitely had me hooked. Its a great feel good novel that made me smile. I really can't recommend this book enough as it is a real page turning heartwarming story that I am sure you will love.
So much praise goes out to the author and publishers for creating such a wonderful story that was set in the shetlands. I definitely will be looking out for more books by this fantastic author.

My Opinion
Whilst part of a series this could easily be read as a standalone. It was nice to be amongst a familiar cast of characters. Erin has once again written a book that is a delight to read. Whilst not overly festive, this is a lovely book to read over the festive season.

My Opinion
Whilst part of a series this could easily be read as a standalone. It was nice to be amongst a familiar cast of characters. Erin has once again written a book that is a delight to read. Whilst not overly festive, this is a lovely book to read over the festive season.

I love a good Christmas book! I always seem to pick the books I read based on the cover and this book cover certainly is a lot of fun!
This is the fourth book in the From Shetland, With Love series but the first that I have read. Which maybe why I had a hard time really getting into the book. There are so many characters and I couldn’t keep track of who’s who. I had to write everyone’s names down and how they were related to each other. I would like to go back and start from the beginning of the series to see if that helps.
This book switches between three POV’s…
Callie, she lives with her parents and is in financial trouble and works multiple jobs barely making ends meet. This character was annoying at times but really changed my mind about her was how she handled being accused of something that she did not do. Yes she was upset, but really I feel that she took the high road - especially when the accusers realize that she didn’t do it.
Heather is a single mom of two grown daughters and she breeds dogs. I love how protective she is of her dogs (and the pups) and it shows that she is the same way with her daughters (maybe too much when it comes to their love lives).
And then there was Tabitha - my favorite of the three. She makes soaps and other beauty products. She is also really involved with the community theater where she performs in The Christmas Carol. She really proves that she is a true leader and does what it takes to make sure the show does go on!

This was an incredibly difficult book to review. It is the fourth in a series although I didn't find it difficult to get involved with the story and the various characters- even though I often got muddled between Mungo & Magnus Isla & Iona. My difficulty came from living in Shetland for the best part of twenty years & there were some things that really jarred with me. Firstly, not having a pantomime in the Garrison Theatre at Christmas would probably lead to civil unrest. Knowing it's fiction, I wasn't bothered by the fact I couldn't imagine where Lerwick Manor could be but although it sounds a great place, planning would never have allowed the craft spaces as it would have taken people away from 'Da Street' (where incidentally there is a lovely goat's milk soap shop!) It's my fault that I couldn't rate this more highly as it was an enjoyable read. Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.

I wanted to love this book, because the idea of a Christmas story set in Lerwick really appealed to me.
There are just too many characters, with too many issues, and too many subplots. The amateur theater group's production of A Christmas Carol got lost in the sauce and that was disappointing. A few of the story lines could easily stand alone as separate books.
I'm not a fan of constantly switching narrators from chapter to chapter, either. I find it annoying, but maybe that's just me. I don't really need to know what every single character is thinking all the time.

Each book in the series concentrates on a few characters from the community, although everyone features at some point so although some events are recapped I advise it is best to read each book in turn. Each character is realistic, as are their interactions with others in the community, and as in real life some are nice and some are not! Some of the events are predictable, but overall this is a feel-good romantic read which hits all the spots. I enjoyed it every bit as much as the others in the series.

Each character is realistic, as are their interactions with others in the community, and as in real life some are nice and some are not! Some of the events are predictable, but overall this is a feel-good romantic read which hits all the spots. I enjoyed it every bit as much as the others in the series.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC copy of this book. I thought this story was decent. To be honest, I feel like this might be a book I enjoy more after an additional read but I am not sure. I like how it was partially set on a charming farm. The characters were also enjoyable. The book was just slower than I would've liked. Like I said, I would be open to giving it another read around the Christmas season as I am a sucker for Christmas novels! 3 stars

Thanks to NetGalley and Headline Review for the ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. This just wasn't for me. I'm not sure I've ever read a book with so much dialogue and so little action. I requested it on NetGalley simply for the title, as I love all things Scotland, but this could have been set anywhere. There was nothing that screamed "Shetland" so that was a bit of a disappointment.

Too long. A very slow start, though it did pick up towards the end.
I really am not interested in the detailed ingredients that make up a bar of soap, or the analysis of Carrie's credit card debt, so I skim-read a lot of the book.
I thought Callie was too immature and Heather's daughter Ellie was vile.
Heather, Tabitha, Isla and Jemima were ok.
A touch of humour might have helped, but the book was too long and rather depressing.

A return to the From Shetland with love series- easy to sit down and lose yourself back in familiar setting. We learn a bit more about Callies troubles, meet up with familiar characters and meet new friends. It really makes you want to experience Shetland alongside them.
This is a lovely series to catch up with and now I can't wait for book 5.

Loved it!
This is the 4th instalment of the Shetland series and I loved being back there at Christmastime. Some recognisable characters and some new. Loved the storyline and disappointed it has come to an end, but I can revisit in a few years. Highly recommend it!

Another lovely read based on a place I’ve always wanted to visit, Lerwick up in Shetland Islands. My only gripe was because I had read the first two books in 2021 I had to try to remember who everyone was. A good book though and a series I would recommend.

I have to admit that as I listened to this in audiobook, I might have nodded off in different parts during travel etc. it was a perfectly pleasant book but I can’t say that it really stood out that much to me!

Closer to three than four I think but again a bit of a slow start. Nothing whatsoever to do with Christmas, the title refers to Dickens Christmas Carol and a play put on

Having read all the other Shetland books I was quite excited to read this one. However, I didn't enjoy this one as much as the others. I felt there were too many stories all clamouring for attention. Overall OK but a bit disappointing.
