BEN
The heart attack I thought I had turned out to be an anxiety attack. My doctor’s orders—take a month off from being Mayor of Roseville. Bulldozed by my large but tightknit family, I agree to a yoga and meditation retreat in Southern California. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined the woman who owns the place would turn my world upside-down. Portia is too young for me. Geographically, too far away from me. She’s also everything I never knew I wanted.

PORTIA
When my friend asks me to help her cousin-in-law manage his stress, I agree immediately. I’d do anything for a friend. She told me he’s the mayor of her town, so I’m expecting some old guy. Far from it. Ben Lane is six-feet-two inches of I-want-to-strip-you-naked-and-take-you-to-bed man. I’m turned on the minute I see him. How I could go from someone who’s never been infatuated to I-can’t-live-without-you is some kind of miracle. I’m pretty sure the miracle is Ben.

Doctor's orders force Ben Lane into taking a much-needed break, and it is with some skepticism that he embarks on a three-week stay at a Yoga and Meditation resort in California. However, he instantly changes his mind when he sets eyes on the enticing Portia Scott, whose reaction to Ben is off the charts, despite the 20-year age difference between them. In the end, it would appear that three weeks is not going to be nearly long enough for either of them to fulfill all their desires. This is a fairly steamy romance and yet as the chemistry between Ben and Portia spirals out of control, both of them are forced to examine the challenges facing them. Fortunately, they are able to work out their differences and the novel comes to a happy conclusion. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Ben is the 45-year-old mayor of Roseville, a small town in New Jersey. He is stressed and had an anxiety attack that he thought was a heart attack. His cousin sends him to her friend, Portia, who runs a yoga and meditation retreat in southern California

Portia is expecting an old guy but is definitely not expecting Ben. She is only 25 but has established a successful business.

Ben feels guilty because he is older, but Portia sees the man and not his age. It is insta-lust that quickly develops into insta-love for both.

The story is told in alternating POV chapters and is sultry and steamy. It is a quick, novella-length read that is part of the May-December romance series that will definitely heat up your Kindle.

I received an ARC from the author, and this is my voluntary review.

"Changing Lanes" by Andie Fenichel
Short story long on Steam
I was expecting a steamy contemporary SHORT story romance which was what was delivered. This is a good, fun easy-read story. The 20-year age difference was not a problem for me. Nor was the geographical distance twixt New Jersey and Southern California. Although, I never did get my mind wrapped around the idea of commuting between San Diego and Laguna Beach. Its about an 80 mile, 1-hour+15 minute ride… depending on traffic of course. I guess it is doable but not one I would want to do with any great frequently. Read and enjoy the retreat. Happy Reading ! !
NOTE: I received an ARC of this story from the author via BookFunnel.
This review expresses my honest opinion.

Fun story. Two people, 20 years different in age, come together as a result of New Jersey mayor Ben (the older one) having an anxiety attack that he thought was a heart attack, and his sister-in-law insisting on sending him for a 3 week retreat at Portia's (the younger one) retreat in California. He fought it, of course, being a high-powered, alpha male, but instantly became enamored of Portia at the airport when she comes to pick him up. Be warned, this is a very steamy novel, but nothing is gratuitous -- these two have an instant bond and everything happens as it should, albeit a bit quick!

I received an ARC via Bookfunnel, and the bonus epilogue the same way, for an honest review. Thanks!!

Age-gap

As mayor, his life is full of stress. After an anxiety attack, his doctor orders a month's rest. He goes to California to a yoga retreat. He meets her and is in her bed within 24 hours. He knows he is 20 years older than her, too old for her, but she doesn't have a problem with it. How will they get over the distance, though?
Another Lane Family story with a happy ending. Each can be read standalone or in any order. I read two of them out of order, but it was still a smooth read.

Unexpectedly so good!!

I really really love instalove books. But this book in the starts had a surprise by the name of Portia. This free spirit was a breath of fresh air! She was bold, strong, confident, sexy and she was not shy to start a love affair with an OLDER man overwhelmingly they corruption. Their journey was paved was not with gold. But nevertheless this couple new what they wanted. I loved the epilogue too. This book is a definite MUST READ!!

I liked this book but didn't love it. It was pretty well written but since it was a shorter length book the storyline was really fast moving so it made it harder to fall in love with the characters being in love. The sex scenes were great and it was a happy ending but I didn't get wrapped up on it like I usually do.

This story was so cute. I loved the tight net family vibe. I most definitely loved that Ben is a Jersey Boy. This story has so much heart. Here you got the east coast meets the west coast . I love how Portia is so easy going and down to earth. While Ben is the workaholic. It's true when they say opposite attract. If you love a small town vibe with a HEA then this book is for you.

This was a fun, quick read. Portia was surprised when she offered to help Ben and met him. The chemistry was there from the start, and how their attraction grew to love so quickly. Portia was a calm personality, while Ben was such a go-getter. They brought the best out of each other and watching as their story unfolded was a hoot.

This is my unsolicited review.

A very pleasant bedtime story. Strictly romance. The biggest challenges here was age and distance - they lived on separate coasts. But as we know, especially in romance novels, love wins out. These aren't really challenges at all. Although the bedroom door was open, this was really kind of sweet. Nothing here to inspire anything but very pleasant dreams.

Ben realizing he needs to relax goes to retreat and he ends up doing the deed with Portia is a friend to a family member of his. They have some steamy scenes which she apologizes for “using” him but then can’t get enough of him. It was an entertaining read.

These quick Lane romances are so hot and spicy. This one is an age gap story. Benjamin Lane is the oldest of his seven siblings and the mayor of his town. Portia is a successful spa owner who is twenty years his junior. On the first night they meet sparks fly and there is no turning back. It is a wonderful story that can be read in one sitting.

Changing Lanes

This is Portia's and Ben's story. A health scare sends Ben to a retreat in California where he meets Portia.
It's interesting to watch how two independent adults come together mentally and physically.
There are only a few little bobbles in word choice or tense. Not enough to bother me.
The story is too short and it sort of fizzles at the end.

This was a cute and quick read. I really liked that Portia wasn’t dealing with insecurities stemming from exes like the women in ALL of the previous books; that was getting old. The geography didn’t make sense since Laguna Beach isn’t particularly close to either Los Angeles or San Diego, especially with any sort of traffic, but I guess those big cities and LAX sounded sexier than something more realistic. All in all, this was worth the read.
